• Notify a content resolver when normal sql insert or update

  I have created a small content provider (which I only use to query a db table and fetch some value). I have confirmed that the provider works fine. The table values get updated on a regular basis through normal sql insertions(and not through anycontent provider) Whenever an insert/update or delete occurs through a normal sqlite operation as mentioned above, I need to notify the content resolvers which was written to communicate with the content provider just for quering database and fetch some values. Is this, possible? If yes what need to be done? Any help is appreciated.

  i am exploring the option of whether DoCmd.TransferText will do what i need, and it seems like it wont. i need to insert data if it does not exist and update it if it does exist i am planning to read a text file line by line like this: Dim intFile As Integer Dim strLine As String intFile = FreeFile() Open myFile For Input As #intFile Line Input #intFile, strLine Close #intFile i guess each individual line will be a record. it will probably be comma separated and some fields will have a " text qualifier because within the field itself i will have commas my question is how would i read a comma delimited text file that has double quotes sometimes as text qualifiers into a table in access?

  Hi, I much prefer using this 'embedded' style inserts in a pl/sql block (opposed to the execute immediate style dynamic sql - where you have to delimit quotes etc). -- a contrived example PROCEDURE CreateReport( customer IN VARCHAR2, reportdate IN DATE ) BEGIN -- drop table, create table with explicit column list CreateReportTableForCustomer; INSERT INTO TEMP_TABLE VALUES ( customer, reportdate ); END; / The problem here is that oracle checks if 'temp_table' exists and that it has the correct number of colunms and throws a compile error if it doesn't exist. So I was wondering if theres any way round that?! Essentially I want to use a placeholder for the table name to trick oracle into not checking if the table exists.

  Hi all, the business logic in my application requires me to insert a row in table X when a row is inserted in table Y. Furthermore, it should only do it between specific times(which I have to query another table for). I have considered running a script every 5 minutes or so to check this, but I stumbled upon triggers and figured this might be a better way to do it. But I find the syntax for procedures a little bewildering and I keep getting an error I have no idea how to fix.   Let's say I have a dataset in an ASP.NET website (.NET 3.5) with 5 tables, each has roughly 30,000 rows and an average of 12 columns. I want to insert all of the data from the dataset into 5 very-similar-but-not-quite-identical tables in SQL Server 2008. I also want to use LINQ (personal preference - trying to learn something new). Is it as simple as iterating through the dataset and, for each row, creating a new instance of the associated class, initializing its data with the dataset's row, adding it to the data model, and then doing one giant SubmitChanges at the end? Are there better ways of doing this with LINQ? Or is this the de-facto standard?

  So, that's how works Interesting Tags: I add into them my interested tags like php, mysql, jquery and so on. Then, if any of questions has the same tags as mine it makes background orange. I understand how to use jquery to do that (there were related questions to that), but without mysql it can't be done. Now, here is a question. How is it done? I imagine like that: There is a row in mysql for every member, let's call it "interested_tags". After I write and submit my tag through input, it is being written in a row "interested_tags". Then, the main page has a query which shows all answers and it always checks answer's with mine tags with strpos like this if(strpos($question_tags, $my_tags) === true) {        //and here will be made background orange } Am I thinking right or is there any way to do it?

  Hi, I am trying to find out the maximum value for an integer (signed or unsigned) from a MySQL database. Is there a way to pull back this information from the database itself? Are there any built-in constants or functions I can use (either standard SQL or MySQL specific). • Android/ORMLite Insert Row with ID

  I'm currently using ORMLite to work with a SQLite database on Android. As part of this I am downloading a bunch of data from a backend server and I'd like to have this data added to the SQLite database in the exact same format it is on the backend server (ie the IDs are the same, etc). So, my question to you is if I populate my database entry object (we'll call it Equipment), including Equipment's generatedId/primary key field via setId(), and I then run a DAO.create() with that Equipment entry will that ID be saved correctly? I tried it this way and it seems to me that this was not the case. If that is the case I will try again and look for other problems, but with the first few passes over the code I was not able to find one. So essentially, if I call DAO.create() on a database object with an ID set will that ID be sent to the database and if it is not, how can I insert a row with a primary key value already filled out? • Optimal way to store and pass a date to Javascript

  I need to store a date-time value in MySQL and subsequently display it on a webpage. Due to its flexibility I usually chose to store a Unix timestamp in the database and convert it with PHP's date() to the desired format. This time however I would like to use MySQL's datetime field (mostly due to 2038) and apply the browser's timezone (hence I cannot simply format it on the server and pass the string to the client). I thought of storing the date as UTC datetime in the database and send it as well-defined format to the client, where it will be further processed. Here I would like to avoid a Unix timestamp but everything else might add additional overhead in processing. Is there any best practice as far as date processing is concerned in a MySQL, PHP, JQuery environment? Thanks.

  AFAIK, java Date type is independent from Timezone which means that it represents specific moment of time as long typed value. I found really weird thing here. This is the original value i tried to insert. (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) 1352955600000 <-- long integer. (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) Thu Nov 15 00:00:00 EST 2012 <-- User Friendly Format. After i finished inserting into Oracle 11g database, the value has changed! (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) 1352952000000 (http-0.0.0.0-9080-4) Wed Nov 14 23:00:00 EST 2012 How could this happen?? The more weird thing is it only happens specific environments such as Jboss.   I have multiple templates which differs with each other only by few containers. The most complex one contains superset of all containers used in all other one thus to avoid creating multiple templates I created the most complex one in following format some layout stuff (div and all) defining nested insert for each container and content. Now in client template based on what is needed I turn off container which is not needed as else if container is needed, just define content as doSomething Please let me know if you guys see any issues with this approach, any potential problem or alternate approach for similar scenario. thanks a lot. • RAID options for a LAMP web server

  I'm due to set up a LAMP web server with four drives and a RAID controller to act as a web server. The drives are 146Gb SAS, and the machine has two quad core processors and 16Gb RAM. There will be very few write operations to the MySQL database, and I'll be using as much caching as possible to reduce disk I/O. Question is: Would I be better off splitting the drives into two RAID 1 arrays, splitting up sequential and random disk I/O, or would I get better overall performance putting them all in a single RAID 1+0 array?

• Foreign key problem linking tables in phpMyAdmin

  I'm using phpMyAdmin (PHP & MySQL) and I'm having a lot of trouble linking the tables using foreign keys. I'm getting negative values for the field countyId (which is the foriegn key). However, it is linking to my other table and cascading fine.
