• Help! Requesting a change of URL on Yahoo Directory!

  I submitted a couple websites on yahoo directory a month ago. For some reason, the url they listed was not the url I asked for, they listed the Japanese version instead of the submitted English version (this is a English directory so obviously it is a mistake). I requested changes and was accepted. But the reality is they promised a change but it was never really done. I contacted them again and again through the 'request a change in URL' form, but there is no answer. Is there any effective way that I can get to them? preferably a phone number or email? Thanks a lot!

• Installed Ubuntu using WUBI due to lack of CD Drive

  I have installed 12.04 via WUBI because my computer does not have a CD Drive. Is there any way that I can delete Windows 7 from my computer and use the whole HD for Ubuntu? I ask this question because for one reason or another I cannot boot from a boot-able USB stick (either in Windows or Ubuntu, however the USB port works because I am able to use my cell phone's tethering plan using all the USB ports to connect to the Internet). Edit: Just found out the problem. Eee PC Model 1018p's do not boot from any format other than FAT and FAT16 and not FAT32.

• Variable names for Contact Information bits

  I am in the middle of refactoring code and would like to get some ideas on variable naming so that my new names clearly represent the data they hold. I have a class called ContactMethod which makes sense to me; each instance is a different way to contact someone. My problem comes when naming the properties of ContactMethod. For example, one instance might be a Fax number of 555-555-5555 while another could be an Email address of [email protected]; I've got a property called contactMethodType to hold the values "fax" or "email", but I don't know what to call the "555-555-5555" or "[email protected]" part. Has anyone here created a good generic name for this piece of contact information? (PS - the old convention was to call it a "Phone" with fields "phoneType" holding the "fax"/"email" value and "phoneId" holding the number/address. Yuck.)

  I'm currently working as an IT Administrator but I'm thinking of making a slight career change into programming. I want to focus my time and effort into learning some web based languages but feel is it achievable when working full time to expect to make much progress after a long days work? I love to read, but this is sometimes a hindrance. I have read on some resources that you will never make much progress unless you quit your 9-5 and dedicated 6 months to getting a fundamental understanding. Any feedback would be great. And do I need to run the app on the emulator to see all the stuff, or is there a way to view this after running the app on my phone(while not being connected to the computer) Links to plugins and tips would be really helpful, as im gonna start work on my next game, and while the first one works fine, had a lot of problems while debugging.

How to use the US Windows Store from Another Country Press the Win + X keyboard combination, or right click in the bottom left hand corner of your screen to open the WinX menu, then launch the Control Panel. Now change the Control Panel’s view to the Small icons view. Then head into the Region settings. When the Region settings open you will need to switch over to the Location tab. Here you will be able to see the location that the Windows Store, as well as other applications , is using. You can change it by simply selecting United States from the drop down. I would like to markup my business listing 'profile' level pages for display as enhanced listings/rich-snippets complete with business names, addresses and phone numbers. I would also like to display site-links and path-based breadcrumbs to help users navigate site directory hierarchy (which is deep). Is there a limit to the amount of breadcrumbs a site can leave? Is there a separate limit on the number of breadcrumbs which Google/Bing will display in the SERP? What kind of markup language(s) would be needed to best position my site to show site-links AND breadcrumbs? • Installing programs from a download

  Hello, my name is Anthony and I'm new to Ubuntu and any other Linux OS for that matter. My question concerns downloading a program, and then installing it. The program is called Remotedroid, it lets you use your phone as a wireless keyboard and mouse. I'm use to windows automatically starting setup upon download and cant figure out how to initiate the install in Ubuntu. The programs website says its compatible with Linux OS and the readme file says to just click the extension remotedroidserver.jar to use, but it wont work and none of the files do anything. I've unzipped all the files and my Java is all up to date as far as i know, I think. I'm just not getting how to run a setup in Ubuntu. I looked around this site for the answer but came up with nothing so if someone could maybe offer some insight I would be grateful. Thank you.

• Mimicking a bluetooth disconnection

  I've written a program to control a bluetooth device. I'm trying to test cases when the bluetooth disconnects, i.e. if its out of range. Physically taking the device out of range is one possibility, but its quite cumbersome and I have to go outside my office to achieve this. What can I do to trigger a disconnection? Is there, for example, an interferer I can setup, say with an Android phone, that would make the connection drop? Or limit the Bluetooth transmit power? Any other possibilities?

  I spent the afternoon with the Geolocator object in the WinRT and Widows 8 platform. I have also been working with doing Windows Phone 7 development, and first had to wrap my head around the fact that while similar, it is not the same as the GeoCoordinateWatcher that environment. I found a nice example here http://code.msdn.microsoft.com/windowsapps/Geolocation-2483de66 But the behavior of my app wasn’t the same. Once you ensure that location services is enabled by following these instructions: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/windows/desktop/hh768219.aspx Location Services was still disabled. From everything I read, it sounded like the first time you try to use the Geolocator object, the user would be prompted to allow to “Access to your location”. After nosing around I found the issue. You need to add the location service as a Capability in the Package.appxmanifest file: After checking the box, I was prompted to allow access to location services as expected the first time I needed to use it.

• How secure is KeePassX?

  I have hundreds of passwords, since I use a different random one for each website/service. They are all generated & stored with KeePassX, which can be synced to different computers and my android phone via dropbox (or ubuntuone). I know the database of KeePassX is secure (at least with a good passphrase). But what about when I am copying the password into the clipboard (where it is stored for 5 seconds)? Can any program running in user-space access the clipboard and store the password? If so, how big of a security risk is this?

• One subdomain is not working

  Hello there, My main domain works just fine - www.example.com and a subdomain set up by another developer works as well - sub1.example.com. But when I try to set another subdomain up I go through the process everything seems to work. The software creates the default files where the subdomain files should go. But when I try to browse there it doesn't work. My host uses Plesk to do all of the hosting stuff. What do you think the problem is? I doubt it is some sort of cache issue because I had problems on my phone which I tried after problems on the pc. Maybe for some reason Plesk needs time to set this up? I have used Cpanel before and that works instantly.

  What I know: Android can load PNG, BMP, WEBP,... via BitmapFactory. What I want to achive: Load my own 2D file format (e.g. 1-bit texture with a 1-bit alpha channel) and output a RGBA8888 texture. Question: Is there any interface to achieve this?(or any other way) The resulting image is used as a texture for a 3D model. Why would you do that? Saving phone memory and download bandwidth while expanding the texture at runtime to RAM seems reasonable for very simple textures.

• Android Java: Way to effectively pause system time while debugging?

  In my project, I call nanoTime and use that to get a deltaTime which I pass to my entities and animations. However, while debugging (for example, stepping through my code), the system time on my phone is happily chugging along, so it's impossible to look at, say, two sequential frames of data in the debugger (since by the time I'm done looking at the first frame, the system time has continued to move ahead by seconds or even minutes). Is there a programming practice or method to pause the system clock (or a way for my code to intercept and fake my deltaTime) whenever I pause execution from the debugger? Additional Information: I'm using Eclipse Classic with the ADT plugin and a Samsung SII, coding in Java.   I've been looking for an alternative Nokia PC suite for Ubuntu. I'm tired of switching OS, and I'm tired of using Windows it is so boring me. Not Wammu, Gammu, Nokuntu, Ginokki and Series 60. They don't work. Via cable. I need an application that can detect via cable (because I have a very different reason why I need it to detect via cable). Also after installing in Wine it can't detect the Phone and I think the installation didn't finish correctly. Thank You !
