Set your ARC min=max to reserve the maximum amount of your remaining memory for your running VMs. In /etc/system: set zfs:zfs_arc_min = 5368709120 set zfs:zfs_arc_max = 5368709120 The amount you need to reserve will depend on your template but this has proven to be a great start for a typical windows 7 VM running productivity applications.

• Compiling a class using Java code using process

• Console Utility that can remote connect to other systems and issue commands

  Hi Frequenlty my work involves to VNC to a remote system and work on it. SInce i run command line apps on this remote system most of the time, i was wondering if there's an alternative software to command prompt which i could install on my local machine. Using this i should be able to create a session with the remote system and from then on all commands issued in command prompt should run in remote system. localHostdir -- should list the directory contents in remotehost active directory localhostapp.exe should run app.exe in remote host and display its contents in localhost command prompt I browsed a little and read about cmdlets in powershell. But it looks like i need to write a cmdlet for each app in the path (dir, mkdir, app.exe in the path). Correct me if am wrong. Once session is established, i simply need the commands invoked in local host to be run in the remote host and return the console output to local host. Please let me know if powershell + cmdlets are the only way THanks

• Configure application priority to access the network

  I noticed that when I am running applications such BitTorrent all the other applications have trouble accessing the network. I am sure it would be possible to limit BitTorrent's network usage but what I really want is to be able to set priorities to applications (or protocols) accessing the network. For example, let's say I put max priority for the browser (or http) and then, no matter how much bandwidth was using at the time, the http packets would always go through. Is this possible? Is there an application for Ubuntu to do this or a way to configure this on Ubuntu directly?

• Manipulating the case of the build macros in Visual Studio: $(TargetDir)

  I've come across a weird problem today in Visual Studio 2005. If I create a new configuration "NewConfiguration" for one of my projects. The output directory referred to by the project in $(TargetDir) is "/path/to/build/area/newconfiguration". Note the loss of capital letters, I'd expect it to be in "/path/to/build/area/NewConfiguration". In another project that I created yesterday, the capital letters are there. Normally this would be a problem, but it's part of a fairly complicated build system where some of it's on unix and we need to worry about case sensitive filename. Does anyone know where the source string for the Visual Studio macros like $(TargetDir) are stored so that I can get the case to be consistent and match what we need for our build system?

• Spring 3 MVC : problem with form:errors and bindingresult

  Hi, I want to validate my inputs but i can't make it work : nothing appear on the page. My project is in java 5, so no JSR303 (@Valid). My only solution, if i'm not mistaken, is to use BindingResult.   I'm getting started with WPF and trying to get my head around connecting data to the UI. I've managed to connect to a class without any issues, but what I really want to do is connect to a property of the main window. • How do I disable/modify CPU underclocking due to temperature on a laptop with a 2nd generation core cpu?

  I am running Ubuntu 11.04 on a tablet with a Core i5-2557M processor. When doing processing intensive tasks the CPU is forcibly under-clocked to 800MHz (instead of the normal base of 1.7GHz.) The CPU temperature is around 75 C. I have disabled CPU scaling (set governor to performance) but this seems to have no effect. I would like to either modify the behavior so that the throttling happens at 95 C or I would like to disable it altogether. Changing the min/max frequency as root using cpufreq works until the temperature rises and then it ceases to work, ignoring a minimum frequency above the 800MHz. On Windows 7 there is a 3rd party utility that can do this (ThrottleStop). Thank you.

  Hi, I have a problem with binding in ComboBox. I'd like to bind ComboBox items to ListView columns and as a selected value return value of attached property defined on the selected column. In example bellow you can see working sample that displays width of selected column. • Data Warehouse: One Database or many?

  At my new company, they keep all data associated with the data warehouse, including import, staging, audit, dimension and fact tables, together in the same physical database. I've been a database developer for a number of years now and this consolidation of function and form seems counter to everything I know. It seems to make security, backup/restore and performance management issues more manually intensive. Is this something that is done in the industry? Are there substantial reasons for doing or not doing it? The platform is Netezza. The size is in terabytes, hundreds of millions of rows. What I'm looking to get from answers to this question is a solid understanding of how right or wrong this path is. From your experience, what are the issues I should be focused on arguing if this is a path that will cause trouble for us down the road. If it is no big deal, then I'd like to know that as well.

• golang dynamically parsing files

  For parsing files i have setup a variable for template.ParseFiles and i currently have to manually set each file. Two things: How would i be able to walk through a main folder and a multitude of subfolders and automatically add them to ParseFiles so i dont have to manually add each file individually? • Zend Framework on a Shared Host

  I am trying to push my first ZF project to my shared hosting provider. I have done a lot of testing on my home server and everything is working great. My issue is that I do not know how to set up my .htaccess files on the shared hosting provider to make it work correctly. The ZF documentation says to configure my Apache config VirtualServer DocumentRoot to /whatever/path/project-folder/public, but I don't have that kind of access. How do I get around this? I have seen http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1115547/zend-framework-on-shared-hosting but none of those solutions have worked for me. My application path looks like this / - .htaccess - /application ... - /public -- .htaccess -- index.php -- ... ... • dynamic 404.jsp using struts

  I would like to display an intelligent 404 page with some application data. Currently, there is a 'dumb' jsp, so I just forward to the view and I am done with it. But now I guess I really need to forward to an action so that I can set some more data to display on the error.jsp. How do I do it through configuration via struts-config? I need congifuration because I do not want to touch any individual files that might be forwarding to the existing view. I tried doing the fol, but I get an error and I dont see anything in the log. • Is there a variable I could use to identify the project directory at the command line options in the

  In Visual Studio 2008 when you go to properties of a project (an ASP.NET MVC one at least) you have the option to run an external program. There are three parts for it: the path to the program, the command line options, the working directory. I need to pass the root of my web application as a command line argument. I don't want to hardcode the path in my machine in that directory. Is there some sort of (environment) variable I could use? Background: I'm trying to run UltiDev Cassini because VS' Cassini is 32bit only. I think this is the right way to run it, is it?

Once the collection is used via foreach cycle, it should return the full path created by concatenating with "baseDirectory". Such problems, based on games, where you have to simulate, predict the result, or obtain the maximum possible score always seem to puzzle me. I can do it with recursion by considering two cases - first number picked or last number picked, each of which again branches into two states similarly, and so on... which finally can yield the max possible result. But it's a very time-inefficient approach, since time increases exponentially, due to the large test cases. What is the most pragmatic approach to the problem, and to such problems in general?

• How to read an image from disk and block until its read?

  I'm loading 5 images from disk but I want the 1st image I read to show as soon as possible. Right now I do UIImage *img = [UIImage imageWithContentsOfFile:path]; in a for loop but since imageWithContentsOfFile:path isn't blocking all 5 images wind up getting read from disk before the first one will appear (because they're all using up I/O). I confirmed this by just load one and it appeared on screen faster than if I load all 5. I'd like to load the 1st image and block until its fully read and shown before loading the next 4 or load the 1st one and be notified when its done before loading the next 4 but I can't figure out a way to do it. None of the 'WithContentsOfFile' methods for data or image block and they don't notify or have delegate methods. Any suggestions? Thanks
