• Fetching templates via API. Who provides this service?

  I'm mainly a server side developer. I'm not a designer, even if I understand web layouts, grids, CSS, typography, valid markup, etc. and I'm able to do some graphic work too (almost). It just takes a lot of time and the result is not always beautiful. I know there are tons of website templates sites out there, and I'd like to use their designs as a starting point for my customers' works, giving them the possibility to choose the design they like more. I'd just prefer to show the templates catalog to customers from within my site, fetching templates info (screenshots, description, etc) from a remote server using an API. TemplateMonster.com provides, or provided, such API. But the service responds with "Unauthorized usage". Are there other sites offering this kind of retrieval service?

      QUICKLINK: Note 153788.1 ORA-600/ORA-7445 Lookup tool Note 1082674.1 : A Video To Demonstrate The Usage Of The ORA-600/ORA-7445 Lookup Tool [Video]   Have you observed an ORA-07445 error reported in your alert log? While the ORA-600 error is "captured" as a handled exception in the Oracle source code, the ORA-7445 is an unhandled exception error due to an OS exception which should result in the creation of a core file.  An ORA-7445 is a generic error, and can occur from anywhere in the Oracle code. The precise location of the error is identified by the core file and/or trace file it produces.  Looking for the best way to diagnose? • How to create projection/view matrix for hole in the monitor effect

  Lets say I have my XNA app window that is sized at 640 x 480 pixels. Now lets say I have a cube model with its poly's facing in to make a room. This cube is sized 640 units wide by 480 units high by 480 units deep. Lets say the camera is somewhere in front of the box looking at it. How can I set up the view and projection matrices such that the front edge of the box lines up exactly with the edges of the application window? It seems like this should probably involve the Matrix.CreatePerspectiveOffCenter method, but I don't fully understand how the parameters translate on to the screen. I realize that his source code is available, but I am afraid I haven't been able to make heads or tails out of it.

• RenderTarget2D behavior in XNA

  I've been dabbling with XNA for a couple of days now. This chunk of code doesn't work as I expect. The goal is to render sprites individually and composite them on another rendertarget. P = RenderTarget2D(with RenderTargetUsage.PreserveContents) D = RenderTarget2D(with RenderTargetUsage.DiscardContents) for all sprites: graphicsDevice.SetRenderTarget(D); <draw sprite i> graphicsDevice.SetRenderTarget(P); <Draw D> graphicsDevice.SetRenderTarget(null); <Draw P> The result I get is - only the last sprite is visible. • Fresh install 12.04 Performance & Stability: SONY VPCCW2S1E

  just yesterday I installed 12.04. Is it normal that installing a package (Chrome for example) takes 5 to 10 minutes (compared to Windows 7 for example which takes 2 or 3)? (with end result: installation failed) Otherwise is it normal that while the system is doing some installation,extracting packs and so on, other applications often become unresponsive? Sidenote: I don't care about fancy desktop effects, I installed ubuntu to go on and experiment with web servers, memcache, Varnish and git/svn. So basically I plan to do lots of console-only operations. My surprise was also the difference of stability compared to an old FreeBSD installation I had on a dinosaur P3 550Mhz :) (I am on a SONY VPCCW2S1E) (I guess it might have to do something with my problems?)

• Visual Studio Load Testing using Windows Azure

  In my opinion the biggest adoption barrier in performance testing on smaller projects is not the tooling but the high infrastructure and administration cost that comes with this phase of testing. Only if a reusable solution was possible and infrastructure management wasn’t as expensive, adoption would certainly spike. It certainly is possible if you bring Visual Studio and Windows Azure into the equation. It is possible to run your test rig in the cloud without getting tangled in SCVMM or Lab Management. All you need is an active Azure subscription, Windows Azure endpoint enabled developer workstation running visual studio ultimate on premise, windows azure endpoint enabled worker roles on azure compute instances set up to run as test controllers and test agents. My test rig is running SQL server 2012 and Visual Studio 2012 RC agents. The beauty is that the solution is reusable, you can open the azure project, change the subscription and certificate, click publish and *BOOM* in less than 15 minutes you could have your own test rig running in the cloud. In this blog post I intend to show you how you can use the power of Windows Azure to effectively abstract the administration cost of infrastructure management and lower the total cost of Load & Performance Testing. As a bonus, I will share a reusable solution that you can use to automate test rig creation for both VS 2010 agents as well as VS 2012 agents. • Why my public ip address is different when I visit different website? [closed]

  After I connect to web via pppoe, I visit different website's phpinfo() page, but the result of _SERVER["REMOTE_PORT"] is different. Including some ip address lookup site like www.whatismyip.com, www.apnic.net etc. and gmail's ip location lookup list are all different. Why? Is these different ip address allocated by ISP on different web resources ? Maybe the reason is CDN by my ISP or the website? If the reason is the ip address allocated by ISP on different web resources, the website visitor's ip address may unreal.

• When to detect collisions in game loop

  My game loop uses a fixed time step to do "physics" updates, say every 20 ms. In here I move objects. I draw frames as frequently as possible. I work out a value between 0 and 1 to represent the proportion of the physics tick that is complete and interpolate between the previous and current physics state before drawing. It results in a smoother game assuming the frame rate is higher than the physics update rate. I am currently doing the collision detection in the physics update routine. I was wondering should it instead take place in the interpolated draw routine where the positions match what the user sees? Collisions can result in explosions by the way.

• Flash animations doesn't work

  I have a following problem: I have Ubuntu 12.04 installed on my Athlon 1800+ + 1 GB RAM + Nvidia Geforce4 MMX 440 (pretty old configuration) and everything works just fine except Flash Player in my Web browser (tried Firefox and Chromium). Instead of movie/animation, I get blank space. I updated my system via update manager, checked the plugins (everything OK), installed and updated flash player one more time, installed Ubuntu restricted extras, tried Firefox's Flash Aid, even tried Youtube Html 5 (still the same result)... Please, help me! I enjoy working with Linux and Ubuntu is the first that works for me well (after Open Suse and Fedora) but I have no idea what is wrong now...

• How do I list installed software with the installed size?

  I would like to have a list the installed software on my machine, with the disk space consumed by them alongside. I would prefer to be able to order by largest/smallest, but that is not a necessity. I am the sort of person who will install software to try it, and never clean up after myself. As a result, my 7GB (Windows and my Data are on separate partitions, as well as a swap area) Ubuntu 11.04 partition is suffering, and has started regularly showing warning messages. I have cleaned my browser cache, as well as everything under Package Cleaner in Ubuntu Tweak, and am left with 149.81 MB off free space.

  I was first using authorship tag on all the pages of my website. That gave me a pretty decent improvement in the click through rate. However, I have recently added ratings on my website, i.e. all my pages are being rated by the readers and the same has been made available to Google via rich snippets. The result being the image of the author from the google search results has been removed. It shows ratings given by the customers and just writes the name of the author. What will be its impact on the click-through rate ? Is it OK to have the ratings or should I switch back to only authorship tag as I was using in the past ? Please comment if I am unclear in asking my problem. Thanks :)

  My system has an atom N270 + intel i915 graphic card. Under Windows I can enjoy 720p bigbuckbunny youtube video fullscreen without any trouble. Under Ubuntu 12.04 I have laggy and choppy fullscreen video and choppy video when not fullscreen. I've seen that under ubuntu the cpu is almost always at 100% use. What I must do in order to have videos playing well under ubuntu ? • In MATLAB, how can 'preallocating' cell arrays improve performance?

  I was reading this article on MathWorks about improving MATLAB performance and you will notice that one of the first suggestions is to preallocate arrays, which makes sense. But it also says that preallocating Cell arrays (that is arrays which may contain different, unknown datatypes) will improve performance. But how will doing so improve performance because the datatypes are unknown so it doesn't know how much contiguous memory it will require even if it knows the shape of the cell array, and therefore it can't preallocate the memory surely? So how does this result in any improvement in performance? I apologise if this question is better suited for StackOverflow than Programmers but it isn't asking about a specific problem so I thought it fit better here, please let me know if I am mistaken though. Any explanation would be greatly appreciated :)

  While certain classes like java.lang.Integer and java.lang.Math have been in the platform since the beginning, that doesn't mean there aren't more enhancements to be made in such places! For example, earlier in JDK 8, library support was added for unsigned integer arithmetic. More recently, my colleague Roger Riggs pushed a changeset to support integer overflow, that is, to provide methods which throw an ArithmeticException on overflow instead of returning a wrapped result. Besides being helpful for various programming tasks in Java, methods like the those for integer overflow can be used to implement runtimes supporting other languages, as has been requested at a past JVM language summit. This year's language summit is coming up in July and I hope to get some additional suggestions there for helpful library additions as part of the general discussions of the JVM and Java libraries as a platform.

• My VPS cannot send email

  Webmaster Newbie Question I have a low end vps (128MB RAM)running on Debian.I used a bash script by ilevkov to setup the site. After some trial and error, I managed to set up a WordPress on it. Just now I found out that my VPS can't send any email. I tested using the WordPress reset password email, and it shows The e-mail could not be sent. Possible reason: your host may have disabled the mail() function... After some Google session I noticed that I can send email from ssh. So I tried mail [email protected] Subject: Halo dion some message . and the result said EOT /usr/lib/sendmail: No such file or directory "/root/dead.letter" 9/243 . . . message not sent. Before optimization : Google PageSpeed Insights score : 53/100 Web Page Performance Test : 55/100 (First View : 10.710s, Repeat view : 6.387s ) Yahoo Overall performance score : 68 Stage 1 After optimization : Google PageSpeed Insights score : 88/100 Web Page Performance Test : 88/100 (First View : 6.733s, Repeat view : 1.908s ) Yahoo Overall performance score : 80 My question is ? • Slowdowns while using Firefox

  I have Windows 7 and Natty installed on my computer. There is no problem on Windows 7's side, but whenever I log into Natty, it slows down while using Firefox 4. I tried it in normal mode using Unity and classic mode. However, the result is the same: it slows down e.g. when I scroll, it takes time to get effect, and also when I click other tabs, it takes time to active them. Moreover I cannot type properly, due to the lag. I don't know what the problem is?

  Doug was a key leader in the JCP and did all his research on sparc/solaris. That is until we changed the free patch policy support academics & research post CIC and he and many left in droves entirely pissed off. Well, we're working on a fix now so that all faculty can set-up a server environment, get free patch support and innovate on our stack from OS to virtualization to toolsets in support research, academic use and teaching. Hopefully, just maybe, we can start to bring Doug and the others back home as a result.

  I recently came across an interesting question on stack overflow with some interesting reponses.  I like this post for three reasons. First, I am a big fan of dependency injection, it forces you to decouple your code, create cohesive interfaces, and should result in testable classes. Second, the author took the approach I usually do when trying to evaluate a technique or technology; suspend personal feelings and try to find some compelling arguments against it. Third, it proved that it is very difficult to come up with a compelling argument against dependency injection. What are the downsides to using dependency injection?
