• How to reduce simple cpp application size? (compiled with RAD Studio 2010 cpp builder)

  I am using rad studio 2010 cpp builder. I've created a new SDI application, added a TCppWebBrowser control and a simple button that onclick trigger the .navigate for the TCppWebBrowser, I compiled it and I got a 1.20mb file, I was expecting less than 700kb at least. How can I reduce the size of the compiled exe? I don't want to use "build with runtime packages", I know that will make it very small but I want to get all the necessary packages and dependencies inside the exe but maybe I am getting more than I use, I tried unchecking/removing a lot of design packages (in project/options/packages) I don't use but the file size didn't decreased. Also I was thinking maybe the TForm component that comes with RAD Studio is giving me more stuff than I need and that could make the file bigger, I mean I only need to drop a webbrowser control and a few buttons in the form, maybe there's a minimal form component I could use to replace TForm. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

  I would like to edit a video so that i can embed a small bitmap image at any corner. The bitmap image has to be replaced with another image, for every two video frames. If somehow it is possible to covert a group of pictures into slideshow video then i want that video to be embedded at the corner of the main video. • Javascript: variable in outer function not changed by inner function

  I am having a small issue with what I believe is probably my misunderstanding of Javascript closures. I have this piece of code -- getStdOpts: function(tbl, filt) { var vals = new Array(); this.srvs.getStdOptions( { tbl: tbl }, { 'ok': function(rsp) { for (var i in rsp) { vals.push({ value: rsp[i].id, text: rsp[i].descr }); } } } ); return vals; } In essence, although the inner function inside the getStdOptions call ('ok': function...) pushes new values into the vals array, when accessed from outside the call, the vals array is empty. When accessed from within the inner function, vals contains all the elements as expected. Would really appreciate any help I can get on this matter.

• Help to edit the Recent Posts Wordpress widget to diplay in all 3 languages at once

  Site link: http://nuestrafrontera.org/wordpress/ I want the feed of recent post titles to show in the sidebar for all 3 languages, separated by language. So, for example, under Recent Posts the sidebar would have "English" and then the latest 3 posts in English, then "Español" and the latest 3 in Spanish and then French. All in a list in the column and appearing on all pages with the sidebar in all languages. I am using the most current version of Wordpress with the WPML plugin. I believe the Wordpress widget for Recent Posts needs to be tweaked to do this. • Matlab: how do I force ode45 to take steps of exactly 0.01 on the T axis?

  I'm using Matlab to solve a differential equation. I want to force ode45 to take constant steps, so it always increments 0.01 on the T axis while solving the equation. How do I do this? ode45 is consistently taking optimized, random steps, and I can't seem to work out how to make it take consistent, small steps of 0.01.   In my experience, .net is 2 to 3 times slower than native code. (I implemented L-BFGS for multivariate optimization). I have traced the ads on stackoverflow to http://www.centerspace.net/products/ the speed is really amazing, the speed is close to native code. How can they do that? They said that: Q. Is NMath "pure" .NET? A. The answer depends somewhat on your definition of "pure .NET". NMath is written in C#, plus a small Managed C++ layer. For better performance of basic linear algebra operations, however, NMath does rely on the native Intel Math Kernel Library (included with NMath). But there are no COM components, no DLLs--just .NET assemblies. Also, all memory allocated in the Managed C++ layer and used by native code is allocated from the managed heap. Can someone explain more to me? Thanks!

  Hello to everyone :), I am using the recursive Flood fill algorithm in Java to fill some areas of a image. With very small images it works fine, but when de image becomes larger the JVM gives me a Stack Over Flow Error. That's the reason why I have to reimplement the method using a Flood Fill with my own stack. (I read that's the best way to do it in these kind of cases) Can anyone explain me how to code it? (if you don't have the code at hand, with the pseudo-code of the algorithm will be fine) I've read a lot in the Internet but I haven't understood it very well. Thanks!

  Hi, I have a small contest problem in which is given a set of points, in 2D, that form a triangle. This triangle may be subject to an arbitrary rotation, may be subject to an arbitrary translation (both in the 2D plane) and may be subject to a reflection on a mirror, but its dimensions were kept unchanged. Then, they give me a set of points in the plane, and I have to find 3 points that form my triangle after one or more of those geometric operations. Example: 5 15 8 5 20 10 6 5 17 5 20 20 5 10 5 15 20 15 10 I bet that have to apply some known algorithm, but I don't know which. The most common are: convex hull, sweep plane, triangulation, etc. Can someone give a tip? I don't need the code, only a push, please!

  Hello, maybe it's not so proper to ask this question here... anyway, I'm trying to use the gmp library for the implementation of DH, but the problem here I got is: Once, when I was doing the tests to observe the output, although big values of prime and the private keys were selected: p was about more than 300 digits long in decimal a, b were about 100 digits long finally I got a shared secret key which was extremely small, perhaps smaller than 10^8 in decimal... This problem didn't show up many times, in fact, during all the observation, it appeared just once...but still, this was not so good at all.   I made a tongue-in-cheek comment to this question about making a hardware RNG. Does anyone know of any simple plans or can anyone descibe a simple hardware based RNG and the software to drive it? Go to Radio Shack. Buy a diode, an NTR resistor, a capacitor and serial cable. Cut off the end of the serial cable that does not fit on your computer. Solder the diode and resistor in series between pins DTR and DSR of the cable. Solder the capacitor between DSR and TXD pins. Write a small C program to do the following: Set DTR to 1. Start Timer. Monitor DSR until it goes to 1. Stop Timer. Calculate resistance from elapsed time. Retreive serveral bits from that value to use as part of random number. Repeat until enough bits have accumulated.

I am thinking about a client/server application and being new to this kind of application I have search a bit around the web and the solution which come the more often is to create a new thread for each new client connection. This solution seem fine but I was wondering if it was still usable with a application where you can have thousands of client at the same time ? Of course if there is thousands of client the application will not be hosted on a small desktop but on a real server, but is it the way to design an application for a large number of client ?   I've just found myself in situation where I needed to handle exception I'll probably never get, so out of curiosity, let's do a small poll. Do you validate the presence of resources in your programs? I mean, those resources which are installed with your program, like icons, images and similar. Generally, if those are missing, either your install didn't do its job, or the user randomly deleted files in your app. If you do validate the presence, what do you do when the files are not there? Of course, for web apps, you'll have nice 404 page or broken link, but what about the rest? Fail early, yes, but leave handling failures to your compiler, or what?

  Hi, I’ve throughout the last couple of years downloaded a lot of templates for websites and these are now starting to become chaotic in the different folders so I’m starting to get a overview of the different templates. Regarding to this I was thinking about the way that WordPress displays the different themes installed in the themes folder. It provides a small overview (thumbnail) of the theme and a possibility to preview the theme. Of cause, I don’t need or want such a advanced system as Wordpress but I’m attractive to the idea of displaying my templates in the same kind of manner and without using a Database. I’ve played around with different directory management scripts and tools for PHP but the best result I’ve got so fare is just to display the different content in the different folders but not create a preview which in each preview it will use the webpage itself and it’s stylesheets, images, etc. Does anyone have an idea how to create such a script or have a link to a already existing script. Of cause is all the main pages named index.htm / .html Sincere Mestika

  Hi, i need to develop an iPhone application that is a Client of serverside application. This application is not for customer but for sell agents. I know that if i try to send to Apple to put on Apple Store they reject it because the application have no sense for Apple Store. The company is small so i can't use the Enterprise program.   Hi, I'm building a application that supports different domains. A small CMS that supports different domains. But what I can't figure out is how to redirect other domains that's outside google apps. I have a domain at google apps, that work's perfectly. When I create a cname that points at either my appid.appspot.com or www.appsdomain.com it just goes to google.com. What do I need to do so the other domains point to my appengine application. ..fredrik

  Hello all, I would like to embed the great Bottle web framework into a small application (1st target is Windows OS). This app starts the bottle webserver thanks to the subprocess module. import subprocess p = subprocess.Popen('python websrv.py') The bottle app is quite simple @route("/") def index(): return template('index') run(reloader=True) It starts the default webserver into a Windows console. All seems Ok except the fact that I must press Ctrl-C to close the bottle webserver. I would like that the master app terminates the webserver when it shutdowns. I can't find a way to do that (p.terminate() doesn't work in this case unfortunately) Any idea? Thanks in advance

• Changing drag cursor in VirtualTreeView

  When using VirtualTreeView drag operation by default is [doCopy,doMove]. Move operation is indicated by arrow pointer with small box and Copy operation is indicated by same pointer icon but with added [+] next to it. By default VT uses copy operation and if you press modifier key (SHIFT key) it modifies operation to move therefore removing the [+] from pointer. Here is what I need: reverse the operations (default would be move, with modifier key pressed - copy) and thus reverse pointer arrow too replace modifier key - CTRL instead of SHIFT read in an event which of the two operations occurred and start copy or move operation Any pointers into right direction(s) appreciated.
