• mysql gem for snow leopard

  I had trouble with the gem at first but got it to work when I installed the 64-bit MySQL and reinsatlled the gem with arch flags. So it work in rails. The error I used to get was uninitialized constant MysqlCompat::MysqlRes but that is now gone :) However in Xcode when I run a RubyCocoa project I still get the old error of uninitialized constant MysqlCompat::MysqlRes Does anyone know why this may be? Is it because the gdb is 64-bit? How can it work in Rails but not in RubyCocoa? A little debugging shows that it fails to load mysql_api.bundle /Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/mysql-2.8.1/lib/mysql_api.bundle: dlopen(/Library/Ruby/Gems/1.8/gems/mysql-2.8.1/lib/mysql_api.bundle, 9): no suitable image found.   I can't get spring annotations to work at all, I'm just trying to get the simplest thing to work... .../mycontext/something - invokes method: @RequestMapping(value = "/something") @ResponseBody public String helloWorld() { System.out.println("hello world"); return "Hello World"; } My main problem is no matter how hard I try, I can't find a complete SIMPLE example of the configuration files needed, every spring tutorial is filled with junk, I just one one controller to handle a request with a mapping and can't get it to work does anyone know of a simple and complete spring example. pet-clinic is no good, it's way too complicated, I have a tiny basic use case and it's proving to be a real pain to get working (this always happens with Spring)

• Simplest possible table entry editing / addition / deletion web toolkit (for use with php)

  Hi, i'm building a website in php and i have tables presented that i need to allow the user to: 1. add new entry (only one at a time, which should appear as a new modal overlay) 2. delete multiple selected entries from 3. edit an existing entry (only one at one time, in a view similar to 1.) 4. re-arrange entries up and down. One by one is fine. Multiple / Grouping rearrangements are not not needed what jquery / js / anything toolkit would be the SIMPLEST to work with? (of course, i should be able to work with it in php). I did try hacking away at: http://www.ericmmartin.com/projects/simplemodal/ but had a terrible time trying to get it to work on editing some existing data (had problem passing data to it).

• Component properties working at designtime but not runtime

  I am creating a component that uses a collection and collection items of panels. I can't seem to get the colors to work at runtime, but yet they seem to work just fine at design time. You can download the component source code here: http://www.shaneholmes.net/pasfiles/ There is a Consoles (Tcollection) property, status colors property, and a Edit mode property Each console (TCollectionItem) has a status property when changed, the consoles property is changed based on the components StatusColors property. When the components EditMode property is set to true, you can move the panels around at runtime. Question: Why does the colors only work at designtime and not runtime. thanks

• Dereferencing pointers without pointing them at a variable

  I'm having trouble understanding how some pointers work. I always thought that when you created a pointer variable (p), you couldn't deference and assign (*p = value) unless you either malloc'd space for it (p = malloc(x)), or set it to the address of another variable (p = &a) However in this code, the first assignment works consistently, while the last one causes a segfault: typedef struct { int value; } test_struct; int main(void) { //This works int* colin; *colin = 5; //This never works test_struct* carter; carter->value = 5; } Why does the first one work when colin isn't pointing at any spare memory? And why does the 2nd never work? I'm writing this in C, but people with C++ knowledge should be able to answer this as well.

• Force save files all browsers - not open in browser window

  I'm after a simple solution to work in all browsers. For specific file types, or targeted links via a class: how can I get them to simply force download in all major browsers.   Hi, I have following code that does not work due to "a" being a value typed. But I thought it would not work even without accessors, but it did: class Program { a _a //with accessors it WONT compile { get; set; } static void Main(string[] args) { Program p = new Program(); p._a.X = 5; //when both accessors are deleted, compiler does not //complain about _a.X not being as variable } } struct a { public int X; } It does not work as "a" is struct. • XSLT transformations in Ruby and JRuby

  Simple question: are there any solid XSLT libraries that work in both Ruby and JRuby? REXML works in both, but does not have XSLT support. ruby-xslt doesn't work in JRuby. The latest Nokogiri betas do support JRuby, but the support is still buggy and throws occasional NullPointerExceptions for XML input that works fine in Ruby. (In particular, any transforms that don't result in valid XML cause it to barf, even if xsl:output is set to 'text'!) JXslt is just a wrapper for Java's Xalan/Saxon and doesn't work in Ruby. Please tell me I'm missing something?

  Does anyone know how to replace the IBM JSF Portlet Bridge with Myfaces Portlet Bridge 2.0? I want to set up a small local testing environment. Pluto + Tomcat + Myfaces Portlet Bridge. My Portlets are on JSF 1.1, but it should be possible to use JSF 1.2 Implementation!? Target is that a developed portlet(some old portlets use ibm jsf extended components) work on websphere portal and pluto without changes. I managed with maven profiles to get a small portlet with ibm jsf components to work in pluto, but i dont get it to work in websphere portal... Does anyone have experiences with that issue?

• JQuery animate div "like" a Zoom

  I can never get these to work - sorry - but I I am trying to animate on a mouse over then "re-animate" on a mouse out. I can never get $('#xyz').hover(function(){'something',function(){'somethingelse'}); to work. Hope you guys can help. What I am trying to do is animate + and - 20px (top and left) on some absolutely positioned divs and then add 40px to the width height returning to the original position/width/height on mouse out. I haven't even got to the css widths/heights yet ....   Where can I find out enough info about how Brushes work to implement my own System.Windows.Media.Brush? I can handle all of the freezable baggage, but it's not really obvious what I need to override to get it to work. Yeah, so I didn't mean that I want to use a predefined brush. I want to extend System.Windows.Media.Brush, which is an abstract class. This is all purely for my own edification. I'm not even sure what kind of brush I could make. Basically they should be able to create new revisions, annotate, comment etc without affecting what users see without my approval. Particularly the node might already be public. "Revision Moderation" module sounds a bit like what I want, but it seems not to be so much used, and I run into other modules like "Workflow". • If Possible, How Can One Set Either a Background Color on Cells within a Sizer or Gridlines for the

  I am flailing about with wxWidgets, in particular, the wx.Sizer in wxPython. I have read the documents, I have a copy of wXPython in Action before me, and have set aside the problem to work on other things a better mental model of sizers hopefully gestated within my skull. None of this has worked. I am not grokking, or even getting to the point where I can bang about usefully, how sizers work. In HTML, I could at least set a background color on some div or td, or call forth borders so I could see how things are laid out. Here, I have a grey expanse and no idea which of the nested static box sizers from which it originates. I am giving static box sizers after making a mess out of the grid bag sizers. Either alternative would let me at least get a handle on how these work.

• Merging two folders using git

  I'm working on a project with some people who have never used git before. Not knowing the capabilities of git, they created two version of the project: development and production. These two versions are both present in the current environment. To complicate things further, this other user created these folders in addition to the old development folder. So the project directory looks like this /root /proj (old dev folder with my own code in it) /dev_proj (new folder which I would like to merge /prod with) /prod_proj (production code) So what I'd like to do is merge the work that I've done in /proj with the work in the /dev_proj. Is there a way to do this with git? I've thought about creating a branch, copying all the files from /proj to /dev_proj and merging that branch with master. Would this work? Thanks and if I could clarify something let me know.

• Performing AJAX calls on the "new" controller

  In my rails app, I want to have a sortable list as part of an object creation. The best practice suggested Railscast adds the acts_as_list plugin and then initiates AJAX calls to update item position. However, AJAX calls won't work on an unsaved model, which is the situation with new. One solution would be to save the model immediately on new and redirect to edit. This would have a nice side effect of persisting any change so the user could resume work should he be interrupted. However, this solution adds the unwanted complexity of saving an invalid model, compromising rails' validation processes. Is there any better way to allow AJAX + validations without going into too much work?

• jquery slideUp() and slideDown() problems

  Hello, I am very crap at jquery, and im having some trouble with the slideUp() and slideDown() animations. I have been working on a vCard design similar to tim van damme's site. here is a the link to the design: link. When you click on the portfolio or work button, the text or image appears first before the div finishes sliding down. I would like the div to slide down first and then show the text... This currently works when you click on the contact button or the home button on the top navigation bar, but does not work for the portfolio button and the work button. I have a hunch that this may not even be a jquery problem, and that its just my bad css code, but I have skimmed through the css code, and changed things like z-index, but that hasnt worked.

• Windows Server 2008 and com objects

  Hi, im moving a Dll (built in c++) from windows 2000 server to a 2008 server but im have some trouble to register it. In 2000 all you normaly have to do is a "regsrv32 name.dll" but this will not work in 2008 because you get a pointer error, iv also tried to use "gacutil /i name.dll" because someone told me this might work, but it didnt. So, im kind of desperate, is there anyone that have some solution to how i can get this c++ dll to work in 2000 server so that i can access it from an old classic asp page. EDIT: This is the error when running regsrv: " The module "name.dll" was loaded but the entry-point DllRegisterServer was not found. Make sure that "name.dll" is a valid DLL or OCX file and then try again. " Note that i cant edit the dll file in anyway =( Best Regards Marthin

  I'm trying to do an interop to a C++ structure from C#. The structure ( in C# wrapper) is something like this [StructLayout(LayoutKind.Sequential, CharSet = CharSet.Auto)] public struct SENSE4_CONTEXT { public System.IntPtr dwIndex; //or UInt64, depending on platform. } The underlying C++ structure is a bit abnormal. In 32 bit OS, dwIndex must be IntPtr in order for the interop to work, but in 64 bit OS, it must be UInt64 in order for the interop to work. Any idea how to modify the above structure to make it work on both 32 and 64 bit OS?

  I´m having some trouble retrieving a collection of strings in a projection: say that I have the following classes public class WorkSet { public Guid Id { get; set; } public string Title { get; set; } public ISet<string> PartTitles { get; protected set; } } public class Work { public Guid Id { get; set; } public WorkSet WorkSet { get; set; } //a bunch of other properties } I then have a list of Work ids I want to retrieve WorkSet.Title, WorkSet.PartTitles and Id for. My tought was to do something like this: var works = Session.CreateCriteria<Work>() .Add(Restrictions.In("Id", hitIds)) .CreateAlias("WorkSet", "WorkSet") .SetProjection( Projections.ProjectionList() .Add(Projections.Id()) .Add(Projections.Property("WorkSet.Title")) .Add(Projections.Property("WorkSet.PartTitles"))) .List(); The Id and Title loads up just fine, but the PartTitles returns null. Suggestions please!

THis works in our US offfice ... when i run the same application from our columbian client .. it does not work. C# code to send email a) use senMail C# API b) C# script to manually do the telnet to client smtp outgoing email server and send emails. BOth work in our US office .... but does not work when run from columnbian client location I need a solution asap ... pls help ..

  I'm building a web application to generate monthly subscription fees, but I've quickly realised I'm going to need some help with the project to finish it this century. I don't have any money upfront for a freelancer and every website I've found takes bids for project work. The tasks that need doing are flexible too because I can do whatever the other coder doesn't want to. I'm also happy to guide the developer and offer tips for performance/security/etc etc. My question is; how do I go about finding someone to work with on a profit-share basis? I'm sure there are a billion people like me with the "next killer app" but I genuinely believe in it. Can anyone offer some advice? Thanks in advance! EDIT: I guess the trick is to find someone passionate enough about the subject as I am. Where would I find someone? Are there websites that broker profit-share deals on programming work?
