• Can I bind multiple forms to a single model using the default model binder?

  I have a complex page with several forms on it. The page is divided into sections, and each section has a continue button on it. The page is bound to a pageViewModel, each section addresses a different set of properties on the model. The continue button makes an ajax call to the controller, and the model binder binds it appropriately to the appropriate sections of the model. The section is refreshed appropriately. Finally, I would like to have a save button at the bottom of the page that takes all the forms, and binds all of the forms to the model. The model, at this point has all of the properties filled out, and can be processed accordingly. Can I accomplish this by some ASP MVC magic?

• How to keep an Hibernate's Session open until the page is rendered

  I'm having the following problem: I'm using Oracle ADF for the view and controller of my app. With OpenSessionInViewFilter, I intercept the request and open an Hibernate's Session, and it is closed as soon as the bean's method finishes. What I need is to keep the Session opened until the page is rendered, because in my JSP y use the lazy attributes of the object i load from the DB. For example: When I enter index.jspx the IndexBean#main() is executed: public class IndexBean{ private DBObject myDBObject; public String main(){ this.myDBObject = this.myDAO.loadObjectFromDB(); return null; } } in index.jspx I have: ... <af:inputText value="#{myDBObject.lazyAttribute}" /> ...   Hi, I have got an app I'm going to write in ASP.NET MVC and I want to create a DatabaseFactory object something like this:- public class DatabaseFactory { private string dbConn get { return <gets from config file>; } public IDatabaseTableObject GetDatabaseTable() { IDatabaseTableObject databaseTableObject = new SQLDatabaseObject(dbConn); return databaseTableObject; } } and this works fine, but I obviously have to instantiate the DatabaseFactory in every controller that needs it. If I made this static, so I could, in theory just call DatabaseFactory.GetDatabaseTable() it would cause a memory leak, wouldn't it?

However when I try to create a song I get the following error:No action responded to 1. • Enable Query Strings in Code Igniter

  Hey, I am trying to implement Twitter's OAuth into my Code Igniter web application at which the callback URL is /auth/ so once you have authenticated with Twitter you are taken to /auth/?oauth_token=SOME-TOKEN. I want to keep the nice clean URL's the framework provides using the /controller/method/ style of URL but I want to enable query strings as well, there will only ever be one name of the data oauth_token so it's ok if it has to be hard coded. Any ideas? I have tried tons of the things people are saying to do, but none work :( PS: I'm using the .htaccess method of URL rewriting.

• Having all Views in the Shared folder - works but is throwing "caught exceptions". Performance conc

  Hi everyone, I have a simple but heavily used app done in VS2010/MVC2. I didn't like having separate folders for each view/controller and so have all the views in the Shared folder. It's working fine but while debugging in VS, I noticed that it's throwing IO "caught exceptions" since it seems to be looking in the [FolderName]/[ViewName] folder before going down to the Shared folder. Again, the app runs fine but I'm concerned that all these "caught exceptions" will have a minor performance impact since they do have a cost in via the CLR. Is there any way I can configure the Routing so that it will only look in the Shared folder? Thanks.

  I am working with URL routing , and have some issues. I want my url to be like this: www.domain.com/p/myproduct But I also want to be able to retrieve the ID of the product, without accessing the database. I thought about having a URL like: www.domain.com/p/myproduct/1 But if I could hide the ID it would be better. So, how do I do it the simplest way?   Which method can be used in Codeigniter to achieve active menu tabs? For example I have a user menu Profile Friends Messages Logout When I'm in the profile controller the URL is domain.com/profile/some_function The Profile tab should be active by changing the background color for example. I would usually add php to the tabs to check for their corresponding URL segment and I would change the style of the active tab. In Codeigniter should I implement a helper? What function can I easily use in tabs?

I'm building a "rolodex" type application, and this question is about the best way to handle creating an entity along with several relationship entities at the same time. For (a contrived) example: My application will have a Person model, which has_one Contact_Info model. On the create.html.erb page for Person it makes sense for the user of my appliction to create the person, and the contact_info at the same time. It doesn't seem right to include details for creating a contact directly in the create view/controller for person. What's the rails way to handle this?

• How do I temporarily monkey with a global module constant?

  Greetings, I want to tinker with the global memcache object, and I found the following problems. Cache is a constant Cache is a module I only want to modify the behavior of Cache globally for a small section of code for a possible major performance gain. Since Cache is a module, I can't re-assign it, or encapsulate it. I Would Like To Do This: Deep in a controller method... code code code... old_cache = Cache Cache = MyCache.new code code code... Cache = old_cache code code code... However, since Cache is a constant I'm forbidden to change it. Threading is not an issue at the moment. :) Would it be "good manners" for me to just alias_method the special code I need just for a small section of code and then later unalias it again? That doesn't pass the smell test IMHO. Does anyone have any ideas? TIA, -daniel

  I have a UnitOfWork/Service pattern where I populate my model using NHibernate before sending it to the view. For some reason I still get the YSOD, and I don't understand why the object collection is not already populated. • Generating Dynamic web pages without server side scripting

  Hi guys, I am trying to control a media device which has lot of multimedia content that it can play using another device(remote control device) like an ipad connected to the LAN. (UPnP) I want the media device to be able to send the content listing to the remote device so that it will be rendered as a webpage on the remote controller. And actions on the webpages needs to be sent to the the device as commands to execute (like play, pause, next etc). The media device is an embedded device, hence can't have any server side scripting, all has to be done on the client side. I want the page rendered to be HTML5. So, is it possible to generate dynamic HTML5 pages using just client side scripting? Thanks a lot. I am an embedded systems developer hence clueless about the web designing stuff.

• How can I get a rails server to use the same databse that cucumber uses during a test?

  The cucumber test first makes an entry in the database and posts a form to a second server. This second server does some processing in background and then hits the first app (where the test is being run) with some data that the cucumber test needs to know about. I've tried running the main server via script/server and script/server -e test while the cucumber test is running, but I can't seem to force the server to use the same database that cucumber is using when it runs its step definitions. That is, when the second server pushes some data to a controller in the main server, the main server doesn't know about any entries that cucumber has made in the database. How can I get cucumber and the main server to use the same database?

  I'm creating a new project, asp.net mvc3 with Razor, and wanting to turn the LogOn into an ajax request. HTML @using (Ajax.BeginForm("LogOn", "Account", new AjaxOptions { HttpMethod="post", OnSuccess="LoginSubmitted"})) { } Controller if (Request.IsAjaxRequest()) { return Json(new { ResultMessage = "Username or password provided is incorrect"}); } else { ModelState.AddModelError("", "The user name or password provided is incorrect."); } Everything else remains the same. First, looking at the the http response with Fiddler, I notice there is no x-requested-with header. So I add <input type="hidden" name="X-Requested-With" value="XMLHttpRequest" /> That seems to work, but now what I receive back is a Json object, which isn't being parsed and instead Google Chrome is just rendering the Json to screen. Whats happening?

Erlang program to call these functions. I want to know where(platforms) I can run this robot. Is it possible to run this robot over micro-controller(8051 or ARM7) based hardware?   In regard to this question I am curious how one can do post-request REST processing a la (crude): def postProcessor[T](content: T) = { request match { case Accepts.Json() => asJson(content) case Accepts.Xml() => asXml(content) case _ => content } } overriding onRouteRequest in Global config does not appear to provide access to body of the response, so it would seem that Action composition is the way to go to intercept the response and do post-processing task(s). Question: is this a good idea, or is it better to do content-type casting directly within a controller (or other class) method where the type to cast is known? Currently I'm doing this kind of thing everywhere: toJson( i18n("account not found") ) toJson( Map('orderNum-> orderNum) ) while I'd like the toJson/toXml conversion to happen based on accepts header post-request.

  I use Yahoo UI with Grails (so grailsui) and I try to upload a file with Ajax and get a JSON response from the server : The response is correctly returned by my controller but a popup is displayed to save the file but it's not a file it's a JSON result. My Yahoo Code is : callback = { success: function(o){alert('success');}, failure: function(o){alert('failure');} } YAHOO.util.Connect.asyncRequest('POST', '/my/url', callback); The http response is the JSON result. FavoriteBookLastUpdated { get; set; } } Right now I just update that field, if appropriate, in the controller's Edit action before calling the DBContext's SaveChanges() method.   I have an ASP.NET MVC application that uses Linq to SQL repositories for all interactions with the database. To deal with data security, I do trimming to filter data to only those items to which the user has access. This occurs in several places: Data in list views Links in a menu bar A treeview on the left hand side containing links to content Role-based security A special security attribute, inheriting from AuthorizeAttribute, that implements content-based authorization on every controller method. Each of these places instantiates a repository, which opens a Linq to Sql DataContext and accesses the database. So, by my count, each request for a page access opens at least six separate Linq to SQL DataContexts. Should I be concerned about this from a performance perspective, and if so, what can be done to mitigate it?

  As noted by the title, what is the best way to configure an IIS 6.0 deployment of an ASP.NET MVC application such that connections to hidden shares are ignored? The application in question is using wildcard mapping to allow for clean URLs since we are planning on upgrading to IIS 7.0 in the near future and we are also handling the caching and compression issues with a custom library so we would like to avoid turning wildcard mapping off unless absolutely necessary.   Hi, I'm trying to understand why: NSLog(@"self = %p", self); in awakeFromNib prints a different value than the same NSLog in viewDidLoad? This isn't a huge problem because I don't need the awakeFromNib but I would like to understand how it works. Considering that resources are already defined in routes.rb I was expecting it to work easily, bute somehow when I click the save button it calls the create method, instead of update, using a POST http request.
