• Default soundcard per application in Vista?

  I use a USB headset during the day, then at night I use my speakers to watch video. I constantly have to use the windows playback list to change the default soundcard before I run the program I want. I did some google research but it doesn't seem to help much, mostly because of false positives. I tried to use "Sound Card Manager" but it didn't seem to work properly. Has anyone had any sucess dealing with the Vista sound system?

• Which shared-hosting service can provide at least 80MB of memory to PHP scripts?

  An open source PHP package that I'm using requires 80M of memory (i.e., must set memory_limit = 80M in php.ini). I was thinking of using one of the cheap 1&1 packages but they are limited to 40M. Do you happen to know of other hosts which can provide this amount of memory for $10/month or less? Thanks.

• Cannot find Power Management Tab in XP

  I have the problem that when I send my computer to sleep it wakes if you bump the table, floor, burp etc. I have read many threads that say go to Device Manager Mouse Properties Power Management Tab and uncheck the box for wake. My problem is I do not have a Power Management Tab! Anyone know how to enable the tab or stop the mouse from waking my machine? And no, turning it upside down doesn't work either!

  Any ideea why every NSIS setup file(.exe) i download gives CRC error when trying to install. I do not have any firewall installed and also i tried with and withouth a download manager. Also files downloaded with bittorrent have crc errors. But this happens only with setups that were made with NSIS and only on windows 7, on XP they work fine and aloso any other files work except those made with NSIS.

  I'm trying to install PHP on Windows 7 Home Premium using these instructions: Using FastCGI to Host PHP Applications on IIS 7 and a 1/3 of the way down on the page I have to do this: Server Manager -> Roles -> Add Role Services and just cannot find Roles or Role Services. Any ideas? PHP is giving me a 500 error and I'm wondering if it's because I haven't done this role services thing.

• Is there a way to unhook a global hotkey in windows?

  I'm running Windows 7, and I installed an application that installed a global hot key (ctrl+shift+space) which conflicts with another application (Visual Studio) that uses that hotkey (though, not globally, only applications specific). The question is, knowing which application it is (ScanSnap Manager) and that it doesn't have a setting to turn off the hot key, is there a way I disable it through Windows somehow? Thanks!

  Hi Guys, How do you generally proceed for your package installations on Linux, for packages that are not part of your distrib's repos? On my side I am used to install in /opt. But since, I saw this doc on the Internet: http://www.pathname.com/fhs/. Now I am confused: apparently /usr/local would be also a possibility. What is the difference between both?   Hi, I have some issue to install MySecureShell on CentOS 5.4 because I want to use Yum to install it (for maintainability). I get this error : yum install mysecureshell Error: Missing Dependency: libcrypto.so.10()(64bit) is needed by package mysecureshell-1.20-1.x86_64 (mysecureshell) I assume that the issue is that openSSL shipped with CentOS 5.4 is too old... I don't want to install everything manually so I would like to know if there is an equivalent to MySecureShell which would work with CentOS 5.4. Thanks!

• Reporting Services 2008 Service Account error

  I saved over the encryption key backup file when changing from one account to another. Now I can't see reports, change accounts, or use any of the Encryption key tools in the configuration manager.
