Pre-Loading von Tabellen in 11g

Tabellen und Indizes in den Cache zu laden, damit möglichst wenig I/O durchgeführt wird, ist eine häufig anzutreffende Anforderung. Diese Technik nennt man auch Pre-Loading oder Pre-Caching von Datenbank Objekten. Die Durchführung ist dabei sehr einfach. Gleich zu Beginn werden spezielle SQL Statements wie SELECT Statements mit Full Table Scan oder Index Scan durchgeführt, damit die entsprechenden Objekte vollständig in den Cache geladen werden können. Besonders interessant ist dieser Aspekt auch im Zusammenhang mit der Erstellung von Testumgebungen. Falls beispielsweise kein Warmup möglich ist, kann man bevor der eigentliche Test durchgeführt wird, bestimmte Tabellen und Indizes mit dieser Technik vorab in den Buffer Cache laden. Fast set indexing data structure for superset retrieval

I am given a set of sets: {{a,b}, {a,b,c}, {a,c}, {a,c,f}} I would like to have a data structure to index those sets such that the following "lookup" is executed fast: find all supersets of a given set. For example, given the set {a,c} the structure would return {{a,b,c}, {a,c,f}, {a,c}} but not {a,b}. Any suggestions? Could this be done with a smart trie-like data structure storing sets after a proper sorting? This data structures is going to be queried a lot. Thus, I'm searching for a structure that might be expensive in build but rather fast to query.

how to remove update repo that always fails

A week or so ago I tried to add a new package repo that supposedly had a package I wanted. Unfortunately, the information about it was out of date, and I found that it fails to connect to it each time. I'd like to just remove the new repo, but I'm not sure how to do that. Keep Google Analytics in a backup site or not?

I backed up my website and uploaded it to another server for testing and backup purposes. Should I remove the Google Analytics snippet from the index.php (which is for the real site), or does it not matter as it's not the same server and url address as the one declared at Google Analytics account? The reason I don't want to remove it is in case someone forgets about it if they upload the backup to the real site in case the real one breaks. Also I know that if I turn off the website there is no GA snippet, but I need it open so I can easily access and test it so I don't have to write pass all the time.

Automate RAC Cluster Upgrades using EM12c

One of the most arduous processes in DB maintenance is upgrading Databases across major versions, especially for complex RAC Clusters.With the release of Database Plug-in (12.1.0.5.0), EM12c Rel 3 (12.1.0.3.0) now supports automated upgrading of RAC Clusters in addition to Standalone Databases. This automation includes: Upgrade of the complete Cluster across the nodes. ( Example: 11.1.0.7 CRS, ASM, RAC DB -> 11.2.0.4 or 12.1.0.1 GI, RAC DB) Best practices in tune with your operations, where you can automate upgrade in steps: Step 1: Upgrade the Clusterware to Grid Infrastructure (Allowing you to wait, test and then move to DBs). Step 2: Upgrade RAC DBs either separately or in group (Mass upgrade of RAC DB's in the cluster). Standard pre-requisite checks like Cluster Verification Utility (CVU) and RAC checks Division of Upgrade process into Non-downtime activities (like laying down the new Oracle Homes (OH), running checks) to Downtime Activities (like Upgrading Clusterware to GI, Upgrading RAC) there by lowering the downtime required. Ability to configure Back up and Restore options as a part of this upgrade process. You can choose to : a. Take Backup via this process (either Guaranteed Restore Point (GRP) or RMAN) b. Set the procedure to pause just before the upgrade step to allow you to take a custom backup c. Ignore backup completely, if there are external mechanisms already in place. High Level Steps: Select the Procedure "Upgrade Database" from Database Provisioning Home page. What is 'lack of original content'?

It is written everywhere that lack of original content is has a negative impact on ranking. But what is lack of original content? (I am not talking about duplicate content) I guess if you copy other site's content, this makes sense. But, assuming one develops its own functionalities, but similar functionalities are already available on other sites, is this considered lack of original content? Can Google decide to not index such pages (i.e., not give them a chance at all)? Are there other definition of 'lack of original content'?

A little SQL tip for C# developers

The other day at work I came across a handy little block of SQL code from Jeremiah Clark's blog. It's pretty simple logic but through the mind of a C# developer making some quick DB updates, seems to me that it's more likely to end up writing out the code in Solution 1 instead of Solution 2 below to solve the problem. Basically, I needed to check and see if a specific record existed in Table1. If it does exist, then update that record, otherwise insert a new record into Table1. Solution 1: IF EXISTS (SELECT * FROM Table1 WHERE Column1='SomeValue') UPDATE Table1 SET (...) WHERE Column1='SomeValue' ELSE INSERT INTO Table1 VALUES (...) Solution 2: UPDATE Table1 SET (...) WHERE Column1='SomeValue' IF @@ROWCOUNT=0 INSERT INTO Table1 VALUES (...) As Jeremiah explains, they both accomplish the same thing but from a performance standpoint, Solution 2 is the better way to go (saved table/index scan). Domain files download upon opening

I'm having this wierd issue with my Domain. My domain is saoo.eu hosted on HostZilla. The issue is that whenever I open an html/php file it automatically downloads it instead of opening it into the browser. Example the saoo.eu/test.html page. Same thing happens with the index.html file. What is going on? Also if I want an PHP code ran into an HTML file I have to add an .htaccess file. But it doesn't seem to work. Tested it before.

Is it needed to have your blog title and description in H1 and H2

I have read an article that states that it is not necessary to have your blog title and description on your website at all. Just have the titles of the posts in h1, on the index and the post page. And on the post page have your different sections started with h2. Widget headers start with h3. Title and description are most of the time in the logo image. I have looked at the source of my favorite blog, http://net.tutsplus.com, and I see they do the same. Is this recommended?

Hardware instancing for voxel engine

i just did the tutorial on Hardware Instancing from this source: http://www.float4x4.net/index.php/2011/07/hardware-instancing-for-pc-in-xna-4-with-textures/. Somewhere between 900.000 and 1.000.000 draw calls for the cube i get this error "XNA Framework HiDef profile supports a maximum VertexBuffer size of 67108863." while still running smoothly on 900k. That is slightly less then 100x100x100 which are a exactly a million. Now i have seen voxel engines with very "tiny" voxels, you easily get to 1.000.000 cubes in view with rough terrain and a decent far plane. Obviously i can optimize a lot in the geometry buffer method, like rendering only visible faces of a cube or using larger faces covering multiple cubes if the area is flat. But is a vertex buffer of roughly 67mb the max i can work with or can i create multiple?

Restricting crawler activity to certain directories with robots.txt

I would like to use robots.txt to prevent indexing of some parts of my website. I want search engines to index only the / directory and not search inside my controllers. In my robots.txt, I have this: User-Agent: * Disallow: /compagnies/ Disallow: /floors/ Disallow: /spaces/ Disallow: /buildings/ Disallow: /users/ Disallow: / I put this file in /mysite/public. I tested the file with a robots.txt validator and got no errors. However, Google always returns the result of my site. For testing, I added Disallow: /, but again, Google indexed all pages. floors, spaces, buildings, etc. are not physical directories. Is this a bug? How can I work around it?

Base Pages and Interfaces for ASP.NET Pages

For quite a while I have been using the concept of base pages when developing pages in ASP.NET applications. It is a wonderful method for exposing common functions to all of your applications pages and also overriding certain events for various purposes (i.e. dynamic themes). Recently I found out a new developer will be joining my team. This prompted me to review the applications code for readability and ease of maintenance. I began adding comments through out the code behind for all pages within the application. While doing so I noted that I had used common method names for such things as loading data, configuring controls, applying filters, etc. Bringing a new developer on board, I wanted to make the transition as seamless as possible while also ensuring they follow existing coding practices we already have in place. While I could have created virtual methods for the common page methods allowing them to overridden, what I really needed was a way to ensure the new developer implemented the same methods for each and every page. Thus I created an interface to force the issue. Now, every page not only inherits the base page class but also implements an interface. This provides every page not only common functions and overridden page events but also imposes rules for implementing certain common methods :-) Interface public interface BasePageInterface { /// Configures page based on users security permissions. void CheckPermissions(); /// Configures Filter Form control for current page. /// Ensure you have set the FilteredGrid and PageAjaxManager properties of the FilterForm control in PageLoad!!! void ConfigureFilters(); /// Sets event handlers and default settings for controls on the current page. void ConfigureControls(); /// Exports data bound to grid in selected format. void ExportGridData(ExportFormat fmt); /// Loads data and binds to grid. /// Columns are turned on/off in grid depending on tab selected and users permissions. void LoadData(); } Page code-behind class definition: public partial class MyPage : BasePage, BasePageInterface Note, you could not use an abstract class to accomplish this considering C# does not allow for multiple inheritance. Ipython and Matplotlib in Ubuntu 13.10

I've recently updated my Ubuntu to the 13.10 version. To my surprise, Ipython and Matplotlib are available only in versions prior to those I had in my previous 12.04 LTS install. When with the 12.04, I had the Julian Taylor PPA set up in my repositories, and that's why (I think) I had most up-to-date versions from both packages. The versions currently in 13.10 are: Matplotlib: 1.2.1 (http://matplotlib.org/index.html, most current version is 1.3.1) Ipython: 0.13.2 (http://ipython.org, most current version is 1.1.0 – September 2013) Is there any PPA available for the 13.10? The JTaylor ppa covers only as far as 12.10 (Quantal, link not available due to reputation rank in stack exchange) Should I install those packages outside apt? Isn't that troublesome?

14.04 LTS, 32-bit, Software Updater error "Failed to download repository information: Check your internet connection"

There isn't much to say about this one: when I run Software Updater, I get the above error message. That can't be good. Interestingly, when I click on "Settings..." and then close the settings dialogue that pops up, all of a sudden Software Updater successfully finds updates and installs them. I thought I should bring this to the attention of the Ubuntu community. sudo apt-get update returns the following: W: Failed to fetch http://ppa.launchpad.net/deluge-team/ppa/ubuntu/dists/trusty/main/binary-i386/Packages 404 Not Found E: Some index files failed to download. They have been ignored, or old ones used instead. I have screen captures, but I don't have enough reputation points to post them.

I have developed an web app with jquery,html-css markup which would be an premium web app. So I have to ensure the security of the code from being stolen.But as all these are client side,so there is no 100% secure way to protect them.But I want to make them harder to steal.For this I did : I have disabled the right click button of mouse I have minified and obfuscated the code. I have used js code to add external js file and obfuscated the code so that none can understand the name of the external js file I have created a index.html file in the js folder so that none can get access the js folder Do you think all these are enough to make stealing harder? Or any suggestion/advice for me?
