  • Should I throw my own ArgumentOutOfRangeException or let one bubble up from below?

    - by Neil N
    I have a class that wraps List< I have GetValue by index method: public RenderedImageInfo GetValue(int index) { list[index].LastRetrieved = DateTime.Now; return list[index]; } If the user requests an index that is out of range, this will throw an ArgumentOutOfRangeException . Should I just let this happen or check for it and throw my own? i.e. public RenderedImageInfo GetValue(int index) { if (index >= list.Count) { throw new ArgumentOutOfRangeException("index"); } list[index].LastRetrieved = DateTime.Now; return list[index]; } In the first scenario, the user would have an exception from the internal list, which breaks mt OOP goal of the user not needing to know about the underlying objects. But in the second scenario, I feel as though I am adding redundant code. Edit: And now that I think of it, what about a 3rd scenario, where I catch the internal exception, modify it, and rethrow it?

  • ANDing javascript objects together

    - by Jonas
    I ran across this chunk of code (modified) in our application, and am confused to how it works: function someObject() { this.someProperty = {}; this.foo = { bar: { baz: function() { return "Huh?" } } }; this.getValue = function() { return (this.someProperty && this.foo.bar && this.foo.bar.baz && this.foo.bar.baz()) || null; } } function test() { var o = new someObject(); var val = o.getValue(); alert(val); } when you call the test() function, the text "Huh?" is alerted. I'm not sure how the result of getValue is returning that, I would've thought doing A && B && C && D would have returned true, rather than the value of D.

  • Hot to get generic type from object type

    - by Murat
    My Classes are; class BaseClass { } class DerivedClass1 : BaseClass { } class GenericClass<T> { } class DerivedClass2 : BaseClass { GenericClass<DerivedClass1> subItem; } I want to access all fields of DerivedClass2 class. I use System.Reflection and FieldInfo.GetValue() method; Bu I cant get subItem field. FieldInfo.GetValue() method return type is "object". And I cant cast to GenericClass<DerivedClass1> or I cant get DerivedClass1 type. I try this with BaseClass BaseClass instance = FieldInfo.Getvalue(this) as GenericClass<BaseClass>; but instance is null. How to get instance with type or how to get only type?

  • Google SpreadSheets - When using a time trigger in code, some cells getting '#N/A' value

    - by Robi
    I've created a Google spreadsheet with imported data on one cell, extracting specific string to another cell and pasting the data in a table with a trigger for every 2 hours. Now everything works perfectly when running the script manually but when logged out and waiting for the cells to fill, sometimes the pasted cell getting "#N/A" value. Here is the code I'm using: function PasteV(){ var ss = SpreadsheetApp.getActiveSpreadsheet(); var sheet = ss.getSheets()[0]; var timestamp= sheet.getRange("D1").getValue(); var sale= sheet.getRange("G1").getValue(); var rent= sheet.getRange("J1").getValue(); sheet.appendRow([timestamp, rent, sale]); } Again when running manually countless times - no problem. I'll appreciate your help. Thanks.

  • How to add multiple files to py2app?

    - by Niek de Klein
    I have a python script which makes a GUI. When a button 'Run' is pressed in this GUI it runs a function from an imported package (which I made) like this from predictmiP import predictor class MiPFrame(wx.Frame): [...] def runmiP(self, event): predictor.runPrediction(self.uploadProtInterestField.GetValue(), self.uploadAllProteinsField.GetValue(), self.uploadPfamTextField.GetValue(), \ self.edit_eval_all.Value, self.edit_eval_small.Value, self.saveOutputField) When I run the GUI directly from python it all works well and the program writes an output file. However, when I make it into an app, the GUI starts but when I press the button nothing happens. predictmiP does get included in build/bdist.macosx-10.3-fat/python2.7-standalone/app/collect/, like all the other imports I'm using (although it is empty, but that's the same as all the other imports I have). How can I get multiple python files, or an imported package to work with py2app?

  • Different return value of an overridden class

    - by Samer Afach
    I have a simple but confusing question here. Is it legal to have a different return value type for overridden methods than the abstact ones defined in the base class?? I did that and the compiler didn't complain... could someone please explain? class MyBaseClass { int value; public: virtual int getValue() = 0; }; class MyClass : public MyBaseClass { double value; public: virtual double getValue(); // here!!! return is double, not int }; double MyClass::getValue() { return this->value; } The compiler totally accepted something similar (MSVC und MinGW)... could anyone please exaplain to what extent this is legal?

  • Zend Framework: The form filter I am using is not filtering!

    - by Andrew
    So I have a form that is using the Zend_Filter_Null filter. When I call it directly, it works: $makeZeroNull = new Zend_Filter_Null(); $null = $makeZeroNull->filter('0'); //$null === null However, when I try to add it to an element in my form, it doesn't filter the value when I call getValue(). class My_Form extends Zend_Form { public function init() { $makeZeroNull = new Zend_Filter_Null(); $this->addElement('text', 'State_ID', array('filters' => array($makeZeroNull))); } } //in controller if ($form->isValid($_POST)) { $zero = $form->State_ID->getValue(); //getValue() should return null, but it is returning 0 } What is going on? What am I doing wrong?

  • Zend Framework: My custom form filter is not filtering!

    - by Andrew
    So I have a form that is using a custom filter (which is really just a copy of Zend_Filter_Null). When I call it directly, it works: $makeZeroNull = new My_Filter_MakeZeroNull(); $null = $makeZeroNull->filter('0'); //$null === null However, when I try to add it to an element in my form, it doesn't filter the value when I call getValue(). class My_Form extends Zend_Form { public function init() { $makeZeroNull = new My_Filter_MakeZeroNull(); $this->addElement('text', 'State_ID', array('filters' => array($makeZeroNull))); } } //in controller if ($form->isValid($_POST)) { $zero = $form->State_ID->getValue(); //getValue() should return null, but it is returning 0 } What is going on? • C# Constructor Problem When Using Generics

    - by Jimbo
    Please see an example of my code below: public class ScrollableCheckboxList { public List<ScrollableCheckboxItem> listitems; public void ScrollableCheckboxList<TModel>(IEnumerable<TModel> items, string valueField, string textField, string titleField) where TModel : class { listitems = new List<ScrollableCheckboxItem>(); foreach (TModel item in items) { Type t = typeof(TModel); PropertyInfo[] props = new [] { t.GetProperty(textField), t.GetProperty(valueField), t.GetProperty(titleField) }; listitems.Add(new ScrollableCheckboxItem { text = props[0].GetValue(item, null).ToString(), value = props[1].GetValue(item, null).ToString(), title = props[2].GetValue(item, null).ToString() }); } } } The code produces the following error: 'ScrollableCheckboxList': member names cannot be the same as their enclosing type This clearly means that there is a method in the class that has the same name as the class, but usually insinuates that the method is trying to return something (which is not allowed) In my case, all I have done is declare a constructor - why would this be a problem?

  • android listview loadmore button with xml parsing

    - by user1780331
    Hi i have to developed listview with load more button using xml parsing in android application. Here i have faced some problem. my xml feed is empty means how can hide the load more button on last page. i have used below code here. public class CustomizedListView extends Activity { // All static variables private String URL = "http://dev.mmm.com/xctesting/xcart444pro/retrieve.php?page=1"; // XML node keys static final String KEY_SONG = "Order"; static final String KEY_TITLE = "orderid"; static final String KEY_DATE = "date"; static final String KEY_ARTIST = "payment_method"; int current_page = 1; ListView lv; LazyAdapter adapter; ProgressDialog pDialog; @Override public void onCreate(Bundle savedInstanceState) { super.onCreate(savedInstanceState); setContentView(R.layout.main); lv = (ListView) findViewById(R.id.list); ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> songsList = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); XMLParser parser = new XMLParser(); String xml = parser.getXmlFromUrl(URL); // getting XML from URL Document doc = parser.getDomElement(xml); // getting DOM element NodeList nl = doc.getElementsByTagName(KEY_SONG); // looping through all song nodes <song> for (int i = 0; i < nl.getLength(); i++) { // creating new HashMap HashMap<String, String> map = new HashMap<String, String>(); Element e = (Element) nl.item(i); // adding each child node to HashMap key => value map.put(KEY_ID, parser.getValue(e, KEY_ID)); map.put(KEY_TITLE, parser.getValue(e, KEY_TITLE)); map.put(KEY_ARTIST, parser.getValue(e, KEY_ARTIST)); songsList.add(map); } Button btnLoadMore = new Button(this); btnLoadMore.setText("Load More"); btnLoadMore.setBackgroundResource(R.drawable.lgnbttn); // Adding Load More button to lisview at bottom lv.addFooterView(btnLoadMore); // Getting adapter adapter = new LazyAdapter(this, songsList); lv.setAdapter(adapter); btnLoadMore.setOnClickListener(new View.OnClickListener() { @Override public void onClick(View arg0) { // Starting a new async task new loadMoreListView().execute(); } }); } private class loadMoreListView extends AsyncTask<Void, Void, Void> { @Override protected void onPreExecute() { // Showing progress dialog before sending http request pDialog = new ProgressDialog( CustomizedListView.this); pDialog.setMessage("Please wait.."); //pDialog.setIndeterminateDrawable(getResources().getDrawable(R.drawable.my_progress_indeterminate)); pDialog.setIndeterminate(true); pDialog.setCancelable(false); pDialog.show(); pDialog.setContentView(R.layout.custom_dialog); } protected Void doInBackground(Void... unused) { current_page += 1; // Next page request URL = "http://dev.mmm.com/xctesting/xcart444pro/retrieve.php?page=" + current_page; ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>> songsList = new ArrayList<HashMap<String, String>>(); XMLParser parser = new XMLParser(); String xml = parser.getXmlFromUrl(URL); // getting XML from URL Document doc = parser.getDomElement(xml); // getting DOM element NodeList nl = doc.getElementsByTagName(KEY_SONG); NodeList nl = doc.getElementsByTagName(KEY_SONG); if (nl.getLength() == 0) { btnLoadMore.setVisibility(View.GONE); pDialog.dismiss(); } else // looping through all item nodes <item> for (int i = 0; i < nl.getLength(); i++) { // creating new HashMap HashMap<String, String> map = new HashMap<String, String>(); Element e = (Element) nl.item(i); // adding each child node to HashMap key => value map.put(KEY_ID, parser.getValue(e, KEY_ID)); map.put(KEY_TITLE, parser.getValue(e, KEY_TITLE)); map.put(KEY_ARTIST, parser.getValue(e, KEY_ARTIST)); songsList.add(map); } // get listview current position - used to maintain scroll position int currentPosition = lv.getFirstVisiblePosition(); // Appending new data to menuItems ArrayList adapter = new LazyAdapter( CustomizedListView.this, songsList); lv.setAdapter(adapter); lv.setSelectionFromTop(currentPosition + 1, 0); } }); return (null); } protected void onPostExecute(Void unused) { // closing progress dialog pDialog.dismiss(); } } } EDIT: Here i have to run the app means the listview is displayed on perpage 4 items.my last page having 1 item.please refer this screenshot:http://screencast.com/t/fTl4FETd In last page i have to click the load more button means have to go next activity and successfully hide the button on empty page..please refer this screenshot:http://screencast.com/t/wyG5zdp3r i have to check the condition for empty page: if (nl.getLength() == 0) { btnLoadMore.setVisibility(View.GONE); pDialog.dismiss(); } How can i write the conditon fot last page?????pleas ehelp me Here i wish to need the o/p is hide the button on last page.   • ResponseStatusLine protocol violation

    - by Tom Hines
    I parse/scrape a few web page every now and then and recently ran across an error that stated: "The server committed a protocol violation. Section=ResponseStatusLine".   After a few web searches, I found a couple of suggestions – one of which said the problem could be fixed by changing the HttpWebRequest ProtocolVersion to 1.0 with the command: 1: HttpWebRequest req = (HttpWebRequest)HttpWebRequest.Create(strURI); 2: req.ProtocolVersion = HttpVersion.Version10;   …but that did not work in my particular case.   What DID work was the next suggestion I found that suggested the use of the setting: “useUnsafeHeaderParsing” either in the app.config file or programmatically. If added to the app.config, it would be: 1: <!-- after the applicationSettings --> 2: <system.net> 3: <settings> 4: <httpWebRequest useUnsafeHeaderParsing ="true"/> 5: </settings> 6: </system.net>   If done programmatically, it would look like this: C++: 1: // UUHP_CPP.h 2: #pragma once 3: using namespace System; • PowerShell - grabbing values out of the registry and running them

    - by Rob Farley
    So I closed an application that runs when Windows starts up, but it doesn’t have a Start Menu entry, and I was trying to find it. Ok, I could’ve run regedit.exe, navigated through the tree and found the list of things that run when Windows starts up, but I thought I’d use PowerShell instead. PowerShell presents the registry as if it’s a volume on a disk, and you can navigate around it using commands like cd and dir. It wasn’t hard to find the folder I knew I was after – tab completion (starting the word and then hitting the Tab key) was a friend here. But unfortunately dir doesn’t list values, only subkeys (which look like folders). PS C:\Windows\system32> dir HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run PS C:\Windows\system32> Instead, I needed to use Get-Item to fetch the ‘Run’ key, and use its Property property. This listed the values in there for me, as an array of strings (I could work this out using Get-Member). PS C:\Windows\system32> (Get-Item HKLM:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run).Property QuickSet SynTPEnh Zune Launcher PS C:\Windows\system32> Ok, so the thing I wanted wasn’t in there (an app called PureText, whicih lets me Paste As Text using Windows+V). That’s ok – a simple change to use HKCU instead of HKLM (Current User instead of Local Machine), and I found it. Now to fetch the details of the application itself, using the RegistryKey method GetValue PS C:\Windows\system32> (Get-Item HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run).GetValue('PureText') "C:\Users\Rob\Utilities\PureText.exe" PS C:\Windows\system32> And finally, surrounding it in a bit of code to execute that command. That needs an ampersand and the Invoke-Expression cmdlet. PS C:\Windows\system32> '& ' + (Get-Item HKCU:\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run).GetValue('PureText') | Invoke-Expression A simple bit of exploring PowerShell which will makes for a much easier way of finding and running those apps which start with Windows.

  • Team Foundation Server (TFS) Team Build Custom Activity C# Code for Assembly Stamping

    For the full context and guidance on how to develop and implement a custom activity in Team Build see the Microsoft Visual Studio Rangers Team Foundation Build Customization Guide V.1 at http://vsarbuildguide.codeplex.com/ There are many ways to stamp or set the version number of your assemblies. • More elegant way to avoid hard coding the format of a a CSV file?

    - by dsollen
    I know this is trivial issue, but I just feel this can be more elegant. So I need to write/read data files for my program, lets say they are CSV for now. I can implement the format as I see fit, but I may have need to change that format later. The simply thing to do is something like out.write(For.getValue()+","+bar.getMinValue()+","+fi.toString()); This is easy to write, but obviously is guilty of hard coding and the general 'magic number' issue. The format is hard-coded, requires parsing of the code to figure out the file format, and changing the format requires changing multiple methods. I could instead have my constants specifying the location that I want each variable to be saved in the CSV file to remove some of the 'magic numbers'; then save/load into the an array at the location specified by the constants: int FOO_LOCATION=0; int BAR_MIN_VAL_LOCATION=1; int FI_LOCATION=2 int NUM_ARGUMENTS=3; String[] outputArguments=new String[NUM_ARGUMENTS]; outputArguments[FOO_LOCATION] = foo.getValue(); outputArgumetns[BAR_MIN_VAL_LOCATION] = bar.getMinValue(); outptArguments[FI_LOCATOIN==fi.toString(); writeAsCSV(outputArguments); But this is...extremely verbose and still a bit ugly. It makes it easy to see the format of existing CSV and to swap the location of variables within the file easily. However, if I decide to add an extra value to the csv I need to not only add a new constant, but also modify the read and write methods to add the logic that actually saves/reads the argument from the array; I still have to hunt down every method using these variables and change them by hand! If I use Java enums I can clean this up slightly, but the real issue is still present. Short of some sort of functional programming (and java's inner classes are too ugly to be considered functional) I still have no obvious way of clearly expressing what variable is associated with each constant short of writing (and maintaining) it in the read/write methods. For instance I still need to write somewhere that the FOO_LOCATION specifies the location of foo.getValue(). It seems as if there should be a prettier, easier to maintain, manner for approaching this? Incidentally, I'm working in java at the moment, however, I am interested conceptually about the design approach regardless of language. Some library in java that does all the work for me is definitely welcome (though it may prove more hassle to get permission to add it to the codebase then to just write something by hand quickly), but what I'm really asking is more about how to write elegant code if you had to do this by hand.

  • Mousin' down the PathListBox

    - by T
    While modifying the standard media player with a new look and feel for Ineta Live I saw a unique opportunity to use their logo with a dotted I with and attached arc as the scrub control. So I created a PathListBox that I wanted an object to follow when a user did a click and drag action.  Below is how I solved the problem.  Please let me know if you have improvements or know of a completely different way.  I am always eager to learn. First, I created a path using the pen tool in Expression Blend (see the yellow line in image below).  Then I right clicked that path and chose [Path] --> [Make Layout Path].   That created a new PathListBox.  Then I chose the object I want to move down the new PathListBox and Placed it as a child in the Objects and Timeline window (see image below).  If the child object (the thing the user will click and drag) is XAML, it will move much smoother than images. Just as another side note, I wanted there to be no highlight when the user selects the “ball” to drag and drop.  This is done by editing the ItemContainerStyle under Additional Templates on the PathListBox.  Post a question if you need help on this and I will expand my explanation. Here is a pic of the object and the path I wanted it to follow.  I gave the path a yellow solid brush here so you could see it but when I lay this over another object, I will make the path transparent.   To animate this object down the path, the trick is to animate the Start number for the LayoutPath.  Not the StartItemIndex, the Start above Span. In order to enable animation when a user clicks and drags, I put in the following code snippets in the code behind. the DependencyProperties are not necessary for the Drag control.   namespace InetaPlayer { public partial class PositionControl : UserControl { private bool _mouseDown; private double _maxPlayTime; public PositionControl() { // Required to initialize variables InitializeComponent(); //mouse events for scrub control positionThumb.MouseLeftButtonDown += new MouseButtonEventHandler(ValueThumb_MouseLeftButtonDown); positionThumb.MouseLeftButtonUp += new MouseButtonEventHandler(ValueThumb_MouseLeftButtonUp); positionThumb.MouseMove += new MouseEventHandler(ValueThumb_MouseMove); positionThumb.LostMouseCapture += new MouseEventHandler(ValueThumb_LostMouseCapture); } // exposed for binding to real slider using a DependencyProperty enables animation, styling, binding, etc.... public double MaxPlayTime { get { return (double)GetValue(MaxPlayTimeProperty); } set { SetValue(MaxPlayTimeProperty, value); } } public static readonly DependencyProperty MaxPlayTimeProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("MaxPlayTime", typeof(double), typeof(PositionControl), null);   // exposed for binding to real slider using a DependencyProperty enables animation, styling, binding, etc....   public double CurrSliderValue { get { return (double)GetValue(CurrSliderValueProperty); } set { SetValue(CurrSliderValueProperty, value); } }   public static readonly DependencyProperty CurrSliderValueProperty = DependencyProperty.Register("CurrSliderValue", typeof(double), typeof(PositionControl), new PropertyMetadata(0.0, OnCurrSliderValuePropertyChanged));   private static void OnCurrSliderValuePropertyChanged(DependencyObject d, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs e) { PositionControl control = d as PositionControl; control.OnCurrSliderValueChanged((double)e.OldValue, (double)e.NewValue); }   private void OnCurrSliderValueChanged(double oldValue, double newValue) { _maxPlayTime = (double) GetValue(MaxPlayTimeProperty); if (!_mouseDown) if (_maxPlayTime!=0) sliderPathListBox.LayoutPaths[0].Start = newValue / _maxPlayTime; else sliderPathListBox.LayoutPaths[0].Start = 0; }   //mouse control   void ValueThumb_MouseMove(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { if (!_mouseDown) return; //get the offset of how far the drag has been //direction is handled automatically (offset will be negative for left move and positive for right move) Point mouseOff = e.GetPosition(positionThumb); //Divide the offset by 1000 for a smooth transition sliderPathListBox.LayoutPaths[0].Start +=mouseOff.X/1000; _maxPlayTime = (double)GetValue(MaxPlayTimeProperty); SetValue(CurrSliderValueProperty ,sliderPathListBox.LayoutPaths[0].Start*_maxPlayTime); }   void ValueThumb_MouseLeftButtonUp(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { _mouseDown = false; } void ValueThumb_LostMouseCapture(object sender, MouseEventArgs e) { _mouseDown = false; } void ValueThumb_MouseLeftButtonDown(object sender, MouseButtonEventArgs e) { _mouseDown = true; ((UIElement)positionThumb).CaptureMouse(); }   } }   I made this into a user control and exposed a couple of DependencyProperties in order to bind it to a standard Slider in the overall project.  This control is embedded into the standard Expression media player template and is used to replace the standard scrub bar.  When the player goes live, I will put a link here.

  • How can I make my generic comparer (IComparer) handle nulls? [closed]

    - by Nick G
    Hi, I'm trying to write a generic object comparer for sorting, but I have noticed it does not handle the instance where one of the values it's comparing is null. When an object is null, I want it to treat it the same as the empty string. I've tried setting the null values to String.Empty but then I get an error of "Object must be of type String" when calling CompareTo() on it. public int Compare(T x, T y) { PropertyInfo propertyInfo = typeof(T).GetProperty(sortExpression); IComparable obj1 = (IComparable)propertyInfo.GetValue(x, null); IComparable obj2 = (IComparable)propertyInfo.GetValue(y, null); if (obj1 == null) obj1 = String.Empty; // This doesn't work! if (obj2 == null) obj2 = String.Empty; // This doesn't work! if (SortDirection == SortDirection.Ascending) return obj1.CompareTo(obj2); else return obj2.CompareTo(obj1); } I'm pretty stuck with this now! Any help would be appreciated.

  • Json.Net Issues: StackOverflowException is thrown when serialising circular dependent ISerializable object with ReferenceLoopHandling.Ignore

    - by keyr
    I have a legacy application that used binary serialisation to persist the data. Now we wanted to use Json.net 4.5 to serialise the data without much changes to the existing classes. Things were working nice till we hit a circular dependent class. Is there any workaround to solve this problem? Sample code as shown below [Serializable] class Department : ISerializable { public Employee Manager { get; set; } public string Name { get; set; } public Department() { } public Department( SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context ) { Manager = ( Employee )info.GetValue( "Manager", typeof( Employee ) ); Name = ( string )info.GetValue( "Name", typeof( string ) ); } public void GetObjectData( SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context ) { info.AddValue( "Manager", Manager ); info.AddValue( "Name", Name ); } } [Serializable] class Employee : ISerializable { [NonSerialized] //This does not work [XmlIgnore]//This does not work private Department mDepartment; public Department Department { get { return mDepartment; } set { mDepartment = value; } } public string Name { get; set; } public Employee() { } public Employee( SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context ) { Department = ( Department )info.GetValue( "Department", typeof( Department ) ); Name = ( string )info.GetValue( "Name", typeof( string ) ); } public void GetObjectData( SerializationInfo info, StreamingContext context ) { info.AddValue( "Department", Department ); info.AddValue( "Name", Name ); } } And the test code Department department = new Department(); department.Name = "Dept1"; Employee emp1 = new Employee { Name = "Emp1", Department = department }; department.Manager = emp1; Employee emp2 = new Employee() { Name = "Emp2", Department = department }; IList<Employee> employees = new List<Employee>(); employees.Add( emp1 ); employees.Add( emp2 ); var memoryStream = new MemoryStream(); var formatter = new BinaryFormatter(); formatter.Serialize( memoryStream, employees ); memoryStream.Seek( 0, SeekOrigin.Begin ); IList<Employee> deserialisedEmployees = formatter.Deserialize( memoryStream ) as IList<Employee>; //Works nicely JsonSerializerSettings jsonSS= new JsonSerializerSettings(); jsonSS.TypeNameHandling = TypeNameHandling.Objects; jsonSS.TypeNameAssemblyFormat = FormatterAssemblyStyle.Full; jsonSS.Formatting = Formatting.Indented; jsonSS.ReferenceLoopHandling = ReferenceLoopHandling.Ignore; //This is not working!! //jsonSS.ReferenceLoopHandling = ReferenceLoopHandling.Serialize; //This is also not working!! jsonSS.PreserveReferencesHandling = PreserveReferencesHandling.All; string jsonAll = JsonConvert.SerializeObject( employees, jsonSS ); //Throws stackoverflow exception Edit1: The issue has been reported to Json (http://json.codeplex.com/workitem/23668)

  • Unable to cast lists with Reflection in C#

    - by DrLazer
    I am having a lot of trouble with Reflection in C# at the moment. The app I am writing allows the user to modify the attributes of certain objects using a config file. I want to be able to save the object model (users project) to XML. The function below is called in the middle of a foreach loop, looping through a list of objects that contain all the other objects in the project within them. The idea is, that it works recursively to translate the object model into XML. Dont worry about the call to "Unreal" that just modifes the name of the objects slightly if they contain certain words. private void ReflectToXML(object anObject, XmlElement parentElement) { Type aType = anObject.GetType(); XmlElement anXmlElement = m_xml.CreateElement(Unreal(aType.Name)); parentElement.AppendChild(anXmlElement); PropertyInfo[] pinfos = aType.GetProperties(); //loop through this objects public attributes foreach (PropertyInfo aInfo in pinfos) { //if the attribute is a list Type propertyType = aInfo.PropertyType; if ((propertyType.IsGenericType)&&(propertyType.GetGenericTypeDefinition() == typeof(List<>))) { List<object> listObjects = (aInfo.GetValue(anObject,null) as List<object>); foreach (object aListObject in listObjects) { ReflectToXML(aListObject, anXmlElement); } } //attribute is not a list else anXmlElement.SetAttribute(aInfo.Name, ""); } } If an object attributes are just strings then it should be writing them out as string attributes in the XML. If an objects attributes are lists, then it should recursively call "ReflectToXML" passing itself in as a parameter, thereby creating the nested structure I require that nicely reflect the object model in memory. The problem I have is with the line List<object> listObjects = (aInfo.GetValue(anObject,null) as List<object>); The cast doesn't work and it just returns null. While debugging I changed the line to object temp = aInfo.GetValue(anObject,null); slapped a breakpoint on it to see what "GetValue" was returning. It returns a "Generic list of objects" Surely I should be able to cast that? The annoying thing is that temp becomes a generic list of objects but because i declared temp as a singular object, I can't loop through it because it has no Enumerator. How can I loop through a list of objects when I only have it as a propertyInfo of a class? I know at this point I will only be saving a list of empty strings out anyway, but thats fine. I would be happy to see the structure save out for now. Thanks in advance

  • WPF- Why can't my custom textbox be selected?

    - by highone
    I have this custom textbox that I am working on and I can use it in xaml, but when I run my app I cannot select it or type in it. Here is my code: public class ModdedTextBox : TextBox { private bool selectionStartChangeFromUI; private bool selectionLengthChangeFromUI; private bool selectedTextChangeFromUI; static ModdedTextBox() { DefaultStyleKeyProperty.OverrideMetadata(typeof(ModdedTextBox), new FrameworkPropertyMetadata(typeof(ModdedTextBox))); //this.SelectionChanged += this.OnSelectionChanged; //PropertyDescriptor VerticalOffsetProperty = TypeDescriptor.GetProperties(typeof(ModdedTextBox))["VerticalOffset"]; //VerticalOffsetProperty.AddValueChanged(this, this.OnVerticalOffsetChanged); } public static readonly DependencyProperty BindableSelectionStartProperty = DependencyProperty.Register( "BindableSelectionStart", typeof(int), typeof(ModdedTextBox), new PropertyMetadata(OnBindableSelectionStartChanged)); public static readonly DependencyProperty BindableSelectionLengthProperty = DependencyProperty.Register( "BindableSelectionLength", typeof(int), typeof(ModdedTextBox), new PropertyMetadata(OnBindableSelectionLengthChanged)); public static readonly DependencyProperty BindableSelectedTextProperty = DependencyProperty.Register( "BindableSelectedText", typeof(string), typeof(ModdedTextBox), new PropertyMetadata(OnBindableSelectedTextChanged)); public static readonly DependencyProperty DelayedTextProperty = DependencyProperty.Register( "DelayedText", typeof(string), typeof(ModdedTextBox), new PropertyMetadata(OnDelayedTextChanged)); public int BindableSelectionStart { get { return (int)this.GetValue(BindableSelectionStartProperty); } set { this.SetValue(BindableSelectionStartProperty, value); } } public int BindableSelectionLength { get { return (int)this.GetValue(BindableSelectionLengthProperty); } set { this.SetValue(BindableSelectionLengthProperty, value); } } public string BindableSelectedText { get { return (string)this.GetValue(BindableSelectedTextProperty); } private set { this.SetValue(BindableSelectedTextProperty, value); } } public string DelayedText { get { return (string)this.GetValue(DelayedTextProperty); } private set { this.SetValue(DelayedTextProperty, value); } } private static void OnBindableSelectionStartChanged(DependencyObject dependencyObject, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs args) { var textBox = dependencyObject as ModdedTextBox; if (!textBox.selectionStartChangeFromUI) { int newValue = (int)args.NewValue; textBox.SelectionStart = newValue; } else { textBox.selectionStartChangeFromUI = false; } } private static void OnBindableSelectionLengthChanged(DependencyObject dependencyObject, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs args) { var textBox = dependencyObject as ModdedTextBox; if (!textBox.selectionLengthChangeFromUI) { int newValue = (int)args.NewValue; textBox.SelectionLength = newValue; } else { textBox.selectionLengthChangeFromUI = false; } } private static void OnBindableSelectedTextChanged(DependencyObject dependencyObject, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs args) { var textBox = dependencyObject as ModdedTextBox; if (!textBox.selectedTextChangeFromUI) { string newValue = (string)args.NewValue; textBox.BindableSelectedText = newValue; } else { textBox.selectedTextChangeFromUI = false; } } private static void OnDelayedTextChanged(DependencyObject dependencyObject, DependencyPropertyChangedEventArgs args) { } private void OnSelectionChanged(object sender, RoutedEventArgs e) { if (this.BindableSelectionStart != this.SelectionStart) { this.selectionStartChangeFromUI = true; this.BindableSelectionStart = this.SelectionStart; } if (this.BindableSelectionLength != this.SelectionLength) { this.selectionLengthChangeFromUI = true; this.BindableSelectionLength = this.SelectionLength; } if (this.BindableSelectedText != this.SelectedText) { this.selectedTextChangeFromUI = true; this.BindableSelectedText = this.SelectedText; } } private void OnVerticalOffsetChanged(object sender, EventArgs e) { MessageBox.Show("hello the vertical offset works"); } }

  • Is there an easier way of creating a registry volatile subkey in .net?

    - by Simon
    So far I have the below which is taken from http://www.danielmoth.com/Blog/volatile-registrykey.aspx public static class RegistryHelper { public static RegistryKey CreateVolatileSubKey(RegistryKey rk, string subkey, RegistryKeyPermissionCheck permissionCheck) { var rk2 = rk.GetType(); const BindingFlags bfStatic = BindingFlags.NonPublic | BindingFlags.Static; const BindingFlags bfInstance = BindingFlags.NonPublic | BindingFlags.Instance; rk2.GetMethod("ValidateKeyName", bfStatic).Invoke(null, new object[] { subkey }); rk2.GetMethod("ValidateKeyMode", bfStatic).Invoke(null, new object[] { permissionCheck }); rk2.GetMethod("EnsureWriteable", bfInstance).Invoke(rk, null); subkey = (string)rk2.GetMethod("FixupName", bfStatic).Invoke(null, new object[] { subkey }); if (!(bool)rk2.GetField("remoteKey", bfInstance).GetValue(rk)) { var key = (RegistryKey)rk2.GetMethod("InternalOpenSubKey", bfInstance, null, new[] { typeof(string), typeof(bool) }, null).Invoke(rk, new object[] { subkey, permissionCheck != RegistryKeyPermissionCheck.ReadSubTree }); if (key != null) { rk2.GetMethod("CheckSubKeyWritePermission", bfInstance).Invoke(rk, new object[] { subkey }); rk2.GetMethod("CheckSubTreePermission", bfInstance).Invoke(rk, new object[] { subkey, permissionCheck }); rk2.GetField("checkMode", bfInstance).SetValue(key, permissionCheck); return key; } } rk2.GetMethod("CheckSubKeyCreatePermission", bfInstance).Invoke(rk, new object[] { subkey }); int lpdwDisposition; IntPtr hkResult; var srh = Type.GetType("Microsoft.Win32.SafeHandles.SafeRegistryHandle"); var temp = rk2.GetField("hkey", bfInstance).GetValue(rk); var rkhkey = (SafeHandleZeroOrMinusOneIsInvalid)temp; var getregistrykeyaccess = (int)rk2.GetMethod("GetRegistryKeyAccess", bfStatic, null, new[] { typeof(bool) }, null).Invoke(null, new object[] { permissionCheck != RegistryKeyPermissionCheck.ReadSubTree }); var errorCode = RegCreateKeyEx(rkhkey, subkey, 0, null, 1, getregistrykeyaccess, IntPtr.Zero, out hkResult, out lpdwDisposition); var keyNameField = rk2.GetField("keyName", bfInstance); var rkkeyName = (string)keyNameField.GetValue(rk); if (errorCode == 0 && hkResult.ToInt32() > 0) { var rkremoteKey = (bool)rk2.GetField("remoteKey", bfInstance).GetValue(rk); var hkResult2 = srh.GetConstructor(BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.NonPublic, null, new[] { typeof(IntPtr), typeof(bool) }, null).Invoke(new object[] { hkResult, true }); var key2 = (RegistryKey)rk2.GetConstructor(BindingFlags.Instance | BindingFlags.NonPublic, null, new[] { hkResult2.GetType(), typeof(bool), typeof(bool), typeof(bool), typeof(bool) }, null).Invoke(new[] { hkResult2, permissionCheck != RegistryKeyPermissionCheck.ReadSubTree, false, rkremoteKey, false }); rk2.GetMethod("CheckSubTreePermission", bfInstance).Invoke(rk, new object[] { subkey, permissionCheck }); rk2.GetField("checkMode", bfInstance).SetValue(key2, permissionCheck); if (subkey.Length == 0) { keyNameField.SetValue(key2, rkkeyName); } else { keyNameField.SetValue(key2, rkkeyName + @"\" + subkey); } key2.Close(); return rk.OpenSubKey(subkey, true); } if (errorCode != 0) rk2.GetMethod("Win32Error", bfInstance).Invoke(rk, new object[] { errorCode, rkkeyName + @"\" + subkey }); return null; } [DllImport("advapi32.dll", CharSet = CharSet.Auto)] private static extern int RegCreateKeyEx(SafeHandleZeroOrMinusOneIsInvalid hKey, string lpSubKey, int reserved, string lpClass, int dwOptions, int samDesigner, IntPtr lpSecurityAttributes, out IntPtr hkResult, out int lpdwDisposition); } Which works but is fairly ugly. Is there a better way?
