  • what am I doing wrong? Trying to reinstall Windows 7 starter onto my Acer Aspire One Netbook?

    I have been having some issues with my Netbook so I figured I would reformat it. I downloaded a copy of windows 7 starter, inserted it into my usb dvd drive and started my netbook. I made it as far as, "where do you want to install windows?" and it seems like the computer just freezes. it shows, Disk 0 Partition 1: PQSERVICE 13.0 GB OEM (Reserved) Disk 0 Partition 2: SYSTEM RESERVED 101.0 MB System Disk 0 Partition 3 218.8 GB Primary I cannot click on either of them, What am I doing wrong?

  • Blackberry Won't Sync: Says Processing

    I have a blackberry storm 2 and I have it set up to sync, just like I've done with all the other ones in the company. They pull the address book/contacts from outlook, and aren't synced to an exchange server. I have everything setup and then when I hit synchronize it flashes "processing" the phone shows it trying to sync and then it is done in less than a second. It did warn me that the computer was not supplying enough power to charge the device and it said that I should make sure the drivers are correct. Also, I was warned that the device might not function properly down in the bottom right hand corner. Any ideas? I've uninstalled and reinstalled the blackberry software off the disc.

    BACKGROUND: We have a StarWind NAS that we are currently using for High Availability storage with our Windows network. Starwind has mirrored drives and multiple ip paths, that the Windows Server combines into one HA disk store. QUESTION: How do I accomplish the same thing under Solaris 10? I've looked at ZFS but to document seems to indicate that ZFS wants to do its own raid/mirroring. I can also attach via iSCSI from Solaris and am presented with both drives being served by the Starwind NS. So, how do I configure solaris so that disk M1 and M2 are considered as a single fault tolerant drive?

  • Roaming Profiles: Best Practices

    I want to setup roaming profiles for about 50 users. What is the best way to go about doing this? What are the best practices. I've read about desktops/my Documents being TOO big. How big is too big? We have a few users who keep a lot of media on their machine to listen to throughout the day. I would imagine they have a few gigs of MP3's in their My Documents folder. How do you deal with this? Thanks!

  • How do I take some RAM and use it towards Dedicated video memory for my Nvidia graphics card?

    I have a Nividia GeForce 6150SE nForce 430 graphics card (so it's quite old), it only gets 64MB of dedicated memory by default. I went into the bios and see if I can increase it, but it wouldn't let me. However, from the Nividia control panel I see I have up to 1071MB of total available graphics memory. I'm not sure what that means and I'm not sure how I can harness this memory and use some RAM for my graphics card. Can someone explain if this is possible and if so, how?

    Here is what I want to do. Hit backup and backup all my files to a jump drive. Take files on the road with me and edit them on the jumpdrive with my netbook. Come back to my computer and hit restore and have the files uploaded back to my computer, but I want to be prompted what files have changed and if I want to replace or keep the old file.     Windows 7 (Aero) does not offer an option to easily change the taskbar font size. BACKGROUND: I was using an increased DIP 125%. The problem being that many programs, sad to say, Microsoft's included, don't scale or position properly at other than 100%. I've reset the DPI to 100%, and have been able to customize most of my windows settings for easy reading, except the task bar font size In Summary: There are many ways to change the taskbar font color. I'm looking to increase the actual font size.

  • Recovering an old website

    I have a client with an old website that somebody setup for him long ago. The guy who set it up is unreachable, so how do we go about trying to take it over? A WHOIS lookup got us some contact information, but I don't have great hopes for that (it hasn't been update in quite some time). The nameservers are ns1.theplanet.com and ns2.theplanet.com, and we will try calling them, but I don't expect we'll be able to get much from them. What are our options? Is there a way I can discover the registrar so we can try contacting them as well? EDIT: It would be sufficient if we could get control of the domain name or put in some sort of redirect to the new site. Either hosting was prepaid for quite some time, or someone else is still paying for it, so we don't care about that.

  • Daemon Tools error (0xc0000006)

    I tried to reinstall Windows XP to Windows 7, but I could not install the video card drivers because the driver installation software only works on XP.I have launched the setup program with XP mode. After I installed the setup, I restarted the computer and Windows 7 wasn't booting.But that isn't the problem why I asked this question. The problem is that I have reinstalled my Windows 7 Ultimate to Windows XP SP3 and I wanted to install Dameon Tools.After installation I restarted the PC (as the setup wanted) and when the Daemon Tools launches it shows the error: Application failed to initialize properly (0xc0000006). Click OK to terminate the application.

  • Computer freezes after watching Youtube videos

    I had Windows 7 installed all september. But I installed Windows XP Professional back because my computer couldn't handle the new OS. After first boot I tried to install newest flash player (from Adobe website), but it failed. I had my old setup on USB drive and it worked. I don't know is it important or not. I am watching Youtube videos in my free time (almost every hour). After few days the computer started to freeze when I open a page with the video or close the page with video, not while I watch a video. No BSODs. Nothing in Event viewer. I use Firefox only. When computer freezes the sound wont. If iTunes is playing a radio station or is it another video playing in background, the sound wont freeze. Last few days the mouse wont freeze. Its a strange symptom. If I click few times then the cursor will actually freeze. I just want to know where does this problem come from (hardware - graphics card, old motherboard or it's just some glitch in setups). If it's not graphics card then I will be happy. The graphics card is ATI Radeon HD 4650 - brand new. Catalyst 11.8 installed. Things I have tried: Installed newest flash player after a week (the setup didn't fail this time) Installed latest video drivers Deleting cookies Defragmenting hard drive Using TuneUp utilities for computer cleenup Installed latest Mozilla Firefox Cleaned the PC Changed CPU Fan speed almost to max (just to be sure) Things I haven't tried yet: Didn't try playing videos on other browsers What can I do now?

This should be made independent of the GLabel class. I'd like to know the correct approach to use in solving this problem. I'm not sure what I have so far is good enough (I'm thinking it's too long). Here is the code that I am using: <p:fileUpload id="scriptUpload" widgetVar="importDevicesWidget" fileUploadListener="#{scriptUploadBean.handleFileUpload}" auto="true" label="Choose.." mode="advanced" update=":infoMessages" sizeLimit="8192" allowTypes="/(\.|\/)(txt)$/" onstart="clearInvalidFileMsg();$('#progress').show();" oncomplete="clearInvalidFileMsg();$('#progress').hide();importDevicesDialogWidget.hide()"/> The problem is that it makes no sense for the buttons that appear next to the progress bar for each file to be there as the mode is auto so the upload already started!
