  • command binding for ribbon control

    - by kartik
I'm trying to use the Microsoft ribbon control programatically using C#. Everything is fine but I'm unable to bind the command through the RibbonCommand. Can anyone give me an example of how to do this? My actual code is: Ribbon rbn = new Ribbon(); RibbonTab file = new RibbonTab(); file.Name = "file"; file.Label = "FILE"; RibbonTab edit = new RibbonTab(); edit.Name = "edit"; edit.Label = "Edit"; RibbonGroupPanel rbgp = new RibbonGroupPanel(); RibbonGroup rbg = new RibbonGroup(); RibbonButton rbtn = new RibbonButton(); rbtn.Content = "New"; RibbonCommand rcomnd = new RibbonCommand(); rcomnd.LabelTitle = "NEW"; rcomnd.ToolTipDescription = "THIS IS NEW"; rcomnd.LargeImageSource = imgSource; rcomnd.Execute(rbtn, rbtn); rbtn.IsEnabled = true; //rcomnd.SmallImageSource = imgSource; rcomnd.CanExecute +=new CanExecuteRoutedEventHandler(rcomnd_CanExecute); rcomnd.Executed +=new ExecutedRoutedEventHandler(rcomnd_Executed); CommandBinding cmdb = new CommandBinding(ApplicationCommands.New); cmdb.Command = ApplicationCommands.New; cmdb.Executed +=new ExecutedRoutedEventHandler(cmdb_Executed); CommandBind.Add(cmdb); //rcomnd.Executed += new ExecutedRoutedEventHandler(OnAddNewEntry);*/ rbtn.Click +=new System.Windows.RoutedEventHandler(rbtn_Click); rbtn.Command = rcomnd; But the bindings are not working and the button is not enabled.

  • intercept RelativeSource FindAncestor

    - by Pradeep
I have a WPF application which runs as a excel plugin, it has its visual tree like so Excel ElementHost WPF UserControl WPF ribbon bar control Now any controls sitting on the WPF ribbon bar control are not enabled when the plugin is loaded within excel. See error below System.Windows.Data Error: 4 : Cannot find source for binding with reference 'RelativeSource FindAncestor, AncestorType='System.Windows.Window', AncestorLevel='1''. BindingExpression:Path=IsActive; DataItem=null; target element is 'Ribbon' (Name=''); target property is 'NoTarget' (type 'Object') If I nest the ribbon bar control in a standalone Window(outside excel) it works fine. Is there a way to intercept the FindAncestor call for a Window and wire it to something else.? Note that I cannot change the above binding as it isn't my control.

  • WPF - RibbonControlLibrary not supported with Visual Studio 2010 ?

    - by KroaX
Hi guys, Today i licensed and downloaded the WPF RibbonControlsLibrary from Microsoft which is an extension to the WPF Toolkit. I've read some tutorials to implement an examlpe here When I tried the example is sadly noticed that in XAML i could not access the referenced library. xmlns:ribbon="clr-namespace:Microsoft.Windows.Controls.Ribbon;assembly=RibbonControlsLibrary" <ribbon:Ribbon .... > I found out that the Problem lies within Visual Studio 2010 , because in Visual Studio 2008 everything works fine. Does anyone have a solution for this issue or a workaround to use the library in Visual Studio 2010 ?

  • What's the "proper" way to retrieve a reference to a ribbon object?

    - by Nick
For a VSTO workbook project, is there a best practice for retrieving a reference to the Ribbon object from the ThisWorkbook class? Here's what I'm doing: In my Ribbon class, I created a public method called InvalidateControl(string controlID). I need to call that method from the ThisWorkbook class based on when a certain workbook level event fires. But the only way I can see to "get" a reference to that Ribbon object is to do this... // This is all in the ThisWorkbook class Ribbon ribbon; protected override IRibbonExtensibility CreateRibbonExtensibilityObject() { this.ribbon = new Ribbon(); return this.ribbon; } ...which seems a little smelly. I mean, I have to override CreateRibbonExtensibilityObject() regardless; all I'm doing beyond that is maintaining a local reference to the ribbon so I can call methods against it. But it doesn't feel right. Is there another, better way to get that reference in the ThisWorkbook class? Or is this pretty acceptable? Thanks!

  • OpenGL code to render ribbon diagrams for protein

    - by eipxen
Hey all, I am looking to render ribbon diagrams of proteins using OpenGL and C++. Does anyone know if any open source code for this already exists, or if there are good guides to do this? If not, I'd prefer to figure it out myself ;) but I didn't want to reinvent the wheel, especially if the wheel was free.

  • Ask How-To Geek: Learning the Office Ribbon, Booting to USB with an Old BIOS, and Snapping Windows

    - by Jason Fitzpatrick
You’ve got questions and we’ve got answers. Today we highlight how to master the new Office interface, USB boot a computer with outdated BIOS, and snap windows to preset locations. Learning the New Office Ribbon Dear How-To Geek, I feel silly asking this (in light of how long the new Office interface has been out) but my company finally got around to upgrading from Windows XP and Office 2000 so the new interface it totally new to me. Can you recommend any resources for quickly learning the Office ribbon and the new changes? I feel completely lost after two decades of the old Office interface. Help! Sincerely, Where the Hell is Everything? Dear Where the Hell, We think most people were with you at some point in the last few years. “Where the hell is…” could possibly be the slogan for the new ribbon interface. You could browse through some of the dry tutorials online or even get a weighty book on the topic but the best way to learn something new is to get hands on. Ribbon Hero turns learning the new Office features and ribbon layout into a game. It’s no vigorous round of Team Fortress mind you, but it’s significantly more fun than reading a training document. Check out how to install and configure Ribbon Hero here. You’ll be teaching your coworkers new tricks in no time. Boot via USB with an Old BIOS Dear How-To Geek, I’m trying to repurpose some old computers by updating them with lightweight Linux distros but the BIOS on most of the machines is ancient and creaky. How ancient? It doesn’t even support booting from a USB device! I have a large flash drive that I’ve turned into a master installation tool for jobs like this but I can’t use it. The computers in question have USB ports; they just aren’t recognized during the boot process. What can I do? USB Bootin’ in Boise Dear USB Bootin’, It’s great you’re working to breathe life into old hardware! You’ve run into one of the limitations of older BIOSes, USB was around but nobody was thinking about booting off of it. Fortunately if you have a computer old enough to have that kind of BIOS it’s likely to also has a floppy drive or a CDROM drive. While you could make a bootable CDROM for your application we understand that you want to keep using the master USB installer you’ve made. In light of that we recommend PLoP Boot Manager. Think of it like a boot manager for your boot manager. Using it you can create a bootable floppy or CDROM that will enable USB booting of your master USB drive. Make a CD and a floppy version and you’ll have everything in your toolkit you need for future computer refurbishing projects. Read up on creating bootable media with PLoP Boot Manager here. Snapping Windows to Preset Coordinates Dear How-To Geek, Once upon a time I had a company laptop that came with a little utility that snapped windows to preset areas of the screen. This was long before the snap-to-side features in Windows 7. You could essentially configure your screen into a grid pattern of your choosing and then windows would neatly snap into those grids. I have no idea what it was called or if was anymore than a gimmick from the computer manufacturer, but I’d really like to have it on my new computer! Bend and Snap in San Francisco, Dear Bend and Snap, If we had to guess, we’d guess your company must have had a set of laptops from Acer as the program you’re describing sounds exactly like Acer GridVista. Fortunately for you the application was extremely popular and Acer released it independently of their hardware. If, by chance, you’ve since upgraded to a multiple monitor setup the app even supports multiple monitors—many of the configurations are handy for arranging IM windows and other auxiliary communication tools. Check out our guide to installing and configuring Acer GridVista here for more information. Have a question you want to put before the How-To Geek staff? • CRM2011: Home page ribbon enable rule doesn't work properly

    - by nixjojo
In my lead home page, there is a custom button. The enable rule for that button is: <EnableRule Id="enableruleid"> <SelectionCountRule AppliesTo="SelectedEntity" Minimum="1"></SelectionCountRule> <CustomRule FunctionName="functionname" Library="$Webresource:myjavascript.js"> <CrmParameter Value="SelectedControlSelectedItemIds" /> </CustomRule> </EnableRule> The javascript working fine only for the first time select a record, when you select another record, the javascript doesn't called. For example, I select record A, the button is enabled and it's fine; and then I select record B, the button should be disabled, but it's not, it still enabled. But if I select record B first, the ribbon is disabled as I wish, and then I select record A, the button still disabled.

  • TRibbon's large button's image is not centered...any ideas? easy to demonstrate at design-time.

    - by X-Ray
i'm using delphi 2009 (updates 1, 2, 3, 4). i'm seeing something quite peculiar. the image on the button is not centered in the button when i have a large button with a large glyph! rather than being centered, the left part of the glyph starts at the center of the button. a clue is that when i: go into the action editor and select the action use the ImageIndex combobox in the object inspector, the list is empty (normally i'd see the available images in the combobox). it seems as though there's an image width property i've failed to set or an imagelist not correctly configured. i've expected the glyph on a large button should be 32x32. try the following: paste these components into an empty form add a 32x32 image to the image list set the Action1 imageindex to 0 you'll immediately see what i mean! can anyone tell me why it looks that way? i find it interesting that the ribbon demo app doesn't show this problem. i even tried the same image. thank you! object ActionManager1: TActionManager ActionBars = < item Items = < item Action = Action1 Caption = '&Action1' ImageIndex = 0 CommandProperties.ButtonSize = bsLarge end> ActionBar = RibbonGroup1 end> LargeDisabledImages = img3232 LargeImages = img3232 Left = 376 Top = 184 StyleName = 'Ribbon - Luna' object Action1: TAction Caption = 'Action1' ImageIndex = 0 end end object Ribbon1: TRibbon Left = 0 Top = 0 Width = 693 Height = 147 ActionManager = ActionManager1 Caption = 'Ribbon1' Tabs = < item Caption = 'RibbonPage1' Page = RibbonPage1 end> ExplicitLeft = 232 ExplicitTop = 80 ExplicitWidth = 0 DesignSize = ( 693 147) StyleName = 'Ribbon - Luna' object RibbonPage1: TRibbonPage Left = 0 Top = 54 Width = 692 Height = 93 Caption = 'RibbonPage1' Index = 0 object RibbonGroup1: TRibbonGroup Left = 4 Top = 3 Width = 54 Height = 86 ActionManager = ActionManager1 Caption = 'RibbonGroup1' GroupIndex = 0 end end end object img3232: TImageList Height = 32 Width = 32 Left = 376 Top = 256 end

  • Why doesn't my CreateRibbonExtensibilityObject method get called?

    - by DGGenuine
Hi I've been tinkering around with the two techniques to modify the ribbon with an MS Word addin (Visual Studio 2010, .NET 3.5), a Microsoft.Office.Tools.Ribbon.OfficeRibbon and Microsoft.Office.Core.IRibbonExtensibility. I was hoping to switch between the two in my addin's CreateRibbonExtensibilityObject, but for some reason it is not called now. The documentation says that if an addin implements CreateRibbonExtensibilityObject that it will be called. When I create a fresh project to test doing this very thing, it works. I'd prefer not to abandon my project as-is. Any ideas? Thank you.

  • Bring Office 2003 Menus Back to 2010 with UBitMenu

    - by Matthew Guay
Are you having trouble getting used to the Ribbon interface in Office 2010?  Here’s how you can roll back the clock a bit and bring back the familiar menus and toolbars from 2003. The Office 2007 Ribbon was both praised and criticized.  While many users felt they were more productive with the new interface, others felt frustrated searching for commands they had memorized in older versions of Office.  Now, with Office 2010, the ribbon interface has been brought to every app in the Office suite, and is integrated into many newer programs from Microsoft. If you’re moving from Office 2003, using UBitMenu allows you to add the old familiar menus back along with the new Ribbon interface for an easier learning curve. Also, with the customizability of Office 2010, we can strip away the extra Ribbon tabs to make it more like 2003. Get the 2003 Menus and Toolbars Back in Office 2010 Download UBitMenu (link below), and install as normal.  Make sure all of your Office programs are closed during the installation.  This handy utility is very small, and installed amazingly quick. Open Word, Excel, or PowerPoint and there’s now a new Menu tab beside Home in the Ribbon.  Now you can access all of your favorite old Office commands in the familiar menus, and access many of the newer Office features such as SmartArt.   Here’s a close-up of the toolbar.  Notice that the layout is very similar to that of Word 2003. You can access all of the new Transitions in PowerPoint 2010 from the menu bar.   The menu in Excel even included support for the new PivotTable and PivotCharts Wizard. One problem we noticed was that the toolbars were condensed to a drop-down menu if the Office window was less than 870px wide.  This may be a frustration to users with low-resolution displays, and you might want to use the Office Apps maximized. Get Rid of the Ribbon Now that you’ve got the old menus back, you can get rid of the extra ribbon tabs if you’d like.  Office 2010 lets you customize your ribbon and remove tabs, so let’s get rid of all the other tabs except for our new Menu tab.  In our example we’re using Word, but you can do it in Excel or PowerPoint the same way. Click the File tab and select Options. Alternately, in the Menu tab, select Tools and then Word Options. Select Customize Ribbon on the left sidebar, then uncheck the boxes beside all the ribbon tabs you want to hide on the right.  Click Ok when you’re finished. While you’re at it, you can change the default color scheme as well. Note: The color change will automatically change the color scheme in all of the Office apps, so you’ll only need to do that once. Now the ribbon only has 2 tabs…the File tab for the new Backstage View, and the UBitMenu tab we just installed.  It almost has the appearance Word 2003, but with the new features of Word 2010!  You’ll need to repeat these steps in Excel and PowerPoint if you want to customize their ribbon the same.   Conclusion If you’ve been having a hard time getting used to Office 2010, UBitMenu is a great way to get familiar with the new interface, or simply stay productive with your old tricks.  We do wish it supported the other Office applications like OneNote and Outlook. That doesn’t make it a deal breaker though, it can make the learning curve easier in Word, PowerPoint, and Excel. UBitMenu is free for personal use, and available at a very reasonable price for businesses. If you’re using Office 2007 and not a fan of the Ribbon, UBitMenu works for it as well. • WPF RibbonTextBox Width problem

    - by morsanu
Hey guys, It seems to me that the Ribbon control has a problem with textboxes. I was expecting a common TextBox control behaviour: a fixed width and a visible caret when the text exceeds the width. But the RibbonTextBox control changes its width and when the text exceeds the right limit, the overflow is not visible. I found a hack on a blog that does something like this: var img = SearchButton.Template.FindName("image", SearchButton); if (img != null && img is Image) (img as Image).Visibility = Visibility.Collapsed; var lbl = FindTemplateControl<Label>(SearchText); var border = SearchText.Template.FindName("Bd", SearchText); if (border != null && border is Border && img != null && lbl != null) { (border as Border).Width = SearchText.ActualWidth - (((Image)img).ActualWidth + lbl.ActualWidth); } but I reallly don't want to do such a workaround. Is there any other simpler way to achieve simple TextBox behaviour?

  • geom_ribbon doesn't work - Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : object 'variable' not found

    - by Marciszka
    I try to add a geom_ribbon object to my ggplot2 plot. In my data frame, I have an NA values that (I guess) may cause a problem. This is a reproducible example of data drame I have: base <- c(1:10, rep(NA, 10)) output1 <- c(rep(NA, 9), 10 - 0:10) output2 <- c(rep(NA, 9), 10 + 0:10) xaxis <- 1:20 df <- data.frame(xaxis, base, output1, output2) df xaxis base output1 output2 1 1 1 NA NA 2 2 2 NA NA 3 3 3 NA NA 4 4 4 NA NA 5 5 5 NA NA 6 6 6 NA NA 7 7 7 NA NA 8 8 8 NA NA 9 9 9 NA NA 10 10 10 10 10 11 11 NA 9 11 12 12 NA 8 12 13 13 NA 7 13 14 14 NA 6 14 15 15 NA 5 15 16 16 NA 4 16 17 17 NA 3 17 18 18 NA 2 18 19 19 NA 1 19 20 20 NA 0 20 And my attempt to plot a ggplot2 object with a geom_ribbon: dfm <- melt(df, id=1) ggplot(dfm, aes(x = xaxis, y = value, colour = variable)) + geom_line(aes(group=variable)) + geom_ribbon(data=df, aes(group = 1, ymin=output1, ymax=output2)) And, eventually, I got an error I cannot deal with: Error in eval(expr, envir, enclos) : object 'variable' not found Thank ypu in advance for any suggestions.

  • In Outlook 2010, can you add "Categories" to the "New Email" Ribbon?

    - by Jeff
I couldn't figure out how to do this in Outlook 2007, and I was hoping I could do it in Outlook 2010... I want the ability to quickly apply a category when composing a new email (typically a "Waiting For..." category) for things that need a response. It is possible to apply a category by clicking the "Options" ribbon, then the little arrow under the More Options section - but why can't I get the nice big "Categories" drop-down that's available in the "Tags" section of the main Outlook window. There are about a kabillion commands in the "Customize Ribbon" dialog box for the New Mail window, but I couldn't find anything about Categories. Should I just give up?

  • Can I turn a 2D image into something like a ribbon without 3D Tools?

    - by Michael Stum
I have a picture that's very long and not very tall. I want to create a graphic like the one below, but with my picture as the "texture". Can Photoshop do something like that? I'd like to avoid to spin up a 3D Program because then I need to render it, get the image out of it and into Photoshop. They seem to have added 3D Functionality into CS5, I just never looked at it. Obvious question after that: What would the backside look like? Are there other applications that can do something like that in a simple way?

  • JDeveloper 11g R1 (11.1.1.4.0) - New Features on ADF Desktop Integration Explained

    - by juan.ruiz
One of the areas that introduced many new features on the latest release (11.1.1.4.0)  of JDeveloper 11g R1 is ADF Desktop integration - in this article I’ll provide an overview of these new features. New ADF Desktop Integration Ribbon in Excel - After installing the ADF desktop integration add-in and depending on the mode in which you open the desktop integration workbook, the ADF Desktop integration ribbon for design time and runtime are displayed as a separate tab within Excel. In previous version the ADF Desktop integration environment used to be placed inside the add-ins tab. Above you can see both, design time ribbon as well as runtime ribbon. On the design time ribbon you can manage the workbook and worksheet properties, worksheet component properties, diagnostics, execution and publication of the workbook. The runtime version of the ribbon is totally customizable and represents what it used to be the runtime menu on the spreadsheet, in this ribbon you can include all the operations and actions that could be executed by the end user while working with the spreadsheet data. Diagnostics - A very important aspect for developers is how to debug or verify the interactions of the client with the server, for that ADF desktop integration has provided since day one a series of diagnostics tools. In this release the diagnostics tools are more visible and are really easy to configure. You can access the client console while testing the workbook, or you can simple dump all the messages to a log file – having the ability of setting the output level for both. Security - There are a number of enhancements on security but the one with more impact for developers is tha security now is optional when using ADF Desktop Integration. Until this version every time that you wanted to work with ADFdi it was a must that the application was previously secured. In this release security is optional which means that if you have previously defined security on your application, then you must secure the ADFdi servlet as explained in one of my previous (ADD LINK) posts. In the other hand, if but the time that you start working with ADFdi you have not defined security, you can test and publish your workbooks without adding security. Support for Continuous Integration - In this release we have added tooling for continuous integration building. in the ADF desktop integration space, the concept translates to adding functionality that developers can use to publish ADFdi workbooks as part of their entire application build. For that purpose, we have a publish tool that can be easily invoke from an ANT task such that all the design time workbooks are re-published into the latest version of the application building process. Key Column - At runtime, on any worksheet containing editable tables you will notice a new additional column called the key column. The purpose of this column is to make the end user aware that all rows on the table need to be selected at the time of sorting. The users cannot alter the value of this column. From the developers points of view there are no steps required in order to have the key column included into the worksheets. Installation and Creation of New Workbooks - Both use cases can be executed now directly from JDeveloper. As part of the Tools menu options the developer can install the ADF desktop integration designer. Also, creating new workbooks that previously was done through that convert tool shipped with JDeveloper is now automatic done from the New Gallery. Creating a new ADFdi workbook adds metadata information information to the Excel workbook so you can work in design time. Other Enhancements Support for Excel 2010 and the ADF components ready-only enabled don’t allow to change its value – the cell in Excel is automatically protected, this could cause confusion among customers of previous releases.
