  • SMS gateway with a "from" parameter

    Hello, I am programming a mobile app which send sms. I need a gateway that let me put a "from" parameter. On many gateways, I can only subscribe, put my mobile phone number as the sender after a verification process. The main problem is that the phone number verification is only available for my and not for my users. My customers can send an sms but the receiver does not see their mobile phone number in the "from" field. Do you know a good gateway which support that (in an automated way) ?     I'm looking for an SMS gateway that has the following criteria: Supports sending from short codes Opt-in capabilities for end-user (will require user to opt in before sending message) Has a clean API, preferably an XML/ REST API, although SOAP is fine The cheaper the better Honestly, I keep searching and searching all permutations of "SMS Gateway API" etc... on Google and I can't find any great services that can support all of these criteria. There are a lot of really SEO optimized sites and I can't tell which of them are legit. I'm looking for something that will be easy and quick to implement, and none of my colleagues have any recommendations. What APIs have you used (preferably with PHP) that have gotten this job done? Which services have been the most pleasant to deal with, both technically and support-wise? Update: Will be sending primarily (probably solely) in the US.

    Hello, I want to build an app that send SMS to people. However, I want my users to know that the SMS comes from the app and nothing else so they can't fake it. Is there a way to guarantee that the sender ID is unique to my app? It seems that sending a SMS by phone is with a unique SENDER ID for each phone number. But, from what I read, I don't think it is the case when sending a SMS through a web gateway. Is this correct? I am not an expert in mobile phone security. Of course, I am willing to pay the price for a unique sender id, if such thing is possible. Regards, Pascal

    I'm trying to write the next function: 1) Send SMS to a service number 2) Read the response SMS content (the service's auto sent-back message that tells me if I succeed/failed to turn on the service) 3) Delete the service's auto-sent SMS I know how to do the first step, and I should be able to do the second with both: getMessageBody () getOriginatingAddress () but: 1) how can I refer the last incoming message to use the above functions? 2) how can I delete that specific message?     Without accessing private API's to get Content URI's, etc. for SMS, how are we expected to query this data? I am currently in the process of writing my own SMS app and I want to stay as compatible as possible. Without storing the information myself in my own database (such that I can store the text messages so that other programs can access the data when/if they delete my app) and without using private API's how the heck are we suppose to query SMS data?

How i can update message but leave old message date? I have gone through many queries and answers related to that and finally added the code for that as below. When the code tries to execute sending some text message to the particular mobile number, it doesn't send and throws exception as "blocking operation not permitted on event dispatch thread".   • Sending SMS programmatically in 1.5 on CDMA device

    I am developing an application that relies heavily on sending SMS programmatically. I followed the examples released after 1.6 that demonstrate how to use an abstract class to implement sending for 1.5 and 1.6+. I started getting complaints from some users about how it appears as though SMS should be sent but they are in fact not. It took be a while to realize what was going on, the one 1.5 test device I have is GSM. Of course it must be because the Sprint Hero is CDMA (running 1.5). Regardless of message size I use the general form of: divideMessage() and sendMultipartTextMessage(destinationAddress, null, parts, null, null) How can I successfully send an SMS in this case? Can I call sendTextMessage() a number of times? Also, I tried unsuccessfully to find the source for the Hero's Messenger/Conversations package or equivalent, if anyone knows where to find that that would be great.
