  • FILE Type Not Recognized in MFC

    - by Chicko Bueno
I'm using FILE type in my MFC project but after compiled, it shows the following errors: Error 23 error C4430: missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int Error 24 error C4430: missing type specifier - int assumed. Note: C++ does not support default-int Error 22 error C2146: syntax error : missing ';' before identifier 'm_pFileW' Those errors are referring to this code: FILE *m_pFileW; Did I missing any library header to use FILE syntax? Do I need to use different approach and replace FILE syntax? This errors are only generated when I placed it into my MFC project. This is not happening in C++ Console. Please help. Thank you.

  • 2D Array of 2D Arrays (C# / XNA) [on hold]

    - by Lemoncreme
I want to create a 2D array that contains many other 2D arrays. The problem is I'm not quite sure what I'm doing but this is the initialization code I have: int[,][,] chunk = new int[64, 64][32, 32]; For some reason Visual Studio doesn't like this and says that it's and 'invalid rank specifier'. Also, I'm not sure how to use the nested arrays once I've declared them... Some help and some insight, please?

  • MAMP + Python MySQLDB - trouble installing

I'm currently running the latest version of MAMP on my Snow Leopard OSX, and I'm trying to install MySQLDB. Downloaded: MySQL-python-1.2.3c1 I went into the setup_posix.py and adjusted the location of the mysql_config to the one in MAMP: mysql_config.path = "/Applications/MAMP/Library/bin/mysql_config" When trying to build I get the error below. • Explicit Type Conversion and Multiple Simple Type Specifiers

    - by James McNellis
To value initialize an object of type T, one would do something along the lines of one of the following: T x = T(); T x((T())); My question concerns types specified by a combination of simple type specifiers, e.g., unsigned int: unsigned int x = unsigned int(); unsigned int x((unsigned int())); Visual C++ 2008 and Intel C++ Compiler 11.1 accept both of these without warnings; Comeau 4.3.10.1b2 and g++ 3.4.5 (which is, admittedly, not particularly recent) do not. According to the C++ standard (C++03 5.2.3/2, expr.type.conv): The expression T(), where T is a simple-type-specifier (7.1.5.2) for a non-array complete object type or the (possibly cv-qualified) void type, creates an rvalue of the specified type, which is value-initialized 7.1.5.2 says, "the simple type specifiers are," and follows with a list that includes unsigned and int. Therefore, given that in 5.2.3/2, "simple-type-specifier" is singular, and unsigned and int are two type specifiers, are the examples above that use unsigned int invalid? (and, if so, the followup is, is it incorrect for Microsoft and Intel to support said expressions?) This question is more out of curiosity than anything else; for all of the types specified by a combination of multiple simple type specifiers, value initialization is equivalent to zero initialization. (This question was prompted by comments in response to this answer to a question about initialization).

  • Are PyArg_ParseTuple() "s" format specifiers useful in Python 3.x C API?

    - by Craig McQueen
I'm trying to write a Python C extension that processes byte strings, and I have something basically working for Python 2.x and Python 3.x. For the Python 2.x code, near the start of my function, I currently have a line: if (!PyArg_ParseTuple(args, "s#:in_bytes", &src_ptr, &src_len)) ... I notice that the s# format specifier accepts both Unicode strings and byte strings. I really just want it to accept byte strings and reject Unicode. For Python 2.x, this might be "good enough"--the standard hashlib seems to do the same, accepting Unicode as well as byte strings. However, Python 3.x is meant to clean up the Unicode/byte string mess and not let the two be interchangeable. So, I'm surprised to find that in Python 3.x, the s format specifiers for PyArg_ParseTuple() still seem to accept Unicode and provide a "default encoded string version" of the Unicode. This seems to go against the principles of Python 3.x, making the s format specifiers unusable in practice. Is my analysis correct, or am I missing something? Looking at the implementation for hashlib for Python 3.x (e.g. see md5module.c, function MD5_update() and its use of GET_BUFFER_VIEW_OR_ERROUT() macro) I see that it avoids the s format specifiers, and just takes a generic object (O specifier) and then does various explicit type checks using the GET_BUFFER_VIEW_OR_ERROUT() macro. Is this what we have to do?

  • C++ from SpeakHere in iPhone app

Hi guys, I've made a template app where I've grabbed the recording part of the SpeakHere example and removed the file handling part, but I'm struggeling to get the C++ part of the app working right. As soon as it enters the C++ class, it gets syntax errors. If I don't import the header files from C++ (and then of course don't use the code) into my Objective C classes, all works fine. I cannot see the difference between how I'm doing it and the example is doing it. Can you see the difference? I've posted the entire code here: http://github.com/niklassaers/testFFT The build errors I get are: testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:91:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:91: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'CAStreamBasicDescription' testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:298:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:298: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '<' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:299:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:299: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '==' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:301:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:301: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '!=' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:302:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:302: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '<=' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:303:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:303: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '>=' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:304:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:304: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before '>' token testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:307:0 testFFT/CAStreamBasicDescription.h:307: error: expected ';', ',' or ')' before '&' token testFFT/CAXException.h:65:0 testFFT/CAXException.h:65: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'CAX4CCString' testFFT/CAXException.h:87:0 testFFT/CAXException.h:87: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'CAXException' testFFT/AQRecorder.h:59:0 testFFT/AQRecorder.h:59: error: expected '=', ',', ';', 'asm' or '__attribute__' before 'AQRecorder' testFFT/RecorderLink.h:57:0 testFFT/RecorderLink.h:57: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'AQRecorder' testFFT/RecorderLink.h:62:0 testFFT/RecorderLink.h:62: error: expected specifier-qualifier-list before 'AQRecorder' Any idea what's going on here? • va_arg with pointers

    - by Yktula
I want to initialize a linked list with pointer arguments like so: /* * Initialize a linked list using variadic arguments * Returns the number of structures initialized */ int init_structures(struct structure *first, ...) { struct structure *s; unsigned int count = 0; va_list va; va_start(va, first); for (s = first; s != NULL; s = va_arg(va, (struct structure *))) { if ((s = malloc(sizeof(struct structure))) == NULL) { perror("malloc"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } count++; } va_end(va); return count; } The problem is that clang errors type name requires a specifier or qualifier at va_arg(va, (struct structure *)), and says that the type specifier defaults to int. It also notes instantiated form at (struct structure *) and struct structure *. This, what seems to be getting assigned to s is int (struct structure *). It compiles fine when parentheses are removed from (struct structure *), but the structures that are supposed to be initialized are inaccessible. Why is int assumed when parentheses are around the type argument passed to va_arg? How can I fix this?

Hello everyone, My following code has compile error, Error 1 Cannot implicitly convert type 'TestArray1.Foo[,,*]' to 'TestArray1.Foo[][][]' C:\Users\lma\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\TestArray1\TestArray1\Program.cs 17 30 TestArray1 Does anyone have any ideas? Here is my whole code, I am using VSTS 2008 + Vista 64-bit. namespace TestArray1 { class Foo { } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Foo[][][] foos = new Foo[1, 1, 1]; return; } } } EDIT: version 2. I have another version of code, but still has compile error. Any ideas? Error 1 Invalid rank specifier: expected ',' or ']' C:\Users\lma\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\TestArray1\TestArray1\Program.cs 17 41 TestArray1 Error 2 Invalid rank specifier: expected ',' or ']' C:\Users\lma\Documents\Visual Studio 2008\Projects\TestArray1\TestArray1\Program.cs 17 44 TestArray1 namespace TestArray1 { class Foo { } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Foo[][][] foos = new Foo[1][1][1]; return; } } } EDIT: version 3. I think I want to have a jagged array. And after learning from the fellow guys. Here is my code fix, and it compile fine in VSTS 2008. What I want is a jagged array, and currently I need to have only one element. Could anyone review whether my code is correct to implement my goal please? namespace TestArray1 { class Foo { } class Program { static void Main(string[] args) { Foo[][][] foos = new Foo[1][][]; foos[0] = new Foo[1][]; foos[0][0] = new Foo[1]; foos[0][0][0] = new Foo(); return; } } } thanks in advance, George

  • Function returning pointer to struct

    - by GammaGuy
I am having some issues with code that is returning a pointer to a struct declared inside a class. Here is my code so far: SortedList.h #ifndef SORTEDLIST_H #define SORTEDLIST_H class SortedList{ public: SortedList(); ... private: struct Listnode { Student *student; Listnode *next; }; static Listnode *copyList (Listnode *L); }; #endif SortedList.cpp #include "SortedList.h" ... // Here is where the problem lies Listnode SortedList::*copyList(Listnode *L) { return 0; // for NULL } Apparently, the copy list method wont compile. I am using Microsoft Visual Studio and the compiler tells me that "Listnode" is unidentified. • Confused Why I am getting C1010 error?

    - by bluepixel
I have three files: Main, slist.h and slist.cpp can be seen at http://forums.devarticles.com/c-c-help-52/confused-why-i-am-getting-c2143-and-c1010-error-259574.html I'm trying to make a program where main reads the list of student names from a file (roster.txt) and inserts all the names in a list in ascending order. This is the full class roster list (notCheckedIN). From here I will read all students who have come to write the exams, each checkin will transfer their name to another list (in ascending order) called present. The final product is notCheckedIN will contain a list of all those students that did not write the exam and present will contain the list of all students who wrote the exam Main File: // Exam.cpp : Defines the entry point for the console application. #include "stdafx.h" #include "iostream" #include "iomanip" #include "fstream" #include "string" #include "slist.h" using namespace std; void OpenFile(ifstream&); void GetClassRoster(SortList&, ifstream&); void InputStuName(SortList&, SortList&); void UpdateList(SortList&, SortList&, string); void Print(SortList&, SortList&); const string END_DATA = "EndData"; int main() { ifstream roster; SortList notCheckedIn; //students present SortList present; //student absent OpenFile(roster); if(!roster) //Make sure file is opened return 1; GetClassRoster(notCheckedIn, roster); //insert the roster list into the notCheckedIn list InputStuName(present, notCheckedIn); Print(present, notCheckedIn); return 0; } void OpenFile(ifstream& roster) //Precondition: roster is pointing to file containing student anmes //Postcondition:IF file does not exist -> exit { string fileName = "roster.txt"; roster.open(fileName.c_str()); if(!roster) cout << "***ERROR CANNOT OPEN FILE :"<< fileName << "***" << endl; } void GetClassRoster(SortList& notCheckedIN, ifstream& roster) //Precondition:roster points to file containing list of student last name // && notCheckedIN is empty //Postcondition:notCheckedIN is filled with the names taken from roster.txt in ascending order { string name; roster >> name; while(roster) { notCheckedIN.Insert(name); roster >> name; } } void InputStuName(SortList& present, SortList& notCheckedIN) //Precondition: present list is empty initially and notCheckedIN list is full //Postcondition: repeated prompting to enter stuName // && notCheckedIN will delete all names found in present // && present will contain names present // && names not found in notCheckedIN will report Error { string stuName; cout << "Enter last name (Enter EndData if none to Enter): "; cin >> stuName; while(stuName!=END_DATA) { UpdateList(present, notCheckedIN, stuName); } } void UpdateList(SortList& present, SortList& notCheckedIN, string stuName) //Precondition:stuName is assigned //Postcondition:IF stuName is present, stuName is inserted in present list // && stuName is removed from the notCheckedIN list // ELSE stuName does not exist { if(notCheckedIN.isPresent(stuName)) { present.Insert(stuName); notCheckedIN.Delete(stuName); } else cout << "NAME IS NOT PRESENT" << endl; } void Print(SortList& present, SortList& notCheckedIN) //Precondition: present and notCheckedIN contains a list of student Names present/not present //Postcondition: content of present and notCheckedIN is printed { cout << "Candidates Present" << endl; present.Print(); cout << "Candidates Absent" << endl; notCheckedIN.Print(); } Header File: //Specification File: slist.h //This file gives the specifications of a list abstract data type //List items inserted will be in order //Class SortList, structured type used to represent an ADT using namespace std; const int MAX_LENGTH = 200; typedef string ItemType; //Class Object (class instance) SortList. • Ogre3D, OGRE_NEW gives editor errors

    - by automaticoo
Hello Game Developers, I am trying to get more experienced with OGRE3D and I am following the basic tutorials on the website. All the code samples compile just fine. The first time I encountered a "error" was in Basic Tutorurial 3. The code line where visual studio says something is not right is : mTerrainGroup = OGRE_NEW Ogre::TerrainGroup(mSceneMgr, Ogre::Terrain::ALIGN_X_Z, 513, 12000.0f); Visual studio compiles this line but it shows a ugly red line beneath it and on mouse hover it says "#define OGRE_NEW new (FILE, LINE, FUNCTION) Error: no instance of overloaded 'operator new' matches the argument list" or if I mouse hover over Ogre::TerrainGlobalOptions() it says "Error: expected a type specifier". I searched on google but couldn't find my answer. I got about a year c++ experience but that was mainly with the WinSock libarys. Thanks in advance.

  • Will duplicate international (i18n) content hinder SEO rankings?

    - by Rhys
Google clearly states that duplicate content within a single, or multiple, domains is not advised. This is understood, but I am not sure of any exceptions for sites with region-specific content that is often replicated across locales. For example, a site's /en-us/about page could be identical to /en-uk/about, whereas most likely /en-ja/about is unique. Are GYM smart enough to understand that the initial URL depth is a locale specifier? Is there any robots.txt or header, etc, trickery that I should include to outline the site's international structure?
