  • C# manipulating video

    i want to take a folder of pictures, and turn it into a slideshow video with music in the background. i have no idea how to do this, or where to get help, cos this isnt the kind of thing you can search in google. idk if there are api's for it, or if it can even be done in C#. maybe ill have to move the project to C++ or something, but first i need to know where the hell to start. thanks.

    What's the best way to rip a Blu-ray disc to an Xbox 360 compatible format, while preferably maintaining surround sound and as little video encoding as possible? As far as I can tell, the 360 technically supports both AVC and VC-1 (though if at those bit rates is questionable), so I'm kind of hoping that you could do it without actually re-encoding the video at all and, instead, just processing the audio and the re-muxing everything together in a new file.

    I tried to run it from total commander, I tried to make a link to it /media/DATA/#TO_BACKUP/_MUSIC/MUSIC2/Black Eyed Peas - The Time (Dirty Bit).avi but it says Failed to execute child process "/media/DATA/" (Permission denied) Opening the full location from MediaPlayer does not work (open location) Location not found I can open it slowly by navigating in the slow file open dialog, but I would like to open it from totalcmd or by created link or by passing full location. P.S. Before that I have opened the DATA Partition.

    Not sure how specifically to word this... I'm wondering if there's any way to take a video stream from one application, for example VLC Media Player, and present that video stream to other applications as a video input source. For example, could I broadcast a video file from my hard disk to a website that allows video conferencing using a Flash applet? Basically, I'm looking for something like Soundflower, but for video streams. Is this possible? Tags, title, question re-wording suggestions welcomed -- I'm not sure how to properly describe this. Thanks!

    I am trying to insert an audio channel with a video: first of all I extract the audio from the original video for processing: ffmpeg -i lotr.mp4 lotr.wav I then extract all frames for later processing too: ffmpeg -i lotr.mp4 -f image2 %d.jpg When done processing audio and video streams, I try to create the video ffmpeg -f image2 -r 15 -i %d.jpg new.mp4 then merge with the audio: ffmpeg -i new.mp4 -i lotr.wav -map 0:0 -map 1:0 new_w_audio.mp4 Result: CPU activity = 100%, the process hangs and never returns.     I would like to backup an ASF video stream with the time stamp (I mean the original recording date/time) on the output stream ? Usage I convert / store my video using the mkv format (Matroska) with libx264 (video) and aac (audio) codecs. Assume the IP camera webcam user account is account, the password password $ ffmpeg -i http://admin:alpha1237@webcam/videostream.asf -c:v libx264 -s 768X432 -crf 13 -b:v 2500K -pix_fmt yuv420p -c:a libfdk_aac output.mkv This works fine on a tenvis JPT3815W camera How to I need to get the video timestamp available for display as a subtitle or other meta data field managed by standard video players, and ideally to be able to hide it or not during video reading.   • Monitor flashes black when starting video files, opening folders with video files

    My entire monitor flashes black for a second or so when starting any video file. It does the same thing when closing the file. It also does this when opening a folder that has video files and a thumbnail view, or when I do anything that presumably accesses the video stream inside a video file. It happens in VLC and Windows Media Player, though it occurs to me certain video editors I have like avidemux and virtualdub don't have that issue when opening video files... It also does not happen when watching flash-based videos on web sites. It doesn't seem to happen when Quicktime. I went through and uninstalled any extraneous programs a week or so ago and didn't see any change. I also updated the graphics card driver. What can I do to troubleshoot/fix this?

  • How relevant is UTF-7 when it comes to parsing emails?

    I recently implemented incoming emails for an application and boy, did I open the gates of hell? Since then every other day an email arrives that makes the app fail in a different way. One of those things is emails encoded as UTF-7. Most emails come as ASCII, some of the Latin encodings, or thankfully, UTF-8. Hotmail error messages (like email address doesn't exist or quota exceeded) seem to come as UTF-7. Unfortunately, UTF-7 is not an encoding Ruby understands: > "hello world".encode("utf-8", "utf-7") Encoding::ConverterNotFoundError: code converter not found (UTF-7 to UTF-8) > Encoding::UTF_7 => #<Encoding:UTF-7 (dummy)> My application doesn't crash, it actually handles the email quite well, but it does send me a notification about the potential error. I spent some time googling and I can't find anyone that implemented the conversion, at least not as a Ruby 1.9.3 Encoding::Converter. So, my question is, since I never got an email with actual content, from an actual person, in UTF-7, how relevant is that encoding? can I safely ignore it?

  • PHP: Detect encoding and make everything UTF-8

    Hello! I'm reading out lots of texts from various RSS feeds and inserting them into my database. Of course, there are several different character encodings used in the feeds, e.g. UTF-8 and ISO-8859-1. Unfortunately, there are sometimes problems with the encodings of the texts. Example: 1) The "ß" in "Fußball" should look like this in my database: "Ÿ". If it is a "Ÿ", it is displayed correctly. 2) Sometimes, the "ß" in "Fußball" looks like this in my database: "ß". Then it is displayed wrongly, of course. 3) In other cases, the "ß" is saved as a "ß" - so without any change. Then it is also displayed wrongly. What can I do to avoid the cases 2 and 3? How can I make everything the same encoding, preferably UTF-8? When must I use utf8_encode(), when must I use utf8_decode() (it's clear what the effect is but when must I use the functions?) and when must I do nothing with the input? Can you help me and tell me how to make everything the same encoding? Perhaps with the function mb-detect-encoding()? Can I write a function for this? So my problems are: 1) How to find out what encoding the text uses 2) How to convert it to UTF-8 - whatever the old encoding is Thanks in advance! EDIT: Would a function like this work? function correct_encoding($text) { $current_encoding = mb_detect_encoding($text, 'auto'); $text = iconv($current_encoding, 'UTF-8', $text); return $text; } I've tested it but it doesn't work.   • Extracting and re-combining audio from a video

    I'm fed up with Vegas, Premiere, Pinnacle, SoundForge and all of the other editors I've tried. I'm trying to modify the audio of an AVI file, but all of the editors I've tried insist on re-encoding the video when I save the changes, and either reduce the quality or take hours. Is there a way to just extract the audio stream from a video with ffmpeg, edit it in an audio editor and then recombine the saved changes with the video?
