  • Accessing Yahoo realtime stock quotes

    - by DVK
    There's a fairly easy way of retrieving 15-minute delayed quotes off of Yahoo! Finance web site ("quotes.csv" API). However, so far I was unable to find any info on how to access real-time quotes. The hang-ups with real-time quotes are: Only available to logged-in user No API Non-obvious how to scrape the info - I'm somewhat convinced they are placed on the page by some weird Ajax call. So I was wondering if anyone had managed to develop a publically available solution to retrieve real-time quotes for a stock from Yahoo! Finance. Notes: Implementation language/framework need is flexible but Perl or Excel is highly preferred. Assume that security is not an issue - I'm willing to supply yahoo userid and pasword, even in cleartext. I'm not 100% hung up on Yahoo - they are merely the only provider of free realtime stock quotes I'm familiar with. if the same thing can be done with Google Finance, I'd be just as happy. This is for a personal project, so scalability/fault tolerance/etc... are not important. I'm looking for a "do the whole retrieval" library ideally, but if I'm pointed to partial solutions (e.g. how to retrieve info from Yahoo's user-logged-in pages; how to scrape realtime quotes from Yahoo's page) I can fill in the blanks. I saw Finance::YahooQuote but it does not seem to allow you to supply log-in information and appears to use the lagging quotes.csv API Thanks!

  • Using named pipes in Rails

    - by FancyDancy
    I need to read and write some data through named pipes. I have tested it in a simple Ruby app, and it works nice. But I dont know, where should i put it in my Rails app? I have heard about Rake tasks, but i don't sure, is it right solution. I need to open a pipe-file, and listen to data. If there is any, i need to process it and make a DB-query. Then, write some data to another pipe. I know, how it works, but the only problem - how to run it with Rails? Give me some examples, please.

  • Forking with Pipes

    - by Luke
    Hello I have tried to do fork() and piping in main and it works perfectly fine but when I try to implement it in a function for some reason I don't get any output, this is my code: void cmd(int **pipefd,int count,int type, int last); int main(int argc, char *argv[]) { int pipefd[3][2]; int i, total_cmds = 3,count = 0; int in = 1; for(i = 0; i < total_cmds;i++){ pipe(pipefd[count++]); cmd(pipefd,count,i,0); } /*Last Command*/ cmd(pipefd,count,i,1); exit(EXIT_SUCCESS); } void cmd(int **pipefd,int count,int type, int last){ int child_pid,i,i2; if ((child_pid = fork()) == 0) { if(count == 1){ dup2(pipefd[count-1][1],1); /*first command*/ } else if(last!=0){ dup2(pipefd[count - 2][0],0); /*middle commands*/ dup2(pipefd[count - 1][1],1); } else if(last == 1){ dup2(pipefd[count - 1][0],0); /*last command*/ } for(i = 0; i < count;i++){/*close pipes*/ for(i2 = 0; i2 < 2;i2++){ close(pipefd[i][i2]); }} if(type == 0){ execlp("ls","ls","-al",NULL); } else if(type == 1){ execlp("grep","grep",".bak",NULL); } else if(type==2){ execl("/usr/bin/wc","wc",NULL); } else if(type ==3){ execl("/usr/bin/wc","wc","-l",NULL); } perror("exec"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } else if (child_pid < 0) { perror("fork"); exit(EXIT_FAILURE); } } I checked the file descriptors and it is opening the right ones, not sure what the problem could be..

  • Yahoo Webmail - Garbled Quote Text

    - by baultista
    I've encountered a very strange problem when trying to reply to e-mail via my Yahoo Web Mail from a family member's computer. She received an e-mail from a client who is using Microsoft Outlook. When I receive the message it looks perfectly fine in my browser and I can read it. However, when I try to reply to the e-mail the quoted text looks as such: > #yiv9181642880 p.yiv9181642880msonormal1114, #yiv9181642880 > li.yiv9181642880msonormal1114, #yiv9181642880 > div.yiv9181642880msonormal1114 > {margin-right:0in;margin-left:0in;font-size:12.0pt;} > #yiv9181642880 p.yiv9181642880msoacetate1114, #yiv9181642880 > li.yiv9181642880msoacetate1114, #yiv9181642880 > div.yiv9181642880msoacetate1114 > {margin-right:0in;margin-left:0in;font-size:12.0pt;} > #yiv9181642880 p.yiv9181642880emailquote1114, #yiv9181642880 > li.yiv9181642880emailquote1114, #yiv9181642880 > div.yiv9181642880emailquote1114 > {margin-right:0in;margin-left:0in;font-size:12.0pt;} > #yiv9181642880 p.yiv9181642880msochpdefault1114, > #yiv9181642880 li.yiv9181642880msochpdefault1114, > #yiv9181642880 div.yiv9181642880msochpdefault1114 > {margin-right:0in;margin-left:0in;font-size:12.0pt;} > #yiv9181642880 p.yiv9181642880msonormal53, #yiv9181642880 > li.yiv9181642880msonormal53, #yiv9181642880 > div.yiv9181642880msonormal53 > {margin-right:0in;margin-left:0in;font-size:12.0pt;} It's the strangest thing. It doesn't happen with all e-mails except this particular one. At a glance it almost looks like raw CSS code that's being displayed, but I really can't understand why. So far I have tried the following: Try a different browser, both IE11 and Google Chrome Check the browser encoding settings Check Yahoo Web Mail's encoding/font settings My only other guess is that the client used some weird font or formatting on the e-mail that is throwing the message body out of sync. Unfortunately for my family member, she is a contractor working with a medium-sized company that refuses to provide her with a domain e-mail address, so she is forced to conduct business this way. Simply asking the sender to use a more widely supported font wouldn't be an acceptable solution here. Any thoughts?

  • Tracking iPhone on Yahoo Web Analytics using ASIHTTPRequest

    - by Mads Mobæk
    I'm trying to track an event in my app using Yahoo Web Analytics. The code I am using looks like ASIHTTPRequest *yahooTrack = [ASIHTTPRequest requestWithURL: [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://s.analytics.yahoo.com/p.pl?a=xxxxxxxxxxxxx&js=no&b=yyyyyyyyyyyy&cf6=zzzzzzzzzzz"]]; yahooTrack.didFinishSelector = @selector(statisticsFinished:); yahooTrack.delegate = self; [yahooTrack startAsynchronous]; Then the statisticsFinished looks like: NSLog(@"Cookies: %@", request.requestCookies); NSLog(@"Redircount: %d", [request redirectCount]); NSLog(@"Responsecode %d %@\nMsg: %@", request.responseStatusCode, request.responseStatusMessage, [request responseString]); And all the information I get back looks correct. Cookies are set, redirectcount is 1 the first time (as it redirects to s.analytics.yahoo.com/itr.pl?.... a normal browser does). Then the redirectcount is 0 for subsequent request until the app is restarted and session cleared. The responseString returns GIF89a. Even if the data looks correct, Yahoo still won't track. As soon as I call the tracking url directly in my browser it works as expected. I realize Flurry is a better option, but I'm forced to use Yahoo in this case. Also, using a UIWebView probably would work, but I'm against putting in a webview just for tracking purposes. Is there any difference in how ASIHTTPRequest and Safari would handle a call to a simple URL as this? Or do you see anything else that could explain why the tracking isn't working?

  • C++: Implementing Named Pipes using the Win32 API

    - by Mike Pateras
    I'm trying to implement named pipes in C++, but either my reader isn't reading anything, or my writer isn't writing anything (or both). Here's my reader: int main() { HANDLE pipe = CreateFile(GetPipeName(), GENERIC_READ, 0, NULL, OPEN_EXISTING, FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED, NULL); char data[1024]; DWORD numRead = 1; while (numRead >= 0) { ReadFile(pipe, data, 1024, &numRead, NULL); if (numRead > 0) cout << data; } return 0; } LPCWSTR GetPipeName() { return L"\\\\.\\pipe\\LogPipe"; } And here's my writer: int main() { HANDLE pipe = CreateFile(GetPipeName(), GENERIC_WRITE, 0, NULL, OPEN_EXISTING, FILE_FLAG_OVERLAPPED, NULL); string message = "Hi"; WriteFile(pipe, message.c_str(), message.length() + 1, NULL, NULL); return 0; } LPCWSTR GetPipeName() { return L"\\\\.\\pipe\\LogPipe"; } Does that look right? numRead in the reader is always 0, for some reason, and it reads nothing but 1024 -54's (some weird I character). Solution: Reader (Server): while (true) { HANDLE pipe = CreateNamedPipe(GetPipeName(), PIPE_ACCESS_INBOUND | PIPE_ACCESS_OUTBOUND , PIPE_WAIT, 1, 1024, 1024, 120 * 1000, NULL); if (pipe == INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) { cout << "Error: " << GetLastError(); } char data[1024]; DWORD numRead; ConnectNamedPipe(pipe, NULL); ReadFile(pipe, data, 1024, &numRead, NULL); if (numRead > 0) cout << data << endl; CloseHandle(pipe); } Writer (client): HANDLE pipe = CreateFile(GetPipeName(), GENERIC_READ | GENERIC_WRITE, 0, NULL, OPEN_EXISTING, 0, NULL); if (pipe == INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) { cout << "Error: " << GetLastError(); } string message = "Hi"; cout << message.length(); DWORD numWritten; WriteFile(pipe, message.c_str(), message.length(), &numWritten, NULL); return 0; The server blocks until it gets a connected client, reads what the client writes, and then sets itself up for a new connection, ad infinitum. Thanks for the help, all!

  • What are all the differences between pipes and message queues?

    - by aks
    What are all the differences between pipes and message queues? Please explain both from vxworks & unix perspectives. I think pipes are unidirectional but message queues aren't. But don't pipes internally use message queues, then how come pipes are unidirectional but message queues are not? What are the other differences you can think of (from design or usage or other perspectives)?

  • MySQL on Windows - how do I set the wait_timeout for connections using named pipes?

    - by gustafc
    I use a MySQL database running on a Windows box, and for performance reasons I'm connecting to it using named pipes. The (Java) application using the database (through Hibernate) can let the connection lie idle for quite a long time, which causes the connection to fail with the following message: com.mysql.jdbc.exceptions.jdbc4.CommunicationsException: The last packet successfully received from the server was 33 558 297 milliseconds ago. The last packet sent successfully to the server was 33 558 297 milliseconds ago. is longer than the server configured value of 'wait_timeout'. You should consider either expiring and/or testing connection validity before use in your application, increasing the server configured values for client timeouts, or using the Connector/J connection property 'autoReconnect=true' to avoid this problem. autoReconnect unfortunately has no effect (and neither does autoReconnectForPools), but the wait_timeout docs state that wait_timeout only applies "to TCP/IP and Unix socket file connections, not to connections made via named pipes, or shared memory". How can I change the wait_timeout for named pipes?

  • Is there any way to retire a AT&T Yahoo Email Account

    - by KindaSortaAsking
    Here are the facts as I (pretty sure) know them. Yahoo handles AT&T's DSL email accounts. I've called AT&T tech support and customer service and they say they can't help, but there has GOT to be a way to do this. It's too simple of a thing not to be able to do. I got behind on my dsl bill and my account got suspended. When I paid my bill, they said my account had been deactivated and I had to get a new account. When I tried to register my account with my old email address it would not let me, saying it was in use. I used a new email. The old email address is tied to a dsl account that can NEVER be reactivated. There has got to be a way to retire the old email address so that I can re-create it as a subaccount on my new dsl account. I'm not interested in anything that was in the old account (emails, addresses, etc) - I just want the address back.

  • WCF over named pipes

    - by Christoph
    Hi I have a problem with following scenario: There is a windows service running which spawns several processes. These processes open a WCF service host over a named pipe binding. Now the parent windows service tries to ping (connect) to the child processes using the wcf proxy over the well known named pipe. This, however fails saying: "Endpoint not found" If I run the parent process as a console application it works fine. Any ideas? I was thinking about permissions but the child processes should inherit the permission of the service, besides they are in the same session as well. thanks, Christoph

  • UNIX pipes on C block on read

    - by Toni Cárdenas
    I'm struggling to implement a shell with pipelines for class. typedef struct { char** cmd; int in[2]; int out[2]; } cmdio; cmdio cmds[MAX_PIPE + 1]; Commands in the pipeline are read and stored in cmds. cmdio[i].in is the pair of file descriptors of the input pipe returned by pipe(). For the first command, which reads from terminal input, it is just {fileno(stdin), -1}. cmdin[i].outis similar for the output pipe/terminal output. cmdio[i].in is the same as cmd[i-1].out. For example: $ ls -l | sort | wc CMD: ls -l IN: 0 -1 OUT: 3 4 CMD: sort IN: 3 4 OUT: 5 6 CMD: wc IN: 5 6 OUT: -1 1 We pass each command to process_command, which does a number of things: for (cmdi = 0; cmds[cmdi].cmd != NULL; cmdi++) { process_command(&cmds[cmdi]); } Now, inside process_command: if (!(pid_fork = fork())) { dup2(cmd->in[0], fileno(stdin)); dup2(cmd->out[1], fileno(stdout)); if (cmd->in[1] >= 0) { if (close(cmd->in[1])) { perror(NULL); } } if (cmd->out[0] >= 0) { if (close(cmd->out[0])) { perror(NULL); } } execvp(cmd->cmd[0], cmd->cmd); exit(-1); } The problem is that reading from the pipe blocks forever: COMMAND $ ls | wc Created pipe, in: 5 out: 6 Foreground pid: 9042, command: ls, Exited, info: 0 [blocked running read() within wc] If, instead of exchanging the process with execvp, I just do this: if (!(pid_fork = fork())) { dup2(cmd->in[0], fileno(stdin)); dup2(cmd->out[1], fileno(stdout)); if (cmd->in[1] >= 0) { if (close(cmd->in[1])) { perror(NULL); } } if (cmd->out[0] >= 0) { if (close(cmd->out[0])) { perror(NULL); } } char buf[6]; read(fileno(stdin), buf, 5); buf[5] = '\0'; printf("%s\n", buf); exit(0); } It happens to work: COMMAND $ cmd1 | cmd2 | cmd3 | cmd4 | cmd5 Pipe creada, in: 11 out: 12 Pipe creada, in: 13 out: 14 Pipe creada, in: 15 out: 16 Pipe creada, in: 17 out: 18 hola! Foreground pid: 9251, command: cmd1, Exited, info: 0 Foreground pid: 9252, command: cmd2, Exited, info: 0 Foreground pid: 9253, command: cmd3, Exited, info: 0 Foreground pid: 9254, command: cmd4, Exited, info: 0 hola! Foreground pid: 9255, command: cmd5, Exited, info: 0 What could be the problem?

  • Using pipes inside a class in C++

    - by Paul
    I'm trying to use this tutorial to make plots with Gnuplot in C++. However I will be using the pipe to Gnuplot from within a class, but then I run into some problems: I've got a header file where I declare all variables etc. I need to declare the pipe-variable here too, but how do I do that? I've tried doing it straight away, but it doesn't work: Logger.h: class Logger { FILE pipe; } Logger.cpp: Logger::Logger() { //Constructor *pipe = popen("gnuplot -persist","w"); } Gives the error Logger.cpp:28: error: no match for ‘operator=’ in ‘*((Logger*)this)->Logger::pipe = popen(((const char*)"gnuplot -persist"), ((const char*)"w"))’ Suggestions?

  • Yahoo is sending our server's transactional email to the Spam folder, even though we have set up SPF and DKIM

    - by Derrick Miller
    Yahoo Mail is sending our server's transactional emails to the Spam folder, even though we have taken quite a few anti-spam steps. By contrast, Gmail allows the messages through to the inbox just fine. Here are the things which are in place: SPF is set up for the domain holsteinplaza.com. Yahoo reports spf=pass in the message headers. DKIM is set up for the domain holsteinplaza.com. Yahoo reports dkim=pass in the message headers. We have a proper reverse DNS entry for the sending mail server. Name - IP matches IP - Name. Neither Domainkeys nor SenderID are set up. From what I can tell, DKIM is the way of the future, and there is not much to be gained from adding Domainkeys or SenderID. Following are the headers. Any ideas what more I should do to get Yahoo to stop flagging the emails as spam? • Yahoo OAuth implementation has no way to work offline

    - by Khash
    I need to download my Delicious bookmarks to a non-web application without constant user interaction. I'm using Delicious's V2 API (using oAuth) but the problem is it seems their access tokens expire after one hour. I don't have any issues with redirecting the user to Yahoo for a one time authorization, but what is described here (http://developer.yahoo.com/oauth/guide/oauth-refreshaccesstoken.html) means I would have to refresh my access tokens all the time before they expire when the user is away. Is this really the way they've done their oAuth implementation?
