• How can I remove new kernel versions after downgrading?

  i have some problem. First i upgraded ubuntu to 12.04 and all of packages. But after that i have a lot of problems so i decided to downgrade to 11.10. After i did that i have two kernels 3.2.x and 3.0.x. I found a lot of solutions how to remove older kernels but i have no idea how to remove newer kernel ? I dont see 3.2 kernel when im using a 3.0 kernel. But i see it in grub. When i type uname -r in terminal i see only 3.0.x kernel which im using at the moment.. Any solutions to delete 3.2 kernel ?

• How to do call function after client finishes download from tornado web server?

  I would like to be able to run some cleanup functions if and only if the client successfully completes the download of a file I'm serving using Tornado. I installed the firefox throttle tool and had it slow the connection down to dialup speed and installed this handler to generate a bunch of rubbish random text: class CrapHandler(BaseHandler): def get(self, token): crap = ''.join(random.choice(string.ascii_uppercase + string.digits) for x in range(100000)) self.write(crap) print "done" I get the following output from tornado immediately after making the request: done I 100524 19:45:45 web:772] 200 GET /123 (192.168.45.108) 195.10ms The client then plods along downloading for about 20 seconds. I expected that it would print "done" after the client was done. Also, if I do the following I get pretty much the same result: class CrapHandler(BaseHandler): @tornado.web.asynchronous def get(self, token): crap = ''.join(random.choice(string.ascii_uppercase + string.digits) for x in range(100000)) self.write(crap) self.finish() print "done" Am I missing something fundamental here? • WIn API Basic Paint program

  Just trying to learn a bit of Win API. Im trying to make a basic drawing app, a bit like MS Paint. For the time being im trying to get one function to work which is, when you left click and drag the mouse around the screen a line is drawn behind the mouse. • Where would you document standardized complex data that is passed between many objects and methods?

  Hi All, I often find myself with fairly complex data that represents something that my objects will be working on. For example, in a task-list app, several objects might work with an array of tasks, each of which has attributes, temporal expressions, sub tasks and sub sub tasks, etc. One object will collect data from web forms, standardize it into a format consumable by the class that will save them to the database, another object will pull them from the database, put them in the standard format and pass them to the display object, or the update object, etc. The data itself can become a fairly complex series of arrays and sub arrays, representing a 'task' or list of tasks. For example, the below might be one entry in a task list, in the format that is consumable by the various objects that will work on it. Normally, I just document this in a file somewhere with an example. However, I am thinking about the best way to add it to something like PHPDoc, or another standard doc system. Where would you document your consumable data formats that are for many or all of the objects / methods in your app? • efficient collision detection - tile based html5/javascript game

  Im building a basic rpg game and onto collisions/pickups etc now. Its tile based and im using html5 and javascript. i use a 2d array to create my tilemap. Im currently using a switch statement for whatever key has been pressed to move the player, inside the switch statement. I have if statements to stop the player going off the edge of the map and viewport and also if they player is about to land on a tile with tileID 3 then the player stops. • How to use the float value from Noise function in voxel terrain?

  Im using Unity, although this question is not really specific to that engine. Im also using an asset from the store called Coherent Noise. It has some neat noise functionality built it. I am using those functions to produce some noise values. I am getting a value between 0 and 1 (floats). I have an array of blocks (for minecraft like voxel terrain) and I am confused on how to use this float value for terrain? Do I do something like <= 0 == Solid block etc etc? I am confused on how to use the floating values that the noise functions produce to use for height values of an array of say a height of 16. Thanks for any guidance.

• Breakout... Getting the ball reflection X angle when htitting paddle / bricks

  Im currently creating a breakout clone for my first ever C# / XNA game. Currently Ive had little trouble creating the paddle object, ball object, and all the bricks. The issue im currently having is getting the ball to bounce off of the paddle and bricks correctly based off of where the ball touches the object. This is my forumala thus far: if (paddleLocation.Intersects(ballLocation)) { position.Y = paddleLocation.Y - texture.Height; motion.Y *= -1; // determine X motion.X = 1 - 2 * (ballLocation.X - paddleLocation.X) / (paddleLocation.Width / 2); } The problem is, the ball goes the opposite direction then its supposed to. When the ball hits the left side of the paddle, instead of bouncing back to the left, it bounces right, and vise versa. Does anyone know what the math equation is to fix this?

  Hi I am using 3-legged-oauth to import a users' Google contacts in my app. I did not find the ContactsClient library but i was using only the ContacsService and i was fetching the ContactsFeed but that resulted to not having a lot of data. • Trying to boot from usb

  I have similar issues but none with the 12.04 build. Im trying this on a dell d610 laptop with a bad hard drive and was told i could just directly boot from the usb drive. Im using an 8g usb drive and i have tried using the uui tool and get this message. SYSLINUX 4.06 EDD 4.06-pre1 Copyright (c) 1994-2011 H.Peter Anvinet al ERROR: No configuration file found No DEFAULT or UI configuration directive found! Then i tried using unetbootin and got the bootup screen with only the default option and it would say auto boot with a 10 sec countdown and start over again. I do have the boot sequence for usb first.

• graphical interface when using assembly language

  Im looking to use assembly language to make a great game, not just an average game but a really great game. I want to learn a framework to use in assembly. I know thats not possible without learning the framework in c first. So im thinking of learning sdl in c and then learn, teach myself, how to interpret the program and run it as assembly language code which shouldnt be that hard. Then i will have a window and some graphics routines to display the game while using assembly to code everything in. I need to spend some time learning sdl and then some more time learning how to code all those statements using assembly while calling c functions and knowing what registers returned calls use and what they leave etc. My question is , Is this a good way to go or is there something better to get a graphical window display using assembly language? • How is Sencha Touch performing on Android in practice ?

  Hi I'm just about to start a project using Sencha Touch, and just done some minor testing on my HTC desire device. All tutorial videos at Vimeo seems to be using an iPhone emulator running on a Mac. Im not sure how fast this emulator is compared to a real iPhone device or even an real Android device, but from what i have experienced, it seems that my HTC desire is not performing that nicly as this emulator. All animations (sliding, fading, etc) seems abit laggy. You can easily notice that the FPS is much less than on the Vimeo videos. HTC desire is a relativly new and modern Android 2.2 phone, running with decent hardware, so im wondering if Sencha Touch is "ready" for the Android platform. Anybody with practical experience with Android and Sencha Touch ?

  Im currently on my way to Sql Rally nordic and looking forward to a few days of full on SQL geekery and “Unleashing my inner Viking”.  I shall be speaking on Wednesday afternoon on one of my favourite subjects “Cursors are Evil”.  Ok,  so lets put it into perspective, “Evil” is a bit dramatic , but “Often use inappropriately and can cause serious performance bottlenecks” didn't have quite the same ring If you are not going to be at SQL Rally,  im going to be repeating it at the Leeds and Manchester user groups on the 23rd and 24th of November respectively.  Presenting with me on these nights will be James Boother, so make it along to those if you can.  I look forward to seeing you at one of these events.

  Possible Duplicate: How to find web hosting that meets my requirements? Im currently shopping around for a web host for our website we are hoping to release in the near future. This is my first real step into this area. Just wondering what I should be looking for. It is an ASP.net MVC website with an MS SQL Server backend. I need to know that the server will not buckle if the traffic booms. Currently im looking at a managed dedicated server from singlehop. Does anyone know any better or have any advice.
