  • Trying to use boost lambda, but my code won't compile

    - by hamishmcn
    Hi, I am trying to use boost lambda to avoid having to write trivial functors. For example, I want to use the lambda to access a member of a struct or call a method of a class, eg: #include <vector> #include <utility> #include <algorithm> #include <boost/lambda/lambda.hpp> using namespace std; using namespace boost::lambda; vector< pair<int,int> > vp; vp.push_back( make_pair<int,int>(1,1) ); vp.push_back( make_pair<int,int>(3,2) ); vp.push_back( make_pair<int,int>(2,3) ); sort(vp.begin(), vp.end(), _1.first > _2.first ); When I try and compile this I get the following errors: error C2039: 'first' : is not a member of 'boost::lambda::lambda_functor<T>' with [ T=boost::lambda::placeholder<1> ] error C2039: 'first' : is not a member of 'boost::lambda::lambda_functor<T>' with [ T=boost::lambda::placeholder<2> ] Since vp contains pair<int,int> I thought that _1.first should work. What I am doing wrong?

  • Is there any way to get MSVC to pass structs arguments in registers on x64?

    - by Luke
For a function with signature: struct Pair { void *v1, *v2 }; void f(Pair p); compiled on x64, I would like Pair's fields to be passed via register, as if the function was: void f(void *v1, void *v2); Compiling a test with gcc 4.2.1 for x86_64 on OSX 10.6, I can see this is exactly what happens by examining the disassembly. However, compiling with MSVC 2008 for x64 on Windows, the disassembly shows that Pair is passed on the stack. I understand that platform ABIs can prevent this optimization; does anyone know any MSVC-specific annotations, calling conventions, flags, or other hacks that can get this to work? Thank you!

  • Is there a tool for generating a DSL parser that does not require a runtime for the resultant parser

    - by Chris
I'm doing a lot of work with a DSLs at the moment and was wondering if anyone knew of a tool that could generate a parser for my bnf specification that does not require a run-time library (pure java source parser)? I'm committed to using XTEXT for a future Eclipse plug-in but I need a nice small version for my library itself and don't want to add another jar dependency. It seems that ANTLR requires a run-time to parse files and I performed a Google search with no avail. Can anyone help out? Thanks, Chris

  • How to reduce simple cpp application size? (compiled with RAD Studio 2010 cpp builder)

    - by peterg
I am using rad studio 2010 cpp builder. I've created a new SDI application, added a TCppWebBrowser control and a simple button that onclick trigger the .navigate for the TCppWebBrowser, I compiled it and I got a 1.20mb file, I was expecting less than 700kb at least. How can I reduce the size of the compiled exe? I don't want to use "build with runtime packages", I know that will make it very small but I want to get all the necessary packages and dependencies inside the exe but maybe I am getting more than I use, I tried unchecking/removing a lot of design packages (in project/options/packages) I don't use but the file size didn't decreased. Also I was thinking maybe the TForm component that comes with RAD Studio is giving me more stuff than I need and that could make the file bigger, I mean I only need to drop a webbrowser control and a few buttons in the form, maybe there's a minimal form component I could use to replace TForm. Any suggestions will be appreciated.

  • Xcode compile error: Can't find an (old) file I used to have

    - by Carol
This is what happens when I try to compile my iPhone app with Xcode v3.1.4 What in the world does it all mean? (And how do I fix it?) Processing /Users/carol/Documents/MyApp/build/Release-iphonesimulator/MyApp.app/Info.plist TabBarDemo2-Info.plist cd /Users/carol/Documents/MyApp setenv PATH "/Developer/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/usr/bin:/Developer/usr/bin:/usr/bin:/bin:/usr/sbin:/sbin" TabBarDemo2-Info.plist -genpkginfo /Users/carol/Documents/MyApp/build/Release-iphonesimulator/MyApp.app/PkgInfo -expandbuildsettings -format binary -o /Users/carol/Documents/MyApp/build/Release-iphonesimulator/MyApp.app/Info.plist error: The file “TabBarDemo2-Info.plist” does not exist.

  • Trying to 'Make' CUDA SDK, ld cannot find library, ldconfig says it can.

    - by Andrew Bolster
I know there are many other questions similar to this one, but none of the solutions posited there are working for me Basically, making the SDK sample files, i get /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lcuda which would be an easy enough 'find the library and throw it to ldconfig', except ldconfig already says it has it... $ sudo ldconfig -v | grep cuda /usr/local/cuda/lib64: libcudartemu.so.3 -> libcudartemu.so.3.0.14 libcudart.so.3 -> libcudart.so.3.0.14 /usr/local/cuda/lib: libcudartemu.so.3 -> libcudartemu.so.3.0.14 libcudart.so.3 -> libcudart.so.3.0.14 libcuda.so.1 -> libcuda.so.195.36.15 libcuda.so.1 -> libcuda.so.195.36.15 libicudata.so.42 -> libicudata.so.42.1 And I checked, there is a symlink libcuda.so -> libcuda.so.1 but I'm still confused as to why libcuda.so -> ... doesnt show up I must be missing something really obvious. Any ideas?

  • Java == operator. "Invalid assignment operator"

    - by Tom
Hi, I was trying to write a simple method boolean validate(MyObject o) { return o.getPropertyA() == null && o.getPropertyB()==null; } And got a strange error on the == null part. Maybe my Java is rusty after a season in PLSQL. Consider this: Integer i = 4; i ==null; //compile error: Syntax error on token ==. Invalid assignment operator. Integer i2 = 4; if (i==null); //No problem How can this be ? Any explanation ? Im using jdk160_05.

  • Trying to compile MobileSubstrate addon - Undefined symbol

    - by eWolf
Hi! I went through this tutorial to create a MobileSubstrate addon. I could compile the example hook without errors. But as soon as I add #import <SpringBoard/SBAwayController.h> in ExampleHookProtocol.h and SBAwayController *awayController = [SBAwayController sharedAwayController]; in ExampleHookLibrary.mm (as the first line of the __$ExampleHook_AppIcon_Launch function) I get the following error message when attempting to make (triggered by the latter change): Undefined symbols: "_OBJC_CLASS_$_SBAwayController", referenced from: __objc_classrefs__DATA@0 in ExampleHookLibrary.o ld: symbol(s) not found collect2: ld returned 1 exit status make: *** [ExampleHook.dylib] Error 1. The header file for SBAwayController is located in /var/toolchain/sys30/usr/include/SpringBoard, just like SBApplicationIcon.h, which is used by the ExampleHook. I'm compiling on my iPod touch 2G. Can anyone help me? Thanks in advance, Eric

  • strange redefined symbols

    - by Chris H
I included this header into one of my own: http://codepad.org/lgJ6KM6b When I compiled I started getting errors like this: CMakeFiles/bin.dir/SoundProjection.cc.o: In function `Gnuplot::reset_plot()': /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.4/include/g++-v4/new:105: multiple definition of `Gnuplot::reset_plot()' CMakeFiles/bin.dir/main.cc.o:project/gnuplot-cpp/gnuplot_i.hpp:962: first defined here CMakeFiles/bin.dir/SoundProjection.cc.o: In function `Gnuplot::set_smooth(std::basic_string, std::allocator const&)': project/gnuplot-cpp/gnuplot_i.hpp:1041: multiple definition of `Gnuplot::set_smooth(std::basic_string, std::allocator const&)' CMakeFiles/bin.dir/main.cc.o:project/gnuplot-cpp/gnuplot_i.hpp:1041: first defined here CMakeFiles/bin.dir/SoundProjection.cc.o:/usr/include/eigen2/Eigen/src/Core/arch/SSE/PacketMath.h:41: multiple definition of `Gnuplot::m_sGNUPlotFileName' I know it's hard to see in this mess, but look at where the redefinitions are taking place. They take place in files like /usr/lib/gcc/x86_64-pc-linux-gnu/4.3.4/include/g++-v4/new:105. How is the new operator getting information about a gnuplot header? I can't even edit that file. How could that ever even be possible? I'm not even sure how to start debugging this. I hope I've provided enough information. I wasn't able to reproduce this in a small project. I mostly just looking for tips on how to find out why this is happening, and how to track it down. Thanks.

  • How to exclude files from Visual Studio compile?

    - by Larsenal
I'm in the process of refactoring a project. I've got an entire subfolder which is known to be broken. Is there any declarative way to exclude that folder from the compile temporarily while I test the refactoring thus far? I realize I could delete the folder, but I'd like to do this through configuration if possible.

  • What are some tips for troubleshooting builds of complicated software?

    - by Goose Bumper
Sometimes I want to build Python or GCC from scratch just for fun, but I can't parse the errors I get, or don't understand statements like "libtool link error # XYZ". What are some tricks that unix/systems gurus use to compile software of this size from scratch? Of course I already do things like read config.log (if there is one), google around, and post in newsgroups. I'm looking for things that either make the process go smoother or get me more information about the error to help me understand and fix it. It's a little tough to get this information sometimes, because some compile bugs can be quite obscure. What can I do at that point?

  • aspnet_compiler -fixednames does not work?

    - by Terrence
I am unable to get the -fixednames switch to create dlls for the cs code behind files. The files in the bin folder are compiled aspx pages, but the code behind files are all compiled into one large websitename.dll file. Here is my command with switches. aspnet_compiler -v / -p E:\Source\DotNet4\mysolution\website -f -d -fixednames E:\Source\DotNet4\CompiledWebSite This produces many files in the bin folder. website.dll and website.pdb (contains code behind) myform1.aspx.643c7876.dll (compiled aspx layout ui) I have tested this over and over to make sure I am not missing anything. The test is place a label on myform1.aspx, and in the codebehind populate the label with some text. Compile the website with the above switches and deploy the website. Make a change to the myform1 codebehind and change the label text. Compile and only deploy the myform1.aspx.643c7876.dll to the website. Result: label is still the same. Now deploy the website.dll and pdb and the label changes. Can anyone tell me how to get -fixednames to create sinle dlls for codebehind?

  • Make Visual Studio to show All Compile Errors!

    - by BDotA
Visual studio does not show all the compile errors at once. for example one time it says I have two errors and when I fix them then 102 more compile errors are showing up and these new errors are not dependent on those two previous errors. How can we tell it to go through all the code and show all compile errors at once

  • Getting 'error while loading shared libraries' when using -L to specifically find the library.

    - by e5
I've been trying to solve this for a few hours now. I am compiling some c files using gcc. The files require libpbc, so I am using the -L flag to point gcc at the directory which contains libpbc.so.1. The code compiles without error yet when I attempt to run it I get the following error message: ./example.out: error while loading shared libraries: libpbc.so.1: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory Looking at similar questions this error message seems to indicate that gcc can't find libpbc.so.1. I know gcc sees libpbc.so.1 because when I rename libpbc.so.1 to something else it fails to compile. I am using -L to point to the directory which contains libpbc.so.1. Not sure what next steps I can take to figure this out. Would appreciate any ideas. What does this error message mean exactly?
