• Will an app made for windows store support WindowsRT, windows8 and windows 8 mobile?

  I am very much confused about these. I would like to develop app for windows 8 , Windows RT , and windows mobile. I have windows 8 OS installed in my laptop. As far as I know, Windows RT is for ARM based devices. HERE ARE MY QUESTIONS: I develop an app, and put in windows store. Will that can be downloaded from a ARM based device ,which runs on Windows RT, AND from a windows 8 laptop , and same from a Windows 8 mobile? OR should it be different apps ?

• Will there be a difference between Unity "Desktop" and Unity "Netbook" interface?

  What has me slightly confused from all the different reports about Unity becoming the default shell in the 11.04 desktop edition: Some claim and this is how most people seem to see it, that what currently is the UNE interface will be taken 1:1 (including any changes made during the Natty cycle) and used as the interface for the desktop version - meaning that the interface will be exactly the same for 11.04 UNE and UDE. Some other reports talk more along the lines a "desktop unity", making it sound, that while both will be using Unity, the Desktop edition will get it's own Unity, tailored specifically towards the Desktop formfactor. So both editions will be using Unity, but with slight differences in the layout or interface. So my question is, will there be any difference between 11.04 Unity "Desktop" and Unity "Netbook" interface?

  I have a an Ubuntu 12.04.2 LTS server in which i host my website. The website is in Drupal. I tried to set up AWStats for my website but it is giving a lot of problems. I followed this link - http://www.sysadminworld.com/2011/set-up-awstats-on-ubuntu/ But I am confused about the domain name that needs to be given. The website can be accessed from http://xyz.com but the actual link is http://xyz.abc-def.com/root-folder. What is the domain name in this case? So what should be the name of the conf file then?

• finding the gedit plugin folder

  I am a bit confused as to where I should put externally downloaded plugins. I have tried putting them in: /usr/share/gedit/plugins ~/.local/gedit/plugins ~/.gnome2/gedit/plugins /usr/lib/gedit/plugins The way I have checked whether the plugins show up or not is going to Edit-Preferences-Plugins and looking for the ones I have downloaded (clickconfig, gedit-developer-plugins-...). Since I do not see any new plugins appearing, I have to assume that I am doing something wrong. None of these have worked. I am a bit tired of polluting my system. It's probably my own fault as it's written somewhere I have not thought to look. Please let me know how to add external plugins to gedit properly. I am running Ubuntu 11.10. My gedit version is 3.2.3 EDIT: I am still not able to solve this problem. I have tried the following folder now as well, and it hasn't worked: ~/.config/gedit/plugins

• Ubuntu Server 11.04 installs fine then gets stuck on USBHID

  ites! I have installed Server 11.04 many many times from this disc and they have always worked perfectly (installed and operated fine). I wanted to reinstall my server again on the same hardware so I threw the disc in and installed but once it finished installing the boot loader and ejected the disc, it decided to go unresponsive. I restarted it and it loaded in through the grub perfectly it seemed, but then it goes and says either that a ipv6 router is unavailable (even though I have it hardwired to my network) or it goes and says usbhid: USB HID core driver and goes unresponsive there. I am very confused as this never happened before from this install. I want to see if this is just me or what before I just go ahead and download the newest version of server. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

How would I go about assigning, say, my DiffuseColor or SpecularColor shader parameter to white or (better) can I assign it to some value specified by the artist in the model? (I think this may have something to do with the OpaqueDataDictionary but I am confused on how to use it--the content pipeline has always been a black box to me.)

• Unable to Access Localhost after starting Xampp

  OS: Windows XP Professional, SP 2. Few days back i had xampplite 1.7.1 installed and was able to access localhost and phpmyadmin through browser...... Today it suddenly stopped working. In firefox after i type http://localhost/ nothing happens, just blank white screen. I removed all the files in xampplite folders and re-installed ver 1.7.1 again, it's of no use. Then i installed xampplite 1.7.2 (latest), which i had downloaded from xampp website, again it's of no use. Apache and MySql are running though. I tried using locally installing wordpress, as i have a theme ready and want to convert that design to wordpress, test it and start using it online.   Ubuntu Core's wiki page page contains the instructions to install Ubuntu Core on a target media: Uncompress (do not unpack) rootfs Format target media: at least one partition should be ext2, ext3, or ext4 Unpack Ubuntu Core to ext{2,3,4} partition Install boot-loader Install Linux If the Linux kernel requires modules, add these to /lib/modules/$(uname -r) in the ext{2,3,4} file system Boot the target device Install any additional required software using apt-get But what are the specific commands to do the above? The things I'm specifically confused about are: Uncompressing and unpacking, what's the difference and how do I do them? What package should I install if I want the generic kernel provided in regular Ubuntu installation? I won't be installing any drivers or anything related to kernel other than what's provided in the repos, do I need to worry about manually adding kernel modules? PS I would like to request that all the commands used in the installation process be mentioned in the answer, for the benefit of ones who're completely unfamiliar and myself, should I ever forget.

  I have been asked to create a web service that communicates with Auth.NET CIM and Shipsurance API. This web service will be used by multiple applications (one a desktop and another a web application). Am confused whether to go for WCF or asmx web service . Auth.NET CIM and Shipsurance API have asmx webservices which i would be calling in my newly created web service.So is WCF the right way to Go or can i stay with asmx? Can Some one please guide. • how to package a unity lens app

  i'm new to ubuntu apps and launchpad. I've created a unity lenses app using quickly but i'm stuck on how to deploy it, i have two questions. I can create a deb file using quickly package but when i install it, i still need to manually restart unity and run the project using 'quickly run'. how can i get the package manager to do that on install so users can start using the lens straight away? I'm confused as to what i need to do to make my project be installed using a ppa. i've pushed my code to launchpad using bzr, i've created a ppa, openpgp key, ssh etc. i don't know what to do next? • 3 language website using subdomains and mapped domains. Add subdomains or mapped domains to WMT?

  I have a new wordpress multisite setup. Main language Italian and 2 subdomains using en and de for english and german. There is no auto translation plugins being used. The wordpress theme being used is by Studiopress.com and have SEO built in. I am a little confused as which domains to use in Webmasters Tools. If I use the subdomains (en and de) which have the seo setup, then google will index and show the en.example.it wont know about the mapped domains or display them. If I use the mapped domains then won't google not see the seo for the subdomains. I am muddled with this. What do??

• How to find data usage of a user on my website?

  I have a website (project) where users get logged in, do their work and then they log out. I need to build a report that displays how much each person has used of data. (bandwidth, how much was downloaded in Kb, etc) So the process may be like counting start of usage from user login to user logout. I have seen a little about Webalizer and AWStats for something like this, But I am not sure how they work. I have tried Content-Length but some pages don't send content-length.I have also seen mod_bandwidth but still I am little confused. This process is needed for my site because now, our company is thinking of charging per usage and also bandwidth allocation for each users (according to their membership). I haven't worked with this type of tools, I am newbie in this matter. I have done only simple websites not any setting like this in Apache or Linux. My project is in Codeigniter.

• Stats on Screen Size for Flash Games

  I'm working on a Flash game after many, many years. I'm trying to figure out size to make my application run (eg. 600x800). Because it's a tall (not wide) game, I'm confused. I know about (and love) the Steam hardware stats. However, for Flash gaming, I have two nit-picks with their survey sample: 1) Caters to more hardcore gamers with better hardware (overall) 2) Captures only a subset of Flash gamers. Doesn't capture people who play at school, work, etc. or not netbooks and lighter machines. Are there any sort of statistics I can use to determine which size to use? Ideally, I would like to know something like: 800x600 will fit 94% of users screens 1024x768 will fit 74% of users screens 1200x960 will fit 53% of users screens etc.

  My company is about to get a new physical connection to the Internet, replacing the old provider. They, of course, are giving us the allotted IPs, Gateway, and DNS servers. My domain name is registered with a provider like Bluehost, GoDaddy, etc. When this new connection goes in, what do I change in the domain name providers DNS? I know to change what Host point to. That is my new IP address. But what about the name servers? I am confused because the company gave me IP addresses for the name servers, but at the provider is has a DNS server name like ns1.somedomain.com. Also, How do I update the Internet's DNS servers?   I am trying to find the option that sets, for the whole system the default Web Browser, Mail Client, Video Player and Music Player instead of having to do it for each type of file. I knew where the option was in 11.04 but somehow I can not find it again. Just to not get anymore confused I am not talking about right clicking a file then changing the "Open With" to the one I want. The option I am looking for affects everything in general, so if I change, for example, the default video player to VLC, all movies will be watched with VLC. I am using Unity.

  I've got a website with about 170 pages and I want to create an effective Sitemap for it as it is long due. The website is internally linked very well but I still want to take advantage of creating a sitemap to allow SE's to crawl my site easier and to hopefully increase my websites PR. Though I am slightly confused to what I must do: Is it necessary to create a .xml sitemap AND a HTML Sitemap (both)? ... Because I've never worked with .xml ... where do I put this file once it's created? In the Root folder? So I assume that this sitemap.xml is ONLY to be read by spiders and NOT by website visitors. IE: No visitor on my website is going to visit the page sitemap.xml, am I correct? ... Hence why I should also create an HTML sitemap (sitemap.htm)?

  Should I reuse variables? I know that many best practice say you should not do it, however later when different developer is debugging the code and have 3 variables that look a like and only difference is that they are created in different places in the code he might be confused. unit-testing is a great example of this. However I do know that best practice are most of the time against it. For example they say not to "overide" method parameters. Best practice are even are against nulling the previous variables (in Java there is Sonar that has warning when you assign null to variable that you don't need to do it to call garbage collector since Java6. you cant always control what warnings are turned off, most of the time the default is on)

• Keyboard problems on Acer Laptop

  The key map on my Acer Aspire 5750 keyboard has gone awry since I had the keyboard replaced (because of physical fault with one of the keys). The new keyboard looks identical, but now Ubuntu seems a little confused about which (function) buttons are which. So previously Fn+left/right were, as marked on the keys, brightness up and down; Fn+up/down were volume. It all worked as advertised! But now Page Dn (which is marked as Page Dn or Back a track with Fn) is turning the volume up, and the others fn+arrow keys don't work at all. Is there a way I can see what's happening or get it to re-map my keys? Thanks.
