• rdiff-backup is taking longer and longer every time it runs

  I've been running rdiff-backup for the past week or so, every night at 4am. It started out not taking that long, but its taking longer and longer and longer every time its runs every night. In some cases there are quite a few new and changed files and in other cases, not so much. It started out taking < 10 minutes, and after a week its taking over 4.5 hrs to run. It's only about 300gigs of data total. One important thing to note though, rdiff-backup is backup up stuff over to a USB2 external drive. Maybe thats why its so slow?

• Matlab - Propagate points orthogonally on to the edge of shape boundaries

  Hi I have a set of points which I want to propagate on to the edge of shape boundary defined by a binary image. The shape boundary is defined by a 1px wide white edge. I also have the coordinates of these points stored in a 2 row by n column matrix. The shape forms a concave boundary with no holes within itself made of around 2500 points. I want to cast a ray from each point from the set of points in an orthogonal direction and detect at which point it intersects the shape boundary at. What would be the best method to do this? Are there some sort of ray tracing algorithms that could be used? Or would it be a case of taking orthogonal unit vector and multiplying it by a scalar and testing after multiplication if the end point of the vector is outside the shape boundary. When the end point of the unit vector is outside the shape, just find the point of intersection? Thank you very much in advance for any help!

  Hey guys, How can I figure out which word is at the point where the user tapped on a UIWebView? I am able to detect the CGPoint for the tap (subclassing UIWindow like this), and I can actually get the DOM element on that point using javascript. But I know very little of javascript and DOM to figure out how can I actually get which word the user tapped on. Is that possible? • UIImageView in UITableCell gets a weird size

  Hi, I'm trying to place a UIImageView in a UITableViewCell. I create a special view called ProductView. In that view, I have several components, one of them being a UIImageView. I set this ProductView as content view of the UITableViewCell. Everything is drawn properly except the UIImageView. UIImageView gets scaled meaninglessly. It's height gets twice the height of the table cell size. I've spent hours trying to solve this problem. I've set the frame of UIImageView manually, I've called drawRect method of UIImage in UIImageView, neither of them worked. I'm thinking of replacing UITableView with a UIScrollView if I can't find a solution. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?

Is there a way of fixing this, or a better way of doing it? Please bear in mind that I don't have much control over the HTML, since I need to do this in Django's admin interface, which doesn't allow much injection of HTML in the places you might want to to accomplish this sort of thing (i.e. this answer and this answer don't work for me).

  I am trying to determine the distance from a point to a polygon in 2D space. The point can be inside or outside the polygon; The polygon can be convex or concave. If the point is within the polygon or outside the polygon with a distance smaller than a user-defined constant d, the procedure should return True; False otherwise. I have found a similar question: Distance from a point to a polyhedron or to a polygon. However, the space is 2D in my case and the polygon can be concave, so it's somehow different from that one. I suppose there should be a method simpler than offsetting the polygon by d and determining it's inside or outside the polygon. Any algorithm, code, or hints for me to google around would be appreciated.

• Activity gets killed while executing the camera intent

  In my app I call the system camera to take a picture, and then handle the result in onActivityResult. You know, the usual. It used to work, but now my calling activity gets killed while I'm taking the picture. Specifically, onDestroy() is called on my activity right after I press the camera shutter. The photo does get taken & saved (I've checked that the file gets written on the SD card). After I accept the photo, instead of returning to the calling activity and invoking onActivityResult, the previous activity in the activity stack gets called. I see no exceptions in the logcat. My custom exception handler doesn't get called. If it matters, my app also includes a service that listens to GPS updates, but I unregister all the receivers in onPause(). I have looked at cycle but it seems to change every other record. Does anyone know of a way to insert code into a view every 6 times? • Back Button gets Disabled on IE 7,8 for an ASP.NET site

  In an ASP.NET 3.5 website we are noticing that the back button is not working properly. If the user does several postbacks (say 10 times), and than starts pressing back button - the back button gets disabled before the user gets through all the pages. The site does not use AJAX.net. I can reproduce the issue on IE 7 and 8 almost always. The problem seems to be with some sort of limit IE has on History Cache for a given tab/instance. In the tests I did the post request to the server are large - around 83k, and the responses are are round 300k. It seems that with these request sizes the history does not hold more than 4 items. The moment I get to the 5 post, the first item i had selected is dropped.

• How to move point on arc?

  I am writing an app that is simulating RobotArm movement. What I want to achieve, and where I have couple of problems is moving a Point on arc (180degree) that is arm range of movement. I am moving an arm by grabbing with mouse end of arm (Elbow, the Point I was talking about), robot can have multiple arms with diffrent arm lenghts. If u can help me with this part, I'd be grateful. • Progress dialog getting dismissed before the thread gets finished - Android

  Hi experts, I use the code provided by Fedor in the following link, in order to get the latitude and longitude from my simple demo app. I am trying to fetch the latitude and longitude using the MyLocation class provided by him in that link. What is the simplest and most robust way to get the user's current location in Android? I try to fetch the latitude and longitude on a button click. On the button click, I start an async task and delegate the location fetching work to the do in background method of my asynctask. pre execute - progressdialog initiated. post execute - progress dialog dismissed. This is how, the progress dialog in my code should work and here is the issue which I have. THe progress dialog gets initiated correctly, but even before the latitude and longitude gets printed in the doinbackground method, the progress dialog gets dismissed. I do not understand why this happens. • mvc consistent route parameters without re-initializing every action

  Trying to consistently tack on a route parameter for every action without having to set it every action I tried this with ViewData but it seems ineffecient to do to every action. when I have over 40-50 actions, and Sessions are a no go for me. Is there a simpler way through filters or something else I could use? eg. http://localhost/myController/myView?param=foo eg. http://localhost/myController/myView/myID?param=foo (needs to be tacked on id automatically)

• Word on HTML document point.

  Hey guys, How can I figure out which word is at the point where the user tapped on a UIWebView? I am able to detect the CGPoint for the tap (subclassing UIWindow like this), and I can actually get the DOM element on that point using javascript. But I know very little of javascript and DOM to figure out how can I actually get which word the user tapped on. Is that possible? • MYSQL trigger gets deleted automatically

  I have using mysql 5.1 with cpanel /whm centOS. I had to use trigger for one of my website. so i installed trigger as root so that when something gets inserted on one table there some more rows gets inserted in other table Everything was working fine, but i have seen that there is no trigger in my dtabase. How does that be deleted from DB. I am bit worried because currently site is not live , but it can cause problem if this happens in live site. Does any mysql updation cause the trigger to delete. but i have no updated. How can i make sure it don't happen in future Thanks

• determine if point on screen is within specific UIScrollView subview

  A UIScrollView contains several UIView objects; how can I tell if a point on the screen not generated by touches is within a specific subview of the scrollview? so far atempts to determine if the point is in the subview always return the first subview in the subviews array of the parent scrollview, ie the coordinates are relative to the scrollview, not the window. • Problem running Apache-Tomcat on every web browser installed in Windows 7

  Hello everyone, I'm working on a web application in JSP and my web container is Apache Tomcat 7.0.2 (Its portable cross-platform version). As I've made extensive use of HTML5-CSS3 and my target browser is Google Chrome, I'm able to run the the Apache server only in Opera web browser, neither of the remaining installed browser run it. Here's the steps I have followed to start the server in my Windows 7 machine. -Placing the 'apache-tomcat-7.0.2' directory on my root partition (i.e. C: Drive) -Execute 'startup.bat' from 'bin' directory in it. (startup.sh if on Linux/Unix). -Then, a Console window opens that shows log during the setup of server (separately from Command Prompt), and I need to keep that console running in order to keep the Apache server running, so I minimize it. -Then, I open 'http://localhost:8080/' in various web browsers, and I could see Apache Server Homepage with same address only in Opera Web Browser (11.01), neither of other browsers installed can open it (Chrome 9, Firefox 4 Beta 10 or IE8). -I also tried other port numbers, but none of them worked. What can I do to make Apache run in every browser installed in my computer? I have my computer dual boot with Windows 7 and Ubuntu 10.10, and in Ubuntu, every web browser installed can run Apache once I start it, but same is not working in Windows.

• Memcached session manager in Azure: Connection gets forcibly closed

  I am using Memcached Session Manager to handle Tomcat sessions in non-sticky mode. My deployment in Azure consists of a Worker Role with two instances which connect to an Azure VM running my Memcached server. Everything works pretty well, my session is persisted and retrieved by any of the two instances transparently. The problem arises when the session is idle for about 4 minutes; everything points out that the Azure Loadbalancer is closing the spymemcached connection to the VM after some period of inactivity. • xterm window gets stuck after some time

  I am using xterm on RHEL with KDE. Usually after a couple of days, the xterm terminals get stuck i.e. I am not able to resize or relocate them. After this, even if I open a new terminal, it is stuck the same way. What I do is logout and login again. Is this a bug with xterm? Is there a known solution?
