  • [PHP] Dynamic cron jobs?

    I'm writing a script that needs to be called at a random time during the day, but am not sure how to accomplish this. I don't want to waste server resources to run a cron job every minute. I want the script to be called at random, so generating the random times for say a month in advance and then creating cron jobs for each of them isn't what I'm looking for. Also this script only needs to be executed once a day. Thanks in advance!

  • How to detect page redirect with PHP?

    I'm trying to detect whether an image exists on a remote server. However, I've tried several methods and can't get any of them to work. Right now I'm trying to use this: if (!CheckImageExists("http://img2.netcarshow.com/ABT-Audi_R8_2008_1024x768_wallpaper_01.jpg")) { print_r("DOES NOT EXIST"); } else { print_r("DOES EXIST"); }; function CheckImageExists($imgUrl) { if (fopen($imgUrl, "r")) { return true; } else { return false; }; }; But it returns 'true' whether the image actually exists or not (the above image should, but change it to gibberish and it still will return 'true'). I have a feeling it could be because if the URL does not exist, it redirects to the homepage of the site. But I don't know how to detect that. Thanks for any help!

  • php how to serialize array of objects?

    Hello, I have small class called 'Call' and I need to store these calls into a flat file. I've made another class called 'CallStorage' which contains an array where I put these calls into. My problem is that I would like to store this array to disk so I could later read it back and get the calls from that array. I've tried to achieve this using serialize() and unserialize() but these seems to act somehow strange and part of the information gets lost. This is what I'm doing: //write array to disk $filename = $path . 'calls-' . $today; $serialized = serialize($this->array); $fp = fopen($filename, 'a'); fwrite($fp, $serialized); fclose($fp); //read array from serialized file $filename = $path . I've also tried to serialize and write arrays that contains plain strings. I didn't manage to get that working either.. I have a Java background so I just can't see why I couldn't just write an array to disk if it's serialized. :)

  • Getting an non-object error in my php script

    Hey I was trying to call a script to made some changes to an html file, however when I run the script it tells me that it's making a call to a non-object. Obviously I did something wrong, but what?   • PHP for loop isn't looping after APC installation

    So I installed APC and i all of the sudden my for loops only run once and increment the value then stops. I dont get what's going on, it worked fine before APC was installed. Any Suggestions? EDIT: I managed to narrow it down to the increment. for some reason if I have an array let's say string[], and have the for loop list through the values like with string[$i] It only does it for the first one, I can manually echo/print out the array elements to check if the array is the problem but all elements have the appropriate data/values.     I have $country which stores the 2 letter country code of a user. US for example. <select id="countries"> <option value="US">United States</option> <option value="EN">England</option> <option value="AU">Australia</option> <option value="CA">Canada</option> etc. </select> What's the best practice to add "selected" to the option of the users country code? I'm against adding a million if's. Also note, the countries are harcoded in HTML, so no array. :(

    I tried googling for this issue and found many people with the same problem but no solution. $result = exec("C:\\Ruby191\\bin\\lessc.bat less\\$file", $output); Here result is an empty string and output an empty array. Same thing with: $result = exec("cmd /c C:\\Ruby191\\bin\\lessc.bat less\\$file", $output); I am sure the path is correct; I am sure exec() is enabled. I tried exec, shell_exec, system and none work. lessc is less CSS.

  • PHP REMOTE_ADDR and secure sessions

    One of the ways I have used to make securer sessions in the past is to also record the clients IP address and user agent at the handshake. Each time the client moves a page and calls session_start() I also check that the IP address and user agent stored is still the same to prevent hiijacking. But if someone is connecting from say a company network then all the users will probably have the same external static IP address and they could also really easily be using the same user agent. Is there other metrics I can use which are local only to the physical machine? Thanks

Now what I am trying to do is in a report I have the top 5 people who have visited the site and would like to then be able to drill down into what lessons they have clicked on. Can anyone help with this? Or would restructuring the way the database is be an easier task? Thanks

NOTE I really want to pass ONLY the value of $myValues['values'][$elem]['xx'] inside my function and return the changed value of $myValues['values'][$elem]['yy']. Can anybody help me with this?
