• How do I query/filter a to-many relationship in Core Data

  I have Customer, Event and Address objects in my data model. Both Customer and Address have a one-to-many relationship to Event. I can get the distinct list of addresses for a customer's events for by doing this: NSSet *addressSet = [customer valueForKeyPath:@"events.address"]; For the part of the UI I'm working on now, I need to display the address from the most recent event prior to now that has an address. I'm starting to go down the path of creating a NSFetchRequest, setting it's entity, sort descriptors, predicate and then looping through the results, but it seems like a lot of code. Am I missing some obvious way of filtering/sorting on the "events" relationship of the Customer object or is creating the NSFetchRequest the best solution?

• Data not displayed first time in android after copying the file from assets to data folder

  Description I have used the code tip from http://www.reigndesign.com/blog/using-your-own-sqlite-database-in-android-applications/ to copy a pre-filled data file to the target and handled this in a asynch task Problem : On starting the application it gives error and shuts down first time, starting again without any change it works perfectly fine. So first time after the file is copied, the error comes but after that no issues.   I have an SQLite table used by Core Data with the following elements: Name: John LastName: Foobar Age: 23 Name: Bob LastName: Baz Age: 37 Name: Peter LastName: Fooqux Age: 32 Name: John LastName: Bar Age: 29 Those are all in a to-many relationship from another object "Company". I need to query the database and retrieve all Company objects with employees called "John" but whose last name does NOT contain "Foo". I did go as far as to make the following predicate: [NSPredicate predicateWithFormat:@"ANY employee.name = 'John'"]; How do I get to filter only by companies whose Johns don't have "Foo" in their last names?

• Getting data from a ListView into an array

  I have a ListView control on my form set up like this in details mode: What I would like to do, is get all the values of the data cells when the user presses the Delete booking button.   I am unable to access an action in my controller using .ajax. The code works on my development machine but as soon as I place it on the server it gives the error 401 Unauthorized.   Hi, I need ideas for structuring and processing data with revisions. For example, I have a database of objects (e.g. cars). Each object has a number of properties, which can be arbitrary, so there's no a set schema to describe these objects. These objects are probably saved as key-value pairs. Now I need to change property of an object. I don't want to completely rewrite it - I want to be able to go back and see history of changes to these properties, that's why I want to add new property and keep the old one (so I guess a timestamp would do the job of telling which property is the latest). At the same time I want to be able to get info about any object in a snap, with only latest versions of each of the properties. Any ideas what would be the best approach? At least please point me in the right direction. Thanks!

How packet is packed to tcp segment, then ip packet. How it is transmitted to network card? (with series of I/O regs write and DMA?) Is it transmitted to network card in the "write" syscall handler (with some deep callstack) or is it transmitted at some other moment?

• Adding a new column to Table which contains live data

  I have a large table consisting of over 60 millions records and I would like to add 2 new columns for data migration purposes. There are indexes on the table and some of them are large. So, by me adding the 2 new columns to the table, will I run the risk of slowing down the database whilst it attempts to add them and maybe time-out? Or will it just work? I know that if I try and rearrange the columns SQL Server will ask me to drop and re-create the table, so I definately don't want this. Is this something everyone is challenged with?

• Determining Excel spreadsheet format before Data Flow Task

  I'm working on an SSIS package which uses a for each loop to iterate through excel files in a directory and a data flow task to import them. The issue I'm having is that the project manager I'm working with doesn't think the users will always follow the structure. So if a file is in the folder and the package tries to import it but the spreadsheet is missing columns or has extra columns it generates and error of course. Even though I have the task set to not fail the package; the package does indeed fail and then the other files aren't imported. So, I'm wondering what is the easiest way to either determine the spreadsheet is incorrectly formatted, or stop the error from failing the package execution? After taking said step I would just use a file copy task to move the file to a "Failure" folder. Then continue on processing the spreadsheets.

• Zero KB SQLite File created by Core Data on application start up

  I'm developing an iPhone application using Core Data. I had everything working and had to make an adjustment to the database schema and change the relationships through the xcdatamodel file. I deleted the my project's sqlite file in Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/3.1.3//Documents. Build and run the application, it creates the sqlite file, but its empty with a file size of 0 KB. At a minimum the table information should be in there. There are no errors/warning in the console. Anyone have an idea what is wrong?

• Using $.getJSON to perform cross domain request problem.

  I'm using the following code to make cross domain request using $.getJSON, request completed but with errors, I cannot exactly detect what is the thrown error. • Creating a unique id for a Core Data program on the iPhone

  I am fairly new at programming in Objective-C, having been a windows programmer since I was a kid. I am falling in LOVE with it. I am, however, having a bit of trouble figuring out this Core Data stuff. How do I create a new entry with a unique ID? In SQL I would just declare one field as an autoincrement field. I'm not seeing anything like that here, but I could just be missing something. I just want an auto incrementing NSInteger field, so when I manually add items to the database, I will have some form of reference to them.

  I am trying to parse a file generated by LGA Tracon that lists the position data for aircraft over a given time frame. The data of interest starts with TRACKING DATA and ends with SST and there are thousands of entries per file. • Unexpected key-value behavior in a Core Data Context

  If I create an array of strings (via key-value coding) containing the names of a Managed Object entity's attributes which are stored in the App Delegate the first time, I get an array of NSStrings without any problems. If I subsequently make the same call later from the same entry point in code, that same collection becomes an array of NULL objects- even though nothing in the Core Data Context has changed. • UIPickerView and empty core data array

  I have a viewcontroller showing items from a core data entity. I also have a tableview listing records from the same entity. The table is editable, and the user could remove all the records. When this happens, the view controller holding the pickerview bombs because it's looking for records in an empty array. How to prevent this? • MVC binding form data problem.

  I am using an object that matches all the fields in my form. I then use the default binding to populate the object in my action, like this; public ActionResult GetDivisionData(DivisionObj FormData) My DivisionObj initializes all it's values to string.empty in the constructor. The problem is that when the binder populates the model from the posted form data, any data that is not posted is set to null in the object, eventhough I initialized the object to contain empty strings. Is there a way to change this so that unposted data will be an empty string.

  I'm trying to make a software that backups my entire hard drive. I've managed to write a code for reading the raw data from hard disk sectors. However, i want to have incremental backups. For that i need to know the changed made to OS settings, file changes, everything. My question is - Using FileSystemWatcher and Inotify, will i be able to know every change made to every sector in the hard drive ? (OS settings etc) I'm coding it in C++ for linux and windows. • Best means to store data locally when offline

  I am in the midst of writing a small program (more to experiment with vs 2010 than anything else) Despite being an experiment it has some practical use for our local athletics club. My thought was to access the DB (currently online) to download the current members and store locally on a laptop (this is a MS sql table, used to power the club's website). take the laptop to the event (yes there ARE places that don't have internet coverage), add members to that days race (also a row from a sql table (though no changes would be made to this), record results (new records in 3rd table) Once home, showered and within internet access again, upload/edit the tables as per the race results/member changes etc. So I was thinking i'd do something like write xml files locally with the data, including a field to indicate changes etc? If anyone can point me in a direction i would appreciate it...hell if anyone could tell me if this has a name, I'd appreciate it.

  Can anyone tell me how to show animated progress bar while the data from an Excel sheet to a SQL database table is being transfered? I have a form in .aspx page. In that form, there is one FileUpload control that uploads an Excel file. While uploading that file and saving it on the server at the same time I'm transferring the data from the Excel sheet to a SQL table.   I need to write a custom setter method for a field (we'll call it foo) in my subclass of NSManagedObject. foo is defined in the data model and Xcode has autogenerated @property and @dynamic fields in the .h and .m files respectively. If I write my setter like this: - (void)setFoo: (NSObject *)inFoo { [super setFoo: inFoo]; [self updateStuff]; } then I get a compiler warning on the call to super. Alternatively, if I do this: - (void)setFoo: (NSObject *)inFoo { [super setValue: inFoo forKey: inFoo]; [self updateStuff]; } then I end up in an infinite loop. So what's the correct approach to write a custom setter for a subclass of NSManagedObject?

• How to find thousands of company names?

  How can I find or generate thousands of company names for testing and demo purposes? (Address, phone number, and related information would be nice too.) I've got a system I'm building which includes business contact information. Pretty common no doubt. My test/demo database currently has randomly generated individual's names loaded (thanks to a handy IRS spreadsheet I found). This has worked great for internal testing and review purposes, but it looks really odd when shown to prospective customers. I've tried various online public information sources (e.g. EDGAR, and county based property records searches), but these all require me to manually stitch together the results in blocks of 50 names or so at a time. I could do this, but was really hoping for a search service or data store out there that had this type of information readily searchable and retrievable in very large batches.

• Transfer Core Data from One Project to Another

  The answer is probably a resounding 'NO' but before I start a new project from scratch, I thought I'd ask. I create many throw away projects to test ideas and code before combining all the successful bits from the scratch projects into a final version. So I have one project with the Core Data stuff worked out but I want to move it to a new project. My guess is that there is too many internal hooks and dropping in the .xcdatamodel and the sqlite db is just not going to work. I'd glad to be wrong...
