  • SQL 2000 - Returning from a Stored Procedure

    Hello, I'm writing a stored procedure. This procedure has a case where if it is met, I want to stop executing the procedure and return -1. How do I do this? Currently, I'm trying the following: IF @result <> 1 BEGIN SELECT -1 END However, SELECT is not a typical "return". As you can imagine I spend most of my time in code which is why i'm looking for something like a "return". Thank you,

    When writing a login system for a website, it is standard to use some combination of parameterized calls, sanitizing the user input, and/or escaping special characters to prevent SQL injection attacks. Any good login system, however, should also hash (and possibly salt) every password before it goes into an SQL query, so is it still necessary to worry about SQL injection attacks in passwords? Doesn't a hash completely eliminate any possibility of an SQL injection attack on its own?

    I was writing two implementations of a linked list for an assignment, a doubly linked list and a circular doubly linked list. Now as the class representing a Link within the linked list is the same in both implementations, I want to use it in both. Now I wonder which approach would be better: Implement the Link class as a package private static member class in the first implementation and then use this class in the second implementation or make the Link class a package private class.

    When using HTTP/1.1 Pipelining what does the standard say about issuing multiple requests without waiting for each request to complete? What do servers do in practice? I ask because I once tried writing a client which would issue a batch of GET requests for multiple files and remember getting errors. I wasn't sure if it was due to me incorrectly issuing the GET's or needing to wait for each individual request to finish before issuing the next GET.

    Hello, I have 2 databases, one is MS Access DB from an old website, and the other one is MYSQL from the new Joomla+VirtueMart based website. I need to migrate existing products from MS Access to MYSQL. I thought of putting both on server and writing SQL queries in MYSQL workbench, untill I have a good script for that, but I'm very new to SQL, so I'd rather avoid that. I there a better way and more efficient for that?

    First, I can assume that all urls that end with jpeg, jpg, bmp, png or gif are images, and others aren't. I thought of, and tried two solutions: Matching the regular expression .(jpe?g|bmp|png|gif)$ Using ends-with to check each separately But, it appears that neither of these exist in XPath 1.0, or at least, they don't exist in Firefox (I am writing a greasemonkey script, so it is only important for the path to work in Firefox).

I'm writing an algorithm for finding the second min cost spanning tree. my idea was as follows: 1) Use kruskals to find lowest MST. 2) Delete the lowest cost edge of the MST. 3) Run kruskals again on the entire graph. 4) return the new MST.     Simple question but reading through documentation and configuration I can't quite seem to figure it out. How do I A) know where hadoop is writing to on the local disk and B) change that For initial testing I setup HDFS on a 20gb linux VM - to it we've added a 500gb networked drive for moving towards prototyping the full system. So now how do I point HDFS at that drive, or do I simply move the home directory/install with some slight change in setup and restart the process?
