  I want to use page_cache with will_paginate. There are good information on this page below. http://railsenvy.com/2007/2/28/rails-caching-tutorial#pagination http://railslab.newrelic.com/2009/02/05/episode-5-advanced-page-caching I wrote routes.rb looks like: map.connect '/products/page/:page', :controller => 'products', :action => 'index' But, links of url are not changed to '/products/page/:page' which are in will_paginate helper. They are still 'products?page=2' How can i change url format is in will_paginate?

• In grails how to insert additional parameters (from session) in all url's

  I would like to add an additional parameter in my url, the use case is the following: When user do their login they also specify a 'company' name and from that moment on, all urls should map to: /$company/$controller/$action/$id The main idea is to have the current company name available in all url's, have it bookmarkable, and not to have to pass the company name everywhere as a request parameter. Also, once users are logged in it is acceptable to have the chosen company name in session scope. What is the right way of inserting this parameter in all our urls? I tried to modify my UrlMappings mapping, but I didn't found a way to insert the company name. Thanks,

• problem with dropdownlist in mvc application

  Hello, I am trying to work with an HTML.DropDownList in MVC and am not getting the expected return values. Here is my implementation for the selectList to bind to the drop down - IEnumerable<status> stat = _provider.GetAllStatuses(); Statuses = new SelectList(stat.ToList(), "id", "name", i.status.id); And here is my view - <%= Html.DropDownList("Status",Model.Statuses) %> I am getting an error when trying to run updatemodel in my controller. I then tried to individually set each object. It turns out that I am not getting a single int from the formvalue as I would expect to. Instead, I am getting a value like "5,10,2,3". I think this is coming from how I set up my selectlist, but I'm not exactly sure. Can anyone see an error in the way I am setting up this dd? Thanks for any help, and let me know if I can clarify anything.

• How can I get my div id to reload via ajax and jquery

  I'm creating a CMS using jQuery and AJAX. When I click, my "Add Campaign" buttom, it creates a unique client ID in the DB and on a hard reload, the new client shows up in its container. I am trying to use ajax to reload the container on the fly and I'm not having the exact luck i am hoping for. • How do I bind the Overlay Tool for new Ajax elements in Jquery?

  Hi, I'm using: echo $javascript->link('tools.overlay-1.0.4', false); which is initialized with: $(".overlay_popup").overlay({ expose: '#000000', close: '.close_overlay', finish: { top: 'center', left: 'center', absolute: false } }); I call the overlay popup box like this: echo $html->link( "add part", array('controller'=>'garage_parts', 'action'=>'addfrompartlist', $gcar['GarageCar']['id'], $gcar['GarageCar']['car_id']), array('class'=>'js-ajax overlay_popup', 'id'=>'add_part_overlay', 'rel'=>'.overlay_container') ); This all works fine and dandy, however I have an ajax function that dynamically adds the "add part" hyperlink button shown above and I have no idea how to bind this new button to the overlay. Normally, I would use something like this: $(".overlay_popup").bind("click", function(){... but this didn't work for the overlay. Any ideas on how I can successfully do this?

• Setting Corner Radius on UIImageView not working

  I'm at a bit of a loss. I've used the layer property of UIView to round the corners of multiple elements in my app. However, this one UIImageView is simply not complying. Not sure what I am missing. The UIImageView (called previewImage) is contained in a Table View Cell. • NSFetchedResultsChangeInsert reported when only updates are taking place

  I have a class that acts as a NSFetchedResultsControllerDelegate which is receiving messages to -(void)controller:didChangeObject:atIndexPath:forChangeType:newIndexPath: with change type NSFetchedResultsChangeInsert, but the actual object which is the subject has with certainty not been newly inserted, only updated. So I would expect to get a change message with type NSFetchedResultsChangeUpdate, should I not? If i check the value of isInserted on the object, it yields false (as expected from the logic in my program). So my question is, why is this reported as an insert when it is only a change/update? They only thing I can think of is that part of the changes that are taking place is that objects of another entity type are inserted with relationships to objects of the entity type that the NSFetchedResultsController is set up to fetch.

  I have been searching pretty hard for info out on the net to explain exactly what Restful routing is but I haven't had any success. There are a lot of resources but not a who lot make sense to me. I'm familiar with Ruby On Rails's routing system and well as how Code Igniter and PhpCake route things but is there more to it than having a centralized location where you give out routes based on a directory structure? Like this: controller/action/id/ Admin/editUser/22 I'd appreciate any help with this, it's had me baffled for months. I just thought of putting it on SO. Thanks

• decode mysql query before returning it to view

  I'm running a query to mysql that returns encrypted data. I'd like, if possible, to decode the results before sending it to the view. It seems like better form to handle the decoding in the controller (or even the model) rather than inside the view. I can't seem to wrap my head around how to do it, though. I was thinking I could iterate through the object, decodode it, and push it to another array that would be sent to the view. Problem with this is I won't know (and need to keep) the indexes of the query. • asp:calendar not work correctly in MVC

  I have an asp:calendar on my view page and as I hover over it..it shows a javascript postback status bar. but I have an asp:button also on the same page and when I hover over it. The action from the controller is in the status bar..because I have an onClick attribute for the button that triggers an action on the server side. and in the asp:calendar I also have a trigger event OnSelectionChanged the has a method on the server side...but as I said when I hover over the calendar to pick a date in the status bar it shows:javascript:_doPostBack($ct100ContentPlaceHolder?mycalendar',''3270) and when I click a date I receive an error that says object doesnt support this method..Also mycalendar is the id name of the asp:calendar

• Entity update from ASP.NET MVC page with post to Edit action

  I have a form that posts back to /Edit/ and my action in controller looks like this: // // POST: /Client/Edit [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Edit(Client client) My form includes a subset of Client entity properties and I also include a hidden field that holds an ID of the client. The client entity itself is provided via the GET Edit action. Now I want to do entity update but so far I've only been trying without first loading the entity from the DB. Because the client object that comes in POST Edit has everything it needs. I want to update just those properties on the entity in datastore. So far I've tried with Context.Refresh() and AttachTo() but with no success - I'm getting all sorts of exceptions. I inspected the entity object as it comes from the web form and it looks fine (it does have an ID and entered data) mapped just fine. If I do it with Context.SaveChanges() then it just inserts new row..

• Simplest way to extend doctrine for MVC Models

  Im developing my own framework that uses namespaces. Doctrine is already integrated into my auto loading system and im now at the stage where ill be creating the model system for my application Usually i would create a simple model like so: namespace Application\Models; class Users extends \Framework\Models\Database{} which would inherit all the default database model methods, But with Doctrine im still learning how it all works, as its not just a simple DBAL. I need to understand whats the part of doctrine my classes would extend where i can do the following: namespace Application\Models; class Users Extends Doctrine\Something\Table { public $__table_name = "users"; } And thus within the controller i would be able to do the following: public function Display($uid) { $User = $this->Model->Users->findOne(array("id" => (int)$id)); } Anyone help me get my head around this ?

• Rails 3 respond_to: default format?

  I am converting a Rails 2 application to Rails 3. I currently have a controller set up like the following: class Api::RegionsController < ApplicationController respond_to :xml, :json end with and an action that looks like the following: def index @regions = Region.all respond_with @regions end The implementation is pretty straightforward, api/regions, api/regions.xml and api/regions.json all respond as you would expect. The problem is that I want api/regions by default to respond via XML. I have consumers that expect an XML response and I would hate to have them change all their URLs to include .xml unless absolutely necessary. In Rails 2 you would accomplish that by doing this: respond_to do |format| format.xml { render :xml => @region.to_xml } format.json { render :json => @region.to_json } end But in Rails 3 I cannot find a way to default it to an XML response. Any ideas?

• Symfony 2 - UrlGenerator::doGenerate is called before listener

  I want to add to the context a parameter, so when login is called I can use it in the route (similar to _locale). I can add this piece of code in HttpUtils.php (as resetLocale), but i don't find it very clean. The reason I need it is the firewall redirection to the login controller, which I would like to have in its route a customized parameter. My problem is that my listener is called after UrlGenerator::doGenerate is called, so I get a MissingMandatoryParametersException. • Newbie question attribute from associated table not showing up in index view

  Hi I know this is something simple I am doing wrong. I have three tables, installation, neighborhood, schools Installation: has_many :schools has_many :neighborhoods Neighborhood: has_many :installations has_many :schools Schools: belongs_to :installations belongs_to :neighborhoods I can't figure out how to show the name of the neighborhood the school is located in on the index view. I can get it to show on the show view once I have the school id. But on the index view I can't figure out what to put in the controller that will allow me to access the neighborhood name from the neighborhood_id that is in the School model. I am sure this is so easy and I am screwing up something stupid. HELP!

I only need it on the show method. So I tried it : def index @products = current_user.products respond_with @products, except: [:attachments] end But unfortunately it's not working.   I have created a polymorphic association around a model called status. Some contacts will have a status associated with it. Many won't. If I try to call a status when one is not there, I get an error. Right now, even if I haven't created a status for the model, it still runs whatever is in the if-end block.   My view is not a strongly typed view and I need to iterate through Request Params in the controller action to determine the values posted. Is there a better way to iterate through the nameValueCollection AllKeys? I am currently looping through the Request Params and setting values appropriately. foreach (var key in Request.Params.AllKeys) { if (key.Equals("CustomerId")) queryObject.CustomerId = Request.Params[key]; else if (key.Equals("OrderId")) queryObject.OrderId= Request.Params[key]; //and so on } I see a considerable amount of repetition in this code.   Hi, Im loading an entity 'Member' from its id in route data. [ListItemsForMembershipType(true)] public ActionResult Edit(Member someMember) {...} The attribute on the action loads the membership type list items for a dropdown box and sticks it in viewdata. This is fine for add forms, and search forms (it gets all active items) but I need the attribute to execute BASED ON THE VALUE someMember.MembershipTypeId, because its current value must always be present when loading the item (i.e. all active items, plus the one from the loaded record). So the question is, what is the standard pattern for this? How can my attribute accept the value or should I be loading the viewdata for the drop down in a controller supertype or during model binding or something else? It is in an attribute now because the code to set the viewdata would otherwise be duplicated in each usage in each action.
