• Change the Log Level of Node Manager.

  This is useful to troubleshoot issues related to Node Manager, such as problems starting a Managed Server or reasons a server could be (re)started. To change the Log Level of Node Manager, you need to edit the nodemanager.properties file. This is usually located at: <MIDDLEWARE_HOME>/wlserver_10.3/common/nodemanager What you need to modify is property: ...LogLevel=INFO... Information about the appropriate values for this property is available in the Node Manager Documentation at 10.3 WebLogic Documentation (and in further releases) which states: LogLevel: Severity level of logging used for the Node Manager log. Node Manager uses the same logging levels as WebLogic Server. Default value: INFO However, this is incorrect. WLS has its own implementation of LogLevel, but Node Manager uses the standard Log Level from the java.util.logging.Level class. Therefore, the possible values for Node Manager LogLevel, in descending order are: SEVERE (highest value) WARNING INFO CONFIG FINE FINER FINEST (lowest value) The highest value provides only messages at the severe level. The warning level provides warning messages and severe messages, and so on. Besides those levels, ALL and OFF are also accepted. For example, if you only want Severe messages to be logged, select SEVERE. If you need the most detailed tracing available, select FINEST. • On Developing Web Services with Global State

  I'm new to web programming. I'm more experienced and comfortable with client-side code. Recently, I've been dabbling in web programming through Python's Google App Engine. I ran into some difficulty while trying to write some simple apps for the purposes of learning, mainly involving how to maintain some kind of consistent universally-accessible state for the application. I tried to write a simple queueing management system, the kind you would expect to be used in a small clinic, or at a cafeteria. Typically, this is done with hardware. You take a number from a ticketing machine, and when your number is displayed or called you approach the counter for service. Alternatively, you could be given a small pager, which will beep or vibrate when it is your turn to receive service. The former is somewhat better in that you have an idea of how many people are still ahead of you in the queue. In this situation, the global state is the last number in queue, which needs to be updated whenever a request is made to the server. I'm not sure how to best to store and maintain this value in a GAE context. The solution I thought of was to keep the value in the Datastore, attempt to query it during a ticket request, update the value, and then re-store it with put. My problem is that I haven't figured out how to lock the resource so that other requests do not check the value while it is in the middle of being updated. I am concerned that I may end up ticket requests that have the same queue number. Also, the whole solution feels awkward to me. I was wondering if there was a more natural way to accomplish this without having to go through the Datastore. Can anyone with more experience in this domain provide some advice on how to approach the design of the above application?

• Model binding nested collections in ASP.NET MVC

  Hi I'm using Steve Sanderson's BeginCollectionItem helper with ASP.NET MVC 2 to model bind a collection if items. That works fine, as long as the Model of the collection items does not contain another collection. I have a model like this: -Product --Variants ---IncludedAttributes Whenever I render and model bind the Variants collection, it works jusst fine. • In apache cxf, How do i know the soap request message is gzip compressed?

  I'm using Apache CXF to send soap message. in specific case, i have to send a soap message gzip compressed. Using log4j, i printed detailed info. would you let me know how i can know the message is gzip compressed and transfered to server. thanks in advance. • Resolving SNAPSHOT dependencies with timestamps from Ivy

  I am attempting to resolve timestamped SNAPSHOT dependencies with Ivy. The environment is Ant + Ivy 1.2.0 + Archiva. Archiva itself is populated from Maven2 builds. Ivy is only used to resolve dependencies (from a single, non Maven2 project). How can Ivy be configured to correctly resolve timestamped artifacts from an Archiva or m2 repository? • Ivy and Snapshots (Nexus)

  Hey folks, I'm using ant, ivy and nexus repo manager to build and store my artifacts. I managed to get everything working: dependency resolution and publishing. Until I hit a problem... (of course!). I was publishing to a 'release' repo in nexus, which is locked to 'disable redeploy' (even if you change the setting to 'allow redeploy' (really lame UI there imo). You can imagine how pissed off I was getting when my changes weren't updating through the repo before I realised that this was happening. Anyway, I now have to switch everything to use a 'Snapshot' repo in nexus. Problem is that this messes up my publish. I've tried a variety of things, including extensive googling, and haven't got anywhere whatsoever. The error I get is a bad PUT request, error code 400. Can someone who has got this working please give me a pointer on what I'm missing.   I spend a few hours trying to get Twitter integration to work with Spring Social using the XML configuration approach. All the examples I could find on the web (and on stackoverflow) always use the @Config approach as shown in the samples For whatever reason the bean definition to get an instance to the twitter API throws an AOP exception: Caused by: java.lang.IllegalStateException: Cannot create scoped proxy for bean 'scopedTarget.twitter': Target type could not be determined at the time of proxy creation. • C#, WinForms: Why aren't KeyDown events chaining up to Form? I have to add event handler to each chi

  As i understand it, when a button is pressed it should first invoke the Control which has focus' KeyDown Handler, then it call the KeyDown handler for any Parent controls, all the way up to the main form. The only thing that would stop the chain would be if somewhere along the chain one of the EventHandlers did: e.SuppressKeyPress = true; e.Handled = true; In my case, KeyDown events never get to the main form. I have Form - Panel - button for example. Panel doesn't offer a KeyDown Event, but it shouldn't stop it from reaching the main form right? Right now as a work around I set every single control to call an event handler I wrote. I'm basically trying to prevent Alt-F4 from closing the application and instead minimize it.

  I'm reading Thinking in C++ (vol. 2): Whenever a function is called, information about that function is pushed onto the runtime stack in an activation record instance (ARI), also called a stack frame. A typical stack frame contains (1) the address of the calling function (so execution can return to it), (2) a pointer to the ARI of the function’s static parent (the scope that lexically contains the called function, so variables global to the function can be accessed), and (3) a pointer to the function that called it (its dynamic parent). The path that logically results from repetitively following the dynamic parent links is the dynamic chain, or call chain I'm unable to comprehend what the author means as function's static and dynamic parent. Also am not able to differentiate between item 1, 2 or 3. They all seem to be the same. Can someone please explain this passage to me?

• JSF : able to do mass update but unable to update a single row in a datatable

  I have a simple data object: Car. I am showing the properties of Car objects in a JSF datatable. If i display the properties using inputText tags, i am able to get the modified values in the managed bean. However i just want a single row editable. So have placed a edit button in a separate column and inputText and outputText for every property of Car. the edit button just toggles the rendering of inputText and outputText. Plus i placed a update button in a separate column which is used to save the updated values. However on clicking the update button, i still get the old values instead of the modified values. • NServiceBus pipeline with Distributors

  I'm building a processing pipeline with NServiceBus but I'm having trouble with the configuration of the distributors in order to make each step in the process scalable. Here's some info: The pipeline will have a master process that says "OK, time to start" for a WorkItem, which will then start a process like a flowchart. Each step in the flowchart may be computationally expensive, so I want the ability to scale out each step. This tells me that each step needs a Distributor. I want to be able to hook additional activities onto events later. This tells me I need to Publish() messages when it is done, not Send() them. A process may need to branch based on a condition. This tells me that a process must be able to publish more than one type of message. A process may need to join forks. I imagine I should use Sagas for this. Hopefully these assumptions are good otherwise I'm in more trouble than I thought. For the sake of simplicity, let's forget about forking or joining and consider a simple pipeline, with Step A followed by Step B, and ending with Step C. Each step gets its own distributor and can have many nodes processing messages. NodeA workers contain a IHandleMessages processor, and publish EventA NodeB workers contain a IHandleMessages processor, and publish Event B NodeC workers contain a IHandleMessages processor, and then the pipeline is complete. In this case, everything works great. Both instances of Node B report that it is subscribing to EventA, however, one worker says NodeC.Distrib.Data@MYCOMPUTER is subscribing TWICE, while the other worker does not mention it. In the second case, which seem to be controlled only by the way the distributor routes the subscription messages, if the "overachiever" node processes an EventA, all is well. If the "underachiever" processes EventA, then the publish of EventB has no subscribers and the workflow dies. So, my questions: Is this kind of setup possible? Is the configuration correct? It's hard to find any examples of configuration with distributors beyond a simple one-level publisher/2-worker setup. Would it make more sense to have one central broker process that does all the non-computationally-intensive traffic cop operations, and only sends messages to processes behind distributors when the task is long-running and must be load balanced? Then the load-balanced nodes could simply reply back to the central broker, which seems easier. On the other hand, that seems at odds with the decentralization that is NServiceBus's strength. And if this is the answer, and the long running process's done event is a reply, how do you keep the Publish that enables later extensibility on published events?

• How do chains work in Rainbow tables?

  Hello, I was wondering if should one could explain in detail how chains work in rainbow tables as though you would a complete novice but with relevance to programming. I understand that a chain is 16 bytes long. 8 bytes mark the starting point and 8 mark the end. I also understand that in the filename we have the chain length i.e. 2400. Which means that between our starting point and end point in just 16 bytes we have 2400 possible clear texts? What? How does that work? in those 16 bytes how do i get my 2400 hashes and clear texts or am i miss understanding this? Your help is greatly appreciated. Thanks P.s. You can't do this in C#! I want to return an IList<ITask> from an IList<IStates>. } } Assuming the IList returned will be read-only, I know that what I'm trying to achieve is safe (or is it not?). Is there any way I can accomplish what I'm trying? I wouldn't want to try to implement myself the TasksChain algorithm (again!), as it would be error prone and would lead to code duplication. Maybe I could just define an abstract Chain and then implement both TasksChain and StatesChain from there? Or maybe implementing a Chain<T> class? How would you approach this situation? • Expression Too Complex In Access 2007

  When I try to run this query in Access through the ODBC interface into a MySQL database I get an "Expression too complex in query expression" error. The essential thing I'm trying to do is translate abbreviated names of languages into their full body English counterparts. I was curious if there was some way to "trick" access into thinking the expression is smaller with sub queries, or if someone else had a better idea of how to solve this problem. I thought about making a temporary table and doing a join on it, but that's not supported in Access SQL. Just as an FYI, the query worked fine until I added the big long IFF chain. I tested the query on a smaller IFF chain for three languages, and that wasn't an issue, so the problem definitely stems from the huge IFF chain (It's 26 deep). Also, I might be able to drop some of the options (like combining the different forms of Chinese or Portuguese) As a test, I was able to get the SQL query to work after paring it down to 14 IFF() statements, but that's a far cry from the 26 languages I'd like to represent. The list of languages should have been a table in the database and the login.lang should have been a FK into that table. • How many layers are between my program and the hardware?

  I somehow have the feeling that modern systems, including runtime libraries, this exception handler and that built-in debugger build up more and more layers between my (C++) programs and the CPU/rest of the hardware. I'm thinking of something like this: 1 + 2 OS top layer Runtime library/helper/error handler a hell lot of DLL modules OS kernel layer Do you really want to run 1 + 2?-Windows popup (don't take this serious) OS kernel layer Hardware abstraction Hardware Go through at least 100 miles of circuits Eventually arrive at the CPU ADD 1, 2 Go all the way back to my program Nearly all technical things are simply wrong and in some random order, but you get my point right? How much longer/shorter is this chain when I run a C++ program that calculates 1 + 2 at runtime on Windows? How about when I do this in an interpreter? (Python|Ruby|PHP) Is this chain really as dramatic in reality? Does Windows really try "not to stand in the way"? e.g.: Direct connection my binary < hardware?

• Scrollbar still is painted after it should be removed

  I have the following custom control and can place on a form (with AutoScroll set to true and the control anchored left, top and right). If the form is too short for the control, the form correctly resizes the control (to make room for the scroll) and displays the scroll bar. When the control is closed using the close glyph, the control is resized and the scroll bar is removed, but occasionally the scroll bar appears to remain painted. If the form is minimized or moved off-screen, the leftover paint is removed. I've tried Parent.Invalidate and have toyed with it in many ways but to no avail. Any suggestions?   I want to set the Expires header for all image/* and text/css. I'm doing this in a Filter. However: before calling chain.doFilter(..) the Content-type is not yet "realized" after calling chain.doFilter(..) the Content-type is set, but so is content-length, which forbids adding new headers (at least in Tomcat implementation) I can use the extensions of the requested resource, but since some of the css files are generated by richfaces by taking them from inside jar-files, the name of the file isn't x.css, but is /xx/yy/zz.xcss/DATB/.... So, is there a way to get the Content-type before the response is committed.
