  I have one Sell Operation object and two Buy Operation objects, i want to implement such behavior that one Sell Operation discharges two Buy Operation, it looks like: sellOperation.Discharge(oneBuyOperation); sellOperation.Discharge(twoBuyOperation); so i want to ask whether i should call the repository function in the Discharge method, or i'd better call the repository save method outside Discharge method. like: opRepository.Save(sellOpertion); So anyone could give me some advise what are you going to implement in this scenario? using Service class or anything better way?

  I'm trying to write a DSL that allows me to do Policy.name do author "Foo" reviewed_by "Bar" end The following code can almost process it: class Policy include Singleton def self.method_missing(name,&block) puts name puts "#{yield}" end def self.author(name) puts name end def self.reviewed_by(name) puts name end end Defining my method as class methods (self.method_name) i can access it using the following syntax: Policy.name do Policy.author "Foo" Policy.reviewed_by "Bar" end If i remove the "self" from the method names, and try to use my desired syntax, then i receive an error "Method not Found" in the Main so it could not find my function until the module Kernel. Its ok, i understand the error. But how can i fix it? How can i fix my class to make it work with my desired syntax that?

  I am trying to make a C extension for Ruby that includes a method returning a string, which will sometimes have character values that need to be in an unsigned char. In http://github.com/shyouhei/ruby/blob/trunk/README.EXT, all of the functions listed for turning C strings into Ruby strings take signed chars. So I couldn't do this: unsigned char bytes[] = {0xf0, 0xf1, 0xf2}; return rb_str_new(bytes, 3); How could I make a method that returns these types of strings? In other words, how would I make a C extension with a method returning "\xff"?

• What features of interpreted languages can a compiled one not have?

  Interpreted languages are usually more high-level and therefore have features as dynamic typing (including creating new variables dynamically without declaration), the infamous eval and many many other features that make a programmer's life easier - but why can't compiled languages have these as well? I don't mean languages like Java that run on a VM, but those that compile to binary like C(++). I'm not going to make a list now but if you are going to ask which features I mean, please look into what PHP, Python, Ruby etc. have to offer. Which common features of interpreted languages can't/don't/do exist in compiled languages? Why?

• Update image in ASP.NET page from memory without refreshing the page.

  I have a command line C# server and an ASP.NET client, they both communicate via .NET Remoting. The server is sending the client still images grabbed from a webcam at say 2 frames a second. I can pass the images down to the client via a remote method call and the image ends up in this client method: public void Update(System.Drawing.Image currentFrame) { // I need to display the currentFrame on my page. } How do i display the image on the a page without saving the image to the hard disc? If it was a winForms app i could pass currentFrame to a picturebox ie. picturebox.Image = currentFrame. The above Update method gets fired at least 2 times a second. If the client was a winForms app i could simply put picturebox.Image = currentFrame and the current frame on the screen would automatically get updated. How do i achieve the same effect with ASP.NET? Will the whole page need to be reloaded etc?

  Using VS 2010, with ASP.NET, and .NET 3.0, and C#... When I use a System.Web.UI.WebControls.SqlDataSource and call its Insert() method to insert a new row, and that table has an identity column, I'd like my method to return the value of that column. For example, in my SQL 2005 table, I've got: Customer.Id Customer.FirstName Customer.LastName Where Customer.Id is an identity colum. When I call my method InsertNewCustomerRecord( "John", "Smith" ), I'd like to be able to return the Customer.Id that gets automatically generated in the database.   I am using a service in my android app, which is called when an alarm is activated by a calander. When the service has been activated i want it to be destroyed by the OnStart() method once it has completed its code.   I have to find recursively if there is any repeated element in an integer array v. The method must have the following signature: boolean hasRepeatedElements(int[] v) I can't see any way of doing that recursively without having to define another method or at least another overload to this method (one that takes for example the element to go after or something). At first I thought about checking for the current v if there is some element equal to the first element, then creating a new array with L-1 elements etc but that seems rather inefficient. Is it the only way? Am I missing here something?

  Hi, I noticed that my app is very slow sometimes, so I've done some tests. It's a very simple web app. One servlet gets some parameters than stores them. Everything's fine except one thing. It takes too long to get a parameter for the first time. It doesn't matter which parameter I try to get, but for the first time it is very slow. The strange thing is this doesn't happen always. Sometimes getting a parameter for the first time is not slow. My code looks like this request.getParameter("paramName"); request.getParameter("paramName2"); request.getParameter("paramName3"); Getting "paramName" is slow. Getting the others is very fast. By slow I mean : 200-800 millisec By very fast I mean: ~0 millisec (in the code snippet, I didn't write the performance test, but I'm using System.currentTimeMillis())

I call the same BindPort method in client. Then a exception occurs at DataReceived method. I think there must be a problem that I don't close the UDP port properly. But how can i close the UDP socket properly and rebind to another one. Thanks.

  I am trying to send a slider value from a controller object to a method of a model object. The later is implemented in the separate file and I have appropriate headers. I think the problem is that I am not sure how to instantiate the receiver in order to produce a working method for the controller.   In the software world, it seems to me that SCM is an unfortunately overloaded acronym. It can mean:- Source Code Management Software Configuration Management Which one of these is the dominant term? Do they mean the same thing? To me Source Code Management is essentially synonymous with Version Control. Whereas Software Configuration Management is a larger subject, which potentially includes Build and Release Management as well. However looking on Wikipedia, it lists Subversion as a Software Configuration Management tool, which is at most only tangentially true. Build and Software Management has come up before, but nothing definitive has been said on the matter, unfortunately.

• Calculating rotation and translation matrices between two odometry positions for monocular linear triangulation

  Recently I've been trying to implement a system to identify and triangulate the 3D position of an object in a robotic system. The general outline of the process goes as follows: Identify the object using SURF matching, from a set of "training" images to the actual live feed from the camera Move/rotate the robot a certain amount Identify the object using SURF again in this new view Now I have: a set of corresponding 2D points (same object from the two different views), two odometry locations (position + orientation), and camera intrinsics (focal length, principal point, etc.) since it's been calibrated beforehand, so I should be able to create the 2 projection matrices and triangulate using a basic linear triangulation method as in Hartley & Zissermann's book Multiple View Geometry, pg. 312. Solve the AX = 0 equation for each of the corresponding 2D points, then take the average In practice, the triangulation only works when there's almost no change in rotation; if the robot even rotates a slight bit while moving (due to e.g. wheel slippage) then the estimate is way off. This also applies for simulation. Since I can only post two hyperlinks, here's a link to a page with images from the simulation (on the map, the red square is simulated robot position and orientation, and the yellow square is estimated position of the object using linear triangulation.) So you can see that the estimate is thrown way off even by a little rotation, as in Position 2 on that page (that was 15 degrees; if I rotate it any more then the estimate is completely off the map), even in a simulated environment where a perfect calibration matrix is known. In a real environment when I actually move around with the robot, it's worse. There aren't any problems with obtaining point correspondences, nor with actually solving the AX = 0 equation once I compute the A matrix, so I figure it probably has to do with how I'm setting up the two camera projection matrices, specifically how I'm calculating the translation and rotation matrices from the position/orientation info I have relative to the world frame. How I'm doing that right now is: Rotation matrix is composed by creating a 1x3 matrix [0, (change in orientation angle), 0] and then converting that to a 3x3 one using OpenCV's Rodrigues function Translation matrix is composed by rotating the two points (start angle) degrees and then subtracting the final position from the initial position, in order to get the robot's straight and lateral movement relative to its starting orientation Which results in the first projection matrix being K [I | 0] and the second being K [R | T], with R and T calculated as described above. Is there anything I'm doing really wrong here? Or could it possibly be some other problem? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Android SDK documentation says that startManagingCursor() method is depracated: This method is deprecated. Use the new CursorLoader class with LoaderManager instead; this is also available on older platforms through the Android compatibility package. This method allows the activity to take care of managing the given Cursor's lifecycle for you based on the activity's lifecycle. That is, when the activity is stopped it will automatically call deactivate() on the given Cursor, and when it is later restarted it will call requery() for you. When the activity is destroyed, all managed Cursors will be closed automatically. If you are targeting HONEYCOMB or later, consider instead using LoaderManager instead, available via getLoaderManager() So I would like to use CursorLoader. But how can I use it with custom CursorAdapter and without ContentProvider, when I needs URI in constructor of CursorLoader?

  for a Java project for a University Class I have a method that saves ASCII images as a uniline string and another method called toString rebuilds this ASCII image and returns as a string. When I run my program on the Eclipse my output looks on console alright and multiline, and there are line breaks where they should be. But when I run it with the command line with a redirected outputfile java myprogram < input output the text in the output is uniline without line breaks Here is the code of the method public String toString(){ String output = ""; for(int i=0; i<height; i++){ output=output+image.substring(i*width, i*width+width)+"\n"; } return output; } What should I do so I can get a multiline output text file

  Hi, Has anybody used the Patterns in Action from the Do Factory? I just have a question on the architecture. I always thought that the service must call the repository. In the solution the have ActionService and a repository. Lets say I want to get all the customers then in my controller I would call the repository's GetCustomers method.
