• Switch to 64 bit or stay at 32 bit?

  I have a small office, and I currently use a Visual Foxpro Application that I wrote to handle all the data. It is time to buy a new server. It seems that there are problems with VFP and 64 bit operating system. Should I make the move to 64 bit and try to deal with the problems that arise, or buy a new server running the older 32 bit acrhitecture? The latter would of course require that I use Exchange 2003 instead of 2007 or 2008. Probably no big deal?

  I am developing a small application with images and trash box icon on right hand bottom. I have multiple images floating in the main window, and using mouse I can move image from one corner to other corner of window, left, right, top and bottom. I can't figure out how do I catch an event when a image touches and panel (with trash box image), in the right hand corner. Does anybody knows which event or handler to listen? This is not a drag and drop case since my images are floating so no point using drag and drop. Thank you

• Creating Tables in Word Programatically

  I am generating tables and writing them to word on the fly. I do not know how many tables there will be each time i write the data to word and the problem I am having is the second table is written inside the first cell of my first table. If there was a third table it is put inside the first cell of my second table. Is there a way to move the cursor out of the table? I have tried creating a new range with each table also but the same thing happens. I have also tried things like tbl.Range.InsertParagraphAfter() The closest I came was using the Relocate method, but this only worked for two tables. Thanks Ben

• How to superpose two GwtCanvas ?

  Hi, I'm trying to superpose two GwtCanvas (which use an Html5 canvas). I am able to get this effect by using an absolute panel. But by doing this, I can't get my object to fill my panel. I would like to this so I can do a whiteboard in GWT. So far, I'm pretty advance but I would like to have multiple canvas overlay to support undo or preview. For example, if we draw a rectangle, it would be good to preview it as we move the mouse. I have found a javascript tutorial to do this : ex: http://dev.opera.com/articles/view/html5-canvas-painting/ There is a javascript example, but I'm not sure how to do the bridge between GWT and JavaScript. Any ideas ?

• OnmouseMove not work with SetTimeOut and Alerts in Chome

  What's wrong with this code? It works in IE and FireFox, but Chrome does not work. The idea is that the function fnTimeOut will be triggered in 5 seconds after onmousemove. It´s ok. But when, in Chrome, I click on the button "ok" to function fnAlert is triggered instantly. • How can I pass latitude and longitude values from UIViewController to MKMapView?

  I have a detail view that includes three UIButtons, each of which pushes a different view on to the stack. One of the buttons is connected to a MKMapView. When that button is pushed I need to send the latitude and longitude variables from the detail view to the map view.   config.php put at the root level, this file will be included in any pages. Then at config.php <?php define( 'ROOT_DIR', dirname(__FILE__) ); ?> So at all other pages from different sub/a.php , sub/sub/b.php directories, when I want to include a specific file in specific location, I just need to include( ROOT_DIR.'/include/functions.php' ); In windows server, the ROOT_DIR bring the value to C:/inetpub/vhosts/domain.com Is this a good/secure way? It seems like via this way, when I move the b.php to other upper level folder, I don't need to do any changes to the include file path, which is good for maintenance. Any cons? Like SEO wise, or any other reason... What you guys think.

Unfortunately, the Windows Forms ListBox (with SelectionMode.MultiExtended) is not fully functional. The missing functionality is that it doesn’t let you select a disjoint set of items by using Ctrl+Arrow keys and Ctrl+Space. (Try it in Windows Explorer to see how it’s supposed to work.) I am trying to subclass ListBox and add this missing functionality. To this end, I intend to respond to Ctrl+Arrow keys in the OnKeyDown protected method, but in order to do so, I need to be able to move the outline without changing the set of selected items. How do I do that?

  Hi there, I'm having trouble making a simple shape move along a path in IE7 (the only version of IE I tried, actually). The following code works fine in chrome and firefox, but not IE. I couldn't find an obvious reason, has anybody seen something similar? canvas.path(rPath.path).attr("stroke", "blue"); var circle = canvas.circle(rPath.startX, rPath.startY, 5); circle.animateAlong(rPath.path, 3000, true); My rPath variable has the path and the starting point coordinates.   I'm familiar with ORM as a concept, and I've even used nHibernate several years ago for a .NET project; however, I haven't kept up with the topic of ORM in Java and haven't had a chance to use any of these tools. But, now I may have the chance to begin to use some ORM tools for one of our applications, in an attempt to move away from a series of legacy web services. I'm having a hard time telling the difference betweeen the JPA spec, what you get with the Hibernate library itself, and what JDO has to offer. So, I understand that this question is a bit open-ended, but I was hoping to get some opinions on: What are the pros and cons of each? Which would you suggest for a new project? Are there certain conditions when it would make sense to use one framework vs the other?

• Can an arbitrary email adress be used in workflow send email activity

  I'm wondering if there is any way to be able to include an arbitrary email address as the To:, From:, CC: or BCC: fields of a send email activity? It appears that they must be contacts in the CRM. I ask this because I have a requirement to cc a known group email (no actual user associated with the email...something like [email protected] it's not a queue at all). I'm concerned that if I create a CRM user for this email, that when I move to production, I'll have to change all the workflows using this email to point to the CRM entity on the production box (assuming GUID is saved with activity). If an arbitrary email isn't possible, any other suggestions? Thanks!

• where to enlist transaction with parent child delete (repository or bll)?

  My app uses a business layer which calls a repository which uses linq to sql. I have an Item class that has an enum type property and an ItemDetail property. I need to implement a delete method that: (1) always delete the Item (2) if the item.type is XYZ and the ItemDetail is not null, delete the ItemDetail as well. My question is where should this logic be housed? If I have it in my business logic which I would prefer, this involves two separate repository calls, each of which uses a separate datacontext. I would have to wrap both calls is a System.Transaction which (in sql 2005) get promoted to a distributed transaction which is not ideal. I can move it all to a single repository call and the transaction will be handled implicitly by the datacontext but feel that this is really business logic so does not belong in the repository.   I've been dealing with a legacy asp.net 2.0 web site that was originally setup to deploy everything (source uncompiled) to the target server. I've been looking at doing some major upgrades and want to move to asp.net mvc. I'm coming from mostly a Java background where we typically deploy everything inside of a Web ARchive (war file) and the application server takes it from there. Is there a similar concept in the .net world? Right now in my mvc test app, I just put the compiled code into the deployed bin folder and the rest of the script/view files there as well. From what I have been reading it seems that most use the Publish feature of VS.

• FireLog: proper installation...

  I have installed the firewiresdk26 on my dev mac... and in the Tools/ directory is FireLog. I have run the FireLog 2.0.0.pkg installer on my dev mac, but the payload it deploys is installed in my /System/Library tree, as opposed to my /Developer/SDKs tree. so when I try to include the header iokit/firewire/FireLog.h it does not get found. am I missing something? or doing something wrong? or is this an error in the installer (either FW26 or FireLog installers?) I realize that the FireLog installer is intended to be run on the machine to be debugged remotely and thus it makes sense that the framework is placed in the /System/Library path, however none of the installers gets it into my developer path... I guess I just have to move it over there by hand, but before I do that I wanted to see if I'm just overlooking something silly and need to read the docs with more concentration or something... anyone run into this before? • Want to load jquery dialog from a different web-page

  I'm a bit of a n00b with jquery so this one is probably an RTFM question: I'm writing an application to create a somewhat complex record for my client. Building the record requires doing a couple of server side searches inside a dialog. Right now I have everything framed up in 1 file (asp.net) and it's ok. But I can see as I add the business logic and the communication with the server this is going to get really ugly. I'm alreay putting most of the javascript in external files, but I'd like to move the HTML for the dialogs out too. How do I get the jquery dialog method to load the dialog body from the html files? Something like: getDialogHTML(dialogHolderDiv); <---magic goes here var dialogOptions = { ... }; $("#"+dialogHolderDiv).dialog(dialogOptions); $("#"+dialogHolderDiv).dialog('open'); any help will be apperciated .

  I am looking for a streaming CDN recommendation. Cost and performance are my chief concerns. Video viewers may be all over the globe, with the, US, Europe, Russia and South America topping the list (yes, I know that leaves out a little :-). I saw the following list of streaming CDNs in LinkedIn: Akamai, BitGravity, EdgeCast, Highwinds, Internap, Level3, Limelight, Mirror Image, Move Networks, Qbrick, SimpleCDN, StreamZilla, Swarmcast (streaming via HTTP), WINK Streaming...   I am trying to create an application on google app engine using struts2. Struts2 internally uses freemarker .One of the Freemarker framework classes suppose X internally uses a class javax.swing.Treenode which is not in google app engine jre white list. Now in order to run my application i created a new class X in the same package structure as it was in freemarker framework and copied the class to WEB-INF classes.Then When i run my application it run fine. The problem is that i want to take out the class X from my application sourcecode and move it to newly created jar and place it in WEB-INF/lib folder. So that i can reuse the code in multiple project and my code remains clean of the freemarker code. But when i run the application it picks the old class X from the original freemarker framework.As a result i get ClassNotFoundException. Can anyone provide any help such that i can change the ClassLoading order such that my jar containing X class loads first.

• How can I create a JTable where the first column is always in the JScrollPane viewport?

  What's the best way to set up a table in a JScrollPane such that the first column is always on the screen in the same position regardless of horizontal scrolling and overlaps columns that pass underneath? When the scrollbar is at the farthest left, the columns look normal, but as the user scrolls to the right, the secondary columns (2 and on) move underneath the first until the last column appears on the far right of the viewport? I found a sample taken from Eckstein's "Java Swing" book that sort of does this, but it doesn't allow resizing of the first column. I was thinking of some scheme where one JPanel held a horizontal struct and a table holding the secondary columns and another JPanel which floated over them (fixed regardless of scrolling). The struct would be to keep the viewport range constant as the first column floated around. Ideally I could do it with two tables using the same model, but I'm not sure if the whole idea is a naive solution.

• MUL instruction help

  I've read a few tutorials and examples, but I cannot wrap my head around how the MUL instruction works. I've used ADD and SUB without problems. So apparently this instruction multiplies its operand by the value in a register. What register (eax, ebp, esp, etc.) is multiplied by the first operand? And what register is the result stored in, so I can move it to the stack? Sorry, I'm just learning x86 assembly. When I try to compile this line... mull $9 I get, "Error: suffix or operands invalid for 'mul'". Can anyone help me out? Thanks. EDIT: OK Madhur, I replaced "mull" with "mul" and I'm still getting the same error. • Silverlight Binding to TranslateX

  I have a simple winphone7 application, but I think this would apply to any silverlight. Basically I have an ellipse and I would like to move it with the translate X and Y properties. [Line: 4 Position: 33] which is a XAML error. The error goes away when I comment out the composittransform line. Can anyone point me in a right direction?
