• How to organize XIB files with many overlapping elements?

  I have some XIB files which are very difficult to edit because many of the subviews overlap each other completely. For example, if I position a popup volume slider where it will pop up, it covers some UILabels which become impossible to click. My only chance to be able to edit them is to double-click on them in the Document window tree, move them aside, edit, then move them back. Sometimes there are 3 or more widgets that occupy the same location in the XIB, even though only a few are visible at a time while the application is running. How are conditionally-visible screen elements actually supposed to be organized? I would like to be able to hide groups of views to reveal what's beneath them, but I don't see a way to do that in IB. If I create UIViewControllers for every group, I can edit them in separate windows, but I can't see them in context, and I need a lot of view controllers...

• javascript disabling a div or a link? (for a 5-star rating system)

  Basically, I've created a 5-star rating system. Pretty typical. It shows how many stars other people have given the item, and then when a user hovers over the stars, it lights up x number of stars based on how many they're over. It's all run by AJAX. They click 5 stars it automatically adds their 5-star rating to the group. The problem is that after they rate it I want to turn the system off, but I can't seem to be able to do that. I've tried everything I can think of. I've tried using element.disable for the a hrefs and for the div, but it still lets them vote away, over and over again, at least in firefox.... Can anyone help me out with a method to simply "freeze" the stars on what the user voted?? If I need to add code that's cool! I figured it probably wasn't necessary in this situation!

  Say I have two entities Foo and Bar where Foo has-many Bar's, class Foo { int ImportantNumber { get; set; } IEnumerable<Bar> Bars { get; set; } } class FooDTO { Foo Foo { get; set; } int BarCount { get; set; } } How can I efficiently sum up the number of Bars per Foo in a DTO using a single query, preferrably only with the Criteria interface. I have tried any number of ways to get the original entity out of a query with ´SetProjection´ but no luck. The current theory is to do something like SELECT Foo.*, BarCounts.counts FROM Foo LEFT JOIN ( SELECT fooId, COUNT(*) as counts FROM Bar GROUP BY fooId ) AS BarCounts ON Foo.id=BarCounts.fooId but with Criterias, and I just can't seem to figure out how.

  So I have a list that I want to convert to a list that contains a list for each group of objects. ie ['objA.attr1', 'objC', 'objA.attr55', 'objB.attr4'] would return [['objA.attr1', 'objA.attr55'], ['objC'], ['objB.attr4']] currently this is what I use: givenList = ['a.attr1', 'b', 'a.attr55', 'c.attr4'] trgList = [] objNames = [] for val in givenList: obj = val.split('.')[0] if obj in objNames: id = objNames.index(obj) trgList[id].append(val) else: objNames.append(obj) trgList.append([val]) #print trgList It seems to run a decent speed when the original list has around 100,000 ids... but I am curious if there is a better way to do this. Order of the objects or attributes does not matter. Any ideas?

• Tracing or Logging Resource Governor classification function behavior in Sql Server 2008

  I'm trying to use the Resource Governor in SQL Server 2008 but I find it hard to debug the classification function and figure out what the input variables will have, i.e. does SUSER_NAME() contain the domain name? What does the APP_NAME() string look like? It's also hard to verify that it's working correctly. What group did the function return? The only way I can see this is to fire up the performance monitor and watch unblinkingly for little blips in the right CPU counter. Is there some way I can either run it in Debug mode, where I can set a breakpoint and step through and look at variable values, or can I at least do the old-school method of writing trace statements to a file so I can see what's going on? Thanks...

  Hello, I have a single user table and I'm trying to come up with a query that returns the total count of all users grouped by date along with the total count of users grouped by date who are of a specific client. Here is what I have thus far, where there's the total count of users grouped by date, but can't seem to figure out how to get the count of those users where user.client_id = x SELECT user.created, COUNT(user.id) AS overall_count FROM user GROUP BY DATE(user.created) trying for a row result like this: [created] => 2010-05-15 19:59:30 [overall_count] => 10 [client_count] => (some fraction of overall count, the number of users where user.client_id = x grouped by date)

  I'm trying to do a lookup on our demographioc table to display some stats. However, since out demographic table is quit big I want to do it in one query. There are 2 fields that are important: sex, last_login I want to be able to get the total number of logins for various date ranges (<1day ago, 1-7 days ago, 7-30 days ago, etc) GROUPED BY sex I right now know how to do it for one date range. For example less than 1 day ago: SELECT sex, count(*) peeps FROM player_account_demo WHERE last_demo_update>1275868800 GROUP BY sex Which returns: sex peeps UNKNOWN 22 MALE 43 FEMALE 86 However I'd have to do this once for each range. Is there a way to get all 3 ranges in there? I'd want my end result to look something like this: sex peeps<1day peeps1-7days peeps7-30days Thanks!

I guess that this is happening because some requests are lost or that the responses dont come in order..... Any idea what to do to keep it asynchronous?

  What are some useful SQL statements that should be known by all developers who may touch the Back end side of the project? (Update: just like in algorithm, we know there are sorting problems, shuffling problems, and we know some solutions to them. This question is aiming at the same thing). For example, ones I can think of are: Get a list of Employees and their boss. Or one with the employee's salary greater than the boss. (Self-join) Get a list of the most popular Classes registered by students, from the greatest number to the smallest. (Count, group by, order by) Get a list of Classes that are not registered by any students. (Outer join and check whether the match is NULL, or by Get from Classes table, all ClassIDs which are NOT IN (a subquery to get all ClassIDs from the Registrations table)) Are there some SQL statements that should be under the sleeve of all developers that might touch back end data?

  I trying to print a page with multiple tables. The problem is that any of these tables may break and carry over to the next page. Have been trying to get the table header to repeat on the second page. Am currently using thead and setting the display property to table-header-group. This works just as expected in IE and firefox but the header will not repeat in Safari. Since we are using software that converts our page to a pdf document for printing...and the 3rd party software uses a Safari engine, we are stuck with this problem. Does anyone know a way / workaround to make headers repeat if the table spans multiple pages in Safari?

  Hi guys, I've a form with different field, a validation summary and a button Sign up! When I click on Sign up, if a field is empty, it active validation summary and until here there's no problem. So the problem is that I would want active a jQuery script after it was clicked Sign up button and it appeared validation summary. I try with $(this).load(function() but in effect it occur when the page is load and not after the button is clicked. I try also use button's onclick ,but I have to use script after onclick and not while. I used Validation group for all field of form, also button and for this reason it seems doesn't postback!

Any better way to do this?

So i started out with this: select max(count(price)) from orders group by price which gives me 3. after some time i didn't think that was helpful. i believe i needed the value 14 and 21 rather the the count so i can put that in the where clause. but I'm stuck how to display that. any help?

To provide proper work for all methods, each of them contains following sections: void Method1(...) { try { ... required functionality } catch(MyException2 exc) { ... process exception of MyException2 type } catch(MyExc1 exc) { ... process exception of MyExc1 type } catch(Exception exc) { ... process exception of Exception type } ... process and return result if necessary } It is very boring to have exactly same stuff in EACH service method with exactly same exceptions processing functionality... Is there any possibility to "group" these catch-sections and use only one line (something similar to C++ macros)? Probably something new in .NET 4.0 is related to this topic? Thanks. P.S.   Basically, I want to pull data from August to May for a given set of dates. Using the between operator works as long as I do not cross the year marker (i.e. BETWEEN 8 AND 12 works -- BETWEEN 8 AND 5 does not). Is there any way to pull this data? Here is the SQL Query I wrote: SELECT count(*), MONTH(DateTime) FROM Downloads WHERE YEAR(DateTime) BETWEEN 2009 AND 2010 AND MONTH(DateTime) BETWEEN 8 AND 5 GROUP BY MONTH(DateTime) ORDER BY MONTH(DateTime)" Any help is appreciated.   I have a table where I keep all my templates: templates template_id template_name template_price These templates can be purchased by a registered user and then are inserted in the payments table: payments payment_id template_id user_id Is there a way to join these two tables and get not just a list of templates that have been purchased by a certain user, but all the templates? And then figure out from there which ones have already been purchased? I used this SELECT, but only the ones that the user bought showed up. I would like to have all the rows from templates, but empty in case the user_id doesn't match.   Though this might appear as a duplicate of Java Web Services , I would like to know Where to start and to continue.In the past, I have invested so much of time to find where to start but I wasn't able to. There are so many jargons and chaos (at least for me!) while reading the pages about web services. There are so many terms - like JAX-RPC, JAX-WS, Axis, Rest, Servlet as WebService, EJB's as Web Service and other terms that I don't know.
