Make it so damned difficult to cancel your windows phone dev account subscription, that you will just give up trying and pay as the easy route out.Very sad that it has come to this. Usually I would not approach an open forum such as my site for such issues, but the sad state of their affairs leaves me with no choice. Here is the issue, last year, I opened a WPDev account, for which you have to pay. Seeing that its been a year, I haven’t submitted anything, I didn’t want to renew my account and pay the fee. I guess if I ever write a WP app, I will reopen the subscription. Sounds about right huh? fair? So, what would you expect? Login to your account, find the subscription, hit cancel!   • How to prevent one account from unlocking products on other devices using Apple StoreKit?

    We are currently wrapping up a free-to-play game on iOS in which you can purchase non-consumable products. We have been discussing this case internally and are not quite sure what the best practices are as this is our first title. For example, if a user downloads our app, and makes some purchases. These can be restored should the app ever be deleted and reinstalled as long as the user uses the same Apple ID. What is to stop him from making a fake Apple account, purchasing items and then posting this account on the web allowing everyone to get the items for free? That is obviously a worst case situation. But a smaller case would be a user unlocking items for his friends. We do not want this to be an always online game but have considered doing a check on startup if there is internet available. If the currently logged in account doesn't own the products do we lock them again? Probably not because people may simply sign into the device with different Game Center logins at which point we don't want to constantly lock and unlock items. At some point we will be adding multiplayer at which point we can definately do a check with the currently logged in account. This is because A, they will be online when attempting multiplayer, and B, they will want to use their own account for multiplayer. Unfortunately we aren't quite ready for this yet. Has anyone tackled this issue. Are we overthinking here?

  • Making a calendar tool with Google API. Should I use OAuth Service Account?

    I'm creating a calendar tool for a client. He has his work calendars in a Google account, which I have access to. I'll be using the Google Calendar API for the tool, but I'm new to Google APIs and the OAuth stuff. I'll be using PHP. Do I need to use an OAuth2 Service Account, or should I make a regular OAuth2 Web Application Client ID from that Google account? In case this information is helpful, the tool I will be making will do this: 1) Allow my client to fill out a form which will create a new calendar and populate it with several events. 2) Send out an email to a mailing list twice a week listing changes that have been made to these calendars. I'll also be making a page that displays the iframes for each calendar, so his clients may see them even if they do not have a Google account.

So can a company have a main account to publish applications (free and chargeable) and still have some sort of client account for each app (so they could view sales and receive full payment directly)? I would like to know for Windows, Android and Apple please.

  • How to re-join an AD2003 domain with Samba after deleting the machine account?

    During some troubleshooting I deleted the machine account for a Linux server running samba from our AD 2003 domain. We are using Kerberos for authentication, and after I deleted the machine account I tried to join the domain again using net ads join -U Administrator But I keep getting Kerberos errors like these: [2009/08/18 16:14:36, 0] libads/kerberos.c:ads_kinit_password(228) kerberos_kinit_password [email protected] failed: Client not found in Kerberos database Failed to join domain: Improperly formed account name It appears as if samba remembers that it once had an account with the AD and keeps trying to reconnect to it, but I want to create a new account from scratch. I tried to delete all the .tdb files I could find as well as everything under /var/cache/samba but to no avail - it still behaves the same. I also tried to create the machine account on the AD side, but then I get a similar error when I try to join, about failure to authenticate with the machine account - it looks like samba tries the previous machine account password and I don't know how to reset it, or even if I could figure out what samba uses - how to set it in the AD. Any help would be greatly appreciated, as at this point the only thing I can think about is to reformat and reinstall the machine, and I would really REALLY love to not do that. Thanks in advance.

    I've got a computer running Windows 8 and in the user accounts I can see four accounts (they're in french, here's a rough translation): [email protected] / administrator Veronique YYY / [email protected] ASP.NET Machine Account / local account guest account / the guest account is desactivated I've got several questions but they're all related to email addresses and login names / accounts. Are email addresses mandatory for Windows 8 login names? Can you mix live and non-live user accounts on a Windows 8 system? Is it possible to have a live Windows 8 user account which is not using a @live.xx email address? Is it possible to have a non-live Windows 8 user account which is using a @live.xx email address? If the gmail.com email address of the admin is not a live Windows 8 account, does this mean I can create a "fake" email and use that as the email of a new Windows 8 account? Basically I don't understand very well why there are email addresses displayed on the login screen and why there are both @live.xx and @gmail.com email addresses on the same system and answer to the questions I asked above may help me understand a bit better what is going on (I'm coming from a Linux / OS X background. I literally haven't used Windows in more than a decade).

    I have a table (say "Demographics") on SQL Server. In this table are the following columns "LastName", "FirstName", "MiddleName", "Prefix" , "Suffix". I have one textbox to search for them on a webpage. My question: Whats a good design strategy for queries where the user could be searching for various combinations of names including last names that have spaces e.g. "Smith James Jr." . Our customers store Jr. sometimes in suffix and sometimes just tack it to lastname. Sometimes Smith James Jr could be the entire last name.

    In Python, if I were to have a user input the number X, and then the program enters a for loop in which the user inputs X values, is there a way/is it a bad idea to have variable names automatically increment? ie: user inputs '6' value_1 = ... value_2 = ... value_3 = ... value_4 = ... value_5 = ... value_6 = ... Can I make variable names increment like that so that I can have the number of variables that the user inputs? Or should I be using a completely different method such as appending all the new values onto a list?

    How can I replace the same text in folder names in linux? Say I have "Photos_Jun", "Photos_July", "Photos_Aug", etc. whats the simplest way I can rename them like "Photos Jun", "Photos July", etc (basically I want to replace the underscore with a space " ". I have about 200 of these folders. I was looking at solution: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/1836563/how-can-i-easily-bulk-rename-files-with-perl It looks like what im looking for however, I dont know how to make a regular expression to match folders that are alphanumeric followed by a "_".     I'm working on a project where we collect payments from users using credit/debit/PayPal payments. The service is taking payments from users on behalf of a 3rd party organisation. Once we take the payment, minus fees, we want to transfer the amount to the organisations bank account. For now, what we can do is pay the organisation using Online Banking BACS bank transfer. But I would like to know if there is a way to do this automatically using an API. If we need to somehow register the 3rd parties bank account details before making transfers, this is fine. We just want to automate the whole process, since at the moment the transfer is a manual step. Are there any gateways or APIs I can use for this? In the UK?

    We are a spanish speaking development team, we code in django and we all are pretty fluent in english, as all documentation, sample code, APIs, etc come in english. On our last project we chose to name all the variables, class names, modules, files and such in english, even though the whole application was in spanish, we kept a strings file where all our spanish was stored. We did this because it seemed more natural to read the whole code in one language, since keywords, constructs and dependencies have names in english. On new projects we are starting, we are having second thoughts about other teams mantaining our code or just having 3rd parties having to deal with templates or context in spanish. Do you know of any best practice on this matter?

I am working on an application where I have a long listing of different states approximately 20 states and each state consisting of several zones in addition to the weather forcast of each zone eventually. Now the thing is that I have already created the Listing of hardcore data in a list view of all the states. Again I need to add the hardcore data of several zones for each state(min 4 to 5 zones/ state). So , now I am wondering that whether I have to create the separate classes with hardcore names of all the zones in each state or is there any easy way out for doing the same.     When looking at the Contact Groups on Google Contacts or in the People application of my HTC Legend phone, I get the groups names ok eg: Friends, Family, VIP, Favorite etc... Others use the same variable names in the calling function and in the declaration/prototype but a different one in the definition as in: void blabla(int something); //prototype blabla(something) // calling function inside main after something has been initialized to int void blabla(int something_else) //definition I have two questions: What convention is best to use in C?; Does the convention apply regardless whether a value is being passed "by-value" or if it's being passed by a pointer?     I have a directory which contains several files, many of which has non-english name. I am using PHP in Windows 7. I want to list the filename and their content using PHP. Currently I am using DirectoryIterator and file_get_contents. This works for English files names but not for non-English (chinese) file names. For example, I have filenames like "?? ?? ?????????.eml", "hello ??????.eml". DirectoryIterator is not able to get the filename using ->getFilename() file_get_contents is also not able to open even if I hard code the filename in its parameter. How can I do it?

    “type” and “class” are likely reserved or problematic words in C# and/or Ruby, two languages I may use to program against my new database schema in the future. So, in order to avoid potential conflicts with those languages, I’m looking for alternative names for these field names in my tables. In this case, it is from my Machines table, where I have: “class” field (values would be something like “manual” or “computerized”) and “type” field (values would be “lathe” or “mill”) I could call the fields “machineclass” and “machinetype”, but that is inconsistent with naming scheme in the rest of my schema (meaning, I do not re-use the table name in the field… For instance, I use Machine.name, not Machine.machinename) Any thought on this madness?
