I am using a QNAP as an FTP server. Users access this NAS from their Mac OSX Lion clients and put files and folders inside the QNAP shares, which are later being accessed via FTP from external points.
The problem is that inside the folders uploaded to the QNAP folders Mac OS leaves its .DS_Store and .* hidden files.
I know that for a Samba share,…
I added a user account to my Windows XP box. Now this user is only accessing the pc remotely. My question is how can I remove that user from the login welcome screen? In fact how can I eliminate the welcome screen alltogeather and just log into the box automatically from the main user account?
Thanks
I'm looking for a background removal plug-in or software that automates or atleast eases the process of removing backgrounds from pictures / digital photos.
I have seen a few like Mask Pro 4, Snap and BackGround Remover all these are paid software.
I would like to know if there are any free solutions available before I invest in any of the…
In Lilypond the paper size can be set to A4, A5, Letter and so forth. However I have only a short song, and I want to embed it lateron. Therefore the output from Lilypond must be cropped somehow.
Is there a possibility to let Lilypond itself do this? Some setting to the \paper{} block, perhaps?

Is it possible to make a linux virtual machine appear as the host machine to a network tool like nmap or Blue's Port Scanner without recompiling the kernel?
My set up is as follows:
OS: CentOS 6.2 running on an OpenVZ virtual machine.
Web server: Nginx listening on port 8080
Reverse proxy: Varnish listening on port 80
The problem is that Varnish redirects my requests to port 8080 and this appears in the address bar like so http://mysite.com:8080/directory/, causing relative links on…
The built-in isight cam on my macbook machine keeps re-adjusting the lighting (and focus I think).
I need to manually set those, but I found nothing of any use in System Preferences or System Profiler.
Any way to access the settings ? Any magic terminal commands that allows access to the camera ? Anyone has a driver that allows for…
Is there a setting that I can configure to automatically scale large images like Firefox does?
I'm using Opera 10.53, and when I open a large image in a new tab, it is not scaled at all. I'm on a laptop, so it is hard to view, and when I am viewing multiple images, it is tedious to scale each image down to 20% or whatever fits it…
I would like for Notepad++ to add the closing tag when I finish typing the open tag. I know there is a plugin to do this for XML but it doesn't work on my HTML files and I have yet to find one that does.
This script works perfect it forces the trailing slash and hides the .php extension
BUT! it does not redirect people going directly to the .php extension.
How can I also force people going directly to the file.php to /file/
RewriteEngine On
RewriteRule ^(.*)/$ /$1.php [L]
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_FILENAME} !-f

We have an ubuntu box set up to do some monitoring but due to the placement are unable to run CAT5 to the box itself. I have an Atheros PCI card that works great as long as someone is logged into Gnome and it doesn't disconnect from the AP during that time.
Is there a way to have Ubuntu connect to the AP during boot, and…
As the title says, I am seeking a project planner with automatic resource levelling. It must be free for commercial use and a bonus, but not requirement, would be MS project import/export.
I like the look of Task Juggler, but it is at a stage of development hovering between v2 and v3.
Anything else? Basically, I want…
I have been working with Windows 7's command line and have some folders that begin with non-alphanumeric characters. When I try to use tab completion to complete the folder name, the initial character is not included inside of the quotation marks.
Example: C:\Users\username\!example is the folder I want to get into, but…
Something is repeatedly mounting my "media" share, doing something with it, then quietly un-mounting it with no notifications at the user level. from the little I can gleaned from the console messages below, I thought I'd managed to stop it, if not understand it last night when I followed instructions for deleting all…

I am looking out for a paid software where I can 'choose' an IP address from a different country and browse a site. So if I want to see how the site will look to US users, I should be able to choose the IP from US.
