• How does one build Mono with only the ECMA covered parts?

  I'm trying to figure out how to build Mono without the patented, non ECMA components, such as Winforms. Miguel de Icaza said that Mono would be split in two, so that we could build only the parts under Microsoft's Community Promise. It doesn't seem like this has happened yet. Is there any way to do this yet?

• Workstation Build: Single 2.66ghz i-7 with overclock potential, OR Dual 5520 2.26ghz Xeons?

  There are probably better places to ask this, but I am used to the excellent quality of responses on stack overflow. I am rebuilding my desktop in a few months. Aside from normal lightweight internet usage, I use it to run sqlServer, mySql, 1-2 Ubuntu VMs from time to time, lots of IDE's, and a media server for my PS3. The two possible setups cost the exact same amount (within $50) and would both have 12gb 1333mhz ddr3 ram and a 500gb RAID-0 array (250x2). Now, If I go with a single i-7 920 2.66ghz quadcore, I can easily overclock it to 3ghz, and would have cash leftover to get a 160gb ssd (either the ocz vertex or the 120gb intel) for the main OS/Program install drive. Else, I could get a dual lga1366 motherboard with two e5520 Xeon's (2.26ghz),just use the disks I already have. So, do I go for 8 physical/16 virtual cores at 2.26ghz (No overclocking on server boards) with normal disk I/O, or a 4 physical/8 virtual cores at 3.0ghz with really outstanding disk I/O?

• Programatically find TFS changes since last good build

  I have several branches in TFS (dev, test, stage) and when I merge changes into the test branch I want the automated build and deploy script to find all the updated SQL files and deploy them to the test database. I thought I could do this by finding all the changesets associated with the build since the last good build, finding all the sql files in the changesets and deploying them. However I don't seem to be having the changeset associated with the build for some reason so my question is twofold: 1) How do I ensure that a changeset is associated with a particular build? 2) How can I get a list of files that have changed in the branch since the last good build? I have the last successfully built build but I'm unsure how to get the files without checking the changesets (which as mentioned above are not associated with the build!)

Start typing on the command line and then type Ctrl-x Ctrl-e, it should drop you into your system's default editor (hopefully Vim) and allow you to edit the command line from there.   I've a bash script that runs a ruby script that fetches my twitter feeds. ## /home/username/twittercron #!/bin/bash cd /home/username/twitter ruby twitter.rb friends It runs successfully in command line. /home/username/twittercron But when I try to run it as a cronjob, it ran but wasn't able to fetch the feeds. ## crontab -e */15 * * * * * /home/username/twittercron The script has been chmod +x. Not sure why it's as such. Any ideas?

  My project (an interpreted language) has a standard library composed by multiple files, each of them will be built into an .so dynamic library that the interpreter will load upon user request (with an import directive).   Hypothetical situation. I have a command line program in *nix (linux, BSD, etc.). It was written so that you pass it a text file as an argument $ program file.txt Run the program, it looks at the text in file.txt. Is it possible to "trick" this program into accepting input from a file stream rather than reading a file via disk? I'm pretty comfortable using unix pipes to do stuff, but there's still something a little mysterious about their internals that make it so I can't say (definitively) yes or not to the above question.

However the process is not running when the program finishes. Is it possible that the JVM kills the program after it has run? Why doesn't this work?

• Compiling and executing through commandLine shows NoClassDefFoundError when trying to find Java pack

  I have a client/server program that attempts to send and receive an object. There are three packages: server, client and shared shared contains only the Message class I put Message.java from shared package into the same folder as calcclient package source files and calcserver package source files. I compile using the line: javac -classpath .; Message.java They can compile. Then I change directory up one level and ran with: java -classpath .; .Main When I use Netbeans to run, the entire program works as per normal. But not if I run from command line. If its executed through command line, the program will work until it needs to use the Message object. Then it will show a NoClassDefFoundError Am I putting the right files at the right places? How do I get the program to find shared package through command line?
