• What is the bit size of long on 64-bit Windows?

  Not to long ago someone told me that long are not 64 bits on 64 bit machines and i should always use int. This did not make sense to me. I seen docs (such as the one on apples official site) say that long are indeed 64 bits when compiling for a 64bit CPU. I looked up what it was on windows and found Windows: long and int remain 32-bit in length, and special new data types are defined for 64-bit integers. from http://www.intel.com/cd/ids/developer/asmo-na/eng/197664.htm?page=2 What should i use? should i define something like uw, sw ((un)signed width) as a long if not on windows. Otherwise do a check on the target CPU bitsize?

• Creating a dataframe in pandas by multiplying two series together

  Say I have two series in pandas, series A and series B. How do I create a dataframe in which all of those values are multiplied together, i.e. with series A down the left hand side and series B along the top. • Display content in folder like Wordpress displays Themes

  Hi, I’ve throughout the last couple of years downloaded a lot of templates for websites and these are now starting to become chaotic in the different folders so I’m starting to get a overview of the different templates. Regarding to this I was thinking about the way that WordPress displays the different themes installed in the themes folder. It provides a small overview (thumbnail) of the theme and a possibility to preview the theme. Of cause, I don’t need or want such a advanced system as Wordpress but I’m attractive to the idea of displaying my templates in the same kind of manner and without using a Database. I’ve played around with different directory management scripts and tools for PHP but the best result I’ve got so fare is just to display the different content in the different folders but not create a preview which in each preview it will use the webpage itself and it’s stylesheets, images, etc. Does anyone have an idea how to create such a script or have a link to a already existing script.   I'm using: ForceType text/html;charset=utf-8 in my .htaccess file, but it's causing all externally linked CSS to stop rendering on their respective pages. So something like this: <link rel="stylesheet" type="text/css" href="somestyles.css" media="all" /> no longer works on the page using it. I've also been trying combinations of: AddCharset utf-8 .html AddCharset utf-8 .htm AddCharset utf-8 .css AddCharset utf-8 .js ForceType text/html;charset=utf-8 ForceType text/css;charset=utf-8 but no luck so far. Does anyone know what's wrong?

• Converting 24BPP to 4BPP with GDI+ in VB.NET

  My VB.NET program currently takes a 4BPP TIFF as an Bitmap, converts it to a Graphic, adds some text strings and then saves it out again as a TIFF file. The output Bitmap.Save() TIFF file by default seems to be 24BPP (regardless of the input) and is a lot larger than the original TIFF. Is it possible to keep the same 4BPP palette encoding as the input for the output and if not, how can I convert my Bitmap PixelFormat from 24BPP to 4BPP Indexed. I've seen an example for converting 24 BPP to 1 BPP at http://www.bobpowell.net/onebit.htm using BitmapData.Lockbits() but cannot figure out how to do it for 4BPP. Many thanks Chris

  I have a few simple questions, because I got confused reading all difference responses. 1) If I have an xml with prolog: and I'm going to unmarshall it with Java (for example: JaXB). I suppose, that I can't put CROSS OF LORRAINE (http://www.fileformat.info/info/unicode/char/2628/index.htm) inside, but I can put "\u2628", correct? 2) I've also heard that UTF-8 doesn't contain it, but anything in Unicode can be saved with encoding UTF-8 (or UTF-16), and here is an example from this page: UTF-8 (hex) 0xE2 0x98 0xA8 (e298a8) Is my reasoning correct? Can I use this form and put it in the xml with utf-8 encoding?

I added some php code to my HEADER.html (which is in the root directory / ), I am trying to add to htaccess: AddType application/x-httpd-php .html .php .htm This not working, I think because the HEADER.html is in the root. If I try add the AddType... to the /.htaccess (and not to the /stackoverflow/.htaccess) it is overwriting my /stackoverflow/.htaccess rules. Why? How I can add AddType rule to my /stackoverflow/.htaccess to Apache parse html file as php file?

• Can I use Win32 FreeType without the .dll file?

  Hello. I'm teaching myself OpenGL and I'm implementing ttf text rendering using FreeType 2. I downloaded the library from http://gnuwin32.sourceforge.net/packages/freetype.htm and after a couple of minor issues I got it running properly. The thing that's bothering me is that I have to place a copy of freetype6.dll in the directory with my executable in order for the thing to run. I generally try to avoid a bunch of unnecessary dll files floating around. I'm sort of new to windows programming, but from what I understand most libraries can be built to run fully from a lib rather than requiring a dll at runtime. Looking through the documentation from FT is making my brain melt, so I thought I would ask here to see if there were any devs that have worked with FT before and if so, do they know how to build the library such that no dll is required at runtime.   Hi, follow this question, I was able to set some textareas in my admin page as richtext inputs. The most voted answer suggests to follow an example and is what i did. Also, it talks about a problem concerning "blank pages". I'm having the same problem and I'm not able to solve it. I have my media files served by a different server, so MEDIA_URL points to a different host with a different port. To simulate this in my dev environment, I also serve media files from a different port. Debugging the failing javascript, Chrome yelds: Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://localhost:8000/admin/blog/post/add/ from frame with URL http://localhost:88/s3mangerie/js/tiny_mce/themes/advanced/image.htm. Domains, protocols and ports must match. How to solve this problem? Thanks

  I'm creating a Spring MVC application that will have a controller with 'RequestMapping'-annotated methods, including a JSON method. It currently has static content that resides in webapps/static, and the app itself resides in webapps/myapp. I assume that Catalina's default servlet is handling the static content, and my *.htm url-pattern in web.xml is returning the request for my JSP page, but I haven't been able to get the JSON method to be called. How do I write the url-pattern in the servlet mapping to do so? Using /* has not worked; it prevents the app from being accessed at all. Is there anything else to be aware of? EDIT: The url-pattern '/' appears to allow the JSON request through, because a 406 error is returned. What then would need to be modified to allow JSON to be returned?

• Is there a certain IIS configuration required to allow a functioning .Net 4.0 ASP.Net MVC 2 Azure ap

  I just installed the Azure 1.2 tools update and would like to get to work on an Azure project running locally using ASP.Net MVC and .Net 4, but I cannot get MVC pages to load. If I just create a new Azure project in VS 2010, add a ASP.Net MVC web role, and run the application, pages never load. It appears that routing is somehow at fault as controller actions never get called, but if I add other pages to the project (like .htm or .aspx) they will load in the browser. It all works fine with a new project using .Net 3.5, MVC 2 project in the Azure development environment; it all works fine with .Net 4.0 MVC 2 project that is not running in Azure; only the combination does not work. Environment is Win 7 x64 (IIS 7.5), VS 2010, Azure tools 1.2 Is there some magic IIS setting I need to change or something? Any ideas?

• NerdDinner difficulties

  Hello guys, I'm having a problem with the Create method of the NerdDinner tutorial, which is very good BTW. As you can see here http://nerddinnerbook.s3.amazonaws.com/Part5.htm in the Create method, he removed the ID field of the aspx page. I did that too, but I cannot add any dinners because I get a primary key violation. How is NerdDinner controlling the ids of each dinner? I revised the tutorial and could not see any references to identity fields on SQL database. I even created a method to get me the highest id in the table: public int GetHighestDinnerId() { int resultado = (from dinner in dataContext.Dinners select dinner.DinnerId).Max(); return resultado; } which does not work either. However, when the image has already been cached, it doesn't use the preloading script and thus does not send the play trigger to jplayer.
