  • Strange Java Coding??? Class in class???

    Hi guys, I got a question about Java coding in general... In some sample codes there are methods and classes declared WITHIN other methods and/or classes.... I've never heard/red about this...what effect does this kind of programming have? Wouldn't it be better to write down classes in a seperate file and methods side by side and not within each other (like every book tells you)? What are the advantages and disadvantages of this kind of programming?     when i put ajax on my code I send a group of variable via post but when i received the data it is in a obj.responseText ie TEXT format. say i have two files "form.php" and "index.php" ajax is implemented in form.php while index.php returns the text. but my problem is index.php also generates a variable named "tarriff_count" i want to catch systematically and separately this variable, Is there any systematic way to catch variable.also keep in mind "obj.responseText" is very complicated to get a variable from "preg_match" ?

  • Strange sql query result from Mysql and from PHP mysqli_query!

    this is the query command echo from php web page: SELECT DISTINCT FT.file_type_name AS type,FT.file_type_en AS tp,FT.file_type_id AS fti, MATCH(keywords) AGAINST ('words <2' IN BOOLEAN MODE ) AS score FROM movie AS M,file_type AS FT WHERE MATCH (keywords) AGAINST ('words <2' IN BOOLEAN MODE ) AND M.type_cn = FT.file_type_id HAVING score >=1 ORDER BY FT.file_type_order; I am running above query in MySQL tools HeidiSQL and got only tow row records which score are 1.66666 and 2. If I remove the HAVING clause I would got three row records with one's score less than 1. But the same query I get from PHP mysqli_query() were all the three records and the one which score less than 1 became 1. What is the problem. Any tips will be pleasure. Thank you very much!!

    Am I doing something wrong if I need code like this in a Controller? Should I be doing something differently? public ActionResult Details(int id) { var svc = new ServiceClient(); var model = new MyViewModel(); model.ObjectA = svc.GetObjectA(id); model.ObjectB = svc.GetObjectB(id); model.ObjectC = svc.GetObjectC(id); return View(model); } The reason I ask, is because I've got Linq-To-Sql on the back end and a WCF Service which exposes functionality through a set of DTOs which are NOT the Linq-To-Sql generated classes and thus do not have the parent/child properties; but in the detail view, I would like to see some of the parent/child data.

I expected the pipes to be between the variables. Why are the pipes getting printed after all the three variables?

In the code sample above I have 2 Label controls with their contents set to an h1 header tag. The first Label is styled using css, and the second with the Label's inline properties (both Labels have identical styling). But the first Label doesn't output properly, it's border is broken. If I replace the first Label's markup with plain "Hello world" text it renders properly, but it breaks again when I use markup. Can someone explain why this is happening?

  • How to resolve strange conflict between form post and ajax post?

    On the one page, I am trying to use ajax to edit existing values. I am doing this by using jQuery Inline Edit and posting away the new data, updating the record and returning with success. This is working fine. Next I have implemented the ability to add new records, to do this I have a form at the end of the table, which submits post data then redirects back to the original page. Each of them work individually, but after I have used the form to add a new record, the inline editing stops to work. If I close the webpage and reopen it, it works fine again until I have used the form and it goes of the rails again. I have tried a number of solutions, clearing session data, giving the form a separate name, redirecting to an alternative page (which does work, but is not ideal as I want the form to redirect back to the original location ).   • What's the deal with rubygems on Debian? It's different and strange.

    I've noticed at least the following oddities around rubygems on Debian (5.0 lenny in my case): Packages go into a different installation location: /var/lib/gems vs /usr/lib/ruby/gems The debian package is rubygems 1.3.6, and updating rubygems to the latest version (1.3.7) doesn't work: $ sudo gem update --system ERROR: While executing gem ... (RuntimeError) gem update --system is disabled on Debian. RubyGems can be updated using the official Debian repositories by aptitude or apt-get. Not all gems appear to work like they do on other systems. For instance, when installing Phusion Passenger, it did not detect the "rack" gem even though it was definitely installed. Manually installing rubygems using the source tarball and reinstalling all my gems (to /usr/lib/ruby/gems) made my problems go away. What's the deal? Why is debian's package different?

  • How to avoid strange characters before the request in firefox?

    Hi, on a website i'm currently developing I'm using jquery to do all sort of magic things :-) In firefox however, when I load jquery 1.4.2 there are sometimes funny characters in front of the request. You can see the strangers characters in this screenshot (thank you firebug). In safari, Chrome and IE these funny characters don't appear, jquery is loading fine in those browsers. Why are those characters appearing and how can I remove them? Thanks!!

  • Strange error that I've never encounter in c++ before, anyone know what it means?

    Hi, I won't post any code, because there is too much that could be relevant. But When I run my program it prints Internal Bad Op Name! : Success Anybody even know what that means? I'm using g++ to compile my code and nowhere in my code do I cout anything even remotely close to something like that. I don't know where it's coming from. Also, any suggestions as to figure out where in the code it's coming from, maybe using gdb somehow to do that? Thanks!

  • Rails 3 HABTM Strange Association: Project and Employee in a tree.

    Hi guys I have to adapt an existing model to a new relation. I have this: A Project has many Employees. the Employees of a Project are organized in some kind of hierarchy (nothing fancy, I resolved this adding a parent_id for each employee to build the 'tree') class Employee < AR:Base belongs_to :project belongs_to :parent, :class_name => 'Employee' has_many :childs, :class_name => 'Employee', :foreign_column => 'parent_id' end class Project < AR:Base has_many :employees, end That worked like a charm, now the new requirement is: The Employees can belong to many Projects at the same time, and the hierarchy will be different according to the project. So I though I will need a new table to build the HABTM, and a new class to access the parent_id to build the tree. Something like class ProjectEmployee < AR:Base belongs_to :project belongs_to :employee belongs_to :parent, :class_name => 'Employee' # <--- ?????? end class Project < AR:Base has_many :project_employee has_many :employees, :through => :project_employee end class Employee < AR:Base has_many :project_employee has_many :projects, :through => :project_employee end How can I access the parent and the childs of an employee for a given project? I need to add and remove childs as wish from the employees of a project. Thank you!

  • Strange problem installing a setup that I have just created.

    Hello, I have both VS 2005 and 2008 installed. Just today I created a setup project in 2005 and I got this error when I tried to installed it. "The folder path 'http://sharingcentre.info' contains an invalid character." So I decided to create a simple project and added a new setup in 2005 and got the same problem. I then converted the project to 2008 and added another new setup. The same problem happened again. However, a previous setup project I created before work ok. I can install my application. Its only from today I cannot install any of my new setup projects. Using either 2005 and 2008. Has anyone else had this same problem. Searching google doesn't give me any real responses, I give the error message is too vague. many thanks for any suggestions,

  • A strange issue... No code changes getting reflected.

    I am using netbeans to develop an applet, i have a piece of code which looked like this: ipAddresss = DEFAULT_IP; System.out.println("portlet.services.hostname:" + ipAddresss); Now I changed it to something like this: ipAddresss = DEFAULT_IP; System.out.println("portlet.services.hostname using default IP Address:" + ipAddresss); But no matter what I do, it sill keep on printing: portlet.services.hostname:null I have tried deleting all .netbeans folder from documents and settings, tried creating new project, but now i am completely baffled by this issue... So, the problem is, no matter what I do, no change is getting reflected when I run the program. Can there be a java applet cache, netbeans cache, i am not sure why...

  • Nested modal view controller gives strange message under iOS6?

    I am presenting a modal view controller from another modal view controller, and this worked fine under all iOS versions prior to iOS6. But under iOS6 I am getting the following warning message in the emulator: Warning: Attempt to present <UINavigationController: 0x14e93680> on <UINavigationController: 0x9fc6b70> while a presentation is in progress! The modal view controller is not shown if this warning appears.     Hi I know there's a http://www.upcdatabase.com/ website that allows you to lookup barcodes. This website however does not return anything for thousands of normal household items. I have seen free apps on mobile phones that can do this and list the exact product name along with price comparison. Does anyone know of good websites (even commercial ones) that have a good/reliable database that one could use for lookups?
