  • xrandr shows two displays (LVDS1), but how can I use VGA1 only?

I connected an external VGA to it.   • Nvidia Ion HDMI output problems.

    I bought ACERREVO, first I connected it to the SONY TV Via HDMI output for few days it worked very well and one fine day when switch the computer on it boots and TV screen becomes black and message on the TV shows -no input signal. I connect it to Samsung LED TV, it did the same. What do you guys think the problem is how to tackle this issue. Any help is deepley appreciated.

  • How do I prevent windows opening on one of my desktops?

    I have 2 monitors and a tv screen connected to my computer. The tv is angled so I can watch it in bed but is facing away from my desk (and usually switched off). Sometimes applications open on the monitor and I have to fiddle around with the "Move" menu option to bring them back to one of the screens I can see. I don't want to disable the tv as I will just have to reenable it when I want to watch something on it, so how can I prevent applications opening on the tv?

    Is There any possible way to upgrade the retro G-con Light Gun for PS1 to allow it to interact with HD TV's? I am aware that they were Designed purely for Tube TV's but I would be happy to know of any hardware that would maybe convert the light to hit the Pixels on an LCD TV. If not is there any other Light gun that would work on PS1 games but has the newer light gun hardware that can interact with a higher Pixel LCD TV?

  • phpmyadmin shows numbers or blob for mysql's utf8_bin callation columns?

    Hi ! I have a table with a varchar column. Its collation is set to utf8_bin. My software using this table and column works perfectly. But when I look at the content in phpmyadmin, I only see some hex values or [Blob xB]. Can I make phpmyadmin show the content correctly? Besides, when I set the collation to utf8_general_ci or utf8_unicode_ci, the phpmyadmin shows the content correctly. Thx Marc [edit]Hah, I found out, there is a small "+Options" link above every table in phpmyadmin. It opens several options including "Show BLOB contents" - which makes the [blob] to readable text when enabled and "Show binary contents as HEX" which shows the hex codes as text when disabled. No idea why there are two options though and why sometimes there is a [Blob] and sometimes hex values. Well. Now I'm still wondering: Setting these options get lost when I go to another table. I have to set them every time I go there. Is there a way to save those options? [/edit]

  • 24" Flatscreen with a QAM? [closed]

    My college just changed their cable setup so only digital TV's or HDTV's with a QAM tuner are able to receive any cable channels in the dorm room. It wouldn't be a problem for me, except there's only one digital/HD set in my house and it's the one in our family room that my parents aren't willing to give to me for use at school, so we're looking to buy a budget flatscreen that's wide enough for my tastes (19" ain't gonna cut it) and will receive channels at school via QAM. Anyone know of any good deals and where to get them? Keep in mind, my parents prefer popular brands like Samsung, LG, Hitachi, Panasonic, etc.

He extended his dedication of serving the society to small screen with the launch of reality TV show Satyamev Jayate. Before you start misjudging it as one of those non sense drama / entertaining reality shows, let me tell you that it is not a typical music, games, fight or dance reality show. Satyamev Jayate is all about the real people of India, their problems and how to tackle them.  This is not just a reality show, its movement to educate people about the social evils. Its been many years since I spent couple of hours  in front of TV as most of the programs are too cynical or does not add much value.  In my childhood I use to anxiously wait for Mahabarath or He-Man TV shows to start but after a two decades I waited anxiously for the start of Satyamev Jayate. The wait was worth and the 1 hours 30 minutes spent watching it meaningful. When was the last time you were so satisfied after watching a TV show and inspired to do something? I don’t remember. Today, the show focused on female foeticide and its impact. It showed women who were tortured and forced to abort female foetuses. On the show few brave women shared their experiences of giving birth to girl babies and rough times they are going through with their in-laws & husbands. The show not only focused on the problem but also on the root cause of the evil,  inspiring people working to tackle it and what every individual can do his part to solve it.  The best part of the show is,  its not a blame game. When there is a problem most of the people quickly get into identifying who is wrong and start blaming them instead of solve the actual problem.  Aamir did not blame anyone for female foeticide – neither the government who don’t impose strict rules, nor the doctors who abort girl babies to make money or the mother-in-laws & husbands who torcher girl baby mothers are blamed. He careful highlighted the problem, showed horrifying statistics and their impact on the future society and few inspiring people working to tackle the problem.  He touched heart and stirred a movement against the issue. First time ever I voted for a reality show through SMS and it’s for Satyamev Jayate. I’m proud to do so.   • New 3TB HDD, can see full 2.7TB in Linux and Windows, but shows up as 801.6GB in BIOS

    I recently purchased a Seagate Barracuda 3TB drive (ST3000DM001). After installing it, my BIOS recognized it but reported the size as 801.6gb. I went ahead and booted into Linux anyway (Ubuntu 11.10 64-bit). Linux saw it as a 2.7TB. Following some online instructions (don't have the link handy, unfortunately), it looks liked converting this drive to GPT was recommended. So I used gparted to do that, then formatted it to NTFS also using gparted. (I'm using NTFS because my machine is daul-boot and I want to have access to the drive in Windows too). I rebooted to Windows (Windows 7 64-bit), and Windows also sees the drive with 2.7TB free. Everything seems to be working fine. The only issue is that my BIOS is still reporting the drive as 801.6GB. My motherboard is an ASRock 770 Extreme3 and BIOS is the latest version. Since everything seems to be working with the new drive anyway, I'm hoping that the fact that the BIOS is reporting the wrong size is not an actual problem. But honestly, I don't really know. Anyone out there more familiar with this know if this could potentially cause any problems in the future? Any way to get the BIOS to report the correct size?

    I would like to ask if you know how to fix a corrupted USB? I've tried the diskpart command but it didn't work. The media is write protected. Do you have any idea that is much better? I need to fix it because I have important files in my flash drive. I really need to retrieve it. I saw that the file system is seen as RAW and is unaccessible. I tried error checking, but it requires you to format it. I tried data recovery software but all files come out corrupted. My USB is Imation 4GB. Any suggestions?

  • Is there a small business router that shows bandwidth usage graphs in the admin panel?

    I support a large number of public libraries that are having their networks upgraded in response to a grant application. These libraries are generally home to between 6-15 computers and have little or no tech services either onsite or contracted remotely. In order to justify current and future purchases, a number of the libraries have requested routers that can provide bandwidth usage graphs that they can show to their managing boards. Is there a small business router that displays traffic graphs in the router administration web interface? The router needs to suppport DHCP and basic firewalling. No other features are required. Further, the reports just need to show overall trends. It is not necessary to show traffic by IP, by protocol/application, or by time of day. They just need an overall week to week, month to month, trend line. I'm familiar with MRTG/PRTG/tools that collect SNMP data from the router, but the libraries don't have the expertise for the configuration. I've considered installing the tomato firmware on some cheap home/home office routers, but if there's a commercial product that can be purchased that would be significantly simpler. Also the library boards would be much more likely to approve the purchase of a commercial product over a 'hacked' one. Any assistance would be appreciated.
