• Can't see images used in slideshow or other jQuery plug-ins in Internet Explorer 8

  I am getting a weird error. I can see images in slideshow, lightbox, etc. in Firefox and Chrome but in Internet Explorer 8 there are no images. Something is wrong with JavaScript/jQuery I think. I am using jQuery 1.4.2, jquery.flow.1.2.min.js jquery.bgpos.js jquery.easing.1.3.js jquery.lightbox-0.5.min.js jquery.validate.js cufon-yui.js jquery.galleriffic.js DD_belatedPNG.js clearbox.js Please check this. I have pasted images under slideshow, you can see those at http://kaisweb.com/projects/resume/ and http://kaisweb.com/projects/resume/index.php?p=templates. I tried to search but couldn't find anything. Even if I remove jQuery, still there are no images in Internet Explorer 8.

  Hi, follow this question, I was able to set some textareas in my admin page as richtext inputs. The most voted answer suggests to follow an example and is what i did. Also, it talks about a problem concerning "blank pages". I'm having the same problem and I'm not able to solve it. I have my media files served by a different server, so MEDIA_URL points to a different host with a different port. To simulate this in my dev environment, I also serve media files from a different port. Debugging the failing javascript, Chrome yelds: Unsafe JavaScript attempt to access frame with URL http://localhost:8000/admin/blog/post/add/ from frame with URL http://localhost:88/s3mangerie/js/tiny_mce/themes/advanced/image.htm. Domains, protocols and ports must match. How to solve this problem? Thanks

• How to enforce remote gnupg signing of Mercurial repository only when new tags are created?

  I know how to configure the Mercurial signing extension. The problem that I'm having is that I don't want to sign each individual change set, I only want to sign revisions that introduce new version tags. That's easily accomplished locally, however I can't come up with a way to enforce this on the remote server. I'd like people to continue to be able to push their changes as normal, unless adding a release tag, which should be accompanied by a signature. The end result should be that anyone cloning our repository can easily see a list of signed revisions, which point to a list of signed releases. Hopefully, I've just missed something obvious in hooklib. Has anyone else accomplished this, if so, how?

• Honor Whitespace padding to display columns in fixed width <select>

The problem is the whitespace is contracted so that the columsn don't line up. SAme results in FF, IE6 and Chrome. What am I missing?

• How to debug a GWT application running on OSGi?

  I'm developing a web UI using GWT. While working only with the widgets I could debug from Eclipse using the Firefox extension, but now that I'm integrating the UI with other OSGi bundles I cannot use this solution. For deploying the GWT application I create the .war and convert it to an OSGi bundle using BND. Then I launch the OSGi container with all the bundles using Pax Runner and Pax Web and the application works correctly, but when something fails in the generated javascript code I don't have any decent output error or debugging facility. Is there any way to launch the GWT application in "debug mode" from OSGi? Any other idea that could help in this scenario?

• Set User Defined Language Programmatically

  I've been trying to select the User Defined Language programmatically unsuccessfully through various means, another problem is the files I need to apply the user defined language have no file extension, old DOS files; NPPM_SETCURRENTLANGTYPE (only enumerates built-in languages) Macros don't seem to sense changes with language selection, I was hoping to record a macro then trigger it with NPPExec. Notepad++ accepts only in-built languages for starting from the command line I can't select a UDL as the default language for a new document. ...and my attempts at overriding an in-built language seem to have failed. I've copied details from userDefinedLang.xml to langs.xml don't work. The highlighting doesn't change. Thanks for any help!!

• Access event.target in IE8 unobstrusive Javascript

When I try to debug it with IE8 I get the error "Member not Found" on the line: targetElement = evt.srcElement; along with other subsequent errors, but I think this is the key line. Any help will be appreciated.

I am not sure but i tried installing firephp extension and soon after that I’m having my screen looks like the screenshot. ** please check the link provided! • Internet Explorer generates extra br

  I have an issue where Internet Explorer is generating an additional br element that is not in my source. The additional br effects the page's layout and is visible when using the developer tool. I've tried removing all hard returns between the surrounding elements but the additional br persists. Firefox and Chrome do not have this issue. Ideas on what I can do to fix the issue? • Disable auto resize this page when opening in IE

  If open yahoo finance chart in IE, the chart will be resized to fit the viewing window, and making the chart viewable without scrolling down. However, this makes the chart become smaller for me. I would like to see original size, which requires me to click the setting bar and change something to make it restore original size. The chart shows original size in Chrome. Is it possible to view original size in IE by passing some parameters in url? I was trying looking into source code but found nothing.

  In HTML5, CSS selectors seem to operate well with data-* attributes. But, attempts to select such elements using the selectors-api fail. • Why does calling IEnumerable<string>.Count() create an additional assembly dependency ?

  Assume this chain of dll references Tests.dll >> Automation.dll >> White.Core.dll with the following line of code in Tests.dll, where everything builds result.MissingPaths Now when I change this to result.MissingPaths.Count() I get the following build error for Tests.dll "White.UIItem is not defined in an assembly that is not referenced. You must add a reference to White.Core.dll." And I don't want to do that because it breaks my layering. Here is the type definition for result, which is in Automation.dll public class HasResult { public HasResult(IEnumerable<string> missingPaths ) { MissingPaths = missingPaths; } public IEnumerable<string> MissingPaths { get; set; } public bool AllExist { get { return !MissingPaths.Any(); } } } Down the call chain the input param to this ctor is created via (The TreeNode class is in White.Core.dll) assetPaths.Where(assetPath => !FindTreeNodeUsingCache(treeHandle, assetPath)); Why does this dependency leak when calling Count() on IEnumerable ? I then suspected that lazy evaluation was causing this (for some reason) - so I slotted in an ToArray() in the above line but didn't work. Update 2011 01 07: Curiouser and Curiouser! it won't build until I add a White.Core reference. So I add a reference and build it (in order to find the elusive dependency source). Open it up in Reflector and the only references listed are Automation, mscorlib, System.core and NUnit. So the compiler threw away the White reference as it was not needed. ILDASM also confirms that there is no White AssemblyRef entry. Any ideas on how to get to the bottom of this thing (primarily for 'now I wanna know why' reasons)? What are the chances that this is an VS2010/MSBuild bug? Update 2011 01 07 #2 As per Shimmy's suggestion, tried calling the method explcitly as an extension method Enumerable.Count(result.MissingPaths) and it stops cribbing (not sure why). However I moved some code around after that and now I'm getting the same issue at a different location using IEnumerable - this time reading and filtering lines out of a file on disk (totally unrelated to White). Seems like it's a 'symptom-fix'. var lines = File.ReadLines(aFilePath).ToArray(); once again, if I remove the ToArray() it compiles again - it seems that any method that causes the enumerable to be evaluated (ToArray, Count, ToList, etc.) causes this. Let me try and get a working tiny-app to demo this issue... Update 2011 01 07 #3 Phew! More information.. It turns out the problem is just in one source file - this file is LINQ-phobic. Any call to an Enumerable extension method has to be explicitly called out. • <audio> element autobuffers no matter what

  I'm trying to make a web based media player using the HTML5 audio element implemented in Firefox 3.5 and Chrome. Reading Mozillas documentation, omitting the autobuffer attribute should result in the audio src not being requested: if specified, the audio will automatically begin being downloaded, even if not set to automatically play. This continues until the media cache is full, or the entire audio file has been downloaded, whichever comes first However, on the server side I notice the files are being requested anyway. • Hook for redraw event in Blackberry

  Is there a way to add a redraw callback to a live screen object, i.e. not via inheritance? Reasoning: I want to draw an overlay from an extension for widget sdk (substituting defunct position:absolute), so the screen is created by the bbwp stub. I can get it by Ui.getUiEngine().getActiveScreen() and draw on it quite nicely, but I need a way to redraw when appropriate. Note: I've abandoned the approach to push the overlay as a screen, because i couldn't make it transparent / find a way to pass events through.

• Zip up web page groups to view in browsers

  There should be a standard for saving viewing bunches of webpages as a website. For instance, say I have a whole bunch of pages, such as I get from the WordPress plugin "Really Static" which saves an entire site, and I have all the links start with a slash. Now, I can't really use those links if I am reading it from the file system. If there would be a standard where we could zip up files, give them a unique extension (like "hzip" for html zip), and open the file with any browser, which would display it as though the root of that file were the root of the pages. "http://example.com" The links would all work right. This would facilitate sharing and copying groups of webpages.

• Jquery selectors by CSS class in IE is really slow--workarounds?

  I have a web app where I have several elements with class="classA". I want to select and apply a function to all of them. I am doing the obvious thing, which is $(".classA").each(function () { ... }). This works just fine in Chrome/Safari/Firefox but is really slow in IE. It turns out IE has serious performance issues when selecting things by CSS class in jQuery. I was wondering if anyone has suggestions on good ways to deal with this. I can't use ID selectors because there can be multiple DOM elements I want to select.

• How do you handle very old browsers on your site?

  Hi. We have a non-profit web site that got about 5 million hits in May. Of those, about 5,700 were from IE 5.x or lower; about 4,000 were from folks with Netscape 4.x or lower. We know that the current site's layout works for newer browsers and we're testing it on IE6 as well (along with Chrome, Opera, Safari, and Firefox). How do you handle the folks with the older browsers? Because of jQuery libraries and such, the pages might not function correctly on those old browsers. Is there an easy way to show a text-only version on browsers that can't handle the CSS and jQuery goodies? How do large sites handle this sort of thing? I've used the @embed to hide the stylesheet from Netscape 4.x, but not sure beyond that.

• Shorter Binding expression with validation

  Hi, I'm repeating same binding parameters for every textbox and they're quite long strings (which is not good for many reasons). And I'm wondering if there's a way to make them shorter? For instance all my controls on forms are using the following binding template: Text="{Binding SourceProperty, UpdateSourceTrigger=PropertyChanged, ValidatesOnExceptions=True, ValidatesOnDataErrors=True, NotifyOnValidationError=True}" I'd would like to have something shorter that ideally will take SourceProperty as parameter. Possbly like this: Text="{MyBinding SourceProperty}" or Text="{Binding SourceProperty, Params=MyParams}" One possible option would be to inherit from Binding and create new markup extension. Did someone tried this? Any other ideas how to make these repetetive bindings look better?

• Testing ASP.NET security in Firefox

  I'm not sure whether this question belongs on StackOverflow or SuperUser, but here goes nothing... I'm trying to test out some basic security problems on my personal ASP.NET website to see exactly how the custom validators, etc. work when tampering with the data. I've been looking at the Firefox extension TamperData which seems to do the trick, but it doesn't feel very professional at all. The issues I'm having with TamperData is that the textbox for the POST data is way too small to hold the ASP.NET view-state, so I have to copy that data into Emacs and then back again to be productive at all. I also don't like that there doesn't seem to be an option to only tamper with data which is from/to localhost. Any ideas on better extensions for the task or better methods to test it?

  I am creating an interpreter for my extension to HQ9+, which has the following extra command called V: V: Interpretes the code as Lua, Brainfuck, INTERCAL, Ruby, ShellScript, Perl, Python, PHP in that order, and if even one error has occoured, run the HQ9+-ABC code again most of them have libraries, BF and INTERCAL can be interpreted without a library, but the problem lies in ShellScript. How can I run a shellscript from my C++ application ( =the HQ9+-ABC interpreter) and when it's done, get the error code (0 = succeded, all others = failed)?
