Drop Down not even showing up in IE6

I've got a drop down menu here that just plain won't show up in IE6. The site works perfectly in every other browser. Seems daft to lose sleep over IE6, I know, but the site is for a demographic who could very well still be using it. Android: Having trouble getting html from webpage

Hi, I'm writing an android application that is supposed to get the html from a php page and use the parsed data from thepage. I've searched for this issue on here, and ended up using some code from an example another poster put up. Whenever I run this code, it prints out the first first message, but then prints out the error error message and then finally the end end message. I've tried modifying the headers, but I've had no luck with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated as I don't know what I'm doing wrong. Thanks!

Tell bots apart from human visitors for stats?

I am looking to roll my own simple web stats script. The only major obstacle on the road, as far as I can see, is telling human visitors apart from bots. I would like to have a solution for that which I don't need to maintain on a regular basis (i.e. I don't want to update text files with bot-related User-agents). Is there any open service that does that, like Akismet does for spam? Or is there a PHP project that is dedicated to recognizing spiders and bots and provides frequent updates? To clarify: I'm not looking to block bots. I do not need 100% watertight results. I just want to exclude as many as I can from my stats. In know that parsing the user-Agent is an option but maintaining the patterns to parse for is a lot of work. My question is whether there is any project or service that does that already. Bounty: I thought I'd push this as a reference question on the topic. The best / most original / most technically viable contribution will receive the bounty amount.

User switching without logging off

We need to switch users without logging off so we can remotely administrate a PC running with a limited user that will disconnect from the VPN if the user logs off. Because we block CTRL-ALT-DEL the PC effectively hangs until it is powered off. Does anyone know how to stop this from happening so we can change users without the PC hanging when they log off?

Time gaps between host clEnqueue_xxx calls

Consider these OpenCL calls (3 memcpy DtoH, 4313 cl_float elements each): clEnqueueReadBuffer(CommandQueue, SpectrumAbsMem, CL_FALSE, 0, SpectrumMemSize, SpectrumAbs, 0, NULL, NULL); clEnqueueReadBuffer(CommandQueue, SpectrumReMem, CL_FALSE, 0, SpectrumMemSize, SpectrumRe, 0, NULL, NULL); clEnqueueReadBuffer(CommandQueue, SpectrumImMem, CL_FALSE, 0, SpectrumMemSize, SpectrumIm, 0, NULL, NULL); When I analyze these with the NVIDIA visual profiler, I see that the actual memcpy operation only takes 8 us, but there is a significant gap of around 130 us after each memcpy. I'm already using the supposedly asynchronous method (the CL_FALSE in the argument list). When I use only one operation, but with three times the size, the operation is way faster. Why is the time gap between the actual memcpy operations so huge, whereas the gap between the kernel execution (exactly before these three operations) and the first memcpy is only 7us? Can I get rid of it, or do I need to accumulate more data before starting a memcpy? If so, is there a convenient way how I could combine mutliple arrays into a single contiguous block of memory, but still have a cl_mem object as a separate device memory pointer to each section?

dojo.parser.parse only working first time it's called.

I have a page that when a user clicks on a link for some reporting tools, it first asks them to enter some report parameters. I get the parameters dialog as a form using AJAX, based on the id of the link. Each dialog has some dojo controls on it, so I need to parse them when the dialog appears, because it is not originally part of the page. The first dialog when called works fine, but subsequent calls to dialogs fails to parse the dojo controls. How do I avoid killing the native controls on a html5-video when i've started it programmaticly?

OK, so the deal is I've started making a little videoplayer, that works by clicking a div with an image, expanding the div and the image, and then exchanges the image with a html5-videotag. the code is as below. Trie Backtracking in Recursion

I am building a tree for a spell checker with suggestions. Each node contains a key (a letter) and a value (array of letters down that path). So assume the following sub-trie in my big trie: W / \ a e | | k k | | is word--> e e | ... This is just a subpath of a sub-trie. W is a node and a and e are two nodes in its value array etc... At each node, I check if the next letter in the word is a value of the node. I am trying to support mistyped vowels for now. So 'weke' will yield 'wake' as a suggestion. Here's my searchWord function in my trie: def searchWord(self, word, path=""): if len(word) > 0: key = word[0] word = word[1:] if self.values.has_key(key): path = path + key nextNode = self.values[key] return nextNode.searchWord(word, path) else: # check here if key is a vowel. If it is, check for other vowel substitutes else: if self.isWord: return path # this is the word found else: return None Given 'weke', at the end when word is of length zero and path is 'weke', my code will hit the second big else block. weke is not marked as a word and so it will return with None. This will return out of searchWord with None. To avoid this, at each stack unwind or recursion backtrack, I need to check if a letter is a vowel and if it is, do the checking again. I changed the if self.values.has_key(key) loop to the following: if self.values.has_key(key): path = path + key nextNode = self.values[key] ret = nextNode.searchWord(word, path) if ret == None: # check if key == vowel and replace path # return nextNode.searchWord(... return ret What am I doing wrong here? What can I do when backtracking to achieve what I'm trying to do?

How do you hide a Swing Popup when you click somewhere else.

I have a Popup that is shown when a user clicks on a button. I would like to hide the popup when any of the following events occur: The user clicks somewhere else in the application. (The background panel for example) The user minimizes the application. The JPopupMenu has this behavior, but I need more than just JMenuItems. Java side scrolling game on android

I'm trying to make an easy side scrolling game just to learn the ropes of game programming on android. I came up with a solution of how to make it but I don't really think it is the most elegant solution. I wanted to get some different ideas on how to implement my game, as I really have no other solution right now. Here is a quick explanation of how it works.. I basically have blocks or objects fall from the top of the screen. The blocks are defined from a pre-defined string I create using a custom 'map-editor'. I create all the blocks at compile time, position them on or off the screen and simply increment their coordinates with each iteration of the gameloop. It is actually done a little bit better then that, but that gives a short easy explanation on the basic idea. I heard from a few people that instead of incrementing each block position, have the blocks stay there and simply change the viewable area. That makes sense, but I have no idea how to do it. Can anyone share some ideas or links on how I can implement something like this? I know my current solution isn't the greatest. Thanks!

kQuery : Trying to find a specific instance of a class by number

I guess I have just hit a mental block with this one; maybe some fresh eyes will help. Basically I have a few instance of the class "menu-item" which when clicked call the click function via jQuery and bring up a video. Instead of giving each on an id as well as a class I am trying to find which instance of the class was clicked (1, 2, 3, etc). Wait between tasks with SingleThreadExecutor

I am trying to (simply) make a blocking thread queue, where when a task is submitted the method waits until its finished executing. The hard part though is the wait. Is there an easier and cleaner solution out there or is this it?

Spork doesnt reload code

I am using following gems and ruby-1.9.3-p194: rails 3.2.3 rspec-rails 2.9.0 spork 1.0.0rc2 guard-spork 0.6.1 Full list of used gems is available in this Gemfile.lock or Gemfile. And I am using this configuration files: Guardfile .rspec spec_helper.rb factories.rb If I modify any model (or custom validator in app/validators etc) reloading code doesnt works. I mean when I run specs (hit Enter on guard console) Spork contain "old code" and I got obsolete error messages. But when I manually restart Guard and Spork (CTRC-C CTRL-d guard) everything works fine. But it is getting tired after few times. Questions: Can somebody look at my config files please and fix error which block updating code. Or maybe this is an issue of newest Rails version? PS This problem repeats and repeats over some projects (and on some NOT). But I haven't figured out yet why this is happens. PS2 Perhaps this problem is something to do with ActiveAdmin? When I change file in app/admin code is reloaded.

Textblock doesnt get updated when rendered in memory?

Active State Image Display

I have some images that need to change, based not only on hover, but also on active state. If you look at the page here: http://site427.mysite4now.net/tazthedog/site1/ There are some tabs with Screen Printing Quick Links, etc. The tab image is associated with the link and displays properly. The icon in tabs defaults to the gray and turns blue on mouse over, however, I also need it to be blue on the "active" state. SpringMvc java.lang.NullPointerException When Posting Form To Server

I have a form with a user name field on it when i tab out of the field i use a RESTFUL Web Service that makes a call to a handler method in the controller. The method makes a call to a DAO class that checks the database if the user name exists. This works fine, however when the form is posted to the server i call the same exact function i would call in the handler method however i get a java.lang.NullPointerException when it accesses the class that makes a call to the DAO object. So it does not even access the DAO object the second time. I have exception handlers around the calls in all my classes that makes calls. Any ideas as to whats happening here why i would get the java.lang.NullPointerException the second time the function is called.Does this have anything to do with Spring instantiating DAO classes using a Singleton method or something to that effect? What can be done to resolve this? CSS/Javascript: multiple columns

hi, I'm looking for a columnizer plugin (making columns of my small divs). It is very important it has the following features: 1) It has to be as light as possible (if it is only css would be great, but I guess it is difficult make it work on IE then...) 2) It has to be cross-browser (I don't need IE6... IE7 and IE8 compatibility is required). 3) The divs has not to be broken. In other terms, the nodes have to be moved to next block but not splitted in 2. The nodes are div elements, they might include other divs, images and text. 4) The column have to have a fixed width and fixed margin. This means that when I resize the browser, and new columns are created (become the window becomes wider), the new columns have to rigidly keep the same width and distance between them. (margin:20px) (width:200px) Would be great to have some css.. but I'm afraid I need some jQuery plugin because I need all 4 features being supported. I found several plugins and css styleshits with very good solutions, but I couldn't find a complete one. Thanks

32-bit JVM on 64-bit Windows crashes on launch with -Xmx1300m and plenty of free memory

I'm struggling with Java heap space settings. The default Java on Windows is the 32-bit client regardless of OS version (that's what Oracle recommends to all users). It appears to set max heap size to 256 MB by default, and that is too little for me. I use a custom launcher to start the application. I would like it to use more memory on computers with plenty RAM, and default to -Xmx512m on those with less RAM. As far as I'm aware, the only way is the static -Xmx setting (that has to be set on launch). I have a user who has 8 GB RAM, 64-bit Windows and 32-bit Java 7. Maximum memory visible to the JVM is 4G (as returned by querying OperatingSystemMXBean). I understand why, no issue. For some reason my application is unable to start for this user with -Xmx1300m, even though he has 2.3G free memory. He closed some applications (having 5G free memory), and still it would not launch. The error reported to me was: error occured during init of vm could not reserve enough space for object heap What's going on? Could it be that the 32-bit JVM is only able to address the "first" 4G of memory and has to have a 1300M block available within those first 4 gigabytes? How can I solve this problem, except for asking everyone to install 64-bit Java (what is unlikely to be acceptable)?

TI becomes a pointer to a struct that has a thread index and a pthread_t.
