    HI, I have a Test model, which has_many questions, and Question, which has_many answers... When I make a query for a Test with :include = [:questions, {:questions = :answers}] ActiveRecord makes two more queries to fetch the questions and then to fetch the answers - it doesn`t join them!!! When I do the query with :joins ActiveRecord makes the query, but later when I need the Test.questions or Test.questions.answers ActiveRecord makes again those 2 extra queries!!! And later when I enumerate the questions or answers in the log I see other queries for each object, but it has Cache tag... Is this normal?

  • Building a python module and linking it against a MacOSX framework

    I'm trying to build a Python extension on MacOSX 10.6 and to link it against several frameworks (i386 only). I made a setup.py file, using distutils and the Extension object. I order to link against my frameworks, my LDFLAGS env var should look like : LDFLAGS = -lc -arch i386 -framework fwk1 -framework fwk2 As I did not find any 'framework' keyword in the Extension module documentation, I used the extra_link_args keyword instead. Extension('test', define_macros = [('MAJOR_VERSION', '1'), ,('MINOR_VERSION', '0')], include_dirs = ['/usr/local/include', 'include/', 'include/vitale'], extra_link_args = ['-arch i386', '-framework fwk1', '-framework fwk2'], sources = "testmodule.cpp", language = 'c++' ) Everything is compiling and linking fine. If I remove the -framework line from the extra_link_args, my linker fails, as expected. Here is the last two lines produced by a python setup.py build : /usr/bin/g++-4.2 -arch x86_64 -arch i386 -isysroot / -L/opt/local/lib -arch x86_64 -arch i386 -bundle -undefined dynamic_lookup build/temp.macosx-10.6-intel-2.6/testmodule.o -o build/lib.macosx-10.6-intel-2.6/test.so -arch i386 -framework sgdosx -framework srtosx -framework ssvosx -framework stsosx Unfortunately, the .so that I just produced is unable to find several symbols provided by this framework. I tried to check the linked framework with otool. None of them is appearing. $ otool -L test.so test.so: /usr/lib/libstdc++.6.dylib (compatibility version 7.0.0, current version 7.9.0) /usr/lib/libSystem.B.dylib (compatibility version 1.0.0, current version 125.0.1) There is the output of otool run on a test binary, made with g++ and ldd using the LDFLAGS described at the top of my post.     just upgraded from Ubuntu 13.04 to Ubuntu 13.10, my Laptop is a Sony SVE1512c6ew, scrolling worked perfectly in Ubuntu 13.04, doesnt work at all in 13.10 Runs Ubuntu 13.10 64bits (btw, tested it i Windows 8 environment works there)Hardware OK, have seen a number of other users with the same problem, well for starters have followed the tip on using the dconf editor, following the path: org gnome settings-daemon peripherals touchpad boxed in all for sure... still cant get vertical scroll...... Any ideas???     I'm having trouble with the MyClass::function(); style of calling methods and can't figure out why. Here's an example (I'm using Kohana framework btw): class Test_Core { public $var1 = "lots of testing"; public function output() { $print_out = $this->var1; echo $print_out; } } I try to use the following to call it, but it returns $var1 as undefined: Test::output() However, this works fine: $test = new Test(); $test->output(); I generally use this style of calling objects as opposed to the "new Class" style, but I can't figure out why it doesn't want to work.

    I have a Sony laptop and I want to turn keyboard back-light off. It doesn't have a shortcut function key for doing this on the keyboard . I can turn off it with VAIO Control Center in Windows but I don't know how can I turn it off in Ubuntu 14.04. There isn't available to me: /sys/devices/platform/sony-laptop/kbd_backlight doesn't exist on my machine.   • Reference-type conversion operators: asking for trouble?

    When I compile the following code using g++ class A {}; void foo(A&) {} int main() { foo(A()); return 0; } I get the following error messages: > g++ test.cpp -o test test.cpp: In function ‘int main()’: test.cpp:10: error: invalid initialization of non-const reference of type ‘A&’ from a temporary of type ‘A’ test.cpp:6: error: in passing argument 1 of ‘void foo(A&)’ After some reflection, these errors make plenty of sense to me. A() is just a temporary value, not an assignable location on the stack, so it wouldn't seem to have an address. If it doesn't have an address, then I can't hold a reference to it. Okay, fine. But wait! If I add the following conversion operator to the class A class A { public: operator A&() { return *this; } }; then all is well! My question is whether this even remotely safe. What exactly does this point to when A() is constructed as a temporary value? I am given some confidence by the fact that void foo(const A&) {} can accept temporary values according to g++ and all other compilers I've used. The const keyword can always be cast away, so it would surprise me if there were any actual semantic differences between a const A& parameter and an A& parameter. So I guess that's another way of asking my question: why is a const reference to a temporary value considered safe by the compiler whereas a non-const reference is not?

  • Why is ContextConfiguration location different in idea and eclipse

    Hello experts. In my team we work both in Eclipse and Idea. That works pretty good, except for one minor issue that I can't figure out how to solve. When setting the ContextConfiguration location in our tests and running them inside Eclipse everything works like a charm: @Test(groups = { "database" }) @ContextConfiguration(locations = {" file:src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml" }) But in my Idea env I get "could not find applicationContext" error. I need to set the location like this(project name is services): @Test(groups = { "database" }) @ContextConfiguration(locations = {" file:services/src/main/webapp/WEB-INF/applicationContext.xml" }) The project structure is like this: parent.pom with two child poms: services.pom and other.pom. When running the test in the terminal from the service project like this: mvn -Dtest=com.mytest.service.somepackage.TheTest test there are no issues. I guess that since my project structure is parent-with-two-children the need of /service is necessary(The project is created by pointing out the parent pom). Is there a way to fix this? Could you please help me with a solution. thx

    Last year (2009), the Google Code Jam featured an interesting problem as the first problem in Round 1B: Decision Tree As the problem seemed tailored for Lisp-like languages, we spontaneously had an exciting codegolf here on SO, in which a few languages managed to solve the problem in fewer characters than any Lisp variety, using quite a number of different techniques. This year's Round 1B Problem A (File Fix-it) also seems tailored for a particular family of languages, Unix shell scripts. So continuing the "1B-A tradition" would be appropriate. :p But which language will end up with the shortest code? Let us codegolf and see! Problem description (adapted from official page): You are given T test cases. Each test case contains N lines that list the full path of all directories currently existing on your computer. For example: /home/awesome /home/awesome/wheeeeeee /home/awesome/wheeeeeee/codegolfrocks /home/thecakeisalie Next, you are given M lines that list the full path of directories you would like to create. They are in the same format as the previous examples. You can create a directory using the mkdir command, but you can only do so if the parent directory already exists. For example, to create the directories /pyonpyon/fumufumu/yeahyeah and /pyonpyon/fumufumu/yeahyeahyeah, you would need to use mkdir four times: mkdir /pyonpyon mkdir /pyonpyon/fumufumu mkdir /pyonpyon/fumufumu/yeahyeah mkdir /pyonpyon/fumufumu/yeahyeahyeah For each test case, return the number of times you have to call mkdir to create all the directories you would like to create. Input Input consists of a text file whose first line contains the integer T, the number of test cases. The rest of the file contains the test cases. Each test case begins with a line containing the integers N and M, separated by a space. The next N lines contain the path of each directory currently existing on your computer (not including the root directory /). This is a concatenation of one or more non-empty lowercase alphanumeric strings, each preceded by a single /. The following M lines contain the path of each directory you would like to create.   • Recently "exposed" to Clicksor

    Previous information concerning my issue can be found here: Virus...? Tons of people talking. Not sure where else to ask. I heard the loud sounds and whatnot from one of the ads but nothing was harmed and other than having the life scared out of me nothing was immediately affected. Literally nothing has changed. I really don't know what to do. My PC seems fine and from what Malwarebytes and Spybot tells me none of my files have been infected with anything.   • Cant get lm-sensors to load ATI Radeon temp and fan or output all settings

    New to Linux and having minor issues :/ . I followed this guide initially but did not recieve the proper output and did not show my ATI Radeon HD 5000 temp or fan speed. Then used this guide, same problems exhibited. No issues installing and no errors. I think its not reading i2c for some reason. The proprietary driver is installed and functioning correctly according fglrxinfo. I can use aticonfig commands and view both temp and fan. Any ideas on how to get the ATI Radeon sensors working under 'sensors'?   • Some Flash moving portions displayed incorrectly in Firefox 5

    I am using 11.04 Natty and Firefox 5. Video card is ATI Radeon HD 4670 and I am using the newest proprietary driver downloaded from ATI website. Some Flash apps, such as embedded youtube vids and a couple of other apps, are displayed incorrectly (i think with real embed instead of the new iframe embed). What happens is as a portion of the flash moves around, parts of it keeps blanking out. For the embedded youtube vid, it greys out. Some other apps turns transparent, showing the webpage's background. The same flash apps runs perfectly fine for Google Chromium on the same computer. I have another computer with 10.10 Maverick, Firefox 5 and nVidia card and driver, and it they also run fine. So, anyone has an idea of what is causing the problem?

  • How to manage two video cards on a laptop that runs Ubuntu 10.10?

    I have a laptop with two video cards. One ATI and on integrated Intel. On Windows, I can choose which video card I want to use. For example, I use the Intel card for normal use and for gaming, I switch to my ATI card for better performance, but a shorter battery life. In Ubuntu 10.10, only the Intel driver is installed, the ATI driver for my card doesn't work at all and there's heat coming out of my computer all the time, like when I'm playing video games on Windows. I think both cards are active, but only the Intel one is usefull. How can I solve this by making sure Ubuntu is aware of the two video cards and by disabling my ATI. Or may be I am all wrong about this?

  • Not able to connect huawei ec1561

    I have a huawei ec1561 broadband data card, ISP-MTS India. I am not able to connect internet through it. while connecting it via network manager it says "You are registered with home network" and again "Modem network disconnected" . i think it is detected as a modem but not connecting properly. Any help please? I'm hitting this rock with my head more than a month... when I tried installing the driver that came with the device it finally says "Installing NDIS driver failed".   • Printing multiple pages per sheet doesn't work

    In Ubuntu 12.04, I added a network printer which I had previously used without any problems on a different machine (with the same release of Ubuntu). Now, with the default generic driver installed, printing multiple pages per sheet from evince doesn't work properly. If I select 2 per sheet, be it long or short edge, it always prints 4. Why is this? It used to happen with non-pdf documents in the past, like from a browser. My workaround was to print to pdf file and then print the pdf itself. Now I'm clueless... Edit: the same happens with a different network printer, in which I installed the driver specific to its particular model.
