  • Setting my NIC to full duplex

    I am trying to optimize the network speed of my Solaris X86 server, and have discovered that the Cisco 3548 that it is connected to has issues with the NIC in my server. The NIC appears to have not been configured fully, and is coming up 100 half-duplex. The 3548 ports are all set to 100 full. Ideally I'd like to have the server set for 100 full, and have been attempting to configure it using ndd commands. However I have had no results. The following command: -bash-3.00# dladm show-dev rtls0 link: unknown speed: 100 Mbps duplex: unknown The NIC shows up as: pci bus 0x0001 cardnum 0x06 function 0x00: vendor 0x10ec device 0x8139 Realtek Semiconductor Co., Ltd. RTL-8139/8139C/8139C+ which should be configurable. I have modified the configuration file from auto config (5) to 100 fdx (4) to no avail. If there is no other choice, I could alter the Cisco 3548 to be 100 half-duplex. However, this solution causes huge performance loss. Currently throughput is about 500Kbps, when it should be around 40Mbps.

  • How do you find the disk size of a Postgres table and its indexes

    I'm coming to Postgres from Oracle and looking for a way to find the table and index size in terms of bytes/MB/GB/etc, or even better the size for all tables. In Oracle I had a nasty long query that looked at user_lobs and user_segments to give back an answer. I assume in Postgres there's something I can use in the information_schema tables, but I'm not seeing where. Thanks in advance.

Majority query on this table - searching documents similar to current document: select 10 documents with maximum of (count common to current document value)/(count ov values in document). Nowadays we use PostgreSQL. Table weight (with index) ~1,5 GB. Average query time ~0.5s. Should I transfer all this to NoSQL base, if so, what?

    I can't find XamlPad anywhere after I installed .NET 4.0 / Visual Studio 2010 and Windows 7 SDK - v7.1. I tried searching C:\Program Files\Microsoft SDKs\Windows\v7.1\bin and did a dir /s xamlpad.exe to see if the Windows Index service didn't get to that folder yet. And it's not under Start Menu - All Programs - Windows SDK v7.1 -- Tools. Where has it gone? Did MS deprecate it? Thanks

    I'm trying to figure how a function I've been given works -- or rather doesn't work. The problematic areas include array notation like this: $small[$end[$i]{0}] I think the idea is to append "0" to the value of $end[$i] and use that for the index of $small. But it doesn't work in PHP5.3. Is this a deprecated syntax and is it trying to do what I think it is?

Does anyone know where exactly does drawPosText consider the "origin" to be, since you are specifying "origin" as coordinate pairs; i.e., is it bottom-left of character, center, what? Also how does drawPosText calculate character height when it draws?

  • Using PHP's IMAP library triggers Kaspersky's Antivirus

    Hello, I just started today working with PHP's IMAP library, and while imap_fetchbody or imap_body are called, it is triggering my Kaspersky antivirus. The viruses are Trojan.Win32.Agent.dmyq and Trojan.Win32.FraudPack.aoda. I am running this off a local development machine with XAMPP and Kaspersky AV. Now, I am sure there are viruses there since there is spam in the box (who doesn't need a some viagra or vicodin these days?). And I know that since the raw body includes attachments and different mime-types, bad stuff can be in the body. So my question is: are there any risks using these libraries? I am assuming that the IMAP functions are retrieving the body, caching it to disk/memory and the AV scanning it sees the data. Is that correct? Are there any known security concerns using this library (I couldn't find any)? Does it clean up cached message parts perfectly or might viral files be sitting somewhere? Is there a better way to get plain text out of the body than this?     I am using maven to generate a website for a Java project, which uses APT "Almost Plain Text" as a wiki like markup. Maven takes this and turns it into XHTML. I already have a custom template/skin that I am using for the site, but the index page will have a couple of extra custom design elements that are beyond the capabilities of APT. So how can you add xhtml to the apt file so that it gets correctly embedded in the final output? Thanks.

  • Primary Key Names in Fluent Nhibernate

    Is there a way in fluent nhibernate (or possibly NHibernate in general) to tell it to generate the primary keys differently? It creates the column name for the key fine, but the index/constraint gets weird generated names like: PK_Address_3214EC2725332734 PK_CreditCa_3214EC2756CA82C8 etc... I can use straight sql to rename them but i'd rather not. thanks, all
