Initially I used loops, Felling inefficient I switched to regExp, but dint got efficient solution.   I'm using jQuery File Upload library (http://github.com/blueimp/jQuery-File-Upload), and I've been stuck figuring out how to use the library satisfying the following conditions. The page has multiple file input fields surrounded by a form tag. Users can attach multiple files to each input field All files are sent to a server when the button is clicked, not when files are attached to the input fields. • Handling Denormalized Schema with Eclipselink

  Hello All I have a denormalized table containing employee information. The fields are employee id, name and department name. The primary key is a composite one consisting of all three fields. An employee can belong to multiple departments. I want to read/write the objects in the table using the Eclipselink Dynamic Persistence API (which is infact a wrapper on top of JPA descriptors etc.). Example Data: 1 e1 dep1 2 e1 dep2 3 e2 dep1 4 e2 dep3 5 e3 dep1 5 e3 dep2 5 e3 dep3 A normal ReadAllQuery (select query) on the table returns a DynamicEntity corresponding to each row in the table. However I want to club all entities based on the emp id and return all the departments he belongs to as a list. I can merge the entities after retrieving them but if I can use some Eclipselink feature out of the box then it would be better. One way to do the read is the following: I create two dynamic types corresponding to employee: Having id,name as the primary key Having id, department as the primary key, I create a OneToManyMapping from the first type to the second one. Then when I query the first type it does return the departments to which employee belongs as a list of DynamicEntity of the second type. This satisfies the read scenario. Is there a better way of doing this? Is this inherently supported by Eclipselink or JPA? I cannot get the same dynamic type configuration working for the write scenario. This is because when I write the changes using the writeObject method of UnitOfWork, it generates insert queries which enter the following entries in the table id name department 102 emp_102 102 st 102 dep_102 102 dep_102 102 dep_102 instead of: id name department 102 emp_102 st 102 emp_102 dep_102 102 emp_102 dep_102 102 emp_102 dep_102 Is there any way I can get write to work with this schema using eclipselink? I want to avoid doing the heavy lifting of merging the rows for such a denormalized schema or generating each row before doing a write. Is there no clean way of doing this using Eclipselink or JPA?   I'm playing around with this tutorial that uses Sinatra, backbone.js, and mongodb for the database. It's my first time using mongo. As far as I understand it the app uses both local storage and a database. it has these routes for the database. Journeys are defined as a sequence of rows per id up until to end_yn == 1, also if end_ynnever becomes 1, the journey should also be numbered (see the expected outcome example). It is only possible to have end_yn == 0 journeys at the end of a collection of rows for an ID (as shown at row 4 for id 3). So either no end_yn == 1 has occured for that ID or that happened before the end_yn == 0-journey (see id == abc in the example). I know how to number using the data.table package, but I do not know which columns to combine in order to get the expected outcome. I've searched the data.table-tag on SO, but could not find a similar problem. • Efficient mapping of game entity positions in Java

  In Java (Swing), say I've got a 2D game where I have various types of entities on the screen, such as a player, bad guys, powerups, etc. When the player moves across the screen, in order to do efficient checking of what is in the immediate vicinity of the player, I would think I'd want indexed access to the things that are near the character based on their position. For example, if player 'P' steps onto element 'E' in the following example... | | | | | | | | | |P| | | | |E| | | | | | | | | ... would be to do something like: if(player.getPosition().x == entity.getPosition().x && entity.getPosition.y == thing.getPosition().y) { //do something } And thats fine, but that implies that the entities hold their positions, and therefor if I had MANY entities on the screen I would have to loop through all possible entities available and check each ones position against the player position. This seems really inefficient especially if you start getting tons of entities. So, I would suspect I'd want some sort of map like Map<Point, Entity> map = new HashMap<Point, Entity>(); And store my point information there, so that I could access these entities in constant time. The only problem with that approach is that, if I want to move an entity to a different point on the screen, I'd have to search through the values of the HashMap for the entity I want to move (inefficient since I dont know its Point position ahead of time), and then once I've found it remove it from the HashMap, and re-insert it with the new position information. Any suggestions or advice on what sort of data structure / storage format I ought to be using here in order to have efficient access to Entities based on their position, as well as Position's based on the Entity?

• Sorted queue with dropping out elements

  I have a list of jobs and queue of workers waiting for these jobs. All the jobs are the same, but workers are different and sorted by their ability to perform the job. That is, first person can do this job best of all, second does it just a little bit worse and so on. Job is always assigned to the person with the highest skills from those who are free at that moment. When person is assigned a job, he drops out of the queue for some time. But when he is done, he gets back to his position. So, for example, at some moment in time worker queue looks like: [x, x, .83, x, .7, .63, .55, .54, .48, ...] where x's stand for missing workers and numbers show skill level of left workers. When there's a new job, it is assigned to 3rd worker as the one with highest skill of available workers. So next moment queue looks like: [x, x, x, x, .7, .63, .55, .54, .48, ...] Let's say, that at this moment worker #2 finishes his job and gets back to the list: [x, .91, x, x, .7, .63, .55, .54, .48, ...] I hope the process is completely clear now. My question is what algorithm and data structure to use to implement quick search and deletion of worker and insertion back to his position. For the moment the best approach I can see is to use Fibonacci heap that have amortized O(log n) for deleting minimal element (assigning job and deleting worker from queue) and O(1) for inserting him back, which is pretty good. But is there even better algorithm / data structure that possibly take into account the fact that elements are already sorted and only drop of the queue from time to time?

• [javascript] Populating jsTree based on XML data uploaded to server folder

  tl:dr How can I populate jsTree based on a folder location instead of an exact XML url? I'm looking for a little direction on this project. Currently I am trying to copy file structures of hard drives as XML files and recreate them using jsTree on the webserver for a completely independent version of the file structure. I have some python script that outputs XML files that are formed to jsTree and automatically uploads to a folder on the server. The problem is now I am a little lost because I have to manually enter each XML file into jsTree code for it to display so I have multiple entries like this: $("#tree1") .jstree({ "plugins" : [ "themes", "xml_data", "ui", "search", "types" ], "xml_data" : { "ajax" : { "url" : "./XML_DATA/DRIVE1.xml" }, "xsl" : "nest" }, I see in the documentation that instead of populated by the direct file the folders are populated by "server.php" but no where in the php code does it point to any directories or files. After considering the problem I thought of a few solutions and could use some advice on them: Should I be trying to write php code to automatically look through my XML_DATA folder to upload each XML file? Should I just upload all the XML to mySQL and populate my tree based on that? Should the javascript be the code looking through the server's folder for XML files? All the XML is formed the same way but the number of XML files on the server will increase and will have to be refreshed as well as they will be overwritten with changes. Any direction would be appreciated, thanks.

• Including Data From DropDownList Into Gridview

  I feel a little embarassed posting two questions relating to the same problem, but the first one ended up answering a question that I believe is unrelated to the solution so I'm leaving it up and outlining what I'm trying to accomplish with the hopes that someone can help out a .Net noob. What I need to be able to do is create a field in my gridview that contains a link that passes two variables. One is pulled from within the gridviews datasource and the other needs to be pulled from a textbox control outside the gridview. From what I've read so far you cannot use a hyperlinkfield for this as the datanavigateurlfields cannot be set to pull from anything but the gridview's data source. What I attempted to do was create a template field where in the itemtemplate I called: <a href="example.aspx?e=<%# Eval(ExampleList.SelectedItem.Value) %>">Test</a> That comes back with an error like this: DataBinding: 'System.Data.DataRowView' does not contain a property with the value 'TestData' Any clues to make this happen would be appreciated, like I said I'm pretty new to .Net so please be gentle. I tried to do my homework before posting this.

• Why should I abstract my data layer?

  OOP principles were difficult for me to grasp because for some reason I could never apply them to web development. As I developed more and more projects I started understanding how some parts of my code could use certain design patterns to make them easier to read, reuse, and maintain so I started to use it more and more. The one thing I still can't quite comprehend is why I should abstract my data layer. Basically if I need to print a list of items stored in my DB to the browser I do something along the lines of: $sql = 'SELECT * FROM table WHERE type = "type1"';' $result = mysql_query($sql); while($row = mysql_fetch_assoc($result)) { echo '<li>'.$row['name'].'</li>'; } I'm reading all these How-Tos or articles preaching about the greatness of PDO but I don't understand why. I don't seem to be saving any LoCs and I don't see how it would be more reusable because all the functions that I call above just seem to be encapsulated in a class but do the exact same thing. The only advantage I'm seeing to PDO are prepared statements. I'm not saying data abstraction is a bad thing, I'm asking these questions because I'm trying to design my current classes correctly and they need to connect to a DB so I figured I'd do this the right way. Maybe I'm just reading bad articles on the subject :) I would really appreciate any advice, links, or concrete real-life examples on the subject!

• NSFetchedResultsController sort different sections differently (ascending/descending)?

  In my app, I have a task list (no, it's not just another todo app), and I display the tasks in a UITableView using an NSFetchedResultsController. Here is the relevant initialisation code: NSSortDescriptor *dueDateSortDescriptor = [NSSortDescriptor sortDescriptorWithKey:@"due" YES]; NSSortDescriptor *completionSortDescriptor = [NSSortDescriptor sortDescriptorWithKey:@"completed" ascending:YES]; [fetchRequest setSortDescriptors:[NSArray arrayWithObjects:completionSortDescriptor, dueDateSortDescriptor, nil]]; _fetchedResultsController = [[NSFetchedResultsController alloc] initWithFetchRequest:fetchRequest managedObjectContext:context sectionNameKeyPath:@"completed" cacheName:nil]; What this does is sorts the tasks such that I have an incomplete tasks section at the top, sorting with the tasks due first on top, and tasks due later further down. This all works. However, this means that the second section, the one with the completed tasks, also sorts this way, so the earliest due tasks are on top. What I want to do is change it so the second section sorts the other way around (in descending order), but the first section stays sorted in ascending order. Is this even possible? How would I go about this? Why I want to do this: The way it currently works, the tasks at the top of the second section (and therefore the most visible) are the ones that were completed ages ago. It is more likely that the user would want to see the tasks that are more recently completed (and uncheck one if it was accidentally checked), and presumably the tasks with a more recent due date were more recently completed. I am happy to add a separate completion date field to the Core Data task object if necessary (This isn't a shipping application yet, so I can change the data format however I like).

  I'm trying to create a method which inserts and then sort elements in form of binary form. The problem I am experiencing that my code doesn't insert data correctly which means that output does not appear to be in order at all. The list is not organized, and data is added in order that is being inserted. Now, 2 questions, what am I doing wrong here? • Approach for parsing file and creating dynamic data structure for use by another program

  All, Background: I have a customer who has some build scripts for their datacenter based on python that I've inherited. I did not work on the original design so I'm sort of limited to some degree on what I can and can't change. That said, my customer has a properties file that they use in their datacenter. Some of the values are used to build their servers and unfortunately they have other applications that also use these values so I cannot change them to make it easier for me. What I want to do is make the scripts more dynamic to distribute more hosts so that I don't have to keep updating the scripts in the future and can just add more hosts to the property file. Unfortunately I can't change the current property file and have to work with it. The property file looks something like this: projectName.ClusterNameServer1.sslport=443 projectName.ClusterNameServer1.port=80 projectName.ClusterNameServer1.host=myHostA projectName.ClusterNameServer2.sslport=443 projectName.ClusterNameServer2.port=80 projectName.ClusterNameServer2.host=myHostB In their deployment scripts they basically have alot of if projectName.ClusterNameServerX where X is some number of entries defined and then do something, e.g.: if projectName.ClusterNameServer1.host != "" do X if projectName.ClusterNameServer2.host != "" do X if projectName.ClusterNameServer3.host != "" do X Then when they add another host (say Serve4) they've added another if statement. Question: What I would like to do is make the scripts more dynamic and parse the properties file and put what I need into some data structure to pass to the deployment scripts and then just iterate over the structure and do my deployment that way so I don't have to constantly add a bunch of if some host# do something. I'm just curious to feed some suggestions as to what others would do to parse the file and what sort of data structure would they use and how they would group things together by ClusterNameServer# or something else. • How to throw meaningful data in exceptions ?

  I would like to throw exceptions with meaningful explanation ! I thought of using variable arguments worked fine but lately I figured out it's impossible to extend the class in order to implement other exception types. So I figured out using an std::ostreamstring as a an internal buffer to deal with formatting ... but doesn't compile! I guess it has something to deal with copy constructors. Anyhow here is my piece of code: class Exception: public std::exception { public: Exception(const char *fmt, ...); Exception(const char *fname, const char *funcname, int line, const char *fmt, ...); //std::ostringstream &Get() { return os_ ; } ~Exception() throw(); virtual const char *what() const throw(); protected: char err_msg_[ERRBUFSIZ]; //std::ostringstream os_; }; The variable argumens constructor can't be inherited from! this is why I thought of std::ostringstream! Any advice on how to implement such approach ?

• Writing data into New NFC Tag not works?

  I am Newbie to NFC Android App Development. I am done with the App development and everything worked fine. As part of my testing I used MifareClassic as well MifareDesfire tags to write and read. I am storing data in Ndef format. Initially I used the above testing tags with other apps like Nxp tagwriter and Tagstand Tagwriter and then I used with My app. So everything worked fine. Even later I used my app to write and read data from Sony Felica tags(new tags) which also worked fine. So I passed app to client for review but I came to know that app is not writing on New Tags. If they are reset from other apps then It works fine. So I done the same test here and found the same issue as client reported. What might be the issue? Has someone come across same kind of issue? Is it required to format before using? if so how to do that? Someone Help to solve the issue. Thanks in Advance.

• Efficient way to get highly correlated pairs from large data set in Python or R

  I have a large data set (Let's say 10,000 variables with about 1000 elements each), we can think of it as 2D list, something like: [[variable_1], [variable_2], ............ [variable_n] ] I want to extract highly correlated variable pairs from that data. I want "highly correlated" to be a parameter that I can choose. I don't need all pairs to be extracted, and I don't necessarily want the most correlated pairs. As long as there is an efficient method that gets me highly correlated pairs I am happy. Also, it would be nice if a variable does not show up in more than one pair. Although this might not be crucial. Of course, there is a brute force way to finding such pairs, but it is too slow for me. I've googled around for a bit and found some theoretical work on this issue, but I wasn't able for find a package that could do what I am looking for. I mostly work in python, so a package in python would be most helpful, but if there exists a package in R that does what I am looking for it will be great. Does anyone know of a package that does the above in Python or R? Or any other ideas? Thank You in Advance

• Fluent NHibernate no data being returned

  Hello, I have been successfully using NHibernate, but now I am trying to move to Fluent NHibernate. I have created all of my mapping files and set up my session manager to use a Fluent Configuration. I then run my application and it runs successfully, but no data is returned. There are no errors or any indication that there is a problem, but nothing runs. when using NHibernate, if I don't set my hbm xml files as an embedded resource, this same thing happens. This makes me wonder what I have to set my Map classes to. Right now, they are just set to Compile, and they are compiled into the dll, which I can see by disassembling it. Does anyone have any thoughts as to what may be happening here?
