  Possible Duplicate: How to get the Nth digit of an integer with bit-wise operations? I spent more than one day trying to solve this problem but I couldn't find a solution. I have a function named get_nth_digit(int x, int pos);. int x is a number given by the user, int pos is the number that represents the position of the digit in the number x the user wants to get. How can I do this? Can anyone help?

• Handling a button click in MVC, why is there a string parameter?

  I'm following this awful textbook, going through the basics of create/edit/delete records. The delete bit has a confirm button, and it is handled like so: [AcceptVerbs(HttpVerbs.Post)] public ActionResult Delete(int id, string confirmButton) { It offers no explanation of why the button is passed as a string or how MVC interprets it. Can anyone help clarify what's going on here? The Create code has no such string being passed.

• Search tool that uses a grammar rather than regular expression?

  Are there any search tools that allow you to set up a simple token/grammar parsing system that work similar to regular expressions? What we want to do is search our ColdFusion code for queries that do not have cfqueryparams in them. A regular expression gets a bit tough in this situation because I can't keep track of the start tags while looking for something else before getting an end tag. It seems like a parsing system would work more accurately.

I'm developing a website that will be targeted at a somewhat less geeky audience (but not quite Mom and Pops either) so I have to wonder if OpenID is going to be "too hard" for some audiences. • How to resize an image smoothly (with resampling) using Windows API calls?

  I need to resize images and resample them so they don't end up all jagged (I think that's called aliasing). I found some code (sorry, lost the link) that does this in pure VB6 code but it's a bit slow (2-5 seconds) and I'm displaying pictures in real time so I need something faster. I seem to recall seeing some examples of doing this with the GDI+ library. An example in VB6 would be ideal, but I can probably work with a simple example with Windows API calls in another language.

  hi, I have the following code inside the .h file and I'm not sure what does the assignment statement do and how is it called properly? virtual void yield() = 0; I thought that the function returns a value of 0 by default but since this function returns void I am a little bit confused.   Situation: I have this log4j logger: private static final Logger logger = Logger.getLogger(ThisClassName.class); And am trying to set it programatically through: Logger.getLogger(ThisClassName.class).setLevel(Level.DEBUG); Still, DEBUG level prints are swalloed (while INFO prints are printed successfully). Even this bit has no effect: Logger.getRootLogger().setLevel(Level.DEBUG); Calling logger.debug("foo") reaches Category.forcedLog() and ConsoleAppender.doAppend(), and then fails (quits) at: if(!isAsSevereAsThreshold(event.getLevel())) Any idea why this is happening?

• Java slick command line app?

  Hello Guys, I want to make a slick java commandline app which doesnt include all the nasty "java -jar some.jar arguments" instead, I would have it work just like program -option argument like any other commandline app. I use ubuntu linux, and it would be fine if it included a bit of .sh script or anything. I know I can just create a file with java -jar program.jar and do chmod +x file, afterwards I could run i with ./file, but then how can I pass the arguments to the program ?

  I'm bit confused. I've been building my sites with my own session system, but i'm not sure how secure the php's own session system is. My session system usually just has user id and quite harsh hash, which does not include user name or password for generation. I save the hash in the user database and as a cookie to confirm the user session on every page load. So my question is should i keep using my own systems or try out php sessions?
