• How do I get python to load .NET .dlls referenced by mixed mode .dlls?

  I have a python .pyd that is a mixed mode C++ DLL. The DLL loads fine and loads unmanaged C++ dlls without a problem, but when it tries to load the .NET dlls referenced by the managed C++ dlls it fails with this error message: Unhandled Exception: System.IO.FileNotFoundException: Could not load file or assembly '...' Copying these .NET dlls to the directory that pythod_d.exe is contained in allows the .NET libraries to load successfully, but this is not a good long term solution. Is there an environment variable I have to set or some command line option to python_d.exe that will solve my problem? Note that using IronPython or Python .NET is NOT acceptable.

  Hi guys, I need to make an authentication script in php. I have already made a login.php page, where the user can enter his unsername/password and it gets checked against a database. If the unsername/password are correct, the user should be forwarded to members.php page together with a $_SERVER['username'] variable. What is the command in PHP to go to another webpage, in this case members.php ? in pseudocode I see it like this: if ( unsername/password are OK ) { $_SERVER['username'] = $username; goto(members.php); } Thanks!

• Trying to right click on code in VS2008 causes lockup.

  Working on a Win32 DLL using Visual Studio 2008 SP1 and, since yesterday, whenever I try to right click on code, to go to a variable definition for example, VS completely locks up and I have to manually kill the process. To make it even weirder, whenever this happens the devenv.exe process uses exactly 25% of the CPU. And I mean exactly, never 24%, never 26%, always 25% Also, I've run ProcMon to see if devenv is actually doing something, but it's doing absolutely nothing external of the process. No disk, network, registry access. Nothing. This is getting really aggravating because I have a large code base to deal with and the only other way of jumping to the definition is to first search for it. Has anyone run into a similar issue? And, better yet, know a fix?

• Copy and Store LPTSTR in class causes crash

  I am attempting to copy a LPTSTR and store that string as a member variable in an object. But my attempts to copy the LPTSTR seem to fail and when I go to access/print the value of the copied LPTSTR I get a program crash.   If I want to know if an object has a particular property I can code this: if (SomeObject.hasOwnProperty('xyz')) { // some code } But some styles masquerade as properties at design time such as Button.color... How can I know what style properties are valid at runtime? ie: What is the equivalent of hasOwnProperty for getStyle/setStyle? In other words how can I know if an object HAS A particular style variable... When I write: MyButton.setStyle('qsfgaeWT','-33'); It won't accomplish anything, but it also doesn't error. How can I know programmatically that 'qsfgaeWT' is NOT a valid style of 'Button'??

• How to tell when my batch of EAP calls are completed?

  This is following my question: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2607038/c-how-to-consume-web-service-adheres-to-the-event-based-asynchronous-pattern My program is calling the DoStuffAsync() x many times in a batch, hence the callback will get invoked the same number of times upon OnComplete(). Is there a way to find out when my batch is finished such that I can generate a report on the success/failed results? All I can think of is to have a static count variable for x and deduct 1 every time OnComplete() is called, but its kind of silly and error prone I'm afraid. TIA.

• JS 2 minute countdown then execute a function?

  I'm not that great at Javascript, for the record! I DO know how to use ajax. I just need a bit of help. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to display a 5 minute countdown, and once the countdown hits zero, to run a function. I need to pass a variable to the function that needs to run. I tried SetInterval but this isn't exactly my strong suit. Does anyone have any suggestions? I can post the code I've got, but I would equate it to a gorilla fumbling in the dark at a typewriter!

• Running rspec against multiple targets

  I've written an rspec test using Watir against a web application and it's running fine. However, I now want to be able to run this test against the web application running on different domain names. My initial thought was that I'd be able to pass a value to spec at the command line to set a variable within my script, but I can't see any easy method of doing this. So my second thought was that I might need to add an array of domains into my script and have it test all of them - but I don't always want to test every domain, and the domains are constantly changing as we add and remove sites to be tested. What are my options for allowing the choice of targets I want?

  I'm learning basics of C and writing a simple first order equation solver. I want the input to be exactly ax+b=c or ax-b=c, where a, b, c are double type. I'm employing scanf() to read in user input and to check if it's of the correct form. However, if I enter a negative double, -4.6 say, as the "a" in the equation, scanf() won't read the a,b,c correctly. I'm using %lf inside scanf(). How do I read a negative double, then? Many thanks. My code: if (scanf("%lfx+%lf=%lf", &a, &b, &c)) more code If I use as the input "-6.2x+3.4=-5.9", the value 3.4 will be assinged to variable a, while b and c remain as they were and "more code" is run.

• Unable to locate the Bug

  I was recently on The Daily WTF when I came across this old post. In it the author mentions that one of the programmers changed this code: int main (int argc, char **argv) { int x; char data_string[15]; ... x = 2; strcpy(data_string,"data data data"); ... } To this code: int main (int argc, char **argv) { int x = 2; char data_string[15] = "data data data"; ... } The author goes on to mention: [the coder] changed every single variable to be initiated on the stack For the life of me I cannot see how this change could be harmful, and I am worried that it is a lapse in my C knowledge. What is the WTF?

  I am doing a hierarchical clustering a 2 dimensional matrix by correlation distance metric (i.e. 1 - Pearson correlation). My code is the following (the data is in a variable called "data"): from hcluster import * Y = pdist(data, 'correlation') cluster_type = 'average' Z = linkage(Y, cluster_type) dendrogram(Z) The error I get is: ValueError: Linkage 'Z' contains negative distances. What causes this error? • With Maven, how would I prevent Maven from filtering certain properties but allowing others?

  The problem is that I'm trying to build a project that has in its resources a build.xml file. Basically, I package my project as a jar with Maven2, and then use ant installer to install my project. There is a property in the build.xml file that I need to filter called build.date, but there are other properties that I don't want to filter, like ${basedir}, because it's used by the ant installer but gets replaced by Maven's basedir variable. So, I need to somehow tell Maven to filter ${build.date}, but not ${basedir}. I tried creating a properties file as a filter with "basedir=${basedir}" as one of the properties, but I get the following error: Resolving expression: '${basedir}': Detected the following recursive expression cycle: [basedir] Any suggestions would be much appreciated.   I'm having a tough time figuring out how to instantiate a 2D array of pointer objects. Here is how I'm doing it: Pieces* chessBoard[9][9]; When I want to set it to an actual object pointer, I'm doing the following: chessBoard[1][1] = new Rook(p1Rook); Rook is a class that inherits attributes from the Pieces class and p1Rook is a char variable set to 'R'. This class also implements virtual functions (not pure virtual) from Pieces such as move() or getPiece() that are unique to the particular chess piece. However, when I compile my program, I get the following error: ChessBoard.cpp:69: error: expected type-specifier before ‘Rook’ ChessBoard.cpp:69: error: cannot convert ‘int*’ to ‘Pieces*’ in assignment Can someone please explain what I should change to get rid of this rather annoying persistent error? I would appreciate it.

I can see in Wireshark that the expected response is coming back to me from the server. • Sqlite3 Database versus populating Arrays

  hi, I am working on a program that requires me to input values for 12 objects, each with 4 arrays, each with 100 values. (4800) values. The 4 arrays represent possible outcomes based on 2 boolean values... i.e. YY, YN, NN, NY and the 100 values to the array are what I want to extract based on another inputted variable. I previously have all possible outcomes in a csv file, and have imported these into sqlite where I can query then for the value using sql. However, It has been suggested to me that sqlite database is not the way to go, and instead I should populate using arrays hardcoded. Which would be better during run time and for memory management?

• Can't return a String value and append it...why?

  I am writing an app and am having problems returning a simple string value, and I'm not sure why. The function I am using (within a file called APIManager.m) is: - (NSString*) returnVenueUrl { NSString *venueUrl = [devEnvironment stringByAppendingString:@"venue/id/"]; return venueUrl; } I can return this properly by doing this in another .m file: APIManager *apiManager = [APIManager apiManager]; NSLog(@"view venue URL is here: %@", [apiManager returnVenueUrl]); But when I go to append a variable cast as a String onto it, I get nothing.. venueURL = [apiManager returnVenueUrl]; venueURL = [venueURL stringByAppendingString:venueId]; NSLog(@"the Full Venue URL is: %", venueURL); If anyone has any advice on how to fix this, it would be much appreciated!

  Hi, I have to write a macro that get as parameter some variable, and for each two sequential bits with "1" value replace it with 0 bit. For example: 10110100 will become 10000100. And, 11110000-00000000 11100000-100000000 I'm having a troubles writing that macro. I've tried to write a macro that get wach bit and replace it if the next bit is the same (and they both 1), but it works only for 8 bits and it's very not friendly... P.S. I need a macro because I'm learning C and this is an exercise i found and i couldn't solve it myself. i know i can use function to make it easily... but i want to know how to do it with macros. • Screening (multi)collinearity in a reggresion model

  I hope that this one is not going to be "ask-and-answer" question... here goes: (multi)collinearity refers to extremely high correlations between predictors in the regression model. How to cure them... well, sometimes you don't need to "cure" collinearity, since it doesn't affect regression model itself, but interpretation of an effect of individual predictors. One way to spot collinearity is to put each predictor as a dependent variable, and other predictors as independent variables, determine R2, and if it's larger than .9 (or .95), we can consider predictor redundant. This is one "method"... what about other approaches? Some of them are time consuming, like excluding predictors from model and watching for b-coefficient changes - they should be noticeably different. Of course, we must always bare in mind specific context/goal of analysis... Sometimes, only remedy is to repeat a research, but right now, I'm interested in various ways of screening redundant predictors when (multi)collinearity occurs in a regression model.

• "_FILE_AND_LINE_ is not defined in this scope" (compiling RakNet NAT examples in OS X)

  Hello! I'm working on a RakNet-based project (using 3.8 on OS X 10.6), and I'm trying to work through the various examples that demonstrate the parts of RakNet I want to use. For the "NatCompleteClient" example, I've imported the source into a command-line project in XCode, along with the UPNP dependency. At compile time I've had a few errors in the UPNP section, though, and I can't find any guidance on this. In UPNPPortForwarder.mm, there are 7 lines that use _FILE_AND_LINE_, and the compiler is not happy; for example on line 232: foundInterfaces.Deallocate(r1,_FILE_AND_LINE_); causes: UPNPPortForwarder.mm:232: error: '_FILE_AND_LINE_' was not declared in this scope Can anyone tell me what this is all about? That variable doesn't seem to get talked about very often... or Google doesn't like to find it.

• Using Qt with custom MinGW

  Hi, I don't know if this question would fit better on superuser.com, but since it's rather compiler related, I give it a try here. I have to use Qt with a specific version of gcc (4.5). I downloaded the last official Qt release for Windows (Vista, 32 bits version) and didn't install the shipped MinGW version; I just installed the Qt libraries/binaries. In a console, when I type qmake && make, make fails, complaining that 'g++' is not recognized as an internal command. If I type g++ in the same console, I however have the following output: g++: no input files So g++ is definitely recognized. For those who may ask, both the Qt binaries directory and MinGW binaries directory are in the system PATH environment variable. What could be wrong here ?
