  • Second monitor not detected

    Hi I have two VGA monitors, my GPU is ATI PowerColor 6850 which has two DVI slots, I use adapters for both VGA monitors. If I connect any the two monitors in the first slot it will work right away (along the plugin confirmation sound). And if I connect any of both monitors to the second slot I won't get anything, nor a signal or confirmation sound. I also tried auto detecting via Catalyst Control Center and Windows Desktop Resolution. I have the latest drivers installed. EDIT: I found this on the Spec Description: Display Connectors DL-DVI-I/SL-DVI-D And in NewEgg: 2 x DVI (1 Single Link, 1 Dual Link) Could this have anything to do with my issue?

  • How to create a new public AMI for windows?

    I am trying to make a windows 2008 AMI that is a nice clean 64bit starter pack (IIS, SQL express, ASP.NET MVC, etc...) I would like to make it a public AMI when its done. There in lies the problem. I can make an AMI from my image no problem. But I can't seen to get new instances to generate their own passwords.. The results are that I have a new instance that works great with my password. So what is the process of making my EBS backed Instances convert into an AMI that will auto-generate its password and do all the other setup steps that amazon wants to go thru when a new instance starts up?     Hi All There is this 3rd party webservice. One of the public webmethods available is a GetDocument() method. This method returns a Document object. The Document object has properties for File(byte[]), ContentType(string) ect. My Question : Can I subscribe to this service using javascript(mootools) + ajax + JSON, return the document object, in this case an excel document, and force the file download?

  • Corrupt mysql system tables

    I am having issues with the columns_priv table in the mysql system database. I cannot add new users currently. I have tried repairing it using mysqlcheck --auto-repair --all-databases --password but I get the following output: mysql.columns_priv Error : Incorrect file format 'columns_priv' error : Corrupt Is there any other way to repair this table, or how do I go about replacing it with a blank table? What would I lose by doing that? Thank you Edit (Additional Info) mysqld is currently using 100% cpu constantly.   • Avoid Apache's mod_status being exposed by Varnish

    An Ubuntu 9.04 box running Apache on 8080 and Varnish on 80. Recently set up Munin and was wondering why Apache graphs are empty. Saw from the logs that Munin is accessing /server-status?auto and getting 403 Forbidden back. So I edited /etc/apache2/monds-enabled/status.conf to allow access from 127.0.0.1. But doing this actually made /server-status public, since requests coming through Varnish appear to come from 127.0.0.1 too. So the question is, how do I configure mod_status to be accessible only by munin-node and not by Varnish?

    A friend, using a remote machine, ran a script that SSHed to my machine, and ran the following python script that resides on my machine: while (1): ....print "hello world" (this script simply prints 'hello world' continuously). I am now logged in to my machine. How can I see the output of the script my friend was running? if it helps, I can 'spot' the script my friend is using: me@home:~$ ps aux | grep justprint.py **friend 7494 12.8 0.3 7260 3300 ?     I would like to be able to model a many-to-many relationship that has extra details about the relationship. For example: Person: int id, String name Project: int id, String name ProjectPerson: Person.id, Project.id, String role Whenever I create the ProjectPerson association in the EF, I am unable to add the role attribute to the association. If I create the tables in my DB and then import it into the model, I lose the extra properties.

The website is developed on ASP.net, with Microsoft Framework 3.5 I have set the content expiry to 12 hours for the complete site using the following settings : IIS Manager-Site-Properties-HTTP Headers-Enable Content Expiration-Expire After-12 Hours(s) The Problem is that when i load the site, Expiry header is not being sent with the site. can any one please help me with this.

In other words, is it possible to say something like: [managedObject beginChanges]; [managedObject setPropertyA:@"Foo"]; [managedObject setPropertyB:@"Bar"]; [managedObject commitChanges]; and then have the NSFetchedResultsController call controllerDidChangeContent: (and the other methods) only one time?   • App / protocol to tune into live audio and video based on schedule or subscription

    Many of us have embraced the podcasting revolution enabled by rss feeds and podcatchers. Alot of sites now broadcast live streams of what is eventually edited into a podcast. In most cases listening to the live stream gets you the info several days sooner then the podcast. So I was wondering if anybody knows of a notification protocol / app that allows me to auto tune into certain streams when they go live, or based on a schedule. I imagine twitter could be used for the notification but It'd be better not to be tied to a proprietary service.   • m2eclipse sets JDK compliance to 1.4

    Using eclipse 3.5, when I create a new maven project, m2eclipse automatically adds J2SE1.4 to libraries and Compiler Compliance Level to 1.4 (Project properties Java Compiler). My JRE system library is 1.6 and my default compiler compliance level is 1.6. I don't even have 1.4 installed. Can I make m2eclipse use my default settings and prevent it from modifying project settings?

  • Why does OS X automatically logout my user?

    I have a new MacBook Air set up with filevault. In the Security preference pane I have "Require password 1 hour after sleep or screen saver begins" enabled, but the "Logout after 60 minutes of inactivity" is disabled. When I leave the computer on overnight I manually lock the screen (from the Keychain status menu bar, which I enabled via the Keychain Access preferences). Alas, in the morning I find that instead of a locked screen I see the login window, after my user was logged out with all applications terminated... (e.g. Firefox thinks it previously crashed when I launch it). This type of behavior only started after I enabled Filevault. Why is this happening? How do I prevent such auto-logout?

  • Why does my Mac address reset after reconnecting?

    I have ubuntu 12. I'm changing my mac address with ifconfig wlan0 hw ether xx:xx:xx:xx:xx:xx which works. However when I restart my connection my computer resets my mac to my original mac address. I'm guessing that this happens because something calls... ifconfig wlan0 down ... do something before connecting ifconfig wlan0 up ... connect to designated access point I want my mac address to however be the same no matter how many times I disconnect and reconnect, whether to another network or the same one. Also it would be nice to turn off the auto-connect feature for my network-manager with out having to edit each individual connection. Lastly I would like to know how to connect to a wifi network through the terminal and not via gui network manager ubuntu provides.

  • How to prevent HP Photosmart Essential from launching on removal drive insertion

    My in-laws bought an HP computer loaded with HP junk, and it's giving me a headache. When they insert a camera memory card into their printer, the Auto-Play dialog comes up, but it also launches the HP Photosmart Essential application, which is a piece of trash. It will NOT launch properly just normally from the taskbar, so that makes it pretty useless. I tried uninstalling it, but then when you insert a memory card, a Microsoft Help window comes up saying how to reinstall HP Photosmart Essential!! Is there any way to find the registry key (I assume) that allows a program to be launched when a memory card is inserted?

  • Reducing width of bar chart series

    Note: by width i mean the height here, I use width because by default, bar charts are vertical and flex uses the width property I want to reduce the width of the following barchart so Type 5, Type 4, Type 3, Type 2, Type 1 are very close to each other. I tried playing with the barWidthRatio, the horizontalAxisRatio and the maxBarWidth properties. Neither is giving me the desired result. I can only manage to reduce the width of the orange bars, how do I reduce the width of the blue bars?

  • Requiring mulitple group membership in order to access folder

    How would I go about creating a file or folder that requires a user to be a member of two or more different groups in order to read/write to the folder? For example, say I run an auto repair shop, and I have a folder called "Repair History" and I only want people to access it if they are members of BOTH the "Mechanics" and "Cashiers" group? This would be an AND requirment instead of an OR requirement which seems to be the norm. I know we can create a separate group that is needed to access the folder, but this is more of an academic question, since it pertains to a different security structure that we are creating. I'm not sure if MS security handles it, but I'm wondering how it would be done either way.

    Hi, I'm not sure when this happened but when I was trying to edit a menustrip in my program (in the VS designer), I noticed that the menu items had be grouped or merged. Like: File Edit Format Insert ... Instead of being able to click each menu item and add sub-items to them in the designer, they all were grouped together so I couldn't edit the menu items separately, it's quite painful. I couldn't find any properties related to this, so how could I ungroup the menu items in the designer?
