  • Simplest way of creating java next/previous buttons

    - by Holly
I know that when creating buttons, like next and previous, that the code can be somewhat long to get those buttons to function. My professor gave us this example to create the next button: private void jbtnNext_Click() { JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Next" ,"Button Pressed", JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE); try { if (rset.next()) { fillTextFields(false); }else{ //Display result in a dialog box JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, "Not found"); } } catch (SQLException ex) { ex.printStackTrace(); } } Though, I do not really understand how that short and simple if statement is what makes the next button function. I see that the fillTextFields(false) uses a boolean value and that you need to initialize that boolean value in the beginning of the code I believe. I had put private fillTextFields boolean = false; but this does not seem to be right... I'm just hoping someone could explain it better. Thanks :)

  • Ad networks that will serve via HTTPS?

    - by Dogweather
I've built a website with 160K page views per month that serves every page over HTTPS. The recent FireSheep news will probably increase the adoption of "HTTPS everywhere" but it's been very hard to find ad networks and affiliates that will serve their content via HTTPS. I don't want to use these because I don't want my visitors to get "broken security" notification from their browsers (and of course, relevant ads would be a leak of private information). I'm tired of spending a ton of time signing up with ad networks and affiliates only to find out down the road that they don't support HTTPS (e.g. AdSense). Can anyone suggest any options or provide a pointer to a list of these somewhere?

  • File created using MODE_WORLD_READABLE not getting sent as attachment by email

    - by Dheeraj
I created the SQLite DB using the following code: context.openOrCreateDatabase(dbName, Context.MODE_WORLD_READABLE, null); And tried to send it as attachment by email using the following code: Intent emailIntent = new Intent(android.content.Intent.ACTION_SEND) .setType("message/rfc822") .putExtra(android.content.Intent.EXTRA_STREAM, Uri.fromFile(getDatabasePath(dbName))); startActivity(Intent.createChooser(emailIntent, null)); This opens the GMail compose activity with the attachment icon. But the recipient did not receive the attachment. This has been asked before. But it looks like there is no solution other than to copy the db file to SD card. My question then is: What is the use of the MODE_WORLD_READABLE flag if another app like GMail is unable to read the file?

  • Ubuntu freezes when gdm starts

    - by Enrique
I have Ubuntu 10.10 (upgraded from 10.04) I was browsing in Firefox yesterday, then the PC suddenly did a reset Once it restarted, everything went normal until gdm begun showing. Then everything froze and locked when userlist showed. I can't move mouse pointer nor do anything with keyboard at this point (just after userlist shows in gdm). PS: Both, mouse and keyboard work fine, because this Ubuntu is dual-booting with a Windows XP install which loads/works fine. Here is my .xsession-errors file, but I don't have a clue what may be wrong. Thanks http://pastebin.com/GVtneEAF

  • How do I detect server status in a port scanner java implementation

    - by akz
I am writing a port scanner in Java and I want to be able to distinct the following 4 use cases: port is open port is open and server banner was read port is closed server is not live I have the following code: InetAddress address = InetAddress.getByName("google.com"); int[] ports = new int[]{21, 22, 23, 80, 443}; for (int i = 0; i < ports.length; i++) { int port = ports[i]; Socket socket = null; try { socket = new Socket(address, port); socket.setSoTimeout(500); System.out.println("port " + port + " open"); BufferedReader reader = new BufferedReader( new InputStreamReader(socket.getInputStream())); String line = reader.readLine(); if (line != null) { System.out.println(line); } socket.close(); } catch (SocketTimeoutException ex) { // port was open but nothing was read from input stream ex.printStackTrace(); } catch (ConnectException ex) { // port is closed ex.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { e.printStackTrace(); } finally { if (socket != null && !socket.isClosed()) { try { socket.close(); } catch (Exception e) { e.printStackTrace(); } } } } The problem is that I get a ConnectionException both when the port is closed and the server cannot be reached but with a different exception message: java.net.ConnectException: Connection timed out: connect when the connection was never established and java.net.ConnectException: Connection refused: connect when the port was closed so I cannot make the distinction between the two use cases without digging into the actual exception message. Same thing happens when I try a different approach for the socket creation. If I use: socket = new Socket(); socket.setSoTimeout(500); socket.connect(new InetSocketAddress(address, port), 1000); I have the same problem but with the SocketTimeoutException instead. I get a java.net.SocketTimeoutException: Read timed out if port was open but there was no banner to be read and java.net.SocketTimeoutException: connect timed out if server is not live or port is closed. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

  • Java Micro Edition (J2ME) - Update Record using recordstore enumeration

    - by Garbit
Hi there, I have a record store of items which have (name, quantity, owner, status) Now when the user triggers an event i want to set the status of all items in my recordstore with "purchased" re = shoppingListStore.enumerateRecords(null, null, false); while (re.hasNextElement()) { // read current values of item byte [] itemRecord = re.nextRecord(); // deserialise byte array newItemObject.fromByteArray(itemRecord); // set item status to purchased newItemObject.setItemStatus("Purchased"); // create new bytearray and call newitemobject . tobytearray method to return a byte array of the object (using UTF8 encoded strings~) byte[] itemData = newItemObject.toByteArray(); // add new byte array to shoppinglist store shoppingListStore.setRecord(re.nextRecordId(), itemData, 0, itemData.length); } However I am overwriting the next record (using the nextRecordId), i've tried using nextRecordId - 1 but obviously this is out of bounds on the first one Hope you can help, Many thanks, andy

  • System.Windows.Forms.DataGridView does not display data

    - by Water Cooler v2
All I am doing is a simple: // Both the methods, order.GetAllOrderItems() and order.GetOrderedItemsWhereBrandIs("foo") // return an IEnumerable<T> so the assignment to the DataSource property of the DataGridView // should be fine. The problem is in re-assigning the data source property. public void DisplayItems() { // The data appears if I have just this line. dgvOrderedItems.DataSource = order.GetAllOrderItems(); dgvOrderedItems.DataSource = null; // This time the data grid does not take the new data source. Instead, because // of the null assignment in the previous statement, it displays no data at all. dgvOrderedItems.DataSource = order.GetOrderedItemsWhereBrandIs("Lenovo"); } My question is: is there a way to change the data source of a DataGridView control once it has been set? I am using C# 4.0 and Visual Studio 2010 for development.

  • Merge two lists of objects which hold different data

    - by C.McAtackney
I have an object "Project" which has a number of fields, one of which is "Name". I have one spreadsheet of projects which contains some of these fields, and another which contains the rest. However, Both spreadsheets have the "Name" field. I've read them in and populated two List, only populating the available fields from that particular source. E.g. a Project from List 1 looks like; {Name="MyProj", Type="Form", Priority=NULL}, whereas a Project from List 2 {Name="MyProj", Type=NULL, Priority="High"}. Now, I want to merge these two lists into one in which each Project object has all of its fields populated, with the Name field being used to match the elements. How can I achieve this? Are there any nice ways of doing this concisely? Thanks

  • How to determine where a Mailitem is being opened from in Outlook 2007 using VSTO 2005 SE

    - by Adam
I have an Outlook 2007 Add-in in VSTO 2005 SE that allows users to save e-mails into our document management system. From within our system users are able to open e-mails they have previously saved. However, when doing so I need to try and prevent them from saving them again. I am trying to figure out how to determine if the Mailitem being opened is coming from the Outlook e-mail client or from an external source. I know that normally the EntryId Property of the Mailitem is null or empty string when a Mailitem has not been previously saved in Outlook, however, it seems like when a Mailitem is being opened from within our system the EntryID is not null.

  • Navigation properties not set when using ADO.NET Mocking Context Generator

    - by olenak
I am using ADO.NET Mocking Context Generator plugin for my Entity Framework model. I have not started on using mocks yet, just trying to fix generated entity and context classes to make application run as before without exceptions. I've already fixed T4 template to support SaveChanges method. Now I've got another problem: when I try to access any navigation property it is set to null. All the primitive fields inherited from DB table are set and correct. So what I am doing is the following using (var context = MyContext()) { var order = context.Orders.Where(p => p.Id == 7); var product = order.Products; } in this case product is set to null. But that was not a case while using default code generator, it used to return real product object. Thanks ahead for any suggestions!

  • Finding efficient overlapped entries in a SQL table

    - by Laoneo
What is the most efficient way to find all entries which do overlap with others in the same table? Every entry has a start and end date. For example I have the following database setup: CREATE TABLE DEMO ( DEMO_ID int IDENTITY , START date NOT NULL , END date NOT NULL }; INSERT INTO DEMO (DEMO_ID, START, END) VALUES (1, '20100201', '20100205'); INSERT INTO DEMO (DEMO_ID, START, END) VALUES (2, '20100202', '20100204'); INSERT INTO DEMO (DEMO_ID, START, END) VALUES (3, '20100204', '20100208'); INSERT INTO DEMO (DEMO_ID, START, END) VALUES (4, '20100206', '20100211'); My query looks as follow: SELECT DISTINCT * FROM DEMO A, DEMO B WHERE A.DEMO_ID != B.DEMO_ID AND A.START < B.END AND B.START < A.END The problem is when my demo table has for example 20'000 rows the query takes too long. My environment is MS SQL Server 2008. Thanks for any more efficient solution

  • How to perform gui operation in doInBackground method?

    - by jM2.me
    My application reads a user selected file which contains addresses and then displays on mapview when done geocoding. To avoid hanging app the importing and geocoding is done in AsyncTask. public class LoadOverlayAsync extends AsyncTask<Uri, Integer, StopsOverlay> { Context context; MapView mapView; Drawable drawable; public LoadOverlayAsync(Context con, MapView mv, Drawable dw) { context = con; mapView = mv; drawable = dw; } protected StopsOverlay doInBackground(Uri... uris) { StringBuilder text = new StringBuilder(); StopsOverlay stopsOverlay = new StopsOverlay(drawable, context); Geocoder geo = new Geocoder(context, Locale.US); try { File file = new File(new URI(uris[0].toString())); BufferedReader br = new BufferedReader(new FileReader(file)); String line; while ((line = br.readLine()) != null) { StopOverlay stopOverlay = null; String[] tempLine = line.split("~"); List<Address> results = geo.getFromLocationName(tempLine[4] + " " + tempLine[5] + " " + tempLine[7] + " " + tempLine[8], 10); if (results.size() > 0) { Toast progressToast = Toast.makeText(context, "More than one yo", 1000); progressToast.show(); } else if (results.size() == 1) { Address addr = results.get(0); GeoPoint mPoint = new GeoPoint((int)(addr.getLatitude() * 1E6), (int)(addr.getLongitude() * 1E6)); stopOverlay = new StopOverlay(mPoint, tempLine); } if (stopOverlay != null) { stopsOverlay.addOverlay(stopOverlay); } //List<Address> results = geo.getFromLocationName(locationName, maxResults) } } catch (URISyntaxException e) { showErrorToast(e.toString()); //e.printStackTrace(); } catch (FileNotFoundException e) { showErrorToast(e.toString()); //e.printStackTrace(); } catch (IOException e) { showErrorToast(e.toString()); //e.printStackTrace(); } return stopsOverlay; } protected void onProgressUpdate(Integer... progress) { Toast progressToast = Toast.makeText(context, "Loaded " + progress.toString(), 1000); progressToast.show(); } protected void onPostExecute(StopsOverlay so) { //mapView.getOverlays().add(so); Toast progressToast = Toast.makeText(context, "Done geocoding", 1000); progressToast.show(); } protected void showErrorToast(String msg) { Toast Newtoast = Toast.makeText(context, msg, 10000); Newtoast.show(); } } But if geocode fails, I want a dialog popup to let user edit the address. That would require calling on gui method while in doInBackground. What would be a good workaround this?

  • ASP.NET - Update Dataset directly to DB

    - by karthik
Hi, Description: I wanted to update dataset to database in Asp.NET. Instead of retrieving the entire table, I am retrieving only one record using the following statement :- select * from Products where ProductID=3 Now I wanted to update dataset directly in to DB by using following statements (DAP 4.1) db.UpdateDataSet(ds, ds.Tables[0].TableName, null, cmdupdate, null, UpdateBehavior.Standard); Questions Can I Retrieve only one row from DB while a lot of other records are there and update back using Adapter update? ( In other words, I am not selecting all records from table) I am using Data Application Block 4.1? It will work there right? If anyone can give example for update will be great ( with Procedures). Thanks Ka

  • Applying styles to a GridView matching certain criteria

    - by NickK
Hi everyone. I'm fairly new to ASP.Net so it's probably just me being a bit stupid, but I just can't figure out why this isn't working. Basically, I have a GridView control (GridView1) on a page which is reading from a database. I already have a CSS style applied to the GridView and all I want to do is change the background image applied in the style depending on if a certain cell has data in it or not. The way I'm trying to handle this change is updating the CSS class applied to each row through C#. I have the code below doing this: protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { GridViewRow row = e.Row; string s = row.Cells[7].Text; if (s.Length > 0) { row.CssClass = "newRowBackground"; } else { row.CssClass = "oldRowBackground"; } } In theory, the data from Cell[7] will either be null or be a string (in this case, likely a person's name). The problem is that when the page loads, every row in the GridView has the new style applied to it, whether it's empty or not. However, when I change it to use hard coded examples, it works fine. So for example, the below would work exactly how I want it to: protected void GridView1_RowDataBound(object sender, GridViewRowEventArgs e) { GridViewRow row = e.Row; string s = row.Cells[7].Text; if (s == "Smith") //Matching a name in one of the rows { row.CssClass = "newRowBackground"; } else { row.CssClass = "oldRowBackground"; } } It seems as if the top piece of code is always returning the string with a value greater than 0, but when I check the database the fields are all null (except for my test record of "Smith"). I'm probably doing something very simple that's wrong here, but I can't see what. Like I said, I'm still very new to this. One thing I have tried is changing the argument in the if statement to things like: if (s != null), if (s != "") and if (s == string.empty) all with no luck. Any help is greatly appreciated and don't hesitate to tell me if I'm just being stupid here. :)

  • Serializing JSON string to object

    - by user1476075
I am trying to parse through a JSON string and convert it to the following POJO: package apicall; //POJO representation of OAuthAccessToken public class OAuthAccessToken { private String tokenType; private String tokenValue; public OAuthAccessToken(String tokenType,String tokenValue) { this.tokenType=tokenType; this.tokenValue=tokenValue; } public String toString() { return "tokenType="+tokenType+"\ntokenValue="+tokenValue; } public String getTokenValue() { return tokenValue; } public String getTokenType() { return tokenType; } } In order to do this I have written the following code: Gson gson=new Gson(); String responseJSONString="{\"access_token\" : \"2YotnFZFEjr1zCsicMWpAA\",\"token_type\" : \"bearer\"}"; OAuthAccessToken token=gson.fromJson(responseJSONString, OAuthAccessToken.class); System.out.println(token); When I run the code, I get the following output: tokenType=null tokenValue=null Instead of tokenType=bearer tokenValue=2YotnFZFEjr1zCsicMWpAA I dont understand if there's anything I've done wrong. • Why does $('#id') return true if id doesn't exist?

    - by David
I always wondered why jQuery returns true if I'm trying to find elements by id selector that doesnt exist in the DOM structure. Like this: <div id="one">one</div> <script> console.log( !!$('#one') ) // prints true console.log( !!$('#two') ) // is also true! (empty jQuery object) console.log( !!document.getElementById('two') ) // prints false </script> I know I can use !!$('#two').length since length === 0 if the object is empty, but it seems logical to me that a selector would return the element if found, otherwise null (like the native document.getElementById does). F.ex, this logic can't be done in jQuery: var div = $('#two') || $('<div id="two"></div>'); Wouldnt it be more logical if the ID selector returned null if not found? anyone?

  • Get/save parameters to an expected JMock method call?

    - by Tayeb
Hi, I want to test an "Adapter" object that when it receives an xml message, it digest it to a Message object, puts message ID + CorrelationID both with timestamps and forwards it to a Client object.=20 A message can be correlated to a previous one (e.g. m2.correlationID =3D m1.ID). I mock the Client, and check that Adapter successfully calls "client.forwardMessage(m)" twice with first message with null correlationID, and a second with a not-null correlationID. However, I would like to precisely test that the correlationIDs are set correctly, by grabing the IDs (e.g. m1.ID). But I couldn't find anyway to do so. There is a jira about adding the feature, but no one commented and it is unassigned. Is this really unimplemented? I read about the alternative of redesigning the Adapter to use an IdGenerator object, which I can stub, but I think there will be too many objects.=20 Don't you think it adds unnecessary complexity to split objects to a so fine granularity? Thanks, and I appreciate any comments :-) Tayeb

  • abstract class need acces to subclass atribute

    - by user1742980
I have a problem with my code. public abstract class SimplePolygon implements Polygon { ... public String toString(){ String str = "Polygon: vertices ="; for(int i = 0;i<varray.length;i++){ str += " "; str += varray[i]; } return str; } } public class ArrayPolygon extends SimplePolygon { private Vertex2D[] varray; public ArrayPolygon(Vertex2D[] array){ varray = new Vertex2D[array.length]; if (array == null){} for(int i = 0;i<array.length;i++){ if (array[i] == null){} varray[i] = array[i]; } ... } Problem is, that i'm not allowed to add any atribute or method to abstract class SimplePolygon, so i'cant properly initialize varray. It could simply be solved with protected atrib in that class, but for some (stupid) reason i'cant do that. Has anybody an idea how to solve it without that? Thanks for all help.
