  • how do you group select_tag and text_field_tag?

    I'm trying to build a form where a user can select an existing category, or define their own. My form looks something like this... <%= f.select :category, category_options, prompt: "Select"> <%= f.text_field :category %> However, this UI is confusing. The user can select something in the select box, and type in a custom category. In this case, the final result is not obvious. Do you guys have any recommendations on how to handle this situation?

  • Access to Wordpress page through email link

    I have a Wordpress site and what I would like to do is for users to send their email address through a form and then my email client would send automatically message them with a link to a certain page. That page should not be accessable without that link. Is that possible to do and are there any ready plugins for this?     Newbie CSS question. I thought 'width:auto' for a display:block element meant 'fill available space'. However for an <input> element this doesn't seem to be the case. For example: <body> <form style='background-color:red'> <input type='text' style='background-color:green;display:block;width:auto'> </form> </body> Two questions then: Is there a definition of exactly what width:auto does mean? The CSS spec seems vague to me, but maybe I missed the relevant section. Is there a way to achieve my expected behaviour for a input field - ie. fill available space like other block level elements do? Thanks!

    My view uses ModelX to render my HTML form and my controller action takes ModelY as input when saving the form. It seems the typesafe textbox API assumes I am using the same model in both places. I am trying to creating a form on Frontpage 2003 and right now all my boxes are all over the place, as shown below: Name: [----] Email: [----] I want the boxes to be like this: Name: [----] Email: [----] I have tried using table to line up the boxes but when it come to giving an ID using the 'Lable' on the 'Form' tool bar by highlighting the text box and 'Name', the table get highlighted and wont create an lable. I just want to line up vertically all the boxes and i am new to web design so i dont understand much about HTML or CSS. I dont think Frontpage 2003 has CSS.   • Image upload not functioning correctly

    I'm still trying to get to grips with PHP, and I'm trying to make a form that uploads a picture to a database. I don't have permissions for move_uploaded_file so I'm using the copy() as an alternative. Everywhere I've seen experiencing similar problems have all been with move_uploaded_file so I'm rather stuck. Trying to copy the image from the desktop doesn't seem to be working, it's not throwing up any more PHP errors but is displaying the error message for if something goes wrong. The form sends data to two tables in the database but I'm mainly concerned with the upload not working.     The use case is simple. I allow users to enter in an expiration field which needs to be between 1 and 15 into a form. The model takes that number and converts it into a datetime (such as adding 15 days from today) and stores it in the database. What's the correct way to actually validate that though? Do I validate against the datetime format that gets persisted in the database or the select box (1..15) that the user gets to pick through the form? I want to be able to validate that the user is putting in 1..15.. How is this done with ActiveRecord validation in Rails 2.3.5?

  • JQuery validation based on class?

    I have a form that will have dynamically created elements, one of those will be of date type. There can also be many fields of this type on my form, all which must be validated. I am using a strongly typed view in Asp MVC, so the name will change based on various factors. What I would like to do is validate based on a class name instead, since that will be constant for that type of field. Ie: <%= Html.TextBox("questionAnswers[" + index + "].AnswerValue", qa.AnswerValue, new { @class = "DateTypeClass" })%> So then I would need JQuery validation based on the classname DateTypeClass versus the Name. Any ideas?

  • Site works perfect in Mozilla but not in IE. Is my js file not compatible with IE

    I'm working on a site written in PHP/MySQL. We have a form to reserve time on a calendar and it works great in Mozilla and stores the reservation to our database, but in IE you fill out the form and when you click the "Reserve" button to submit it and nothing happens. All I can think of is that my javascript is not working with IE. I have these lines in my .js file: resLenT = document.getElementById(resLenElem); resLenI = resLenT.selectedIndex; resLen = resLenI + 1; where resLenElem is a drop-down box. These are the only lines that I can think of at the moment that might be causing trouble in IE. Does this all sound like I'm on the right track or am I way off base?

  • Firefox running infinitely even after condition met in jquery function

    The following function is called with setTimeout(function () { get_progress(fileID,fileName)},8000); upon a form submit. The purpose of the function is to get read_file.php to read a txt file that stores the file upload status from a form (in percentage). Upon reaching 80%, my Firefox seems to run infinitely even when HEAD returns an error.   • Executing a file not a project

    I use Aptana Studio for my PHP projects. I have not learned it but just used with what I was able to do in it. Many features I still don't know how to use in it. At present, I have a HTML form and I want to write a .php script for the SEND button that it has. It is a submission script for the contact form. I want a simple PHP IDE with which I can execute a single PHP file or work with at least two or three files easily, without much mess. Please suggest a simple alternative to Aptana.

    I have created a custom combobox that has a LABEL property so when we drop it on a form, we can say the Label associated with this ComboBox is say Label2 this is what I wrote for its label property.     Hi, I'm attempting to run unit tests for a static library that attempts to create/write/read a file in the document directory. Since this is a static library and not an application for the iOS, attempts to reference the NSDocumentDirectory is returning me directory for the form "/Users//Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/Documents" This directory does not exist. When attempting to access a directory from an actual application, the NSDocumentDirectory returns something of the form: "/Users//Library/Application Support/iPhone Simulator/4.2/FEDBEF5F-1326-4383-A087-CDA1B865E61A/Documents" (Please note the simulator version as well as application ID as part of the path) How can I overcome this shortcoming in the unit test framework for static libraries that implement tests that require iOS app specific calls?     I am trying to create a windows form project, and use speech recognition for the Kinect with the Kinect to Windows SDK. I have the form application project (p1) and the Kinect speech project (p2) which is a command prompt. I made it a command prompt because it was the easiest way to do things. Anyway, I have read and found two things about this. 1)I found out how to run two projects at the same time in the same solution. 2) I also found out how to add references to get classes from each project to the other. So, how would I get variables from each project? Just by using project references, or something? P2 can recognize speech and save it to variables, if that counts for anything.
