• UI updates not happening in the expected order

  I have a Panel which hosts a number of child controls in a grid layout. The child controls each consist of a Panel with a PictureBox and a Label. When one of these child controls is clicked it becomes "selected" (which basically entails changing its background to a different color) and an event is fired. In the handler for this event, an image is displayed in a PictureBox on a separate form. In code, the background of the child control is definitely changed before firing the event, but for some reason it never updates at runtime until after the image has updated in the other Form. I've tried to Invalidate() and Refresh() the child control before firing the event, without effect. Why is this happening, and what can I do to set it right?

  Hi, I've been trying for a couple hours now to figure out why JavaScript wouldn't work. • passing array fields to jquery ajax

  I have a form I am submitting via jquery ajax. Early in the form, I have this field: <select name="inquirymodule[]" id="inquirymodule"> The user can add as many as they like, and all the selects go into the inquirymodule[] array. The jQuery looks like this: jQuery.ajax({ type: 'POST', url: 'ajax.php', dataType: 'json', data: { inquirymodule: jQuery("select[name='inquirymodule[]']").serialize(), }, error: function(XMLHttpRequest, textStatus, errorThrown) { alert('error'); } }); That works fine. Trying to do the same thing with a date, like this: <input class="formInput" type="text" id="startBreak0" name='startbreak[]' /> adding startbreak: jQuery("select[name='startbreak[]']").serialize() to the ajax call. It doesn't work, I cannot see why. Suggestions?

• Having access to a private variable from other classes in Java

  If I want to create a form that adds people to a List, how do I have access to that List from another class? Where would I define that List so other classes can access the members, the size, etc? For example, if I have Class Foo that has the GUI for my form, along with buttons to add and remove people to the List, it would make sense to me to declare the List as a private instance variable of Class Foo. But then if I have another class, Class Bar, how does it get the values that are currently in that List to update some other graphical components? Or is that the wrong place to declare the List in general? Thanks.

  hi there. I'm trying to fill-out a form automatically and press a button on that form and wait for a response. How do I go about doing this? To be more particular, I have a a --HUGE-- collection DNA strains which I need to compare to each-other. Luckily, there's a website that does exactly what I need. Basically, I type-in 2 different sequences of DNA and click the "Align Sequences" button and get a result (the calculation of the score is not relevant). Is there a way to make a Java program that will automatically insert the input, "click" the button and read the response from this website? Thanks!

• Django forms: where is POST data received?

  I have a widget that allows user to enter data for a model field. The data in the form can't be directly converted to Python - it requires some coercion. Where do I put this code? Is the widget responsible for translating its post data to a python value? The field itself? I thought that maybe value_from_datadict() would be correct, but now it looks like that serves a different purpose. (I'm using the form in the admin interface, if it makes any difference.)

  If I create a JQuery widget (code example below), and then define a "public" method, is there any other way to call the method other than using the following form? $("#list").list("publicMethod"); I would like to create a series of widgets that all define the same methods (basically implementing the same interface), and be able to call the method without knowing anything about which widget I currently am invoking the method on. In the current form, I need to know that I am executing the method on the "list" widget. Below is an example of creating a widget with the "public" method.   Hi, I have this code: setMyCookie('name','value_1'); $('.myform').submit(); setMyCookie('name','value_2'); Problem: Webkit browsers seem to update 'MyCookie' with 'value_2' before the form gets submited, or in the exact moment it is being submited, so wrong cookie value is sent with it. I want to change cookie value to 'value_2' immediately after the form is submited so the cookie is ready for another request. The following code works fine, but I don't think using timeout() is the best solution. • Unable to center text in IE but works in firefox

  Can somebody point out where I'm going wrong with the following code. Text inside td elements need to be centered except for Summary and Experience. This only appears to work in Firefox/chrome. In IE8 all td text are displayed as left-justified. No matter what I try it doesn't center it. Any particular reason why this would happen? • Javascript click function for multiple Classes

  So basically I have this little social networking site which allow comments. I've built a comment section that will slide down once a user clicks "Comment" and it slides down under the users status. My problem is that right now, the JavaScript only works on ONE post ID, and not the rest obviously seeing you can only use an ID once. But of course if I use classes instead, All the comment sections slide down because now they're all the same class. See below for my HTML and JavaScript. • Unable to recieve file contents on server during upload

  Hello, I have a JSP page in which I have a file input field from which I browse a csv file and then upload it on server. I am using method = "POST" and ENCTYPE='multipart/form-data' in the form in which this file input field is present. On the servlet side(in the application's servlet) I am making use of apache's commom file upload API-ServletFileUpload API. After getting the FileItem list from the method parseRequest(request) of this API I am unable to get the file name and its content by using the methods getName(), getString() of FileItem API. Needed to know what am I doing wrong or any modifications in my approach that will make my application to work. Any pointers regarding this will be helpful. Thanks in advance!!

  I'm using custom tags to define sections in an application, so I have something like this: <mysection> <form> <input name="myfield"> </form> </mysection> I'm using the following and able to get the tag (printed to console, everything is groovy) var parent = document.getElementsByTagName('mysection'); The issue I'm having is finding the child field by name: var myfield = parent.getElementsByName("myfield"); ...as I don't want to pick up on any other 'sections' that might have an input with the name 'myfield'. EDIT: var parent = document.getElementsByTagName('mysection')[0]; was suggested and returns to console the section contents, however, getElementsByName throws an error: Uncaught TypeError: Object #<NodeList> has no method 'getElementsByName'

• Django: Is it possible to attach media files (css, javascript etc) to a View-class?

  I can't fins any information on how to define css or javascript files in a view like: class MyView(View): .... class Media: css = { 'all' : 'mystyle.css' } If you have a form you can do like: class MyForm(ModelForm): .... class Media: css = { 'all' : 'mystyle.css' } And then in the template you can print the files like; {{ form.media.css }} I like that Syntax very much and I like to keep the View-specific css files in the app-directory.   I've gotten a fair amount of work done on my latest project, but I've realized there's a bit of a problem: If you don't have a Javascript-enabled browser, you can't submit any forms because every form uses AJAX to submit it. My question to you all: How can I implement some sort of "fallback" so that if they don't have Javascript enabled, they can still submit the form. Currently I have a banner along the header that says "For the optimal (and by "optimal," we mean "actually working") experience, please enable Javascript in your browser." but that seems like less than the optimal solution.   I am programming a GUI application in Java. I do it for the first time. I would like to have a form (with radio buttons and so on). After the form is filled in and the "Submit" button is pressed I would like to have a new window. I see two potential ways to do it: Close the "old" window and open a "new" one. Remove "old" elements from the existing window and put there "new" elements. What is the standard way to go? If it is the first way, what is the command to close the window? If it is the second one, how can I remove elements from the existing window?

• Java Web Application

  I am interested in creating a simple web application that will take in user input, convert it to an XML file and send the file to a database. Coding wise I feel I am okay, it is just the general setup and what implementation to use I am a bit unsure of. At the moment I have a JSP page containing a form, the user fills out the form and on submit a get method is sent to a servlet, in the servlet doGet() method the servlet is instantiating a java object and passing it the user inputted data. The java object then writes that data to an XML file and sends it to the database via REST. All I would be interested to know is if this the standard/optimal way of creating such a web application. Any and all feedback is appreciated. Thanks

• Possible to get jquery .serializeArray() values out by key name?

  Hi I am using the jquery .serializeArray() function and I send it to the server and that works all good.However I need to update a couple things on the client side that are serialized. So instead of doing another selector on the textbox I want to just grab it out of the serialized array. I am not sure how to do this Product=Test&Qty=50 So say if I have something like this. I can I do something like this var sendFormData = form.serializeArray(); var val = sendFormData["Product"].value; but this seems not to work. I only can get it to work when I do something like this var sendFormData = form.serializeArray(); var val = sendFormData[0].value; I really don't want to do it by index since that means if the order changes the values could be all wrong. If you could do it by like keyname then that would not be a problem.
