  • Get from Android BroadcastReciever to a UI

    I have a reciever that works well, but I can't seem to show a proper UI, although the toast appears correctly. As far as I can tell, this is caused by Android requiring the class to extend Activity, however, the class already extends BroadcastReciever, so I can't do this. So, I tried to do an Intent, but this failed too. There are no errors, but the screen doesn't show. Source code is below, and any help would be most appreciated.     I'm using a filter in web.xml to check if a user is logged in or not: <filter> <filter-name>LoginFilter</filter-name> <filter-class>com.mycompany.LoginFilter</filter-class> </filter> <filter-mapping> <filter-name>LoginFilter</filter-name> <url-pattern>/*</url-pattern> </filter-mapping> And this works like a charm until I have a stylesheet or image I want to exclude from this filter. I know one approach is to put everything that's protected inside /privateor similar, and then set the url-pattern to: <url-pattern>/private/*</url-pattern>. The downside to this is my URLs now looking like: http://www.mycompany.com/private/mypage instead of http://www.mycompany.com/mypage. Is there another solution to this problem, that let me keep my pretty-urls?

  • How to convert html textfield/area data to server-side txt file? [closed]

    How can I make a script that will convert the text/data in a html textfield/textarea and send it to the server, which then saves it as a .txt file for storage? NOTE: I am hosting a website(for testing purposes) using Apache 2.2 on a Windows 7 machine. I downloaded PHP version 5.4.7, but have not yet installed on my server yet (not sure if I will need it, but also not sure how to install it). 1st problem: Saving text to server Html page/section with title textfield, text textarea, and submit button. You would enter a title, the text/notes you need in the textfield, then press the submit button to have it store the text in the textarea, as a .txt file on the server called .txt. 2nd problem: Opening text from server Html with list of all txt files OR textfield for entering in title, then submit button to send the title of the requested .txt file to the server, which would then load it up on the page.   • How Do I Prevent Rails From Treating Updated Nested Attributes Differently From New Nested Attribute

    I am using rails3 beta3 and couchdb via couchrest. I am not using active record. I want to add multiple "Sections" to a "Guide" and add and remove sections dynamically via a little javascript. I have looked at all the screencasts by Ryan Bates and they have helped immensely. The only difference is that I want to save all the sections as an array of sections instead of individual sections. Basically like this: "sections" => [{"title" => "Foo1", "content" => "Bar1"}, {"title" => "Foo2", "content" => "Bar2"}] So, basically I need the params hash to look like that when the form is submitted. When I create my form I am doing the following: <%= form_for @guide, :url => { :action => "create" } do |f| %> <%= render :partial => 'section', :collection => @guide.sections %> <%= f.submit "Save" %> <% end %> And my section partial looks like this: <%= fields_for "sections[]", section do |guide_section_form| %> <%= guide_section_form.text_field :section_title %> <%= guide_section_form.text_area :content, :rows => 3 %> <% end %> Ok, so when I create the guide with sections, it is working perfectly as I would like. The params hash is giving me a sections array just like I would want. The problem comes when I want edit guide/sections and save them again because rails is inserting the id of the guide in the id and name of each form field, which is screwing up the params hash on form submission.   • Django forms, inheritance and order of form fields

    I'm using Django forms in my website and would like to control the order of the fields. Here's how I define my forms: class edit_form(forms.Form): summary = forms.CharField() description = forms.CharField(widget=forms.TextArea) class create_form(edit_form): name = forms.CharField() The name is immutable and should only be listed when the entity is created. I use inheritance to add consistency and DRY principles. What happens which is not erroneous, in fact totally expected, is that the name field is listed last in the view/html but I'd like the name field to be on top of summary and description. I do realize that I could easily fix it by copying summary and description into create_form and loose the inheritance but I'd like to know if this is possible. Why? Imagine you've got 100 fields in edit_form and have to add 10 fields on the top in create_form - copying and maintaining the two forms wouldn't look so sexy then. (This is not my case, I'm just making up an example) So, how can I override this behavior? Edit: Apparently there's no proper way to do this without going through nasty hacks (fiddling with .field attribute). The .field attribute is a SortedDict (one of Django's internal datastructures) which doesn't provide any way to reorder key:value pairs. It does how-ever provide a way to insert items at a given index but that would move the items from the class members and into the constructor. This method would work, but make the code less readable. The only other way I see fit is to modify the framework itself which is less-than-optimal in most situations. In short the code would become something like this: class edit_form(forms.Form): summary = forms.CharField() description = forms.CharField(widget=forms.TextArea) class create_form(edit_form): def __init__(self,*args,**kwargs): forms.Form.__init__(self,*args,**kwargs) self.fields.insert(0,'name',forms.CharField()) That shut me up :)

    I want to fetch the names of users on facebook. For that, I tried using FQL query. The code is, $result = $facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid='$user_id'); But there is some problem with this. I guess the query is not getting executed or it is returning null values. I also tried using users.getInfo as follows, $result = $facebook->api_client->users_getInfo($user_id,'name'); But again, the same problem. I tried to display the array as, echo $result['name]; So, I tried both the codes as, if(!$facebook->api_client->fql_query("SELECT name FROM user WHERE uid='$user_id')) { echo "Error."; } I have included both facebook.php and facebookapi_php5_restlib.php in my php file. Where am i going wrong?

  • jQuery ajax link, returned data includes a from that wont submit

    Hi everyone, I have a problem with the returned data from a ajax request. Basically when I click on a link it runs a ajax request to load some html into a div, that part is working fine the problem comes when the data has been loaded. Part of the html loaded is a form, this form works fine if I load the page directly but when it is loaded through ajax into the div it wont submit but the rest of the links in the html work fine. Sooo, i am confuzed now. What do I have to call, import, add, use in code.... to make this work? I am using Google Api2.2, Api level 8. If somebody has found a solution for this, or a pointer for documentation, something that i didn't discover, please let us know. Thank you for your time.

  • Extra fulltext ordering criteria beyond default relevance

    I'm implementing an ingredient text search, for adding ingredients to a recipe. I've currently got a full text index on the ingredient name, which is stored in a single text field, like so: "Sauce, tomato, lite, Heinz" I've found that because there are a lot of ingredients with very similar names in the database, simply sorting by relevance doesn't work that well a lot of the time. So, I've found myself sorting by a bunch of my own rules of thumb, which probably duplicates a lot of the full-text search algorithm which spits out a numerical relevance. For instance (abridged): ORDER BY [ingredient name is exactly search term], [ingredient name starts with search term], [ingredient name starts with any word from the search and contains all search terms in some order], [ingredient name contains all search terms in some order], ...and so on. Each of these is defined in the SELECT specification as an expression returning either 1 or 0, and so I order by those in sequential order. I would love to hear suggestions for: A better way to define complicated order-by criteria in one place, say perhaps in a view or stored procedure that you can pass just the search term to and get back a set of results without having to worry about how they're ordered? A better tool for this than MySQL's fulltext engine -- perhaps if I was using Sphinx or something [which I've heard of but not used before], would I find some sort of complicated config option designed to solve problems like this? Some google search terms which might turn up discussion on how to order text items within a specific domain like this? I haven't found much that's of use. Thanks for reading!

    I have two tables in the model, one table contains entries related to the other table in a one to many relations, for example: Table User ID Name Table Comments ID UserID Title Text I want to show a datagrid in a WPF window with two columns, one text column with the User name and another column with a combobox showing all the comments made by the user. The queries are returning data and the user names are shown but the combobox is not being filled.     Hi I have created a xlt excel template which works fine in Excel 2007 under compatibility mode and shows no errors on compatibility check. The template runs a number of Macros which creates pivot tables and charts. When a colleague tries to run the same xlt on excel 2003 they get a Runtime error 428 (Object does not support this property or method).   • Mixing inheritance mapping strategies in NHibernate

    I have a rather large inheritance hierarchy in which some of the subclasses add very little and others add quite a bit. I don't want to map the entire hierarchy using either "table per class hierarchy" or "table per subclass" due to the size and complexity of the hierarchy. Ideally I'd like to mix mapping strategies such that portions of the hierarchy where the subclasses add very little are combined into a common table a la "table per class hierarchy" and subclasses that add a lot are broken out into a separate table. Using this approach, I would expect to have 2 or 3 tables with very little wasted space instead of either 1 table with lots of fields that don't apply to most of the objects, or 20+ tables, several of which would have only a couple of columns. In the NHibernate Reference Documentation version 2.1.0, I found section 8.1.4 "Mixing table per class hierarchy with table per subclass". This approach switches strategies partway down the hierarchy by using: ... <subclass ...> <join ...> <property ...> ... </join> </subclass> ... This is great in theory. In practice, though, I found that the schema was too restrictive in what was allowed inside the "join" element for me to be able to accomplish what I needed.
