  • ADVISOR WEBCAST: R12: How to debug Email Center Auto Service Request Creation Failures

    - by user793044
PRODUCT FAMILY: EBS CRM - Service November 6, 2012 at 11 am ET, 9 am MT, 8 am PT, 4 pm London The primary function of this WebCast is to explain how to debug problems when auto-creating a Service Request from an Inbound Email into Email Center. We see a significant number of issues raised with Support in this area, as the only indication the auto-creation has failed, is the Email routing to the Supervisor Queue for manual processing. Topics will include: Understand Email Center and Auto SR creation process.  Run the debug procedures. Understand the output and check the reasons for SR Creation failure. See the fixes for the most common issues faced. See the results for successful SR creation. Go to Doc ID 1493122.1 to register. Current Schedule and Archived Downloads can be found on Doc ID 740966.1.

  • No sound in 12.04 on VirtualBox

In sound properties only digital output built in S/PDIF and headphones! I've done the pavcontrol - alsamixer - all settings are OK. I've tried both 32/64 versions of Ubuntu. Running current version VirtualBox. System: Windows 7 64 - i5. What am I overlooking?

  • How to use unused space in ubuntu

    - by Ravi.Kumar
I installed ubuntu on my machine with only 80 GB of memory anticipating that I will remove it later but now I want to keep it forever (until I am frustrated with linux). I have 500 GB in my machine and now I want to use that raw 420 GB of space. How I can I do that ? with "space/memory" I am referring to secondary memory not Ram. Here is output of : sudo fdisk -l Disk /dev/sda: 500.1 GB, 500107862016 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 60801 cylinders, total 976773168 sectors Units = sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes Disk identifier: 0x000dcb77 Device Boot Start End Blocks Id System /dev/sda1 * 2048 136718335 68358144 83 Linux

  • How can I get a 1920x1080 resolution?

    - by Sam T.
I a newbie Linux and have just installed Ubuntu in a dual boot with Windows 7. I love the interface of Ubuntu but unfortunately I can only get a 800x600 or 1024x728 resolution with black bars all around the screen. I have an nVidia GTX 570 graphics card and an Asus 1080p 23" monitor. What may be of note is that I had to use the nomodeset command on installation of the boot would get stuck at a line with "nouveau", which I understand is to do with the drivers. Additionally, when I type in xrandr to the terminal, it comes up with the error message "failed to get size of gamma for output default". I guess what I am looking for here is someone who could explain to me really simply the steps I have to take to get a full 1080p resolution, at which point I am sure i will become a great fan of the OS! Thanks in advance, Sam T.

  • Upload Recordings Of The Problem To Your SR

    - by Irina
Do you find yourself trying several times to explain a problem in a Service Request? Does the support engineer ask more than once for clarification? If so, you might be interested in DITO -- Demo It To Oracle. DITO uses CamStudio (free download!) to record the exact nature of the problem, and upload the output to your SR. The following articles provide more details: Working with Support - MOSSOS (Doc ID 1265130.1) "Demo It To Oracle" (DITO) - CamStudio Help ( Doc ID 11.1) Why take up valuable time first explaining the problem, then trying to get a web conference setup to show exactly what is going on? The next time you file an SR, try including a recording showing exactly which application is failing, where it is failing, and what it looks like when it fails.

  • Where do I set my SPF record?

    - by Misha
Many years ago we purchased a domain from Yahoo. Now our website is hosted on Amazon EC2. The output of an SPF checking tool (http://www.kitterman.com/getspf2.py) says SPF records are primarily published in DNS as TXT records. The TXT records found for your domain are: i=182&m=bizmail-mx2-p9 SPF records should also be published in DNS as type SPF records. No type SPF records found. Checking to see if there is a valid SPF record. No valid SPF record found of either type TXT or type SPF. Where do I get access to these values? Can somebody speculate, where can I find an interface, or a configuration file to fill in the missing fields?

  • How to name a method that both performs a task and returns a boolean as a status?

    - by Limbo Exile
If there is a method bool DoStuff() { try { // doing stuff... return true; } catch (Exception ex) { return false; } } should it rather be called IsStuffDone()? Both names could be misinterpreted by the user: If the name is DoStuff() why does it return a boolean? If the name is IsStuffDone() it is not clear whether the method performs a task or only checks its result. Is there a convention for this case? Or an alternative approach, as this one is considered flawed? For example in languages that have output parameters, like C#, a boolean status variable could be passed to the method as one and the method's return type would be void.

  • Convert Currencies Dynamically using PHP, Google and cURL [closed]

    - by LizO
I want to be able to allow users to dynamically change the currency of the products prices in my webstore, right there on the page. For example, 300 USD will change to 221.61 EUR when the user selects Euros from a dropdown. I found a few sites with PHP code for a calculator/input format (user inputs value and converted currency is output.) http://www.chazzuka.com/blog/?p=104 http://www.pixel2life.com/publish/tutorials/1166/currency_conversion_in_php/page-3/ I was hoping someone could help me figure out how to modify the PHP script. Thanks in advance.

  • Asterisk not playing custom sounds on Ubuntu Server 11.04

    - by jochy2525
I've installed Asterisk on my Ubuntu Server, all works fine, excepts playing the custom sounds. Asterisk sounds work, but this file I've uploaded does not play (on other servers it works, it is a .WAV PCM 16bit 8000). Here is some log output: [Feb 6 22:55:45] WARNING[11045] file.c: File custom/sohoitsoluciones does not exist in any format [Feb 6 22:55:45] WARNING[11045] file.c: Unable to open custom/sohoitsoluciones (format 0x4 (ulaw)): No such file or directory [Feb 6 22:55:45] WARNING[11045] app_playback.c: ast_streamfile failed on SIP/Out4903-0000001d for custom/sohoitsoluciones How can I get Asterisk to play a custom sound?

  • Regex to String generation

    - by Mifmif
Let's say that we have a regex and an index i , if we suppose that the set of string that match our regex are sorted in a lexicographical order, how could we get the i element of this list ? Edit : I added this simple example for more explanation : input : regex="[a-c]{1,2}"; index=4; in this case the ordered list of string that matches this regex contains those elements : a aa ab ac b ba bb bc c ca cb cc output : the 4th element which is ac ps: it's known that the string list that match the regex have infinite element, this doesn't have an impact on the proccess of extracting the element in the given index.

  • Weird issue with iptables redirection

    - by skypemesm
I am trying to redirect all incoming traffic on UDP port 5060 to port 56790, and all outgoing traffic from 5060 to the port 56789. I used these iptables rules: iptables -t nat -I PREROUTING -p udp ! -s localhost --dport 5060 -j REDIRECT --to-port 56790 iptables -t nat -I OUTPUT -p udp ! -s localhost --sport 5060 -j REDIRECT --to-port 56789 I listen on both ports using RAW SOCKETS after setting the interface to PROMISCUOUS mode using ioctl. I see packets ONLY on 56789 i.e.SENDING side, and I do not see any packets on 56790, while wireshark shows that many packets are delivered to port 5060. Why would this happen? Any ideas? Do you think it's a problem with iptables rules or something to do with raw sockets? [This is ubuntu 10.04 and iptables v1.4.4]

  • Where should I store and verify files manipulated by an app

    - by Alan W. Smith
I'm working on a little Ruby script to move screenshots while renaming them based on a specific convention. I'll be writing tests to confirm the behavior. Ruby has lots of conventions for where to store files (e.g. the "spec" and "features" directories for RSpec and Cucumber, respectively), but I'm not finding best practices for storing files that will be acted upon by the tests. The same goes for a destination for the final copies of the files. So, the question in two parts is: Where should I store files that the test cases will use for a source input. Where should tests that need to write output files send them to.

  • Rehosting content from another server

    - by Lana_M
We have a set of static pages that will augment a customer's existing site. The pages will not reside on the customer's servers for logistical reasons and because we need to maintain control of the content. The plan is for the customer to set up a mod_rewrite rule that will funnel certain types of URLs to a single server-side handler script that will grab the appropriate file from a CDN and just output its content. This illustrates the approach: <?php echo(file_get_contents(str_replace($customer_host, $cdn_host, $_SERVER['REQUEST_URI']))); ?> Can anyone think of pitfalls or offer up a different approach? Is there some way to circumvent a script altogether?

I just installed ubuntu 11 and the maximum resolution that it will let me set it at is 1024 x 768. My graphics are onboard, its the intel 82845g. • How to connect to the internet via command line or graphical utility given I can't click at the top of the screen?

    - by Ben
My Ubuntu 12.04 installation has an input problem resulting preventing me from clicking near the top of the screen. That is, there is an unclickable area, circa 60 pixels high and stretching all the way across the screen. I will ask about this in a later question. For now, I would just like to be able to connect to the internet, given this limitation. I am able to access the network connections application by hitting the super key and typing "network connections". There is a LAN and a wireless network available. The network icon in the bar at the top of the screen shows an empty wedge, which I suppose means that wireless is off. I've attached the cable for the Ethernet connection, but it does not seem to have connected automatically. How can I figure out what's going on? (I'll happily edit in the output of any relevant terminal commands.) Thank you.

  • Why isn't garbage collection being activated in my code? [migrated]

    - by Netmoon
I have a foreach statement in my code, where each iteration calculates huge amounts of data and goes to the next iteration. I run this code, but when I read the log, I see there's a memory leak error. PHP.net says when this happens, using gc_enabled() is a good way to handle this. I've added these lines to last line of the foreach block: echo "Check GC enabled : " . gc_enabled(); echo "Number of affected cycles : " . gc_collect_cycles(); And this is the output: Check GC enabled : 1 Number of affected cycles : 0 Why do cycles exist, but the affected cycles is 0?

  • Is deserializing complex objects instead of creating them a good idea, in test setup?

    - by Chris Bye
    I'm writing tests for a component that takes very complex objects as input. These tests are mixes of tests against already existing components, and test-first tests for new features. Instead of re-creating my input objects (this would be a large chunk of code) or reading one from our data store, I had the thought to serialize a live instance of one of these objects, and just deserialize it into test setup. I can't decide if this is a reasonable idea that will save effort in long run, or whether it's the worst idea that I've ever had, causing those that will maintain this code will hunt me down as soon as they read it. Is deserialization of inputs a valid means of test setup in some cases? To give a sense of scale of what I'm dealing with, the size of serialization output for one of these input objects is 93KB. Obtained by, in C#: new BinaryFormatter().Serialize((Stream)fileStream, myObject);

  • Web-based data generator

    - by John Paul Cook
One of my coworkers told me about Mockaroo , a web-based data generator. I needed some test data for upcoming blog posts, so I decided to give it a try. It’s pretty good. I had to use Firefox because of problems running Mockaroo on Internet Explorer 11. Using the defaults except for changing the format to SQL, it generated output that looked something like the following. Mockaroo is so good that it generates fake data that could accidentally be real, such as email addresses. Consequently, I edited...(read more)

  • Is it bad form to stage a function's steps in intermediate variables (let bindings)?

    - by octopusgrabbus
I find I tend to need intermediate variables. In Clojure that's in the form of let bindings, like cmp-result-1 and cmp-result-2 in the following function. (defn str-cmp "Takes two strings and compares them. Returns the string if a match; and nil if not." [str-1 str-2 start-pos substr-len] (let [cmp-result-1 (subs str-1 start-pos substr-len) cmp-result-2 (subs str-2 start-pos substr-len)] (compare cmp-result-1 cmp-result-2))) I could re-write this function without them, but to me, the function's purpose looks clearer. I tend to do this quite in a bit in my main, and that is primarily for debugging purposes, so I can pass a variable to print out intermediate output. Is this bad form, and, if so, why? Thanks.

  • Change administrator username

    - by Fazlan
I have accidentally typed my name wrong when I created the administrator account. Although I managed to change the user name at the login screen, I am unable to rename the /home/oldusername to /home/newusername. I tried most of the online tutorials, and it failed. The code I tried was this: usermod -l newusername -m -d /home/newusername oldusername But the output is: cannot lock /etc/passwd; try again later. How can I fix the issue and change the folder to newusername and expect all the applications to work as before?

  • How to apply a filter to the screen of a running program?

    - by Shahbaz
The idea is to take old games without modifying them, but have the graphics card apply a series of filters to their output before sending them to the monitor. A very crude example would be to take a game that has a resolution of 640x480 and do: Increase the resolution to 1280x960 Apply a blur (low pass filter) Apply a sharpen (1 + high pass filter) These steps may not necessarily be the best to improve the visuals of an old game, but there are a lot of techniques that are well-known in image processing for this purpose. The question is, do the (NVidia) graphics cards give the ability to load a program that modifies the screen before sending it to the monitor? If so, how are they called and what terminology should I use to search? I would be comfortable with doing the programming myself if this ability is part of a library. Also, would the solution be different between Windows and Linux? If so, either is fine, since most of the games are probably runnable by wine.

  • Bluetooth device paired and connected (no sound)

    - by Michael
I've got a Bluetooth headset which works great in both Windows 8 and Android 4.2 however on Ubuntu (13.10) it just doesn't seem to work. I installed Blueman, it paired and connected successfully when I tried Audio sink but it still doesn't show up in my Sound Settings nor PulseAudio which I installed and tried. All there is in my Sound Settings is "Analog Output". I tried several fix like changing and adding things in /etc/bluetooth/audio.conf without any success. I've restarted the bluetooth service several times in the process as well. Let me know if you need more information from me and my system. Kind regards, Michael.

  • How can I fix my problems with fonts in Firefox?

    - by snostorm
Ever since I reinstalled Ubuntu a few hours ago, I've experienced major visual artifacts with smaller font sizes in Firefox. The fonts end up looking like this: Or even like this: This only occurs in Firefox; other applications are unaffected. It also occurred on the LiveUSB I used for installation, making me suspect a hardware or driver issue. The output of lshw on my computer is here: http://pastebin.com/LnSt6veT. Any idea what might be causing this, or how I can fix it? ... and "Use Google Chrome" is not a valid answer. ;)
