    Hi there, i'm thinking about writing a WPF program that would require login and password at the app startup. I thought about small form with two textboxes as a login form.   • Windows 8 store freezes when searching for updates

    I'm running Windows 8 Pro (x64) on my home desktop. Everything is working well (very very differently, but well) except for the Store application. Several days ago, I got an update notification that listed 8 application updates. I hit the link to install the updates, but only six of them installed. Now I have Updates(2) showing in the store's notification area, and whenever I try to look for the updates the Store goes into "searching" mode (the circles/dots animation) and never finishes the search. Is there any way that I can reset the Store app? I have tried re-downloading it with no success.

    I've been trying to use yum now, but for some reason, not even the search work anymore. I even tried putting packages I already downloaded in the search criteria and is the same.     I have Ubuntu 10.10 (upgraded from 10.04) I was browsing in Firefox yesterday, then the PC did a suddenly reset Once I restarted, everything went normal until gdm begun showing. Then everything froze and locked when userlist showed. I could not move mouse pointer nor do anything with keyboard. Both, mouse and keyboard work fine, because this Ubuntu is dual-booting with a Windows XP install which loads/works fine. Here is my .xsession-errors file, but I don't have a clue what may be wrong.     I'm using BAS in a Cocoa app with a custom prompt for admin password... But now I want to change the prompt. I changed it in the strings file and it doesn't change. I rebuilt everything and deleted the sockets in /var/run and the launchdaemon and privelegedhelpertools folders. But the prompt just won't change!!! Help?

  • Should I use my models in a library?

    I've got my auth library in codeigniter which accesses the database to check to see if the email/password combination is correct. If I'm sticking to the MVC practice, should I move the function that interacts with the database to my model, or is it best practice to leave it where it is so I can use it in the future? Doesn't make much difference to me, other than the fact I'd have to re-write the library and create the function in my model, but if that's the way it should be then so be it.

    I am attempting to configure a new CISCO Aironet 1200 Series Access Point to have a fixed IP. I have been searching online and I have come to the conclusion that the default IP address of this device is 10.0.0.1. These are the steps I have taken: My machine is plugged directly into the Ethernet port (not the Console port) of the AP. My Ethernet adapter is set to 10.0.0.2. I have reset the AP by holding the Mode button while powering up the device. The issue remains that I can not access 10.0.0.1 through the web, nor can I ping that address.

  • OSX Lion - Stuck in Drag mode and mouse click events are not going through. Can I manually generate a mouseup event?

    My mouse is stuck in "drag" mode. This generally happens in Photoshop, but happens dragging files and such as well. Clicking rapidly here and there generally solves the problem. Sometimes though, it won't go away until a restart. Unplugging devices, etc., doesn't do anything. For example, right now, my mouse moves but can not click anything so I am using the keyboard to navigate this site. Is there a way to "reset" however the OS stores mouse states? Can I manually fire off a MouseUp event? It's strange that even when human input devices are unplugged, the files are still in drag state.

  • Windows XP failing to set theme correctly on auto-login

    On several testing machines we have, when automatic login (as Administrator) is activated, Windows fails to set theme (Display properties - Themes) correctly. Particularly, even if theme is set to "Windows Classic", visually it's obvious that "Windows XP" is applied (the one with blue title bars and red "X" butons). I have only seen this happen when Auto-login is set--we always use Administrator on XP. Even if I log out and back in manually, theme is set correctly. Apart from logging out and in, it's also possible to reset theme in "Display properties". It does not happen in 100% of the cases, but it's way over 50%. Definitely it's often enough to be annoying. I believe this is a bug in Windows XP. I have never encountered it on other Windows versions. Does anybody know how to avoid this issue once forever? (Or can anybody provide explanation, relevant links, etc.?)
