  Consider the bellow code. This code is supposed to be processing data at a fixed rate, in one second batches, It is part of an overal system and can't take up too much time. When running over 100 lots of 1 seconds worth of data the program takes 35 seconds (or 35%), executing this function in a loop. The test loop is timed specifically with Ada.RealTime. The data is pregenerated so the majority of the execution time is definatetly in this loop. How do I improce the code to get the processing time down to a minimum?   I have written code to implement an algorithm I found on string permutations. What I have is an arraylist of words ( up to 200) and I need to permutate the list in levels of 5. Basically group the string words in fives and permutated them. What I have takes the first 5 words generates the permutations and ignores the rest of the arraylist? Any ideas appreciated.   I am experimenting with Rails and was wondering what's needed to allow/add support for JSON requests?   I'm trying to configure CAS authentication. It requires both CAS and client application to use HTTPS protocol. Unfortunately we should use self-signed certificate (with CN that doesn't have anything in common with our server). Also the server is behind firewall and we have only two ports (ssh and https) visible. As far as there're several application that should be visible externally, we use Apache for ajp reverse proxying requests to these applications. Secure connections are managed by Apache, and all Tomcat are not configured to work with SSL.   I am running Windows 8 Pro on an Apple MacBook Pro 9,1 Mid 2012 15 inch non retina. It has a Core i7-3720 QM CPU @ 2.6 GHz. For the past few days, I have noticed that it is constantly running at max speed which is 2.59 GHz. Before, it used to run at 1.5 - 1.8 GHz on normal usage. And, the weirder thing is that CPU usage is minimal. Screenshot: So, what is the reason for this? And is it harmful?

• FreeNX Server w/ nxagent 3.5 not able to create shadow sessions

  I am running a FreeNX server on Ubuntu 11.10 and am unable to do session shadowing. I get the authorization prompt, but the shadow client crashes after. The NX server log in the user's .nx directory is as follows: Error: Aborting session with 'Server is already active for display 3000 If this server is no longer running, remove /tmp/.X3000-lock and start again'. Session: Aborting session at 'Mon Oct 1 14:26:44 2012'. Session: Session aborted at 'Mon Oct 1 14:26:44 2012'. This then deletes the lock file, which is the lock file for the initial Unix session and crashes out. Everything works for a normal session, and shadowing works up to the authorization prompt.   Dhcpd running on Linux gets a dhcp request over dhcrelay which is running on other remote machine. It seems (of course) is should also listen to external interface for replies. It appears it is not important where the packet destined to. dhrelay will forward it to internal net. HOWEVER, I have deleted route on dhcpd server to reach 172.16.17.x subnet. It again tries to send reply to 172.16.17.81. • Scroll an input box to the cursor position in javascript

  I've written a simple JS function that places the cursor at the end of the contents of an input box when it receives focus (the most common action in the box being to append). I haven't checked in IE, but when there is more text than is visible, even moving the cursor to the end of input doesn't scroll the view to the end of input in firefox 3.6. Any idea how to do this? P.S. And no I'm not using JQuery, nor is it an option ;)

• VB .Net - Reflection: Reflected Method from a loaded Assembly executes before calling method. Why?

  When I am loading an Assembly dynamically, then calling a method from it, I appear to be getting the method from Assembly executing before the code in the method that is calling it. It does not appear to be executing in a Serial manner as I would expect. Can anyone shine some light on why this might be happening. I'm just curious to see the community feedback on my solution. This solution makes use of a static array, which is populated using type-safe enum objects before first use. Just wanted to confirm that I'm not headed for future trouble by using self in the superclass PhoneNumber and using that to execute class methods on subclasses from the parent. Is there a better way?

• Mount TMPFS instead of ro /dev

  I am working on a ARM-Based embedded system with a custom Debian Linux based on kernel 2.6.31. In the final system, the Root file system is stored as squashfs on flash. Now, the folder /dev is created by udev, but since there is no hot plugging functionality needed and booting time is critical, I wanted to delete udev and "hard code" the /dev folder (read here, page 5). because i still need to change parameters of the devices (with ioctl /sysfs) this does not work for me in this case. so i thought of mounting a tmpfs on /dev and change the parameters there. is this possible? and how to do best? my approach would be: delete /dev from RFS create tar containing basic devices mount tmpfs /dev untar tar-file into /dev change parameters Could this work? Do you see any problems? I found out, that you can mount on top of already mounted mount point, is it somehow possible just to take data with while mounting the new file system? if so that would be very convenient! Thanks Update: I just tried that out, but I'm stuck at a certain point. Over that my echo's are not executed. If I then log in, /dev is mounted as TMPFS as desired and all the devices reside inside. When I redo the "mount" command to mount the UBIFS partitions it is executed whitout problem and useable. From squashfs VFS: Mounted root (squashfs filesystem) readonly on device 31:15.
