• Java slick command line app?

  Hello Guys, I want to make a slick java commandline app which doesnt include all the nasty "java -jar some.jar arguments" instead, I would have it work just like program -option argument like any other commandline app. I use ubuntu linux, and it would be fine if it included a bit of .sh script or anything. I know I can just create a file with java -jar program.jar and do chmod +x file, afterwards I could run i with ./file, but then how can I pass the arguments to the program ?

• How to I make a navigation-based app?

  Yes, I know, most of you are thinking I'm an idiot, butt (kidding) I'm not. I've been searching everywhere for something on how to fully make a navigation-based iphone app, but all I've found is how to set up table views or navigation controllers. I haven't found anything on how to create a data model (something simple from arrays and dictionaries, SQLite and CoreData are a bit out of my scope) or navigate it. Does anyone know of any tutorials or anything like that? Thanks.

Bitshifting each bit into an integer and just having an integer in the database named days or should we make all of them separate boolean values so to have sunday, monday, tuesday... columns?

  Given a infinite stream of random 0's and 1's that is from a biased (e.g. 1's are more common than 0's by a know factor) but otherwise ideal random number generator, I want to convert it into a (shorter) infinite stream that is just as ideal but also unbiased. Looking up the definition of entropy finds this graph showing how many bits of output I should, in theory, be able to get from each bit of input. The question: Is there any practical way to actually implement a converter that is nearly ideally efficient?

  Hi folks, I'm currently using os.popen() but have been recommended to use subprocess.popen() instead. Any ideas on how I can integrate this? It would be cool and fun to have a Python shell accessible on a Django app. But I reckon that it might be a bit complex to implement.   I'm bit confused. I've been building my sites with my own session system, but i'm not sure how secure the php's own session system is. My session system usually just has user id and quite harsh hash, which does not include user name or password for generation. I save the hash in the user database and as a cookie to confirm the user session on every page load. So my question is should i keep using my own systems or try out php sessions?

• Another Memory Alignment Question?

  I understand why data need to be aligned (and all the efforts made to accomplish it like padding) so we can reduce the number of memory accesses but this assumes that processor just can fetch addresses multiples of 4(supposing we are using a 32-bit architecture). And because of that assumption we need to align memory and my question is why we can just access addresses multiple of 4(efficiency, hardware restriction, another one)? Which is the advantages of doing this? Why cannot we access all the addresses available? hugs

  I'm doing a steganography project where I read in bytes from a ppm file and add the least significant bit to an array. So once 8 bytes are read in, I would have 8 bits in my array, which should equal some character in a hidden message. Is there an easy way to convert an array of 0's and 1's into an ascii value? For example, the array: char bits[] = "0,1,1,1,0,1,0,0" would equal 't'.
