Hi everyone!
I've recently got interested in Linux network programming and read quite a bit (Beej's Guide to Network Programming). But now I'm confused. I would like to write something to have some practice, but I don't know what exactly. Could please recommend me a couple of projects to start with?
Thanks.
I am running CentOS 5.5 x86_64 with JDK 1.6, Eclipse Galileo, and the 0.9.7 ADT is installed; however, after installation, the Android project type is not available. I have checked in the installed packages list and it is installed. Anybody encounter this problem before? Could it be due to my use of the 64-bit java VM that is installed on my system?
I know there are other questions regarding this subject, and I've looked at this question, but I'd like to see a little bit more discussion and information on both sides of this - is it a better practice to add a project to a solution and reference the project, or to add a reference to the .dll?
I'm trying to get the HTML data of a website so that I can parse it. I have parsing bit sorted out but using the following code doesn't seem to work:
NSData *data = [[NSData alloc] initWithContentsOfURL: [NSURL URLWithString:@"http://thewebsite.net"]];
Is this the way I should be doing it or is there another way?
I'm preparing a short talk for a conference in august and I'm looking for open source projects that are using agile methods internally or have tried them in the past.
My goal is to talk about the things that work well and what won't work and promote the agile methods a little bit, because I think certain agile techniques are a good fit, but don't seem to be that common in real development.
So does anyone know projects that have tried agile methods and techniques before? I'd like to contact them for a few questions.
Suppose we have the following method (it is in c code):
const char *bitap_search(const char *text, const char *pattern)
My question is how can I compare text and pattern if they are char? This method is like a substring problem but I am confused a bit can I write in term of char such code?
if (text[i]==pattern[i])?
Hello I have a database for a certain record where it needs to store a 1 or a 0 for each day of the week. So which one would be better? Bitshifting each bit into an integer and just having an integer in the database named days or should we make all of them separate boolean values so to have sunday, monday, tuesday... columns?
Hi All,
I'm a bit confused by a few tutorials that I read about the ListView.
I have a ListView control and on the left hand side should be a name, and to the right of that name should be like another column with some more text in it. For example:
ListView:
jason blah blah blah
item2 more blahs
item3 jupiter
item4 uranus
How can this be done? Is there a simple way of doing this?
Thank you
Is there a way to speed up PostgreSQL's createdb command?
Normally I wouldn't care, but doing unit testing in Django creates a database every time, and it takes about 5 seconds.
I'm using openSUSE 11.2 64-bit, PostgreSQL 8.4.2
I'm creating a reporting application, and our customers are going to need to generate some pretty big reports which require quite a bit of memory. Ive been in a re-factoring mood lately, so I was wondering what the best way to access the properties of another open form would be(The reporting viewer opens in a new form.) So far I have:
Dim form As MainSelections
form = My.Application.OpenForms(2)
yay or nay.
Thanks
Looking for built in encryption functions, not to hide the string from the clever programmer, but instead just to obfuscate it a bit. Looking for functions such as str_rot13 and base64_encode, but I can't seem to locate any. Surely there are more?
I’m currently working on this theme : http://tf.ffffffive.com/fancy/
I just need a few pointers on how to get it working in IE6 and IE7 .
-The positioning is a bit off.
-If you guys have a helpful blog post of maybe give me a hand with some CSS coding I would really appreciate it.
Also the Javascript scrolling effect isn't working correctly due to the positioning. Any tips would be appreciated.
Thanks, Henry
Does anyone see server-side JavaScript taking off? There are a couple of implementations out there, but it all seems to be a bit of a stretch (as in, "doing it BECAUSE WE CAN" type of attitude).
I'm curious to know if anyone actually writes JavaScript for the server-side and what their experiences with it have been to date.
Also, which implementation is generally seen as the most stable?
I am working on a program that automates tasks in a browser like entering text, clicking, etc and right now everything is working fine when using the Web Browser tool in Visual Studio 2010.
What I'd like to know is how should I approach converting all of this so I can use send requests instead of the browser? I heard its a lot more efficient and a lot better if you are going to be using multi threading but I have so much code that already works now and am not sure how I should do this without scraping quite a bit of it.
Yes, I know, most of you are thinking I'm an idiot, butt (kidding) I'm not. I've been searching everywhere for something on how to fully make a navigation-based iphone app, but all I've found is how to set up table views or navigation controllers. I haven't found anything on how to create a data model (something simple from arrays and dictionaries, SQLite and CoreData are a bit out of my scope) or navigate it. Does anyone know of any tutorials or anything like that? Thanks.

I am wondering what this technique is called and what it does. It seems to be validating some regular expression on the variable url. I am customizing another persons code:
var url = document.getElementById("editorURL").value;
if(/(file|http).*/.test(url)) {
}
Maybe someone has a link to an article that explains this a bit more in-depth?
Even I used break() and exit() statements many times, I am bit confused between them. I need to know exact meaning of both, when we should use them. Please explain with small example.
Thank you.
I'm iterating through the controls in a dialog and I'm trying to determine if a combobox was created with the WS_VSCROLL style.
The style, obtained from GetWindowLong(hwnd, GWL_STYLE), doesn't contain the WS_VSCROLL bit (0x200000), even when I know it was set on create.
hello I think the title says it all. I need to accomplish this result in android but it looks like there is no easy fix to my problem. Just to clarify a bit more: if I had to do it in html css I would write something like
<img src="Image URL" style="float:left; margin-right: 5px;" />
got it? ;)
thanks guyz
I am starting Android development. Which of the many Eclipse downloads do I need from http://www.eclipse.org/downloads/ ?
I am only ever going to do Android dev with Eclipse ever.
Platform: MAC 64 bit Snowleopard
I need to write a program in 8086 Assembly that receives data from the user, does some mathematical calculations and prints the answer on the screen, I have written all parts of the program and all work fine but I don't know how to print the number to the screen.
At the end of all my calculation the answer is AX and it is treated as an unsigned 16 bit integer. How do I print the decimal (unsigned) value of the AX register?
Ok so i have 2 jars (Console, Core)
1st-Console) receives user input
2nd-Core) processes the input and gives an output
i'm trying to have the two "Communicate" with each other by exchanging input and output
now i have tried writing to a file to communicate when i ran into the problem of "Notifying" the other that there is input to receive and output to give
i'm a bit new to this ideal so if its an easy function, please don't criticize.
